¹እንዳትሰናከሉ ይህን ተናግሬአችኋለሁ።

¹These things I have spoken unto you that ye may not be offended.

²ከምኵራባቸው ያወጡአችኋል፤ ከዚህ በላይ ደግሞ የሚገድላችሁ ሁሉ እግዚአብሔርን እንደሚያገለግል የሚመስልበት ጊዜ ይመጣል።

²They shall put you out of the synagogues; but the hour is coming that every one who kills you will think to render service to God;

³ይህንም የሚያደርጉባችሁ አብንና እኔን ስላላወቁ ነው።

³and these things they will do because they have not known the Father nor me.

⁴ነገር ግን ጊዜው ሲደርስ እኔ እንደ ነገርኋችሁ ታስቡ ዘንድ ይህን ተናግሬአችኋለሁ። ከእንናንተም ጋር ስለ ነበርሁ በመጀመሪያ ይህን አልነገርኋችሁም።

⁴But I have spoken these things to you, that when their hour shall have come, ye may remember them, that I have said [them] unto you. But I did not say these things unto you from [the] beginning, because I was with you.

⁵አሁን ግን ወደ ላከኝ እሄዳለሁ ከእናንተም። ወዴት ትሄዳለህ? ብሎ የሚጠይቀኝ የለም።

⁵But now I go to him that has sent me, and none of you demands of me, Where goest thou?

⁶ነገር ግን ይህን ስለ ተናገርኋችሁ ኀዘን በልባችሁ ሞልቶአል።

⁶But because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.

⁷እኔ ግን እውነት እነግራችኋለሁ፤ እኔ እንድሄድ ይሻላችኋል። እኔ ባልሄድ አጽናኙ ወደ እናንተ አይመጣምና፤ እኔ ብሄድ ግን እርሱን እልክላችኋለሁ።

⁷But I say the truth to you, It is profitable for you that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I go I will send him to you.

⁸እርሱም መጥቶ ስለ ኃጢአት ስለ ጽድቅም ስለ ፍርድም ዓለምን ይወቅሳል፤

⁸And having come, he will bring demonstration to the world, of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

⁹ስለ ኃጢአት፥ በእኔ ስለማያምኑ ነው፤ ስለ ጽድቅም፥ ወደ አብ ስለምሄድ ከዚህም በኋላ ስለማታዩኝ ነው፤

⁹of sin, because they do not believe on me;

¹¹ስለ ፍርድም፥ የዚህ ዓለም ገዥ ስለ ተፈረደበት ነው።

¹⁰of righteousness, because I go away to [my] Father, and ye behold me no longer;

¹²የምነግራችሁ ገና ብዙ አለኝ፥ ነገር ግን አሁን ልትሸከሙት አትችሉም።

¹¹of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

¹³ግን እርሱ የእውነት መንፈስ በመጣ ጊዜ ወደ እውነት ሁሉ ይመራችኋል፤ የሚሰማውን ሁሉ ይናገራል እንጂ ከራሱ አይነግርምና፤ የሚመጣውንም ይነግራችኋል።

¹²I have yet many things to say to you, but ye cannot bear them now.

¹⁴እርሱ ያከብረኛል፥ ለእኔ ካለኝ ወስዶ ይነግራችኋልና።

¹³But when *he* is come, the Spirit of truth, he shall guide you into all the truth: for he shall not speak from himself; but whatsoever he shall hear he shall speak; and he will announce to you what is coming.

¹⁵ለአብ ያለው ሁሉ የእኔ ነው፤ ስለዚህ። ለእኔ ካለኝ ወስዶ ይነግራችኋል አልሁ።

¹⁴He shall glorify me, for he shall receive of mine and shall announce [it] to you.

¹⁶ጥቂት ጊዜ አለ፥ አታዩኝምም፤ ደግሞም ጥቂት ጊዜ አለ፥ ታዩኛላችሁም፥ እኔ ወደ አብ እሄዳለሁና።

¹⁵All things that the Father has are mine; on account of this I have said that he receives of mine and shall announce [it] to you.

¹⁷ከደቀ መዛሙርቱም አንዳንዶቹ እርስ በርሳቸው። ጥቂት ጊዜ አለ፥ አታዩኝምም፤ ደግሞም ጥቂት ጊዜ አለ፥ ታዩኛላችሁም፤ ደግሞ። ወደ አብ እሄዳለሁና የሚለን ይህ ምንድር ነው? ተባባሉ።

¹⁶A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me, [because I go away to the Father].

¹⁸እንግዲህ። ጥቂት የሚለው ይህ ምንድር ነው? የሚናገረውን አናውቅም አሉ።

¹⁷[Some] of his disciples therefore said to one another, What is this he says to us, A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me, and, Because I go away to the Father?

¹⁹ኢየሱስም ሊጠይቁት እንደ ወደዱ አውቆ እንዲህ አላቸው። ጥቂት ጊዜ አለ፥ አታዩኝምም፤ ደግሞም ጥቂት ጊዜ አለ፥ ታዩኛላችሁ ስላልሁ፥ ስለዚህ እርስ በርሳችሁ ትመራመራላችሁን?

¹⁸They said therefore, What is this which he says [of] the little while? We do not know [of] what he speaks.

²⁰እውነት እውነት እላችኋለሁ፥ እናንተ ታለቅሳለችሁ ሙሾም ታወጣላችሁ፥ ዓለም ግን ደስ ይለዋል፤ እናንተም ታዝናላችሁ፥ ነገር ግን ኀዘናችሁ ወደ ደስታ ይለወጣል።

¹⁹Jesus knew therefore that they desired to demand of him, and said to them, Do ye inquire of this among yourselves that I said, A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me?

²¹ሴት በምትወልድበት ጊዜ ወራትዋ ስለ ደረሰ ታዝናለች፤ ነገር ግን ሕፃን ከወለደች በኋላ፥ ሰው በዓለም ተወልዶአልና ስለ ደስታዋ መከራዋን ኋላ አታስበውም።

²⁰Verily, verily, I say to you, that ye shall weep and lament, ye, but the world shall rejoice; and ye will be grieved, but your grief shall be turned to joy.

²²እንግዲህ እናንተ ደግሞ አሁን ታዝናላችሁ፤ ነገር ግን እንደ ገና አያችኋለሁ ልባችሁም ደስ ይለዋል፥ ደስታችሁንም የሚወስድባችሁ የለም።

²¹A woman, when she gives birth to a child, has grief because her hour has come; but when the child is born, she no longer remembers the trouble, on account of the joy that a man has been born into the world.

²³በዚያን ቀንም ከእኔ አንዳች አትለምኑም። እውነት እውነት እላችኋለሁ፥ አብ በስሜ የምትለምኑትን ሁሉ ይሰጣችኋል።

²²And ye now therefore have grief; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one takes from you.

²⁴እስከ አሁን በስሜ ምንም አልለመናችሁም፤ ደስታችሁ ፍጹም እንዲሆን ለምኑ ትቀበሉማላችሁ።

²³And in that day ye shall demand nothing of me: verily, verily, I say to you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give you.

²⁵ይህን በምሳሌ ነግሬአችኋለሁ፤ ነገር ግን ስለ አብ ለእናንተ በግልጥ የምናገርበት እንጂ ከዚያ ወዲያ በምሳሌ የማልናገርበት ሰዓት ይመጣል።

²⁴Hitherto ye have asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

²⁶በዚያን ቀን በስሜ ትለምናላችሁ፤ እኔም ስለ እናንተ አብን እንድለምን የምላችሁ አይደለሁም፤

²⁵These things I have spoken to you in allegories; the hour is coming that I will no longer speak to you in allegories, but will declare to you openly concerning the Father.

²⁷እናንተ ስለ ወደዳችሁኝ ከእግዚአብሔርም ዘንድ እኔ እንደ ወጣሁ ስላመናችሁ አብ እርሱ ራሱ ይወዳችኋልና።

²⁶In that day ye shall ask in my name; and I say not to you that I will demand of the Father for you,

²⁸ከአብ ወጥቼ ወደ ዓለም መጥቻለሁ፤ ደግሞ ዓለምን እተወዋለሁ ወደ አብም እሄዳለሁ።

²⁷for the Father himself has affection for you, because ye have had affection for me, and have believed that I came out from God.

²⁹ደቀ መዛሙርቱ። እነሆ፥ አሁን በግልጥ ትናገራለህ በምሳሌም ምንም አትነግርም።

²⁸I came out from the Father and have come into the world; again, I leave the world and go to the Father.

³⁰ሁሉን እንድታውቅ ማንምም ሊጠይቅህ እንዳትፈልግ አሁን እናውቃለን፤ ስለዚህ ከእግዚአብሔር እንደ ወጣህ እናምናለን አሉት።

²⁹His disciples say to him, Lo, now thou speakest openly and utterest no allegory.

³¹ኢየሱስም እንዲህ ብሎ መለሰላቸው። አሁን ታምናላችሁን?

³⁰Now we know that thou knowest all things, and hast not need that any one should demand of thee. By this we believe that thou art come from God.

³²እነሆ፥ እያንዳንዳችሁ ወደ ቤት የምትበታተኑበት እኔንም ለብቻዬ የምትተዉበት ሰዓት ይመጣል፥ አሁንም ደርሶአል፤ ነገር ግን አብ ከእኔ ጋር ስለ ሆነ ብቻዬን አይደለሁም።

³¹Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?

³³በእኔ ሳላችሁ ሰላም እንዲሆንላችሁ ይህን ተናግሬአችኋለሁ። በዓለም ሳላችሁ መከራ አለባችሁ፤ ነገር ግን አይዞአችሁ፤ እኔ ዓለምን አሸንፌዋለሁ።

³²Behold, [the] hour is coming, and has come, that ye shall be scattered, each to his own, and shall leave me alone; and [yet] I am not alone, for the Father is with me.

³³These things have I spoken to you that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye have tribulation; but be of good courage: I have overcome the world.
