¹ፋሲካም የሚባለው የቂጣ በዓል ቀረበ።

¹Now the feast of unleavened bread, which [is] called the passover, drew nigh,

²የካህናት አለቆችና ጻፎችም እንዴት እንዲያጠፉት ይፈልጉ ነበር፤ ሕዝቡን ይፈሩ ነበርና።

²and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.

³ሰይጣንም ከአሥራ ሁለቱ ቍጥር አንዱ በነበረው የአስቆሮቱ በሚባለው በይሁዳ ገባ፤

³And Satan entered into Judas, who was surnamed Iscariote, being of the number of the twelve.

⁴ሄዶም እንዴት አሳልፎ እንዲሰጣቸው ከካህናት አለቆችና ከመቅደስ አዛዦች ጋር ተነጋገረ።

⁴And he went away and spoke with the chief priests and captains as to how he should deliver him up to them.

⁵እነርሱም ደስ አላቸው፥ ገንዘብም ሊሰጡት ተዋዋሉ።

⁵And they were rejoiced, and agreed to give him money.

⁶እሺም አለ፥ ሕዝብም በሌለበት አሳልፎ እንዲሰጣቸው ምቹ ጊዜ ይፈልግ ነበር።

⁶And he came to an agreement to do it, and sought an opportunity to deliver him up to them away from the crowd.

⁷ፋሲካንም ሊያርዱበት የሚገባው የቂጣ በዓል ደረሰ፤

⁷And the day of unleavened bread came, in which the passover was to be killed.

⁸ጴጥሮስንና ዮሐንስንም። ፋሲካን እንድንበላ ሄዳችሁ አዘጋጁልን ብሎ ላካቸው።

⁸And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare the passover for us, that we may eat [it].

⁹እነርሱም። ወዴት እናዘጋጅ ዘንድ ትወዳለህ? አሉት።

⁹But they said to him, Where wilt thou that we prepare [it]?

¹⁰እርሱም አላቸው። እነሆ፥ ወደ ከተማ ስትገቡ ማድጋ ውኃ የተሸከመ ሰው ይገናኛችኋል፤ ወደ ሚገባበት ቤት ተከተሉት፤

¹⁰And he said to them, Behold, as ye enter into the city a man will meet you, carrying an earthen pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he goes in;

¹¹ለባለቤቱም። መምህሩ። ከደቀ መዛሙርቴ ጋር ፋሲካን የምበላበት የእንግዳ ቤት ክፍል ወዴት ነው? ይልሃል በሉት፤

¹¹and ye shall say to the master of the house, The Teacher says to thee, Where is the guest-chamber where I may eat the passover with my disciples?

¹²ያም በደርብ ላይ ያለውን የተነጠፈ ታላቅ አዳራሽ ያሳያችኋል፤ በዚያም አሰናዱልን።

¹²And *he* will shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.

¹³ሄደውም እንዳላቸው አገኙና ፋሲካን አሰናዱ።

¹³And having gone they found it as he had said to them; and they prepared the passover.

¹⁴ሰዓቱም በደረሰ ጊዜ ከአሥራ ሁለቱ ሐዋርያት ጋር በማዕድ ተቀመጠ።

¹⁴And when the hour was come, he placed himself at table, and the [twelve] apostles with him.

¹⁵እርሱም። ከመከራዬ በፊት ከእናንተ ጋር ይህን ፋሲካ ልበላ እጅግ እመኝ ነበር፤

¹⁵And he said to them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer.

¹⁶እላችኋለሁና፥ በእግዚአብሔር መንግሥት እስኪፈጸም ድረስ፥ ወደ ፊት ከዚህ አልበላም አላቸው።

¹⁶For I say unto you, that I will not eat any more at all of it until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

¹⁷ጽዋንም ተቀበለ አመስግኖም። ይህን እንካችሁ በመካከላችሁም ተካፈሉት፤

¹⁷And having received a cup, when he had given thanks he said, Take this and divide it among yourselves.

¹⁸እላችኋለሁና፥ የእግዚአብሔር መንግሥት እስክትመጣ ድረስ ከአሁን ጀምሮ ከወይኑ ፍሬ አልጠጣም አለ።

¹⁸For I say unto you, that I will not drink at all of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God come.

¹⁹እንጀራንም አንሥቶ አመሰገነ ቆርሶም ሰጣቸውና። ስለ እናንተ የሚሰጠው ሥጋዬ ይህ ነው፤ ይህን ለመታሰቢያዬ አድርጉት አለ።

¹⁹And having taken a loaf, when he had given thanks, he broke [it], and gave [it] to them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

²⁰እንዲሁም ከእራት በኋላ ጽዋውን አንሥቶ እንዲህ አለ። ይህ ጽዋ ስለ እናንተ በሚፈሰው በደሜ የሚሆን አዲስ ኪዳን ነው።

²⁰In like manner also the cup, after having supped, saying, This cup [is] the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

²¹ነገር ግን አሳልፎ የሚሰጠኝ እጅ እነሆ በማዕድ ከእኔ ጋር ናት።

²¹Moreover, behold, the hand of him that delivers me up [is] with me on the table;

²²የሰው ልጅስ እንደ ተወሰነው ይሄዳል፥ ነገር ግን አልፎ ለሚሰጥበት ለዚያ ሰው ወዮለት።

²²and the Son of man indeed goes as it is determined, but woe unto that man by whom he is delivered up.

²³ከእነርሱም ይህን ሊያደርግ ያለው ማን እንደ ሆነ እርስ በርሳቸው ይጠያየቁ ጀመር።

²³And *they* began to question together among themselves who then it could be of them who was about to do this.

²⁴ደግሞም ማናቸውም ታላቅ ሆኖ እንዲቈጠር በመካከላቸው ክርክር ሆነ።

²⁴And there was also a strife among them which of them should be held to be [the] greatest.

²⁵እንዲህም አላቸው። የአሕዛብ ነገሥታት ይገዙአቸዋል፥ በላያቸውም የሚሠለጥኑት ቸርነት አድራጊዎች ይባላሉ።

²⁵And he said to them, The kings of the nations rule over them, and they that exercise authority over them are called benefactors.

²⁶እናንተ ግን እንዲህ አትሁኑ፤ ነገር ግን ከእናንተ ታላቅ የሆነ በመካከላችሁ እንደ ታናሽ፥ የሚገዛም እንደሚያገለግል ይሁን።

²⁶But *ye* [shall] not [be] thus; but let the greater among you be as the younger, and the leader as he that serves.

²⁷በማዕድ የተቀመጠ ወይስ የሚያገለግል ማናቸው ታላቅ ነው? የተቀመጠው አይደለምን? እኔ ግን በመካከላችሁ እንደሚያገለግል ነኝ።

²⁷For which [is] greater, he that is at table or he that serves? [Is] not he that is at table? But *I* am in the midst of you as the one that serves.

²⁸ነገር ግን እናንተ በፈተናዎቼ ከእኔ ጋር ጸንታችሁ የኖራችሁ ናችሁ፤

²⁸But *ye* are they who have persevered with me in my temptations.

²⁹አባቴ እኔን እንደ ሾመኝ እኔ ደግሞ በመንግሥቴ ከማዕዴ ትበሉና ትጠጡ ዘንድ፥ በአሥራ ሁለቱ በእስራኤል ነገድ ስትፈርዱ በዙፋኖች ትቀመጡ ዘንድ ለመንግሥት እሾማችኋለሁ።

²⁹And *I* appoint unto you, as my Father has appointed unto me, a kingdom,

³¹ጌታም። ስምዖን ስምዖን ሆይ፥ እነሆ፥ ሰይጣን እንደ ስንዴ ሊያበጥራችሁ ለመነ፤

³⁰that ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

³²እኔ ግን እምነትህ እንዳይጠፋ ስለ አንተ አማለድሁ፤ አንተም በተመለስህ ጊዜ ወንድሞችህን አጽና አለ።

³¹And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded to have you, to sift [you] as wheat;

³³እርሱም። ጌታ ሆይ፥ ወደ ወኅኒም ወደ ሞትም ከአንተ ጋር ለመሄድ የተዘጋጀሁ ነኝ አለው።

³²but *I* have besought for thee that thy faith fail not; and *thou*, when once thou hast been restored, confirm thy brethren.

³⁴እርሱ ግን። ጴጥሮስ ሆይ፥ እልሃለሁ፥ እንዳታውቀኝ ሦስት ጊዜ እስክትክደኝ ድረስ ዛሬ ዶሮ አይጮኽም አለው።

³³And he said to him, Lord, with thee I am ready to go both to prison and to death.

³⁵ደግሞም። ያለ ኮረጆና ያለ ከረጢት ያለ ጫማም በላክኋችሁ ጊዜ፥ አንዳች ጐደለባችሁን? አላቸው። እነርሱም። አንዳች እንኳ አሉ።

³⁴And he said, I tell thee, Peter, [the] cock shall not crow to-day before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.

³⁶እርሱም። አሁን ግን ኮረጆ ያለው ከእርሱ ጋር ይውሰድ፥ ከረጢትም ያለው እንዲሁ፤ የሌለውም ልብሱን ሽጦ ሰይፍ ይግዛ።

³⁵And he said to them, When I sent you without purse and scrip and sandals, did ye lack anything? And they said, Nothing.

³⁷እላችኋለሁና፥ ይህ። ከዓመፀኞች ጋር ተቈጠረ ተብሎ የተጻፈው በእኔ ሊፈጸም ግድ ነው፤ አዎን፥ ስለ እኔ የሚሆነው አሁን ይፈጸማልና አላቸው።

³⁶He said therefore to them, But now he that has a purse let him take [it], in like manner also a scrip, and he that has none let him sell his garment and buy a sword;

³⁸እነርሱም። ጌታ ሆይ፥ እነሆ፥ በዚህ ሁለት ሰይፎች አሉ አሉት። እርሱም። ይበቃል አላቸው።

³⁷for I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned with [the] lawless: for also the things concerning me have an end.

³⁹ወጥቶም እንደ ልማዱ ወደ ደብረ ዘይት ሄደ፤ ደቀ መዛሙርቱም ደግሞ ተከተሉት።

³⁸And they said, Lord, behold here are two swords. And he said to them, It is enough.

⁴⁰ወደ ስፍራውም ደርሶ። ወደ ፈተና እንዳትገቡ ጸልዩ አላቸው።

³⁹And going forth he went according to his custom to the mount of Olives, and the disciples also followed him.

⁴¹ከእነርሱም የድንጋይ ውርወራ የሚያህል ራቀ፥ ተንበርክኮም። አባት ሆይ፥

⁴⁰And when he was at the place he said to them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.

⁴²ብትፈቅድ ይህችን ጽዋ ከእኔ ውሰድ፤ ነገር ግን የእኔ ፈቃድ አይሁን የአንተ እንጂ እያለ ይጸልይ ነበር።

⁴¹And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's throw, and having knelt down he prayed,

⁴³ከሰማይም መጥቶ የሚያበረታ መልአክ ታየው።

⁴²saying, Father, if thou wilt remove this cup from me: -- but then, not my will, but thine be done.

⁴⁴በፍርሃትም ሲጣጣር አጽንቶ ይጸልይ ነበር፤ ወዙም በምድር ላይ እንደሚወርድ እንደ ደም ነጠብጣብ ነበረ።

⁴³And an angel appeared to him from heaven strengthening him.

⁴⁵ከጸሎትም ተነሥቶ ወደ ደቀ መዛሙርቱ መጣና ከኀዘን የተነሣ ተኝተው ሲያገኛቸው።

⁴⁴And being in conflict he prayed more intently. And his sweat became as great drops of blood, falling down upon the earth.

⁴⁶ስለ ምን ትተኛላችሁ? ወደ ፈተና እንዳትገቡ ተነሥታችሁ ጸልዩ አላቸው።

⁴⁵And rising up from his prayer, coming to the disciples, he found them sleeping from grief.

⁴⁷ገናም ሲናገር እነሆ፥ ሰዎች መጡ፤ ከአሥራ ሁለቱ አንዱም ይሁዳ የሚባለው ይቀድማቸው ነበር፥ ሊስመውም ወደ ኢየሱስ ቀረበ።

⁴⁶And he said to them, Why sleep ye? rise up and pray that ye enter not into temptation.

⁴⁸ኢየሱስ ግን። ይሁዳ ሆይ፥ በመሳም የሰውን ልጅ አሳልፈህ ትሰጣለህን? አለው።

⁴⁷As he was yet speaking, behold, a crowd, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went on before them, and drew near to Jesus to kiss him.

⁴⁹በዙሪያውም የነበሩት የሚሆነውን ባዩ ጊዜ። ጌታ ሆይ፥ በሰይፍ እንምታቸውን? አሉት።

⁴⁸And Jesus said to him, Judas, deliverest thou up the Son of man with a kiss?

⁵⁰ከእነርሱም አንዱ የሊቀ ካህናቱን ባሪያ መትቶ ቀኝ ጆሮውን ቈረጠው።

⁴⁹And they who were around him, seeing what was going to follow, said [to him], Lord, shall we smite with [the] sword?

⁵¹ኢየሱስ ግን መልሶ። ይህንስ ፍቀዱ አለ፤ ጆሮውንም ዳስሶ ፈወሰው።

⁵⁰And a certain one from among them smote the bondman of the high priest and took off his right ear.

⁵²ኢየሱስም ወደ እርሱ ለመጡበት ለካህናት አለቆችና ለመቅደስ አዛዦች ለሽማግሌዎችም። ወንበዴን እንደምትይዙ ሰይፍና ጐመድ ይዛችሁ ወጣችሁን?

⁵¹And Jesus answering said, Suffer thus far; and having touched his ear, he healed him.

⁵³በመቅደስ ዕለት ዕለት ከእናንተ ጋር ስሆን እጆቻችሁን አልዘረጋችሁብኝም፤ ይህ ግን ጊዜያችሁና የጨለማው ሥልጣን ነው አላቸው።

⁵²And Jesus said to the chief priests and captains of the temple and elders, who were come against him, Have ye come out as against a robber with swords and sticks?

⁵⁴ይዘውም ወሰዱት ወደ ሊቀ ካህናት ቤትም አገቡት፤ ጴጥሮስም ርቆ ይከተለው ነበር።

⁵³When I was day by day with you in the temple ye did not stretch out your hands against me; but this is your hour and the power of darkness.

⁵⁵በግቢ መካከልም እሳት አንድደው በአንድነት ተቀምጠው ሳሉ ጴጥሮስ በመካከላቸው ተቀመጠ።

⁵⁴And having laid hold on him, they led him [away], and they led [him] into the house of the high priest. And Peter followed afar off.

⁵⁶በብርሃኑም በኩል ተቀምጦ ሳለ አንዲት ገረድ አየችውና ትኵር ብላ። ይህ ደግሞ ከእርሱ ጋር ነበረ አለች።

⁵⁵And they having lit a fire in the midst of the court and sat down together, Peter sat among them.

⁵⁷እርሱ ግን። አንቺ ሴት፥ አላውቀውም ብሎ ካደ።

⁵⁶And a certain maid, having seen him sitting by the light, and having fixed her eyes upon him, said, And this [man] was with him.

⁵⁸ከጥቂት ጊዜም በኋላ ሌላው አይቶት። አንተ ደግሞ ከእነርሱ ወገን ነህ አለው። ጴጥሮስ ግን። አንተ ሰው፥ እኔ አይደለሁም አለ።

⁵⁷But he denied [him], saying, Woman, I do not know him.

⁵⁹አንድ ሰዓትም የሚያህል ቆይቶ ሌላው አስረግጦ። እርሱ የገሊላ ሰው ነውና በእውነት ይህ ደግሞ ከእርሱ ጋር ነበረ አለ።

⁵⁸And after a short time another seeing him said, And *thou* art of them. But Peter said, Man, I am not.

⁶⁰ጴጥሮስ ግን። አንተ ሰው፥ የምትለውን አላውቅም አለ። ያን ጊዜም ገና ሲናገር ዶሮ ጮኸ።

⁵⁹And after the lapse of about one hour another stoutly maintained it, saying, In truth this [man] also was with him, for also he is a Galilaean.

⁶¹ጌታም ዘወር ብሎ ጴጥሮስን ተመለከተው፤ ጴጥሮስም። ዛሬ ዶሮ ሳይጮኽ ሦስት ጊዜ ትክደኛለህ እንዳለው የጌታ ቃል ትዝ አለው።

⁶⁰And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he was yet speaking, [the] cock crew.

⁶²ጴጥሮስም ወደ ውጭ ወጥቶ ምርር ብሎ አለቀሰ።

⁶¹And the Lord, turning round, looked at Peter; and Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he said to him, Before [the] cock crow thou shalt deny me thrice.

⁶³ኢየሱስንም የያዙት ሰዎች ይዘብቱበትና ይደበድቡት ነበር፤

⁶²And Peter, going forth without, wept bitterly.

⁶⁴ሸፍነውም ፊቱን ይመቱት ነበርና። በጥፊ የመታህ ማን ነው? ትንቢት ተናገር እያሉ ይጠይቁት ነበር።

⁶³And the men who held him mocked him, beating [him];

⁶⁵ሌላም ብዙ ነገር እየተሳደቡ በእርሱ ላይ ይናገሩ ነበር።

⁶⁴and covering him up, asked him saying, Prophesy, who is it that struck thee?

⁶⁶በነጋም ጊዜ የሕዝቡ ሽማግሌዎችና የካህናት አለቆች ጻፎችም ተሰብስበው ወደ ሸንጎአቸው ወሰዱትና

⁶⁵And they said many other injurious things to him.

⁶⁷ክርስቶስ አንተ ነህን? ንገረን አሉት። እርሱ ግን እንዲህ አላቸው። ብነግራችሁ አታምኑም፤

⁶⁶And when it was day, the elderhood of the people, both [the] chief priests and scribes, were gathered together, and led him into their council, saying,

⁶⁸ብጠይቅም አትመልሱልኝም አትፈቱኝምም።

⁶⁷If *thou* art the Christ, tell us. And he said to them, If I tell you, ye will not at all believe;

⁶⁹ነገር ግን ከአሁን ጀምሮ የሰው ልጅ በእግዚአብሔር ኃይል ቀኝ ይቀመጣል።

⁶⁸and if I should ask [you], ye would not answer me at all, nor let me go;

⁷⁰ሁላቸውም። እንግዲያስ አንተ የእግዚአብሔር ልጅ ነህን? አሉት። እርሱም። እኔ እንደ ሆንሁ እናንተ ትላላችሁ አላቸው።

⁶⁹but henceforth shall the Son of man be sitting on the right hand of the power of God.

⁷¹እነርሱም። ራሳችን ከአፉ ሰምተናልና ከእንግዲህ ወዲህ ምን ምስክር ያስፈልገናል? አሉ።

⁷⁰And they all said, *Thou* then art the Son of God? And he said to them, *Ye* say that I am.

⁷¹And they said, What need have we any more of witness, for we have heard ourselves out of his mouth?
