1وملك الملك صدقيا بن يوشيا مكان كنياهو بن يهوياقيم الذي ملكه نبوخذراصر ملك بابل في ارض يهوذا.
1And king Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon having made him king in the land of Judah.
2ولم يسمع هو ولا عبيده ولا شعب الارض لكلام الرب الذي تكلم به عن يد ارميا النبي.
2And neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, hearkened unto the words of Jehovah, which he had spoken through the prophet Jeremiah.
3وارسل الملك صدقيا يهوخل بن شلميا وصفنيا بن معسيا الكاهن الى ارميا النبي قائلا صلّ لاجلنا الى الرب الهنا.
3And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now unto Jehovah our God for us.
4وكان ارميا يدخل ويخرج في وسط الشعب اذ لم يكونوا قد جعلوه في بيت السجن.
4And Jeremiah came in and went out among the people; for they had not put him into prison.
5وخرج جيش فرعون من مصر. فلما سمع الكلدانيون المحاصرون اورشليم بخبرهم صعدوا عن اورشليم
5And Pharaoh's army was come forth out of Egypt; and when the Chaldeans that besieged Jerusalem heard tidings of them, they went up from Jerusalem.
6فصارت كلمة الرب الى ارميا النبي قائلة
6And the word of Jehovah came unto Jeremiah the prophet, saying,
7هكذا قال الرب اله اسرائيل هكذا تقولون لملك يهوذا الذي ارسلكم اليّ لتستشيروني. ها ان جيش فرعون الخارج اليكم لمساعدتكم يرجع الى ارضه الى مصر.
7Thus saith Jehovah the God of Israel: Thus shall ye say to the king of Judah, that sent you unto me to inquire of me: Behold, Pharaoh's army, which is come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own land.
8ويرجع الكلدانيون ويحاربون هذه المدينة وياخذونها ويحرقونها بالنار.
8And the Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city, and take it, and burn it with fire.
9هكذا قال الرب. لا تخدعوا انفسكم قائلين ان الكلدانيين سيذهبون عنا لانهم لا يذهبون.
9Thus saith Jehovah: Deceive not yourselves, saying, The Chaldeans are certainly gone away from us; for they are not gone.
10لانكم وان ضربتم كل جيش الكلدانيين الذين يحاربونكم وبقي منهم رجال قد طعنوا فانهم يقومون كل واحد في خيمته ويحرقون هذه المدينة بالنار
10For though ye had smitten the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there remained [but] wounded men among them, [yet] should they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire.
11وكان لما أصعد جيش الكلدانيين عن اورشليم من وجه جيش فرعون
11And it came to pass when the army of the Chaldeans was gone up from Jerusalem because of Pharaoh's army,
12ان ارميا خرج من اورشليم لينطلق الى ارض بنيامين لينساب من هناك في وسط الشعب.
12that Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to have his portion there among the people.
13وفيما هو في باب بنيامين اذا هناك ناظر الحراس اسمه يرئيا بن شلميا بن حننيا فقبض على ارميا النبي قائلا انك تقع للكلدانيين.
13And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the guard was there whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he laid hold on the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Thou art deserting to the Chaldeans.
14فقال ارميا كذب. لا اقع للكلدانيين. ولم يسمع له فقبض يرئيا على ارميا وأتى به الى الرؤساء.
14And Jeremiah said, It is false: I am not deserting to the Chaldeans. But he hearkened not to him; and Irijah laid hold on Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.
15فغضب الرؤساء على ارميا وضربوه وجعلوه في بيت السجن في بيت يوناثان الكاتب لانهم جعلوه بيت السجن.
15And the princes were wroth with Jeremiah, and smote him, and put him in the place of confinement in the house of Jonathan the scribe: for they had made that the prison.
16فلما دخل ارميا الى بيت الجب والى المقببات اقام ارميا هناك اياما كثيرة.
16When Jeremiah was come into the dungeon and into the vaults, and Jeremiah had remained there many days,
17ثم ارسل الملك صدقيا واخذه وسأله الملك في بيته سرا وقال هل توجد كلمة من قبل الرب. فقال ارميا توجد. فقال انك تدفع ليد ملك بابل.
17king Zedekiah sent and took him out. And the king asked of him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from Jehovah? And Jeremiah said, There is; and he said, Thou shalt be given into the hand of the king of Babylon.
18ثم قال ارميا للملك صدقيا ما هي خطيتي اليك والى عبيدك والى هذا الشعب حتى جعلتموني في بيت السجن.
18And Jeremiah said unto king Zedekiah, What have I offended against thee, or against thy servants, or against this people, that ye have put me in the prison?
19فاين انبياؤكم الذين تنبأوا لكم قائلين لا ياتي ملك بابل عليكم ولا على هذه الارض.
19And where are your prophets that prophesied unto you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?
20فالآن اسمع يا سيدي الملك. ليقع تضرعي امامك ولا تردني الى بيت يوناثان الكاتب فلا اموت هناك.
20And now hear, I pray thee, my lord, O king: let my supplication, I pray thee, come before thee; and cause me not to return into the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.
21فامر الملك صدقيا ان يضعوا ارميا في دار السجن وان يعطى رغيف خبز كل يوم من سوق الخبازين حتى ينفد كل الخبز من المدينة. فاقام ارميا في دار السجن
21Then Zedekiah the king commanded, and they committed Jeremiah into the court of the guard, and they gave him daily a loaf of bread out of the bakers' street, until all the bread in the city was spent. And Jeremiah abode in the court of the guard.
