1ولما سمع الكنعاني ملك عراد الساكن في الجنوب ان اسرائيل جاء في طريق اتاريم حارب اسرائيل وسبى منهم سبيا.
1The Canaanite, the king of Arad, who lived in the South, heard tell that Israel came by the way of Atharim; and he fought against Israel, and took some of them captive.
2فنذر اسرائيل نذرا للرب وقال ان دفعت هؤلاء القوم الى يدي احرّم مدنهم.
2Israel vowed a vow to Yahweh, and said, “If you will indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.”
3فسمع الرب لقول اسرائيل ودفع الكنعانيين فحرموهم ومدنهم. فدعي اسم المكان حرمة
3Yahweh listened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities: and the name of the place was called Hormah.
4وارتحلوا من جبل هور في طريق بحر سوف ليدوروا بارض ادوم فضاقت نفس الشعب في الطريق.
4They traveled from Mount Hor by the way to the Red Sea or, Sea of Reeds , to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way.
5وتكلم الشعب على الله وعلى موسى قائلين لماذا اصعدتمانا من مصر لنموت في البرية لانه لا خبز ولا ماء وقد كرهت انفسنا الطعام السخيف.
5The people spoke against God, and against Moses, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, and there is no water; and our soul loathes this light bread.”
6فارسل الرب على الشعب الحيّات المحرقة فلدغت الشعب فمات قوم كثيرون من اسرائيل.
6Yahweh sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and many people of Israel died.
7فاتى الشعب الى موسى وقالوا قد اخطأنا اذ تكلمنا على الرب وعليك فصل الى الرب ليرفع عنا الحيّات. فصلى موسى لاجل الشعب.
7The people came to Moses, and said, “We have sinned, because we have spoken against Yahweh, and against you. Pray to Yahweh, that he take away the serpents from us.” Moses prayed for the people.
8فقال الرب لموسى اصنع لك حية محرقة وضعها على راية فكل من لدغ ونظر اليها يحيا.
8Yahweh said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a standard: and it shall happen, that everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.”
9فصنع موسى حية من نحاس ووضعها على الراية فكان متى لدغت حية انسانا ونظر الى حية النحاس يحيا
9Moses made a serpent of brass, and set it on the standard: and it happened, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked to the serpent of brass, he lived.
10وارتحل بنو اسرائيل ونزلوا في اوبوت.
10The children of Israel traveled, and encamped in Oboth.
11وارتحلوا من اوبوت ونزلوا في عيّي عباريم في البرية التي قبالة موآب الى شروق الشمس.
11They traveled from Oboth, and encamped at Iyeabarim, in the wilderness which is before Moab, toward the sunrise.
12من هناك ارتحلوا ونزلوا في وادي زارد.
12From there they traveled, and encamped in the valley of Zered.
13من هناك ارتحلوا ونزلوا في عبر ارنون الذي في البرية خارجا عن تخم الاموريين. لان ارنون هو تخم موآب بين موآب والاموريين.
13From there they traveled, and encamped on the other side of the Arnon, which is in the wilderness, that comes out of the border of the Amorites: for the Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.
14لذلك يقال في كتاب حروب الرب واهب في سوفة واودية ارنون
14Therefore it is said in the book of the Wars of Yahweh, “Vaheb in Suphah, the valleys of the Arnon,
15ومصب الاودية الذي مال الى مسكن عار واستند الى تخم موآب
15the slope of the valleys that incline toward the dwelling of Ar, leans on the border of Moab.”
16ومن هناك الى بئر. وهي البئر حيث قال الرب لموسى اجمع الشعب فاعطيهم ماء.
16From there they traveled to Beer: that is the well of which Yahweh said to Moses, “Gather the people together, and I will give them water.”
17حينئذ ترنم اسرائيل بهذا النشيد. اصعدي ايتها البئر اجيبوا لها.
17Then sang Israel this song: “Spring up, well; sing to it:
18بئر حفرها رؤساء حفرها شرفاء الشعب بصولجان بعصيّهم. ومن البرية الى متّانة
18the well, which the princes dug, which the nobles of the people dug, with the scepter, and with their poles.” From the wilderness they traveled to Mattanah;
19ومن متّانة الى نحليئيل ومن نحليئيل الى باموت
19and from Mattanah to Nahaliel; and from Nahaliel to Bamoth;
20ومن باموت الى الجواء التي في صحراء موآب عند راس الفسجة التي تشرف على وجه البرية
20and from Bamoth to the valley that is in the field of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looks down on the desert.
21وارسل اسرائيل رسلا الى سيحون ملك الاموريين قائلا
21Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, saying,
22دعني امرّ في ارضك. لا نميل الى حقل ولا الى كرم ولا نشرب ماء بئر. في طريق الملك نمشي حتى نتجاوز تخومك.
22“Let me pass through your land: we will not turn aside into field, or into vineyard; we will not drink of the water of the wells: we will go by the king’s highway, until we have passed your border.”
23فلم يسمح سيحون لاسرائيل بالمرور في تخومه بل جمع سيحون جميع قومه وخرج للقاء اسرائيل الى البرية فأتى الى ياهص وحارب اسرائيل.
23Sihon would not allow Israel to pass through his border: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness, and came to Jahaz; and he fought against Israel.
24فضربه اسرائيل بحد السيف وملك ارضه من ارنون الى يبّوق الى بني عمون. لان تخم بني عمون كان قويا.
24Israel struck him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, even to the children of Ammon; for the border of the children of Ammon was strong.
25فاخذ اسرائيل كل هذه المدن واقام اسرائيل في جميع مدن الاموريين في حشبون وفي كل قراها.
25Israel took all these cities: and Israel lived in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all its towns.
26لان حشبون كانت مدينة سيحون ملك الاموريين وكان قد حارب ملك موآب الاول واخذ كل ارضه من يده حتى ارنون.
26For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even to the Arnon.
27لذلك يقول اصحاب الامثال. ايتوا الى حشبون فتبنى وتصلح مدينة سيحون.
27Therefore those who speak in proverbs say, “Come to Heshbon. Let the city of Sihon be built and established;
28لان نارا خرجت من حشبون. لهيبا من قرية سيحون. اكلت عار موآب. اهل مرتفعات ارنون.
28for a fire has gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon. It has devoured Ar of Moab, The lords of the high places of the Arnon.
29ويل لك يا موآب. هلكت يا امة كموش. قد صيّر بنيه هاربين وبناته في السبي لملك الاموريين سيحون.
29Woe to you, Moab! You are undone, people of Chemosh! He has given his sons as fugitives, and his daughters into captivity, to Sihon king of the Amorites.
30لكن قد رميناهم. هلكت حشبون الى ديبون. واخربنا الى نوفح التي الى ميدبا
30We have shot at them. Heshbon has perished even to Dibon. We have laid waste even to Nophah, Which reaches to Medeba.”
31فاقام اسرائيل في ارض الاموريين.
31Thus Israel lived in the land of the Amorites.
32وارسل موسى ليتجسّس يعزير فأخذوا قراها وطردوا الاموريين الذين هناك.
32Moses sent to spy out Jazer; and they took its towns, and drove out the Amorites who were there.
33ثم تحوّلوا وصعدوا في طريق باشان. فخرج عوج ملك باشان للقائهم هو وجميع قومه الى الحرب في اذرعي.
33They turned and went up by the way of Bashan: and Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.
34فقال الرب لموسى لا تخف منه لاني قد دفعته الى يدك مع جميع قومه وارضه. فتفعل به كما فعلت بسيحون ملك الاموريين الساكن في حشبون.
34Yahweh said to Moses, “Don’t fear him: for I have delivered him into your hand, and all his people, and his land; and you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.”
35فضربوه وبنيه وجميع قومه حتى لم يبق له شارد وملكوا ارضه
35So they struck him, and his sons and all his people, until there was none left him remaining: and they possessed his land.
