¹For I would not, brethren, have you ignorant, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

¹Kay dili ako buot, mga igsoon, nga dili ninyo hibaloan nga ang tanan natong mga ginikanan didto sa ilalum sa panganod, ug silang tanan milatas sa taliwala sa dagat.

²and were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

²Ug ang tanan kang Moises gibautismohan didto sa panganod ug didto sa dagat.

³and did all eat the same spiritual food;

³Ug ang tanan nangaon sa mao gayud nga kalan-on nga espirituhanon.

⁴and did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of a spiritual rock that followed them: and the rock was Christ.

⁴Ug yang tanan nanginum sa mao gayud nga ilimnon nga espirituhanon, kay nanginum sila gikan sa usa ka bato nga espirituhanon nga nagsunod kanila, ug ang bato mao si Cristo.

⁵Howbeit with most of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

⁵Apan sa kadaghanan kanila wala mahamuot ang Dios; kay gipanglaglag sila didto sa kamingawan.

⁶Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

⁶Karon kining mga butanga nahimong mga panig-ingnan alang kanato sa tuyo nga kita dili unta maibug sa dautang mga butang sama usab sa pagkaibug nila.

⁷Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

⁷Dili kamo managsimba sa mga diosdios sama sa uban kanila, ingon sa nahasulat: Milingkod ang katawohan sa pagkaon ug sa pag-inum, ug nanindog sila sa paghudyaka.

⁸Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

⁸Dili kita makighilawas sama sa uban kanila nga nakighilawas, ug sa usa ka adlaw nangahulog ang kaluhaan ug tolo ka libo.

⁹Neither let us make trial of the Lord, as some of them made trial, and perished by the serpents.

⁹Dili nato pagtintalon ang Ginoo, sama sa uban kanila nga nagtintal, ug gilaglag sila pinaagi sa mga bitin.

¹⁰Neither murmur ye, as some of them murmured, and perished by the destroyer.

¹⁰Dili kamo magbagulbol, ingon nga ang uban kanila nanagbagulbol, ug gilaglag sila pinaagi sa maglalaglag.

¹¹Now these things happened unto them by way of example; and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages are come.

¹¹Karon ngatanan kining mga butanga nanghitabo kanila sa paagi aron mapanig-ingnan nila; ug gisulat sila sa pagtambag kanato, kay kanato miabut ang katapusan sa mga panahon sa kalibutan.

¹²Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

¹²Busa ang nagahunahuna nga nagatindog siya magmatngon aron dili siya mapukan.

¹³There hath no temptation taken you but such as man can bear: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation make also the way of escape, that ye may be able to endure it.

¹³Walay bisan unsa nga panulay nga miabut kaninyo kondili kadto nga maantus sa tawo; apan ang Dios matinumanon, nga dili motugot nga panulayon kamo sa labaw sa inyong maarangan; kondili uban sa panulay, magahatag usab siya ug lutsanan aron kamo makahimo sa pag-antus.

¹⁴Wherefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.

¹⁴Busa, mga hinigugma ko, pangalagiw kamo gikan sa pagsimba sa mga diosdios.

¹⁵I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.

¹⁵Nagasulti ako kaninyo ingon nga sa mga maalam kamo; hukmi ninyo ang akong giingon.

¹⁶The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not a communion of the body of Christ?

¹⁶Ang copa sa panalangin nga ginapanalanginan nato, dili ba mao ang usa ka pagpakig-ambit sa dugo ni Cristo? Ang tinapay nga gitipiktipik nato, dili ba mao ang usa ka pagpakig-ambit sa lawas ni Cristo?

¹⁷seeing that we, who are many, are one bread, one body: for we are all partake of the one bread.

¹⁷Sanglit kay kita daghan, usa kita ka tinapay, usa ka lawas; kay kitang tanan nagapakig-ambit niadtong usa ka tinapay.

¹⁸Behold Israel after the flesh: have not they that eat the sacrifices communion with the altar?

¹⁸Tan-awa ninyo ang Israel ingon sa unod: ang mga nangaon sa mga gihalad, wala ba sila mag-umalambit sa halaran?

¹⁹What say I then? that a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?

¹⁹Busa unsay giingon ko? Ang butang nga hinalad sa mga diosdios may bili? Kun ang diosdios may bili ba?

²⁰But [I say], that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have communion with demons.

²⁰Apan giingon ko, nga ang ginahalad sa mga Gentil, ginahalad nila sa mga yawa, ug dili sa Dios; ug dili ako buot unta nga mag-umalambit kamo sa mga yawa.

²¹Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of demons: ye cannot partake of the table of the Lord, and of the table of demons.

²¹Kamo dili arang makainum sa copa sa Ginoo, ug sa tagayan sa mga yawa: kamo dili arang makaambit sa lamesa sa Ginoo, ug sa lamesa sa mga yawa.

²²Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

²²Kun gihagit ba nato ang Ginoo sa pangabugho? Labi pa ba kitang makusganon kay kaniya?

²³All things are lawful; but not all things are expedient. All things are lawful; but not all things edify.

²³Ang tanang mga butang gitugot, apan dili ang tanan mapuslanon. Ang tanang mga butang gitugot, apan dili ang tanan nagapalig-on.

²⁴Let no man seek his own, but [each] his neighbor's [good].

²⁴Hinaut unta nga walay bisan kinsa nga magapangita sa iyang kaugalingong kaayohan, kondili sa kaayohan sa iyang isigkatawo.

²⁵Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, eat, asking no question for conscience' sake,

²⁵Pangaon kamo sa tanan nga ginabaligya sa tiyanggi, sa walay bisan unsa nga pagsusi tungod sa kaisipan.

²⁶for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof.

²⁶Kay iya sa Ginoo ang yuta ug ang kahupnganan niini.

²⁷If one of them that believe not biddeth you [to a feast], and ye are disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience' sake.

²⁷Kong ang uban sa mga dili matinohoon magadapit kaninyo sa usa ka kombira, ug kamo moadto, kan-a ang tanan nga igabutang sa inyong atubangan, sa walay bisan unsa nga pagsusi tungod sa kaisipan.

²⁸But if any man say unto you, This hath been offered in sacrifice, eat not, for his sake that showed it, and for conscience sake:

²⁸Apan kong may uban magaingon kaninyo: Kini hinalad sa mga diosdios, dili kamo mangaon tungod niadtong nagahisgut niini, ug tungod sa kaisipan; kay iya sa Ginoo ang yuta ug ang kahupnganan niini.

²⁹conscience, I say, not thine own, but the other's; for why is my liberty judged by another conscience?

²⁹Ang kaisipan, ginaingon ko, dili ang imo, kondili ang iya sa usa. Kay nganong pagahukman ang akong kagawasan sa kaisipan sa uban?

³⁰If I partake with thankfulness, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?

³⁰Kong ako nakaambit, uban ang pagpasalamat, nganong ginapasipalahan ako tungod sa akong ginapasalamatan?

³¹Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

³¹Busa, kong mangaon kamo, kun manginum, kun bisan unsa ang inyong pagabuhaton, buhaton ninyo ang tanan alang sa himaya sa Dios.

³²Give no occasions of stumbling, either to Jews, or to Greeks, or to the church of God:

³²Dili kamo maghatag ug kahigayonan sa pagkapangdol, bisan sa mga Judio, kun sa mga Gentil, kun sa iglesia sa Dios:

³³even as I also please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the [profit] of the many, that they may be saved.

³³Ingon nga ako usab nagapahamuot sa tanang tawo sa tanang mga butang, sa walay pagpangita sa akong kaugalingong kapuslanan, kondili sa kapuslanan sa daghan aron mangaluwas sila.
