¹Forasmuch then as Christ suffered in the flesh, arm ye yourselves also with the same mind; for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

¹Ingon nga si Cristo nag-antus sa unod tungod kanato, magsangkap usab kamo sa inyong mga kaugalingon sa mao nga hunahuna; kay siya nga nag-antus diha sa unod, mihunong sa pagpakasala;

²that ye no longer should live the rest of your time in flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

²Aron dili na kamo magpuyo sa panahon nga nahabilin diha sa unod, alang sa mga kailibgon sa mga tawo, kondili alang sa kabubut-on sa Dios.

³For the time past may suffice to have wrought the desire of the Gentiles, and to have walked in lasciviousness, lusts, winebibbings, revellings, carousings, and abominable idolatries:

³Kay igo na ang miaging panahon nga gituman alang sa kabubut-on sa mga Gentil, ug gikinabuhi alang sa mga kalaw-ayan, sa mga kailibgon, sa mga pag-inum sa vino, sa mga hudyaka sa kombira, sa mga paghuboghubog, ug sa mga mahugaw nga pagsimba sa mga dios-dios:

⁴wherein they think strange that ye run not with [them] into the same excess of riot, speaking evil of [of]:

⁴Nga niana gihunahuna nga kahibulongan nga kamo wala modalagan uban kanila ngadto sa hilabihan nga pagkangil-ad, nga nagasulti ug dautan mahitungod kaninyo.

⁵who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead.

⁵Nga magahatag ug husay niadtong andam sa paghukom sa mga buhi ug sa mga minatay.

⁶For unto this end was the gospel preached even to the dead, that they might be judged indeed according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

⁶Kay, tungod niini giwali ang Maayong Balita ngadto sa mga nangamatay, aron mahukman gayud sila ingon nga mga tawo diha sa unod, apan magkinabuhi uyon sa Dios diha sa Espiritu.

⁷But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore of sound mind, and be sober unto prayer:

⁷Apan ang katapusan sa tanang mga butang haduol na; busa, magbaton kamo ug mahusay nga hunahuna, ug magbuotan kamo ngadto sa pag-ampo.

⁸above all things being fervent in your love among yourselves; for love covereth a multitude of sins:

⁸Ug labaw sa tanan, magbaton kamo sa mainitong gugma sa taliwala ninyo; kay ang gugma nagatabon sa daghanan uyamut nga mga sala;

⁹using hospitality one to another without murmuring:

⁹Magmaabi-abihon kamo ang usa ug usa sa walay pagbagulbol:

¹⁰according as each hath received a gift, ministering it among yourselves, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God;

¹⁰Sumala sa nadawat nga hiyas sa tagsatagsa mag-inalagaray kamo niini sa taliwala ninyo, ingon nga mga maayong tinugyanan sa nagakalainlaing gracia sa Dios.

¹¹if any man speaketh, [speaking] as it were oracles of God; is any man ministereth, [ministering] as of the strength which God supplieth: that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, whose is the glory and the dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

¹¹Kong may tawo nga magasulti, magsulti siya ingon sa mga pulong sa Dios; kong may tawo nga magaalagad, mag-alagad siya ingon sa kusog nga gihatag sa Dios: aron sa tanang mga butang pagahimayaon ang Dios pinaagi kang Jesucristo, nga kaniya ang himaya ug ang kagamhanan sa mga katuigan nga walay katapusan. Amen.

¹²Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial among you, which cometh upon you to prove you, as though a strange thing happened unto you:

¹²Mga hinigugma, dili kamo mahibulong sa pagsulay nga ingon sa kalayo sa taliwala ninyo, nga mahatabo aron sa pagsulay kaninyo, ingon nga daw butang nga katingalahan ang mahitabo kaninyo.

¹³but insomuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory also ye may rejoice with exceeding joy.

¹³Apan sanglit kamo mga umalambit sa mga pag-antus ni Cristo, managkalipay kamo; aron nga sa pagpadayag sa iyang himaya, managkalipay usab kamo sa daku gayud nga kalipay.

¹⁴If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed [are ye]; because the [Spirit] of glory and the Spirit of God resteth upon you.

¹⁴Kong kamo gipasipalahan tungod sa ngalan ni Cristo, mga bulahan kamo; kay ang Espiritu sa himaya, ug ang Espiritu sa Dios anaa sa ibabaw ninyo.

¹⁵For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil-doer, or as a meddler in other men's matters:

¹⁵Ayaw pag-itugot nga may bisan kinsa kaninyo nga pagsakiton ingon nga usa ka mamumuno, kun kawatan, kun magbubuhat sa kadautan, kun mahilabtanon sa mga butang sa ubang tawo.

¹⁶but if [a man suffer] as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this name.

¹⁶Apan kong may tawo nga pagsakiton ingon nga Cristohanon, dili unta magakaulaw siya; kondili, himayaon niya ang Dios niini nga ngalan.

¹⁷For the time [is come] for judgment to begin at the house of God: and if [it begin] first at us, what [shall be] the end of them that obey not the gospel of God?

¹⁷Kay ang panahon miabut nga pagasugdan ang paghukom sa balay sa Dios: ug kong kini magasugod pag-una kanato, unsay katapusan niadtong mga dili masinugtanon sa Maayong Balita sa Dios?

¹⁸And if the righteous is scarcely saved, where shall the ungodly and sinner appear?

¹⁸Ug kong ang matarung halus mamaluwas, asa man magapadayag ang dili-diosnon ug ang makasasala?

¹⁹Wherefore let them also that suffer according to the will of God commit their souls in well-doing unto a faithful Creator.

¹⁹Busa ang mga nanag-antus sumala sa kabubut-on sa Dios, magtugyan sa ilang mga kalag diha sa maayong mga buhat ngadto sa matinumanon nga Magbubuhat.
