¹But the Spirit saith expressly, that in later times some shall fall away from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons,

¹Apan ang Espiritu nagaingon sa dayag, nga sa mga umalabut nga panahon, ang uban mangahulog gikan sa pagtoo, nga nagapatalinghug sa mga limbongan nga espiritu, ug sa mga pagtolon-an sa mga yawa;

²through the hypocrisy of men that speak lies, branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron;

²Pinaagi sa pagkasalingkapaw sa mga tawo nga nagasulti ug mga bakak, nga gipamasoan diha sa ilang kaisipan ingon sa usa ka binaga nga puthaw;

³forbidding to marry, [and commanding] to abstain from meats, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by them that believe and know the truth.

³Nga nagapugong sa pagpangasawa, ug nagasugo sa paglikay sa mga kalan-on nga gibuhat sa Dios, aron pagadawaton uban sa pagpasalamat nila nga mga mingtoo ug mga nakaila sa kamatuoran.

⁴For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it be received with thanksgiving:

⁴Kay ang tanan nga buhing binuhat sa Dios maayo, ug walay bisan unsa nga igasalikway, kong pagadawaton nga may pagpasalamat;

⁵for it is sanctified through the word of God and prayer.

⁵Kay kini gibalaan pinaagi sa pulong sa Dios, ug sa pag-ampo.

⁶If thou put the brethren in mind of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished in the words of the faith, and of the good doctrine which thou hast followed [until now]:

⁶Kong ikaw magapahanumdum sa mga igsoon niining mga butanga, mamahimo ikaw nga maayong ministro ni Jesucristo, nga gimatoto sa mga pulong sa pagtoo ug sa maayong pagtolon-an, nga ginasunod mo sa matul-id gayud hangtud karon;

⁷but refuse profane and old wives' fables. And exercise thyself unto godliness:

⁷Apan isalikway ang mga sugilanon nga kalibutanon, ug ila sa mga tigulang nga babaye. Ug magbansay ka sa pagka-diosnon:

⁸for bodily exercise is profitable for a little; but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life which now is, and of that which is to come.

⁸Kay ang mga pagbansay nga lawasnon, mapuslanon ug diyutay; apan ang pagka-diosnon, mapuslanon sa tanang mga butang; nga adunay saad niini karon nga kinabuhi, ug sa palaabuton.

⁹Faithful is the saying, and worthy of all acceptation.

⁹Pulong nga matinumanon ug takus gayud nga pagadawaton sa bug-os;

¹⁰For to this end we labor and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of them that believe.

¹⁰Kay tungod niini nga tuyo nagahago kita, ug nakigbisog kay milaum kita sa Dios nga buhi, nga mao ang Manluluwas sa tanang mga tawo, labi na gayud sa mga mingtoo.

¹¹These things command and teach.

¹¹Isugo ug itudlo mo kining mga butanga.

¹²Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an ensample to them that believe, in word, in manner of life, in love, in faith, in purity.

¹²Ayaw tugoti nga bisan kinsa magatamay sa imong pagkabatan-on; apan magmapanig-ingnan ikaw kanila sa mga mingtoo, sa pulong, sa gawi sa kinabuhi, sa gugma, sa pagtoo, sa kaputli.

¹³Till I come, give heed to reading, to exhortation, to teaching.

¹³Hangtud ako moanha, magkugi ka sa pagbasa, sa pagtambag, sa pagtudlo.

¹⁴Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

¹⁴Dili mo pagpasagdan ang hiyas nga anaa kanimo, nga gihatag kanimo pinaagi sa tagna, uban sa pagpandong sa mga kamot sa presbiterio.

¹⁵Be diligent in these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy progress may be manifest unto all.

¹⁵Kugihan mo kining mga butanga; itugyan ang imong kaugalingon sa bug-os gayud kanila; aron ang imong pag-uswag mapadayag sa tanan.

¹⁶Take heed to thyself, and to thy teaching. Continue in these things; for in doing this thou shalt save both thyself and them that hear thee.

¹⁶Magmatngon ka sa imong kaugalingon, ug sa imong pagtudlo. Magpadayon ka niining mga butanga; kay sa pagbuhat niini, maluwas mo ang imong kaugalingon, ug sila nga nagapatalinghug kanimo.
