¹And when we were escaped, then we knew that the island was called Melita.

¹Ug sa naluwas na kami, nahibaloan namo nga ang pulo ginganlan Melita,

²And the barbarians showed us no common kindness; for they kindled a fire, and received us all, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.

²Apan ang mga molupyo didto nagaamoma kanamo sa dili diyutay nga pag-abiabi; kay nagahaling sila ug usa ka daub, ug midawat kanamong tanan, tungod sa ulan, ug tungod sa katugnaw.

³But when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, a viper came out by reason of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

³Apan sapagkuha ni Pablo ug usa ka hakgum sa mga sanga ug gitam-ok sa daub, miwayway ang usa ka bitin nga malala tungod sa kainit, ug miungot sa iyang kamot.

⁴And when the barbarians saw the [venomous] creature hanging from his hand, they said one to another, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped from the sea, yet Justice hath not suffered to live.

⁴Ug sa hingkit-an sa mga molupyo didto ang malala nga mananap nga nagabitay sa iyang kamot, nagsinultihay sila ang usa ug usa: Sa walay duhaduha mamomono kining tawohana, nga bisan tuod nakakalagiw gikan sa dagat, apan wala motugot ang katarungan nga mabuhi siya.

⁵Howbeit he shook off the creature into the fire, and took no harm.

⁵Apan gisawilik niya ang mananap sa kalayo, ug wala siya mobati ug kadautan.

⁶But they expected that he would have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but when they were long in expectation and beheld nothing amiss came to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

⁶Apan sila nagapaabut nga mohupong siya, kun mapukan nga patay sa hinanali; apan sa human ang dugay nga paghulat nila, ug sa hingkit-an nila nga walay bisan unsang kadaut nga nahitabo kaniya, nagbalhin sila sa ilang mga hunahuna, ug nanag-ingon nga siya usa ka dios.

⁷Now in the neighborhood of that place were lands belonging to the chief man of the island, named Publius, who received us, and entertained us three days courteously.

⁷Apan sa nait niadtong dapita, may mga kaumhan sa pangulo sa pulo nga ginganlan si Publio; nga midawat kanamo, ug maoy nag-amoma kanamo sulod sa tolo ka adlaw sa maabiabihon gayud.

⁸And it was so, that the father of Publius lay sick of fever and dysentery: unto whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laying his hands on him healed him.

⁸Ug mao kadto nga ang amahan ni Publio nagahigda nga gitakbuyan sa hilanat ug sa kalibang ug dugo. Kaniya misulod si Pablo ug nagaampo, ug sa mipandong siya sa iyang mga kamot kaniya, giayo niya.

⁹And when this was done, the rest also that had diseases in the island came, and were cured:

⁹Ug sa nahimo kini, ang uban usab nga may mga sakit niadtong puloa nangadto kaniya, ug giayo niya.

¹⁰who also honored us with many honors; and when we sailed, they put on board such things as we needed.

¹⁰Sila usab nanagpahinangup kanamo ug daghang mga hatag; ug sa paglayag namo, gilulanan kami nila sa mga butang nga among gikinahanglan.

¹¹And after three months we set sail in a ship of Alexandria which had wintered in the island, whose sign was The Twin Brothers.

¹¹Ug sa human ang tolo ka bulan, milayag kami sa usa ka sakayan, nga taga-Alejandria, nga mingtapon sa pulo sa tingtugnaw; ug ang iyang timaan mao ang kaluhang lalake Castor ug Polux.

¹²And touching at Syracuse, we tarried there three days.

¹²Ug sa pagdunggo namo sa Siracusa, napabilin kami didto sa tolo ka adlaw.

¹³And from thence we made a circuit, and arrived at Rhegium: and after one day a south wind sprang up, and on the second day we came to Puteoli;

¹³Ug gikan didto miliko kami, ug miabut sa Regio; ug sa tapus ang usa ka adlaw, mihuyop ang habagat, ug sa ikaduhang adlaw miabut kami sa Puteolos.

¹⁴where we found brethren, and were entreated to tarry with them seven days: and so we came to Rome.

¹⁴Didto nakakaplag kami ug mga igsoon, ug nangayo sila nga magapabilin kami uban kanila ug pito ka adlaw; ug unya nakadangat kami sa Roma.

¹⁵And from thence the brethren, when they heard of us, came to meet us as far as The Market of Appius and The Three Taverns; whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.

¹⁵Ug gikan didto, ang mga igsoon, sa ilang pagkadungog mahitungod kanamo, misugat sa pagdawat kanamo hangtud sa Poro Apii, ug sa Totolo ka Taberna; nga, sa nakita sila ni Pablo, nagpasalamat siya sa Dios, ug nagmadasigon siya.

¹⁶And when we entered into Rome, Paul was suffered to abide by himself with the soldier that guarded him.

¹⁶Ug sa misulod kami sa Roma, gitugutan si Pablo sa pagpuyo nga nagkinaugalingon uban sa sundalo nga nagbantay kaniya.

¹⁷And it came to pass, that after three days he called together those that were the chief of the Jews: and when they were come together, he said unto them, I, brethren, though I had done nothing against the people, or the customs of our fathers, yet was delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans:

¹⁷Ug nahitabo nga sa human ang tolo ka adlaw, gipatigum niya ang mga kadagkuan sa mga Judio: ug sa natigum sila, siya miingon kanila. Ako, mga igsoon, bisan wala akoy nabuhat nga bisan unsa nga batok sa mga tawo, bisan batok sa mga batasan sa atong mga ginikanan, apan gitugyan ako nga binilanggo gikan sa Jerusalem ngadto sa mga kamot sa mga Romanhon:

¹⁸who, when they had examined me, desired to set me at liberty, because there was no cause of death in me.

¹⁸Nga, sa nasusi nila ako, buot nila nga ako buhian tungod kay kanako walay bisan unsa nga hinungdan nga takus sa kamatayon.

¹⁹But when the Jews spake against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Caesar; not that I had aught whereof to accuse my nation.

¹⁹Apan sa misupak ang mga Judio, napugos ako sa pagdangup kang Cesar; dili tungod kay ako adunay igsusumbong batok sa akong nasud.

²⁰For this cause therefore did I entreat you to see and to speak with [me]: for because of the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.

²⁰Busa tungod niini nga hinungdan gipatawag ko kamo sa pagpakigkita ug pagpakigsulti kanako; kay tungod sa paglaum sa Israel, nagapus ako niini nga talikala.

²¹And they said unto him, We neither received letters from Judaea concerning thee, nor did any of the brethren come hither and report or speak any harm of thee.

²¹Ug sila miingon kaniya: Kami wala makadawat ug mga sulat gikan sa Judea mahatungod kanimo, ug walay bisan kinsa usab sa mga igsoon nga mianhi, ug misugilon kun misulti ug bisan unsang dautan batok kanimo.

²²But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, it is known to us that everywhere it is spoken against.

²²Apan buot kami magpatalinghug kanimo sa imong hunahuna; kay, mahitungod niini nga pundok, hingbaloan namo, nga sa bisan diin nga dapit adunay mga sulti nga batok kaniya.

²³And when they had appointed him a day, they came to him into his lodging in great number; to whom he expounded [the matter,] testifying the kingdom of God, and persuading them concerning Jesus, both from the law of Moses and from the prophets, from morning till evening.

²³Ug sa diha nga sila nakagtagal kaniya ug usa ka adlaw, nangadto sila nga tinagdaghan sa iyang puloy-anan; kanila nagsaysay siya sa mga butang, nga nagpamatuod sa gingharian sa Dios, ug nagakabig kanila mahatungod kang Jesus, pinasikad sa Kasugoan ni Moises, ug sa mga Manalagna usab, sukad sa buntag hangtud sa gabii.

²⁴And some believed the things which were spoken, and some disbelieved.

²⁴Ug ang uban mingtoo sa mga butang nga gisulti, apan ang uban wala managtoo.

²⁵And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Spirit through Isaiah the prophet unto your fathers,

²⁵Ug sa wala magakaangay ang usa ug usa kanila, namauli sila sa tapus makasulti si Pablo ug usa ka pulong: Igo gayud ang gisulti sa Espiritu Santo sa atong mga ginikanan pinaagi kang Isaias nga manalagna.

²⁶saying, Go thou unto this people, and say, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall in no wise understand; And seeing ye shall see, and shall in no wise perceive:

²⁶Nga nagaingon: Umadto ka niining katawohana, ug mag-ingon: Sa pagpatalinghug makadungog kamo, ug dili gayud makasabut; ug sa pagtan-aw makakita kamo, ug dili gayud makatukib.

²⁷For this people's heart is waxed gross, And their ears are dull of hearing, And their eyes they have closed; Lest, haply they should perceive with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand with their heart, And should turn again, And I should heal them.

²⁷Kay ang kasingkasing niining katawohan mibaga, ug ang ilang mga igdulungog makuli nga makadungog, ug gipiyong nila ang ilang mga mata; tingali kaha ug makakita sila pinaagi sa ilang mga mata, ug makadungog sila pinaagi sa ilang mga igdulungog, ug makasabut sila pinaagi sa ilang kasingkasing, ug managbalik, ug pagaayohon ko sila.

²⁸Be it known therefore unto you, that this salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles: they will also hear.

²⁸Busa hibaloi ninyo nga kining kaluwasan sa Dios gipadala ngadto sa mga Gentil, sila magpatalinghug usab.

²⁹[And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, having much disputing among themselves.]

²⁹Ug sa nakapamulong siya niining mga pulonga nanglakaw ang mga Judio, ug may daku sila nga mga pagkalalis sa ilang kaugalingon.

³⁰And he abode two whole years in his own hired dwelling, and received all that went in unto him,

³⁰Ug siya mipuyo sulod sa duha ka tuig sa balay nga iyang giabangan, ug midawat siya sa tanan nga miduaw kaniya.

³¹preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching the things concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness, none forbidding him.

³¹Nga nagawali sa gingharian sa Dios, ug nagatudlo sa mga butang mahatungod sa Ginoong Jesucristo, sa bug-os nga kaisug, sa walay bisan kinsa nga nagadili kaniya.
