¹Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness,

¹Si Pablo, ulipon sa Dios, ug apostol ni Jesucristo, ingon sa pagtoo sa mga pinili sa Dios, ug sa pag-ila sa kamatuoran, nga mao ang angay sa pagka-diosnon;

²in hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before times eternal;

²Nga sa paglaum sa kinabuhi nga walay katapusan, nga gisaad sa Dios, nga dili arang makabakak, sa wala pa ang mga katuigan nga walay katapusan;

³but in his own seasons manifested his word in the message, wherewith I was intrusted according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

³Apan sa iyang kaugalingong mga panahon, nagpahayag sa iyang pulong pinaagi sa pagmantala, nga gitugyan kanako sumala sa sugo sa Dios nga atong Manluluwas;

⁴to Titus, my true child after a common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Saviour.

⁴Kang Tito, anak ko nga matuod sumala sa pagtoo nga gikausahan: Ang gracia ug ang pakigdait sa Dios nga Amahan ug kang Cristo Jesus nga atong Manluluwas.

⁵For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that were wanting, and appoint elders in every city, as I gave thee charge;

⁵Tungod niining hinungdan gibilin ko ikaw sa Creta, aron ipahimutang mo ang mga butang nga nakulang, ug sa pagtudlo ug mga anciano sa tagsatagsa ka lungsod ingon sa gisugo ko kanimo,

⁶if any man is blameless, the husband of one wife, having children that believe, who are not accused of riot or unruly.

⁶Kong may tawo nga dili badlonganon, bana sa usa ka asawa nga may mga anak nga mga magtotoo nga wala ikasumbong sa paggubot ug sa pagsupil.

⁷For the bishop must be blameless, as God's steward; not self-willed, not soon angry, no brawler, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre;

⁷Kay kinahanglan nga ang obispo dili badlonganon, ingon nga tinugyanan sa Dios; dili mabuotbuoton sa kaugalingon, dili masuk-anon, dili mahigugmaon sa vino, dili makig-awayon, dili dalo sa maka-uulaw nga ganancia.

⁸but given to hospitality, as lover of good, sober-minded, just, holy, self-controlled;

⁸Kondili maabiabihon, mahigugmaon sa maayo, buotan, matarung, maputli, mapinugnganon;

⁹holding to the faithful word which is according to the teaching, that he may be able to exhort in the sound doctrine, and to convict the gainsayers.

⁹Nga magabaton sa pulong nga matinumanon, nga nahiuyon sa pagtolon-an aron siya makahimo sa pagpanambag sa maayong pagtolon-an, ug sa pagbadlong usab sa mga malalison.

¹⁰For there are many unruly men, vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision,

¹⁰Kay adunay daghang tawo nga masukihon, nga tigsulti sa walay pulos, ug mga limbongan, labi na gayud ang sa mga circuncicion;

¹¹whose mouths must be stopped; men who overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.

¹¹Kansang mga baba kinahanglan pagsap-ungan; mga tawo nga nagabungkag sa tibook nga mga panimalay, nga nagapanudlo ug mga butang nga dili angay nila itudlo, tungod sa ganancia nga maka-uulaw.

¹²One of themselves, a prophet of their own, said, Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, idle gluttons.

¹²Ang usa kanila, usa ka kaugalingon nila nga manalagna, miingon: Ang mga taga-Creta mga bakakon gihapon, mga mananap nga mga tapulan nga mga hingaon.

¹³This testimony is true. For which cause reprove them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,

¹³Kini nga pagpamatuod, tinuod man Tungod niini, badlongan sila sa maidlut gayud, aron managputli sila sa pagtoo,

¹⁴not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men who turn away from the truth.

¹⁴Nga dili mapatalinghugon sila sa mga sugilanong Jinudio, ug sa mga sugo sa mga tawo, nga nanagpamulag sa kamatuoran.

¹⁵To the pure all things are pure: but to them that are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.

¹⁵Alang sa mga maputli, ang tanang mga butang maputli; apan alang kanila nga mga mahugaw ug dili matinohoon, walay bisan unsa usab nga maputli, kondili ang ilang hunahuna ug kaisipan mahugaw usab.

¹⁶They profess that they know God; but by their works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

¹⁶Nagasugid sila nga nakaila sila sa Dios; apan sa ilang mga buhat ginalimod siya nila, sanglit mga makaluod sila ug mga dilimasinulondon, ug alang sa tanang maayong buhat, sila dunot ug kasingkasing.
