¹And Paul, looking stedfastly on the council, said, Brethren, I have lived before God in all good conscience until this day.

¹ Syllodd Paul ar y Sanhedrin, ac meddai, "Frodyr, yr wyf fi wedi byw � chydwybod l�n gerbron Duw hyd y dydd hwn."

²And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him to smite him on the mouth.

² Ond gorchmynnodd Ananias yr archoffeiriad i'r rhai oedd yn sefyll yn ei ymyl ei daro ar ei geg.

³Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: and sittest thou to judge me according to the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law?

³ Yna dywedodd Paul wrtho, "Y mae Duw yn mynd i'th daro di, tydi bared gwyngalchog. A wyt ti'n eistedd i'm barnu i yn �l y Gyfraith, ac yna'n torri'r Gyfraith trwy orchymyn fy nharo?"

⁴And they that stood by said, Revilest thou God's high priest?

⁴ Ond dywedodd y rhai oedd yn sefyll yn ei ymyl, "A wyt ti'n beiddio sarhau archoffeiriad Duw?"

⁵And Paul said, I knew not, brethren, that he was high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of a ruler of thy people.

⁵ Ac meddai Paul, "Ni wyddwn, frodyr, mai'r archoffeiriad ydoedd; oherwydd y mae'n ysgrifenedig, 'Paid � dweud yn ddrwg am bennaeth dy bobl.'"

⁶But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Brethren, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees: touching the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.

⁶ Sylweddolodd Paul fod y naill ran yn Sadwceaid, a'r llall yn Phariseaid, a dechreuodd lefaru'n uchel yn y Sanhedrin: "Frodyr, Pharisead wyf fi, a mab i Phariseaid. Ynglu375?n � gobaith am atgyfodiad y meirw yr wyf ar fy mhrawf."

⁷And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and Sadducees; and the assembly was divided.

⁷ Wedi iddo ddweud hyn, aeth yn ddadl rhwng y Phariseaid a'r Sadwceaid, a rhannwyd y cynulliad.

⁸For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit; but the Pharisees confess both.

⁸ Oherwydd y mae'r Sadwceaid yn dweud nad oes nac atgyfodiad nac angel nac ysbryd, ond y mae'r Phariseaid yn eu cydnabod i gyd.

⁹And there arose a great clamor: and some of the scribes of the Pharisees part stood up, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: and what if a spirit hath spoken to him, or an angel?

⁹ Bu gweiddi mawr, a chododd rhai o'r ysgrifenyddion oedd yn perthyn i blaid y Phariseaid, a dadlau'n daer, gan ddweud, "Nid ydym yn cael dim drwg yn y dyn hwn; a beth os llefarodd ysbryd wrtho, neu angel?"

¹⁰And when there arose a great dissension, the chief captain, fearing lest Paul should be torn in pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down and take him by force from among them, and bring him into the castle.

¹⁰ Ac wrth i'r ddadl boethi, daeth ofn ar y capten rhag i Paul gael ei dynnu'n ddarnau ganddynt, a gorchmynnodd i'r milwyr ddod i lawr i'w gipio ef o'u plith hwy, a mynd ag ef i'r pencadlys.

¹¹And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer: for as thou hast testified concerning me at Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

¹¹ Y noson honno, safodd yr Arglwydd yn ei ymyl, a dywedodd, "Cod dy galon! Oherwydd fel y tystiolaethaist amdanaf fi yn Jerwsalem, felly y mae'n rhaid iti dystiolaethu yn Rhufain hefyd."

¹²And when it was day, the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.

¹² Pan ddaeth yn ddydd, gwnaeth yr Iddewon gynllwyn: aethant ar eu llw i beidio � bwyta nac yfed dim nes y byddent wedi lladd Paul.

¹³And they were more than forty that made this conspiracy.

¹³ Yr oedd mwy na deugain wedi gwneud y cydfwriad hwn.

¹⁴And they came to the chief priests and the elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse, to taste nothing until we have killed Paul.

¹⁴ Aethant at y prif offeiriaid a'r henuriaid, a dweud, "Yr ydym wedi mynd ar ein llw mwyaf difrifol i beidio � phrofi dim bwyd nes y byddwn wedi lladd Paul.

¹⁵Now therefore do ye with the council signify to the chief captain that he bring him down unto you, as though ye would judge of his case more exactly: and we, before he comes near, are ready to slay him.

¹⁵ Rhowch chwi, felly, ynghyd �'r Sanhedrin, rybudd yn awr i'r capten, iddo ddod ag ef i lawr atoch, ar yr esgus eich bod am ymchwilio yn fanylach i'w achos. Ac yr ydym ninnau yn barod i'w ladd ef cyn iddo gyrraedd."

¹⁶But Paul's sister's son heard of their lying in wait, and he came and entered into the castle and told Paul.

¹⁶ Ond fe glywodd mab i chwaer Paul am y cynllwyn, ac aeth i'r pencadlys, a mynd i mewn ac adrodd yr hanes wrth Paul.

¹⁷And Paul called unto him one of the centurions, and said, Bring this young man unto the chief captain; for he hath something to tell him.

¹⁷ Galwodd Paul un o'r canwriaid ato, ac meddai, "Dos �'r llanc yma at y capten; y mae ganddo rywbeth i'w ddweud wrtho."

¹⁸So he took him, and brought him to the chief captain, and saith, Paul the prisoner called me unto him, and asked me to bring this young man unto thee, who hath something to say to thee.

¹⁸ Felly cymerodd y canwriad ef, a mynd ag ef at y capten, ac meddai, "Galwodd y carcharor Paul fi, a gofyn imi ddod �'r llanc hwn atat ti, am fod ganddo rywbeth i'w ddweud wrthyt."

¹⁹And the chief captain took him by the hand, and going aside asked him privately, What is it that thou hast to tell me?

¹⁹ Cymerodd y capten afael yn ei law, a mynd ag ef o'r neilltu a holi, "Beth yw'r hyn sydd gennyt i'w ddweud wrthyf?"

²⁰And he said, The Jews have agreed to ask thee to bring down Paul tomorrow unto the council, as though thou wouldest inquire somewhat more exactly concerning him.

²⁰ Meddai yntau, "Cytunodd yr Iddewon i ofyn i ti fynd � Paul i lawr yfory i'r Sanhedrin, ar yr esgus fod y rheini am holi yn fanylach yn ei gylch.

²¹Do not thou therefore yield unto them: for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, who have bound themselves under a curse, neither to eat nor to drink till they have slain him: and now are they ready, looking for the promise from thee.

²¹ Yn awr, paid � gwrando arnynt, oherwydd y mae mwy na deugain o'u dynion yn aros i ymosod arno; y maent wedi mynd ar eu llw i beidio � bwyta nac yfed nes y byddant wedi ei ladd ef, ac y maent yn barod yn awr, yn disgwyl am dy ganiat�d di."

²²So the chief captain let the young man go, charging him, Tell no man that thou hast signified these things to me.

²² Yna anfonodd y capten y llanc ymaith, ar �l gorchymyn iddo, "Paid � dweud wrth neb dy fod wedi rhoi gwybod imi am hyn."

²³And he called unto him two of the centurions, and said, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go as far as Caesarea, and horsemen threescore and ten, and spearmen two hundred, at the third hour of the night:

²³ Yna galwodd ato ddau ganwriad arbennig, a dweud wrthynt, "Paratowch ddau gant o filwyr, i fynd i Gesarea, a saith deg o wu375?r meirch a dau gan picellwr, erbyn naw o'r gloch y nos.

²⁴and [he bade them] provide beasts, that they might set Paul thereon, and bring him safe unto Felix the governor.

²⁴ Darparwch hefyd anifeiliaid, iddynt osod Paul arnynt a mynd ag ef yn ddiogel at Ffelix, y rhaglaw."

²⁵And he wrote a letter after this form:

²⁵ Ac ysgrifennodd lythyr i'r perwyl hwn:

²⁶Claudius Lysias unto the most excellent governor Felix, greeting.

²⁶ "Clawdius Lysias at yr Ardderchocaf Raglaw Ffelix, cyfarchion.

²⁷This man was seized by the Jews, and was about to be slain of them, when I came upon them with the soldiers and rescued him, having learned that he was a Roman.

²⁷ Daliwyd y dyn hwn gan yr Iddewon, ac yr oedd ar fin cael ei ladd ganddynt, ond deuthum ar eu gwarthaf gyda'm milwyr ac achubais ef, wedi imi ddeall ei fod yn ddinesydd Rhufeinig.

²⁸And desiring to know the cause wherefore they accused him, I brought him down unto their council:

²⁸ Gan fy mod yn awyddus i gael gwybod pam yr oeddent yn ei gyhuddo, euthum ag ef i lawr gerbron eu Sanhedrin.

²⁹whom I found to be accused about questions of their law, but to have nothing laid to his charge worthy of death or of bonds.

²⁹ Cefais ei fod yn cael ei gyhuddo ynglu375?n � materion dadleuol yn eu Cyfraith hwy, ond nad oedd yn wynebu cyhuddiad oedd yn haeddu marwolaeth neu garchar.

³⁰And when it was shown to me that there would be a plot against the man, I sent him to thee forthwith, charging his accusers also to speak against him before thee.

³⁰ A chan imi gael ar ddeall y byddai cynllwyn yn erbyn y dyn, yr wyf fi ar unwaith yn ei anfon atat ti, wedi gorchymyn i'w gyhuddwyr hefyd gyflwyno ger dy fron di eu hachos yn ei erbyn ef."

³¹So the soldiers, as it was commanded them, took Paul and brought him by night to Antipatris.

³¹ Felly cymerodd y milwyr Paul, yn �l y gorchymyn a gawsent, a mynd ag ef yn ystod y nos i Antipatris.

³²But on the morrow they left the horsemen to go with him, and returned to the castle:

³² Trannoeth, dychwelsant i'r pencadlys, gan adael i'r gwu375?r meirch fynd ymlaen gydag ef.

³³and they, when they came to Caesarea and delivered the letter to the governor, presented Paul also before him.

³³ Wedi i'r rhain fynd i mewn i Gesarea, rhoesant y llythyr i'r rhaglaw, a throsglwyddo Paul iddo hefyd.

³⁴And when he had read it, he asked of what province he was; and when he understood that he was of Cilicia,

³⁴ Darllenodd yntau'r llythyr, a holi o ba dalaith yr oedd yn dod. Pan ddeallodd ei fod o Cilicia,

³⁵I will hear thee fully, said he, when thine accusers also are come: and he commanded him to be kept in Herod's palace.

³⁵ dywedodd, "Gwrandawaf dy achos pan fydd dy gyhuddwyr hefyd wedi cyrraedd." A gorchmynnodd ei gadw dan warchodaeth yn Praetoriwm Herod.
