¹And Abraham was old, [and] well stricken in age. And Jehovah had blessed Abraham in all things.

¹ Yr oedd Abraham yn hen ac oedrannus, ac yr oedd yr ARGLWYDD wedi ei fendithio ef ym mhob dim.

²And Abraham said unto his servant, the elder of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh.

² Yna dywedodd Abraham wrth y gwas hynaf yn ei du375?, yr un oedd yn gofalu am ei holl eiddo, "Gosod dy law dan fy nghlun,

³And I will make thee swear by Jehovah, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that thou wilt not take a wife for my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell.

³ a pharaf iti dyngu i'r ARGLWYDD, Duw'r nefoedd a'r ddaear, na chymeri wraig i'm mab o ferched y Canaaneaid yr wyf yn byw yn eu plith,

⁴But thou shalt go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife for my son Isaac.

⁴ ond yr ei i'm gwlad ac at fy nhylwyth, i gymryd gwraig i'm mab Isaac."

⁵And the servant said unto him, Peradventure the woman will not be willing to follow me unto this land. Must I needs bring thy son again unto the land from whence thou camest?

⁵ Dywedodd y gwas wrtho, "Efallai na fydd y wraig am ddod ar fy �l i'r wlad hon; a fydd raid i mi fynd �'th fab yn �l i'r wlad y daethost allan ohoni?"

⁶And Abraham said unto him, Beware thou that thou bring not my son thither again.

⁶ Dywedodd Abraham wrtho, "Gofala nad ei �'m mab yn �l yno.

⁷Jehovah, the God of heaven, who took me from my father's house, and from the land of my nativity, and who spake unto me, and who sware unto me, saying, Unto thy seed will I give this land. He will send his angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife for my son from thence.

⁷ Yr ARGLWYDD, Duw'r nefoedd, yr un a'm cymerodd o du375? fy nhad ac o wlad fy ngeni, ac a lefarodd a thyngu wrthyf, a dweud, 'Rhof y wlad hon i'th ddisgynyddion', bydd ef yn anfon ei angel o'th flaen, ac fe gymeri wraig i'm mab oddi yno.

⁸And if the woman be not willing to follow thee, then thou shalt be clear from this my oath. Only thou shalt not bring my son thither again.

⁸ Os na fydd y wraig am ddod ar dy �l, yna byddi'n rhydd oddi wrth y llw hwn; ond paid � mynd �'m mab yn �l yno."

⁹And the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and sware to him concerning this matter.

⁹ Felly gosododd y gwas ei law dan glun ei feistr Abraham, a thyngu iddo am y mater hwn.

¹⁰And the servant took ten camels, of the camels of his master, and departed, having all goodly things of his master's in his hand. And he arose, and went to Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor.

¹⁰ Yna cymerodd y gwas ddeg o gamelod ei feistr, a mynd ymaith a holl anrhegion ei feistr dan ei ofal, ac aeth i Aram-naharaim, i ddinas Nachor.

¹¹And he made the camels to kneel down without the city by the well of water at the time of evening, the time that women go out to draw water.

¹¹ Parodd i'r camelod orwedd y tu allan i'r ddinas, wrth y pydew du373?r, gyda'r hwyr, sef yr amser y byddai'r merched yn dod i godi du373?r.

¹²And he said, O Jehovah, the God of my master Abraham, send me, I pray thee, good speed this day, and show kindness unto my master Abraham.

¹² A dywedodd, "O ARGLWYDD, Duw fy meistr Abraham, rho lwyddiant i mi heddiw, a gwna garedigrwydd �'m meistr Abraham.

¹³Behold, I am standing by the fountain of water. And the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water.

¹³ Dyma fi'n sefyll wrth y ffynnon ddu373?r, a merched y ddinas yn dod i godi du373?r.

¹⁴And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink. And she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also. Let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac. And thereby shall I know that thou hast showed kindness unto my master.

¹⁴ Y ferch y dywedaf wrthi, 'Gostwng dy st�n, er mwyn i mi gael yfed', a hithau'n ateb, 'Yf, ac mi rof ddiod i'th gamelod hefyd', bydded mai honno fydd yr un a ddarperaist i'th was Isaac. Wrth hyn y caf wybod iti wneud caredigrwydd �'m meistr."

¹⁵And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel the son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder.

¹⁵ Cyn iddo orffen siarad, dyma Rebeca, a anwyd i Bethuel fab Milca, gwraig Nachor, brawd Abraham, yn dod allan �'i st�n ar ei hysgwydd.

¹⁶And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her. And she went down to the fountain, and filled her pitcher, and came up.

¹⁶ Yr oedd y ferch yn hardd odiaeth, yn wyryf, heb orwedd gyda gu373?r. Aeth i lawr at y ffynnon, llanwodd ei st�n, a daeth i fyny.

¹⁷And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Give me to drink, I pray thee, a little water from thy pitcher.

¹⁷ Rhedodd y gwas i'w chyfarfod, a dweud, "Gad imi yfed ychydig ddu373?r o'th st�n."

¹⁸And she said, Drink, my lord. And she hasted, and let down her pitcher upon her hand, and gave him drink.

¹⁸ Dywedodd hithau, "Yf, f'arglwydd," a brysio i ostwng ei st�n ar ei llaw, a rhoi diod iddo.

¹⁹And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw for thy camels also, until they have done drinking.

¹⁹ Pan orffennodd roi diod iddo, dywedodd hi, "Codaf ddu373?r i'th gamelod hefyd, nes iddynt gael digon."

²⁰And she hasted, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again unto the well to draw, and drew for all his camels.

²⁰ Brysiodd i dywallt ei st�n i'r cafn, a rhedeg eilwaith i'r ffynnon, a chodi du373?r i'w holl gamelod.

²¹And the man looked stedfastly on her, holding his peace, to know whether Jehovah had made his journey prosperous or not.

²¹ Syllodd y gu373?r arni, heb ddweud dim, i wybod a oedd yr ARGLWYDD wedi llwyddo'i daith ai peidio.

²²And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden ring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold,

²² Pan orffennodd y camelod yfed, cymerodd y gu373?r fodrwy aur yn pwyso hanner sicl, a dwy freichled yn pwyso deg sicl o aur i'w garddyrnau,

²³and said, Whose daughter art thou? Tell me, I pray thee. Is there room in thy father's house for us to lodge in?

²³ ac meddai, "Dywed wrthyf, merch pwy wyt ti? A oes lle i ni aros noson yn nhu375? dy dad?"

²⁴And she said unto him, I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, whom she bare unto Nahor.

²⁴ Dywedodd hithau wrtho, "Merch Bethuel fab Milca a Nachor."

²⁵She said moreover unto him, We have both straw and provender enough, and room to lodge in.

²⁵ Ac ychwanegodd, "Y mae gennym ddigon o wellt a phorthiant, a lle i letya."

²⁶And the man bowed his head, and worshipped Jehovah.

²⁶ Ymgrymodd y gu373?r i addoli'r ARGLWYDD,

²⁷And he said, Blessed be Jehovah, the God of my master Abraham, who hath not forsaken his lovingkindness and his truth toward my master. As for me, Jehovah hath led me in the way to the house of my master's brethren.

²⁷ a dweud, "Bendigedig fyddo'r ARGLWYDD, Duw fy meistr Abraham, am nad ataliodd ei garedigrwydd a'i ffyddlondeb oddi wrth fy meistr. Arweiniodd yr ARGLWYDD fi ar fy nhaith i du375? brodyr fy meistr."

²⁸And the damsel ran, and told her mother's house according to these words.

²⁸ Rhedodd y ferch a mynegi'r pethau hyn i dylwyth ei mam.

²⁹And Rebekah had a brother, and his name was Laban: and Laban ran out unto the man, unto the fountain.

²⁹ Ac yr oedd gan Rebeca frawd o'r enw Laban, a rhedodd ef allan at y gu373?r wrth y ffynnon.

³⁰And it came to pass, when he saw the ring, and the bracelets upon his sister's hands, and when he heard the words of Rebekah his sister, saying, Thus spake the man unto me. That he came unto the man. And, behold, he was standing by the camels at the fountain.

³⁰ Pan welodd y fodrwy, a'r breichledau ar arddyrnau ei chwaer, a chlywed geiriau ei chwaer Rebeca am yr hyn a ddywedodd y gu373?r wrthi, aeth at y gu373?r oedd yn sefyll gyda'r camelod wrth y ffynnon.

³¹And he said, Come in, thou blessed of Jehovah. Wherefore standest thou without? For I have prepared the house, and room for the camels.

³¹ Dywedodd, "Tyrd i'r tu375?, fendigedig yr ARGLWYDD; pam yr wyt yn sefyll y tu allan, a minnau wedi paratoi'r tu375?, a lle i'r camelod?"

³²And the man came into the house, and he ungirded the camels. And he gave straw and provender for the camels, and water to wash his feet and the feet of the men that were with him.

³² Pan ddaeth y gu373?r at y tu375?, gollyngodd Laban y camelod, ac estyn gwellt a phorthiant iddynt, a rhoi du373?r i'r gu373?r a'r dynion oedd gydag ef i olchi eu traed.

³³And there was set food before him to eat. But he said, I will not eat, until I have told mine errand. And he said, Speak on.

³³ Pan osodwyd bwyd o'i flaen, dywedodd y gu373?r, "Nid wyf am fwyta nes imi ddweud fy neges." Ac meddai Laban, "Traetha."

³⁴And he said, I am Abraham's servant.

³⁴ Dywedodd, "Gwas Abraham wyf fi.

³⁵And Jehovah hath blessed my master greatly. And he is become great. And he hath given him flocks and herds, and silver and gold, and men-servants and maid-servants, and camels and asses.

³⁵ Y mae'r ARGLWYDD wedi bendithio fy meistr yn helaeth, ac y mae yntau wedi llwyddo; y mae wedi rhoi iddo ddefaid ac ychen, arian ac aur, gweision a morynion, camelod ac asynnod.

³⁶And Sarah my master's wife bare a son to my master when she was old. And unto him hath he given all that he hath.

³⁶ Ac y mae Sara gwraig fy meistr wedi geni mab iddo yn ei henaint; ac y mae fy meistr wedi rhoi ei holl eiddo i hwnnw.

³⁷And my master made me swear, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife for my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell.

³⁷ Parodd fy meistr i mi fynd ar fy llw, a dywedodd, 'Paid � chymryd gwraig i'm mab o blith merched y Canaaneaid yr wyf yn byw yn eu gwlad;

³⁸But thou shalt go unto my father's house, and to my kindred, and take a wife for my son.

³⁸ ond dos i du375? fy nhad, ac at fy nhylwyth, i gymryd gwraig i'm mab.'

³⁹And I said unto my master, Peradventure the woman will not follow me.

³⁹ Dywedais wrth fy meistr, 'Efallai na ddaw'r wraig ar fy �l.'

⁴⁰And he said unto me, Jehovah, before whom I walk, will send his angel with thee, and prosper thy way. And thou shalt take a wife for my son of my kindred, and of my father's house.

⁴⁰ Ond dywedodd yntau wrthyf, 'Bydd yr ARGLWYDD, yr wyf yn rhodio ger ei fron, yn anfon ei angel gyda thi ac yn llwyddo dy daith. Os cymeri wraig i'm mab o'm tylwyth ac o du375? fy nhad,

⁴¹Then shalt thou be clear from my oath, when thou comest to my kindred. And if they give her not to thee, thou shalt be clear from my oath.

⁴¹ yna byddi'n rhydd oddi wrth fy llw; os doi at fy nhylwyth, a hwythau'n gwrthod ei rhoi iti, byddi hefyd yn rhydd oddi wrth fy llw.'

⁴²And I came this day unto the fountain, and said, O Jehovah, the God of my master Abraham, if now thou do prosper my way which I go.

⁴² Pan ddeuthum heddiw at y ffynnon, dywedais, 'O ARGLWYDD, Duw fy meistr Abraham, os wyt am lwyddo fy nhaith yn awr,

⁴³Behold, I am standing by the fountain of water. And let it come to pass, that the maiden that cometh forth to draw, to whom I shall say, Give me, I pray thee, a little water from thy pitcher to drink.

⁴³ tra wyf yn sefyll wrth y ffynnon ddu373?r, bydded mai'r ferch ifanc a ddaw allan i godi du373?r ac yna, pan ddywedaf wrthi, "Rho i mi ychydig ddu373?r i'w yfed o'th st�n",

⁴⁴And she shall say to me, Both drink thou, and I will also draw for thy camels. Let the same be the woman whom Jehovah hath appointed for my master's son.

⁴⁴ fydd yn ateb, "Yf, a chodaf ddu373?r i'th gamelod hefyd", bydded mai honno fydd y wraig y mae'r ARGLWYDD wedi ei darparu i fab fy meistr.'

⁴⁵And before I had done speaking in my heart, behold, Rebekah came forth with her pitcher on her shoulder. And she went down unto the fountain, and drew. And I said unto her, Let me drink, I pray thee.

⁴⁵ Cyn i mi orffen gwneud fy nghais, dyma Rebeca yn dod allan �'i st�n ar ei hysgwydd; aeth i lawr at y ffynnon a chodi du373?r. Dywedais wrthi, 'Gad imi yfed.'

⁴⁶And she made haste, and let down her pitcher from her shoulder, and said, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also. So I drank, and she made the camels drink also.

⁴⁶ Brysiodd hithau i ostwng ei st�n oddi ar ei hysgwydd, a dywedodd, 'Yf, a rhof ddiod i'th gamelod hefyd.' Yfais, a rhoes hithau ddiod i'r camelod.

⁴⁷And I asked her, and said, Whose daughter art thou? And she said, The daughter of Bethuel, Nahor's son, whom Milcah bare unto him. And I put the ring upon her nose, and the bracelets upon her hands.

⁴⁷ Yna gofynnais iddi, 'Merch pwy wyt ti?' Ac meddai hithau, 'Merch Bethuel fab Nachor a Milca.' Yna gosodais y fodrwy yn ei thrwyn, a'r breichledau am ei garddyrnau.

⁴⁸And I bowed my head, and worshipped Jehovah, and blessed Jehovah, the God of my master Abraham, who had led me in the right way to take my master's brother's daughter for his son.

⁴⁸ Ymgrymais i addoli'r ARGLWYDD, a bendithiais yr ARGLWYDD, Duw fy meistr Abraham, a arweiniodd fi yn y ffordd iawn i gymryd merch brawd fy meistr i'w fab.

⁴⁹And now if ye will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me. And if not, tell me. That I may turn to the right hand, or to the left.

⁴⁹ Yn awr, os ydych am wneud caredigrwydd a ffyddlondeb i'm meistr, dywedwch wrthyf; ac onid e, dywedwch wrthyf, fel y gallaf droi ar y llaw dde neu'r chwith."

⁵⁰Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, The thing proceedeth from Jehovah. We cannot speak unto thee bad or good.

⁵⁰ Yna atebodd Laban a Bethuel, a dweud, "Oddi wrth yr ARGLWYDD y daeth hyn; ni allwn ni ddweud dim wrthyt, na drwg na da.

⁵¹Behold, Rebekah is before thee, take her, and go, and let her be thy master's son's wife, as Jehovah hath spoken.

⁵¹ Dyma Rebeca o'th flaen; cymer hi a dos. A bydded yn wraig i fab dy feistr, fel y dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD."

⁵²And it came to pass, that, when Abraham's servant heard their words, he bowed himself down to the earth unto Jehovah.

⁵² Pan glywodd gwas Abraham eu geiriau, ymgrymodd i'r llawr gerbron yr ARGLWYDD,

⁵³And the servant brought forth jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment, and gave them to Rebekah. He gave also to her brother and to her mother precious things.

⁵³ ac estynnodd dlysau o arian ac aur, a gwisgoedd, a'u rhoi i Rebeca; rhoddodd hefyd anrhegion gwerthfawr i'w brawd ac i'w mam.

⁵⁴And they did eat and drink, he and the men that were with him, and tarried all night. And they rose up in the morning, and he said, Send me away unto my master.

⁵⁴ A bwytaodd ac yfodd, ef a'r dynion oedd gydag ef, ac aros yno noson. Pan godasant yn y bore, dywedodd, "Gadewch imi fynd at fy meistr."

⁵⁵And her brother and her mother said, Let the damsel abide with us [a few] days, at the least ten. After that she shall go.

⁵⁵ Ac meddai ei brawd a'i mam, "Gad i'r ferch aros gyda ni am o leiaf ddeg diwrnod; wedi hynny caiff fynd."

⁵⁶And he said unto them, Hinder me not, seeing Jehovah hath prospered my way. Send me away that I may go to my master.

⁵⁶ Ond dywedodd ef wrthynt, "Peidiwch �'m rhwystro, gan i'r ARGLWYDD lwyddo fy nhaith; gadewch imi fynd at fy meistr."

⁵⁷And they said, We will call the damsel, and inquire at her mouth.

⁵⁷ Yna dywedasant, "Galwn ar y ferch, a gofynnwn iddi hi."

⁵⁸And they called Rebekah, and said unto her, Wilt thou go with this man? And she said, I will go.

⁵⁸ A galwasant ar Rebeca, a dweud wrthi, "A ei di gyda'r gu373?r hwn?" Atebodd hithau, "Af."

⁵⁹And they sent away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and Abraham's servant, and his men.

⁵⁹ Felly gollyngasant eu chwaer Rebeca a'i mamaeth, a gwas Abraham a'i ddynion,

⁶⁰And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Our sister, be thou [the mother] of thousands of ten thousands, and let thy seed possess the gate of those that hate them.

⁶⁰ a bendithio Rebeca, a dweud wrthi, "Tydi, ein chwaer, boed iti fynd yn filoedd o fyrddiynau, a bydded i'th ddisgynyddion etifeddu porth eu gelynion."

⁶¹And Rebekah arose, and her damsels, and they rode upon the camels, and followed the man. And the servant took Rebekah, and went his way.

⁶¹ Yna cododd Rebeca a'i morynion, a marchogaeth ar y camelod gan ddilyn y gu373?r; felly cymerodd y gwas Rebeca a mynd ymaith.

⁶²And Isaac came from the way of Beer-lahai-roi. For he dwelt in the land of the South.

⁶² Yr oedd Isaac wedi dod o Beer-lahai-roi ac yn byw yn ardal y Negef.

⁶³And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide. And he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, there were camels coming.

⁶³ Pan oedd Isaac allan yn myfyrio yn y maes fin nos, cododd ei olygon i edrych, a gwelodd gamelod yn dod.

⁶⁴And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she alighted from the camel.

⁶⁴ Cododd Rebeca hefyd ei golygon, a phan welodd Isaac, disgynnodd oddi ar y camel,

⁶⁵And she said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant said, It is my master. And she took her veil, and covered herself.

⁶⁵ a gofyn i'r gwas, "Pwy yw'r gu373?r acw sy'n cerdded yn y maes tuag atom?" Atebodd y gwas, "Dyna fy meistr." Cymerodd hithau orchudd a'i wisgo.

⁶⁶And the servant told Isaac all the things that he had done.

⁶⁶ Ac adroddodd y gwas wrth Isaac am bopeth yr oedd wedi ei wneud.

⁶⁷And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife. And he loved her. And Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.

⁶⁷ Yna daeth Isaac � Rebeca i mewn i babell ei fam Sara, a'i chymryd yn wraig iddo. Carodd Isaac Rebeca, ac felly cafodd gysur ar �l marw ei fam.
