¹Hear the word of Jehovah, ye children of Israel; for Jehovah hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor goodness, nor knowledge of God in the land.

¹ Clywch air yr ARGLWYDD, blant Israel. Y mae gan yr ARGLWYDD achos yn erbyn trigolion y tir, am nad oes ffyddlondeb, cariad na gwybodaeth o Dduw yn y tir,

²There is nought but swearing and breaking faith, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery; they break out, and blood toucheth blood.

² ond tyngu a chelwydda, lladd a lladrata, godinebu a threisio, a lladd yn dilyn lladd.

³Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field and the birds of the heavens; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.

³ Am hynny, galara'r wlad, nycha'i holl drigolion; dygir ymaith anifeiliaid y maes, adar yr awyr hefyd a physgod y m�r.

⁴Yet let no man strive, neither let any man reprove; for thy people are as they that strive with the priest.

⁴ "Peidied neb ag ymryson, ac na chyhudded neb; y mae fy achos yn dy erbyn di, offeiriad.

⁵And thou shalt stumble in the day, and the prophet also shall stumble with thee in the night; and I will destroy thy mother.

⁵ Yr wyt yn baglu liw dydd, a syrth y proffwyd hefyd gyda thi yn y nos. Dinistriaf dy fam;

⁶My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I also will forget thy children.

⁶ difethir fy mhobl o eisiau gwybodaeth; am i ti wrthod gwybodaeth y gwrthodaf di yn offeiriad imi; am i ti anghofio cyfraith dy Dduw yr anghofiaf finnau dy blant.

⁷As they were multiplied, so they sinned against me: I will change their glory into shame.

⁷ "Fel yr amlh�nt, mwy y pechant yn f'erbyn; trof eu gogoniant yn warth.

⁸They feed on the sin of my people, and set their heart on their iniquity.

⁸ Bwyt�nt bechod fy mhobl, ac estyn eu safn at eu drygioni.

⁹And it shall be, like people, like priest; and I will punish them for their ways, and will requite them their doings.

⁹ Bydd y bobl fel yr offeiriad; fe'u cosbaf am eu ffyrdd a dial arnynt am eu gweithredoedd.

¹⁰And they shall eat, and not have enough; they shall play the harlot, and shall not increase; because they have left off taking heed to Jehovah.

¹⁰ Bwyt�nt, ond heb eu digoni, puteiniant, ond heb amlhau, am iddynt ddiystyru yr ARGLWYDD.

¹¹Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the understanding.

¹¹ "Y mae puteindra, gwin a gwin newydd yn dwyn ymaith y deall.

¹²My people ask counsel at their stock, and their staff declareth unto them; for the spirit of whoredom hath caused them to err, and they have played the harlot, [departing] from under their God.

¹² Y mae fy mhobl yn ymofyn � phren, a'u gwialen sy'n eu cyfarwyddo; oherwydd ysbryd puteindra a'u camarweiniodd, troesant mewn puteindra oddi wrth eu Duw.

¹³They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and terebinths, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters play the harlot, and your brides commit adultery.

¹³ Y maent yn aberthu ar bennau'r mynyddoedd, ac yn offrymu ar y bryniau, o dan y dderwen, y boplysen a'r terebinth am fod eu cysgod yn dda. "Am hynny, y mae eich merched yn puteinio a'ch merched-yng-nghyfraith yn godinebu.

¹⁴I will not punish your daughters when they play the harlot, nor your brides when they commit adultery; for [the men] themselves go apart with harlots, and they sacrifice with the prostitutes; and the people that doth not understand shall be overthrown.

¹⁴ Ni chosbaf eich merched pan buteiniant, na'ch merched-yng-nghyfraith pan odinebant, oherwydd y mae'r dynion yn troi at buteiniaid ac yn aberthu gyda'r puteiniaid y cysegr. Pobl heb ddeall, fe'u difethir.

¹⁵Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Beth-aven, nor swear, As Jehovah liveth.

¹⁵ "Er i ti buteinio, Israel, na fydded Jwda'n euog. Peidiwch � mynd i Gilgal, nac i fyny i Beth-afen, a pheidiwch � thyngu, 'Cyn wired � bod yr ARGLWYDD yn fyw.'

¹⁶For Israel hath behaved himself stubbornly, like a stubborn heifer: now will Jehovah feed them as a lamb in a large place.

¹⁶ Fel heffer anhydrin y mae Israel yn anodd ei thrin; a all yr ARGLWYDD yn awr eu bwydo fel oen mewn porfa?

¹⁷Ephraim is joined to idols; let him alone.

¹⁷ "Glynodd Effraim wrth eilunod; gadawer iddo.

¹⁸Their drink is become sour; they play the harlot continually; her rulers dearly love shame.

¹⁸ Cwmni o feddwon wedi ymollwng i buteindra! Syrthiodd ei arweinwyr mewn cariad � gwarth.

¹⁹The wind hath wrapped her up in its wings; and they shall be put to shame because of their sacrifices.

¹⁹ Clymodd y gwynt hwy yn ei adenydd, a chywilyddiant oherwydd eu haberthau.
