11

1Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, of the village of Mary and her sister Martha.
1 Yr oedd rhyw ddyn o'r enw Lasarus yn wael. Yr oedd yn byw ym Methania, pentref Mair a'i chwaer Martha.
2And it was that Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.
2 Mair oedd y ferch a eneiniodd yr Arglwydd ag ennaint, a sychu ei draed 'i gwallt; a'i brawd hi, Lasarus, oedd yn wael.
3The sisters therefore sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.
3 Anfonodd y chwiorydd, felly, neges at Iesu: "Y mae dy gyfaill, syr, yma'n wael."
4But when Jesus heard it, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified thereby.
4 Pan glywodd Iesu, meddai, "Nid yw'r gwaeledd hwn i fod yn angau i Lasarus, ond yn ogoniant i Dduw; bydd yn gyfrwng i Fab Duw gael ei ogoneddu drwyddo."
5Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
5 Yn awr yr oedd Iesu'n caru Martha a'i chwaer a Lasarus.
6When therefore he heard that he was sick, he abode at that time two days in the place where he was.
6 Ac wedi clywed ei fod ef yn wael, arhosodd am ddau ddiwrnod yn y fan lle'r oedd.
7Then after this he saith to the disciples, Let us go into Judaea again.
7 Ac wedyn, dywedodd wrth ei ddisgyblion, "Gadewch inni fynd yn l i Jwdea."
8The disciples say unto him, Rabbi, the Jews were but now seeking to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?
8 "Rabbi," meddai'r disgyblion wrtho, "gynnau yr oedd yr Iddewon yn ceisio dy labyddio. Sut y gelli fynd yn l yno?"
9Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If a man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.
9 Atebodd Iesu: "Onid oes deuddeg awr mewn diwrnod? Os yw rhywun yn cerdded yng ngolau dydd, nid yw'n baglu, oherwydd y mae'n gweld golau'r byd hwn.
10But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because the light is not in him.
10 Ond os yw rhywun yn cerdded yn y nos, y mae'n baglu, am nad oes golau ganddo."
11These things spake he: and after this he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus is fallen asleep; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
11 Ar l dweud hyn meddai wrthynt, "Y mae ein cyfaill Lasarus yn huno, ond yr wyf yn mynd yno i'w ddeffro."
12The disciples therefore said unto him, Lord, if he is fallen asleep, he will recover.
12 Dywedodd y disgyblion wrtho, "Arglwydd, os yw'n huno fe gaiff ei wella."
13Now Jesus had spoken of his death: but they thought that he spake of taking rest in sleep.
13 Ond at ei farwolaeth ef yr oedd Iesu wedi cyfeirio, a hwythau'n meddwl mai siarad am hun cwsg yr oedd.
14Then Jesus therefore said unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
14 Felly dywedodd Iesu wrthynt yn blaen, "Y mae Lasarus wedi marw.
15And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.
15 Ac er eich mwyn chwi yr wyf yn falch nad oeddwn yno, er mwyn ichwi gredu. Ond gadewch inni fynd ato."
16Thomas therefore, who is called Didymus, said unto his fellow-disciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.
16 Ac meddai Thomas, a elwir Didymus, wrth ei gyd-ddisgyblion, "Gadewch i ninnau fynd hefyd, i farw gydag ef."
17So when Jesus came, he found that he had been in the tomb four days already.
17 Pan gyrhaeddodd yno, cafodd Iesu fod Lasarus eisoes yn ei fedd ers pedwar diwrnod.
18Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off;
18 Yr oedd Bethania yn ymyl Jerwsalem, ryw dri chilomedr oddi yno.
19and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary, to console them concerning their brother.
19 Ac yr oedd llawer o'r Iddewon wedi dod at Martha a Mair i'w cysuro ar golli eu brawd.
20Martha therefore, when she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary still sat in the house.
20 Pan glywodd Martha fod Iesu yn dod, aeth i'w gyfarfod; ond eisteddodd Mair yn y tu375?.
21Martha therefore said unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
21 Dywedodd Martha wrth Iesu, "Pe buasit ti yma, syr, ni buasai fy mrawd wedi marw.
22And even now I know that, whatsoever thou shalt ask of God, God will give thee.
22 A hyd yn oed yn awr, mi wn y rhydd Duw i ti beth bynnag a ofynni ganddo."
23Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
23 Dywedodd Iesu wrthi, "Fe atgyfoda dy frawd."
24Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
24 "Mi wn," meddai Martha wrtho, "y bydd yn atgyfodi yn yr atgyfodiad ar y dydd olaf."
25Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth on me, though he die, yet shall he live;
25 Dywedodd Iesu wrthi, "Myfi yw'r atgyfodiad a'r bywyd. Pwy bynnag sy'n credu ynof fi, er iddo farw, fe fydd byw;
26and whosoever liveth and believeth on me shall never die. Believest thou this?
26 a phob un sy'n byw ac yn credu ynof fi, ni bydd marw byth. A wyt ti'n credu hyn?"
27She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I have believed that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, [even] he that cometh into the world.
27 "Ydwyf, Arglwydd," atebodd hithau, "yr wyf fi'n credu mai tydi yw'r Meseia, Mab Duw, yr Un sy'n dod i'r byd."
28And when she had said this, she went away, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Teacher is her, and calleth thee.
28 Wedi iddi ddweud hyn, aeth ymaith a galw ei chwaer Mair a dweud wrthi o'r neilltu, "Y mae'r Athro wedi cyrraedd, ac y mae am dy weld."
29And she, when she heard it, arose quickly, and went unto him.
29 Pan glywodd Mair hyn, cododd ar frys a mynd ato ef.
30(Now Jesus was not yet come into the village, but was still in the place where Martha met him.)
30 Nid oedd Iesu wedi dod i mewn i'r pentref eto, ond yr oedd yn dal yn y fan lle'r oedd Martha wedi ei gyfarfod.
31The Jews then who were with her in the house, and were consoling her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up quickly and went out, followed her, supposing that she was going unto the tomb to weep there.
31 Pan welodd yr Iddewon, a oedd gyda hi yn y tu375? yn ei chysuro, fod Mair wedi codi ar frys a mynd allan, aethant ar ei hl gan dybio ei bod hi'n mynd at y bedd, i wylo yno.
32Mary therefore, when she came where Jesus was, and saw him, fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
32 A phan ddaeth Mair i'r fan lle'r oedd Iesu, a'i weld, syrthiodd wrth ei draed ac meddai wrtho, "Pe buasit ti yma, syr, ni buasai fy mrawd wedi marw."
33When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews [also] weeping who came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,
33 Wrth ei gweld hi'n wylo, a'r Iddewon oedd wedi dod gyda hi hwythau'n wylo, cynhyrfwyd ysbryd Iesu gan deimlad dwys.
34and said, Where have ye laid him? They say unto him, Lord, come and see.
34 "Ble'r ydych wedi ei roi i orwedd?" gofynnodd. "Tyrd i weld, syr," meddant wrtho.
35Jesus wept.
35 Torrodd Iesu i wylo.
36The Jews therefore said, Behold how he loved him!
36 Yna dywedodd yr Iddewon, "Gwelwch gymaint yr oedd yn ei garu ef."
37But some of them said, Could not this man, who opened the eyes of him that was blind, have caused that this man also should not die?
37 Ond dywedodd rhai ohonynt, "Oni allai hwn, a agorodd lygaid y dall, gadw'r dyn yma hefyd rhag marw?"
38Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the tomb. Now it was a cave, and a stone lay against it.
38 Dan deimlad dwys drachefn, daeth Iesu at y bedd. Ogof ydoedd, a maen yn gorwedd ar ei thraws.
39Jesus saith, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time the body decayeth; for he hath been [dead] four days.
39 "Symudwch y maen," meddai Iesu. A dyma Martha, chwaer y dyn oedd wedi marw, yn dweud wrtho, "Erbyn hyn, syr, y mae'n drewi; y mae yma ers pedwar diwrnod."
40Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou believedst, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
40 "Oni ddywedais wrthyt," meddai Iesu wrthi, "y cait weld gogoniant Duw, dim ond iti gredu?"
41So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou heardest me.
41 Felly symudasant y maen. A chododd Iesu ei lygaid i fyny a dweud, "O Dad, rwy'n diolch i ti am wrando arnaf.
42And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the multitude that standeth around I said it, that they may believe that thou didst send me.
42 Roeddwn i'n gwybod dy fod bob amser yn gwrando arnaf, ond dywedais hyn o achos y dyrfa sy'n sefyll o gwmpas, er mwyn iddynt gredu mai tydi a'm hanfonodd."
43And when he had thus spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
43 Ac wedi dweud hyn, gwaeddodd llais uchel, "Lasarus, tyrd allan."
44He that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with grave-clothes; and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
44 Daeth y dyn a fu farw allan, a'i draed a'i ddwylo wedi eu rhwymo llieiniau, a chadach am ei wyneb. Dywedodd Iesu wrthynt, "Datodwch ei rwymau, a gadewch iddo fynd."
45Many therefore of the Jews, who came to Mary and beheld that which he did, believed on him.
45 Felly daeth llawer o'r Iddewon, y rhai oedd wedi dod at Mair a gweld beth yr oedd Iesu wedi ei wneud, i gredu ynddo.
46But some of them went away to the Pharisees, and told them the things which Jesus had done.
46 Ond aeth rhai ohonynt i ffwrdd at y Phariseaid a dweud wrthynt beth yr oedd Iesu wedi ei wneud.
47The chief priests therefore and the Pharisees gathered a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many signs.
47 Am hynny galwodd y prif offeiriaid a'r Phariseaid gyfarfod o'r Sanhedrin, a dywedasant: "Beth yr ydym am ei wneud? Y mae'r dyn yma'n gwneud llawer o arwyddion.
48If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.
48 Os gadawn iddo barhau fel hyn, bydd pawb yn credu ynddo, ac fe ddaw'r Rhufeiniaid a chymryd oddi wrthym ein teml a'n cenedl hefyd."
49But a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,
49 Ond dyma un ohonynt, Caiaffas, a oedd yn archoffeiriad y flwyddyn honno, yn dweud wrthynt: "Nid ydych chwi'n deall dim.
50nor do ye take account that it is expedient for you that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.
50 Nid ydych yn sylweddoli mai mantais i chwi fydd i un dyn farw dros y bobl, yn hytrach na bod y genedl gyfan yn cael ei difodi."
51Now this he said not of himself: but, being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for the nation;
51 Nid ohono'i hun y dywedodd hyn, ond proffwydo yr oedd, ac yntau'n archoffeiriad y flwyddyn honno, fod Iesu'n mynd i farw dros y genedl,
52and not for the nation only, but that he might also gather together into one the children of God that are scattered abroad.
52 ac nid dros y genedl yn unig ond hefyd er mwyn casglu plant Duw oedd ar wasgar, a'u gwneud yn un.
53So from that day forth they took counsel that they might put him to death.
53 o'r diwrnod hwnnw, felly, gwnaethant gynllwyn i'w ladd ef.
54Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews, but departed thence into the country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim; and there he tarried with the disciples.
54 Am hynny, peidiodd Iesu mwyach mynd oddi amgylch yn agored ymhlith yr Iddewon. Aeth i ffwrdd oddi yno i'r wlad sydd yn ymyl yr anialwch, i dref a elwir Effraim, ac arhosodd yno gyda'i ddisgyblion.
55Now the passover of the Jews was at hand: and many went up to Jerusalem out of the country before the passover, to purify themselves.
55 Yn awr yr oedd Pasg yr Iddewon yn ymyl, ac aeth llawer i fyny i Jerwsalem o'r wlad cyn y Pasg, ar gyfer defod eu puredigaeth.
56They sought therefore for Jesus, and spake one with another, as they stood in the temple, What think ye? That he will not come to the feast?
56 Ac yr oeddent yn chwilio am Iesu, ac yn sefyll yn y deml a dweud wrth ei gilydd, "Beth dybiwch chwi? Nad yw ef ddim yn dod i'r u373?yl?"
57Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had given commandment, that, if any man knew where he was, he should show it, that they might take him.
57 Ac er mwyn iddynt ei ddal, yr oedd y prif offeiriaid a'r Phariseaid wedi rhoi gorchmynion, os oedd rhywun yn gwybod lle'r oedd ef, ei fod i'w hysbysu hwy.
