¹Then came certain of the elders of Israel unto me, and sat before me.

²And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

²Kaj aperis al mi vorto de la Eternulo, dirante:

³Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be inquired of at all by them?

³Ho filo de homo! cxi tiuj homoj levis siajn idolojn en sian koron, kaj allogilon de sia malpieco ili starigis antaux sia vizagxo; cxu Mi nun respondu al ili, kiam ili Min demandas?

⁴Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Every man of the house of Israel that taketh his idols into his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I Jehovah will answer him therein according to the multitude of his idols;

⁴Tial parolu kun ili, kaj diru al ili:Tiele diras la Sinjoro, la Eternulo:Se iu el la domo de Izrael levis siajn idolojn en sian koron kaj starigis antaux si la allogilon de sia malpieco, kaj poste venas al la profeto, tiam Mi, la Eternulo, respondos al li tiel, kiel li meritas per sia granda idolisteco,

⁵that I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.

⁵por ke la domo de Izrael estu kaptata konforme al sia koro, kiun ili defaligis de Mi per cxiuj siaj idoloj.

⁶Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Return ye, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

⁶Tial diru al la domo de Izrael:Tiele diras la Sinjoro, la Eternulo:Pentu, kaj deturnu vin de viaj idoloj, kaj de cxiuj viaj abomenindajxoj deturnu vian vizagxon.

⁷For every one of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that separateth himself from me, and taketh his idols into his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet to inquire for himself of me; I Jehovah will answer him by myself:

⁷CXar se iu el la domo de Izrael, aux el la fremduloj, kiu logxas cxe Izrael, defalas de Mi, levas siajn idolojn en sian koron, starigas antaux sia vizagxo la allogilon de sia malpieco, kaj poste venas al la profeto, por fari per li demandojn al Mi, tiam Mi, la Eternulo, respondos al li per Mi mem;

⁸and I will set my face against that man, and will make him an astonishment, for a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am Jehovah.

⁸Mi direktos Mian vizagxon kontraux tiun homon kaj faros lin avertilo kaj ekzemplo, kaj Mi ekstermos lin el inter Mia popolo; kaj vi ekscios, ke Mi estas la Eternulo.

⁹And if the prophet be deceived and speak a word, I, Jehovah, have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.

⁹Kaj se la profeto estos delogita kaj ion parolos, tiam Mi, la Eternulo, malsagxigis tiun profeton, kaj Mi etendos Mian manon sur lin kaj ekstermos lin el inter Mia popolo Izrael.

¹⁰And they shall bear their iniquity: the iniquity of the prophet shall be even as the iniquity of him that seeketh [unto him];

¹⁰Tiamaniere ili estos punitaj pro sia malpieco:la puno de la demandanto kaj la puno de la profeto estos egalaj;

¹¹that the house of Israel may go no more astray from me, neither defile themselves any more with all their transgressions; but that they may be my people, and I may be their God, saith the Lord Jehovah.

¹¹por ke ili ne plu forerarigu de Mi la domon de Izrael kaj ili ne plu malpurigu sin per cxiuj siaj krimoj; sed ili estu Mia popolo kaj Mi estu ilia Dio, diras la Sinjoro, la Eternulo.

¹²And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

¹²Kaj aperis al mi vorto de la Eternulo, dirante:

¹³Son of man, when a land sinneth against me by committing a trespass, and I stretch out my hand upon it, and break the staff of the bread thereof, and send famine upon it, and cut off from it man and beast;

¹³Ho filo de homo! se lando pekos kontraux Mi, forte kulpigxante antaux Mi, tiam Mi etendos Mian manon sur gxin, kaj rompos al gxi la panan apogon, venigos sur gxin malsaton, kaj ekstermos en gxi la homojn kaj brutojn.

¹⁴though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord Jehovah.

¹⁴Kaj se meze de gxi trovigxus tiaj tri homoj, kiel Noa, Daniel, kaj Ijob, ili pro sia virteco savus sian vivon, diras la Sinjoro, la Eternulo.

¹⁵If I cause evil beasts to pass through the land, and they ravage it, and it be made desolate, so that no man may pass through because of the beasts;

¹⁵Se Mi venigus en la landon sovagxajn bestojn, por gxin senhomigi, por ke gxi farigxu dezerta kaj neniu povu iri tra gxi pro la bestoj-

¹⁶though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, they should deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only should be delivered, but the land should be desolate.

¹⁶kiel Mi vivas, diras la Sinjoro, la Eternulo, ecx tiuj tri homoj en gxi ne savus la filojn nek filinojn; nur ili mem savigxus, sed la lando farigxus dezerta.

¹⁷Or if I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off from it man and beast;

¹⁷Aux se Mi venigus glavon sur tiun landon, kaj dirus:Glavo, trairu la landon; kaj Mi ekstermus en gxi homojn kaj brutojn-

¹⁸though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, they should deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only should be delivered themselves.

¹⁸kiel Mi vivas, diras la Sinjoro, la Eternulo, ecx tiuj tri homoj en gxi ne savus la filojn nek filinojn; nur ili mem savigxus.

¹⁹Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my wrath upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast;

¹⁹Aux se Mi venigus peston sur tiun landon, kaj Mi elversxus sur gxin Mian koleron en sango, por ekstermi en gxi homojn kaj brutojn,

²⁰though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, they should deliver neither son nor daughter; they should but deliver their own souls by their righteousness.

²⁰kaj Noa, Daniel, kaj Ijob estus en gxi-kiel Mi vivas, diras la Sinjoro, la Eternulo, ili ne savus filon nek filinon; nur ili pro sia virteco savus sian animon.

²¹For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: How much more when I send my four sore judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the evil beasts, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast!

²¹CXar tiele diras la Sinjoro, la Eternulo:Ecx se Mi venigus sur Jerusalemon la kvar malbonajn punojn, la glavon, malsaton, sovagxajn bestojn, kaj peston, por ekstermi en gxi homojn kaj brutojn-

²²Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be carried forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings; and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it.

²²tamen restos en gxi restajxo da mortevitintaj filoj kaj filinoj, kaj jen ili eliros al vi, kaj vi vidos ilian konduton kaj iliajn agojn, kaj vi konsoligxos pri la malbono, kiun Mi venigis sur Jerusalemon, pri cxio, kion Mi venigis sur gxin.

²³And they shall comfort you, when ye see their way and their doings; and ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, saith the Lord Jehovah.

²³Kaj ili vin konsolos, kiam vi vidos ilian konduton kaj iliajn agojn, kaj ekscios, ke ne vane Mi faris cxion, kion Mi faris kontraux gxi, diras la Sinjoro, la Eternulo.
