¹The burden of the word of Jehovah to Israel by Malachi.

¹Profeta vorto de la Eternulo al Izrael per Malahxi.

²I have loved you, saith Jehovah. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother, saith Jehovah: yet I loved Jacob;

²Mi ekamis vin, diras la Eternulo. Vi demandas:En kio Vi nin ekamis? CXu Esav ne estas frato de Jakob? diras la Eternulo; tamen Mi ekamis Jakobon,

³but Esau I hated, and made his mountains a desolation, and [gave] his heritage to the jackals of the wilderness.

³kaj Esavon mi malamis, kaj Mi dezertigis liajn montojn, kaj lian posedajxon Mi donis al la sxakaloj de la dezerto.

⁴Whereas Edom saith, We are beaten down, but we will return and build the waste places; thus saith Jehovah of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and men shall call them The border of wickedness, and The people against whom Jehovah hath indignation for ever.

⁴Se la Edomidoj diras:Ni estas ruinigitaj, sed ni revenos kaj rekonstruos la ruinojn-la Eternulo Cebaot diras tiele:Ili konstruos, kaj Mi detruos, kaj oni nomos ilin lando de malpieco, kaj popolo, kontraux kiu la Eternulo koleras eterne.

⁵And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, Jehovah be magnified beyond the border of Israel.

⁵Viaj okuloj tion vidos, kaj vi diros:Granda estas la Eternulo super la limoj de Izrael.

⁶A son honoreth his father, and a servant his master: if then I am a father, where is mine honor? and if I am a master, where is my fear? saith Jehovah of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?

⁶Filo respektas patron, kaj sklavo sian sinjoron; sed se Mi estas patro, kie estas la respekto al Mi? kaj se Mi estas sinjoro, kie estas la timo antaux Mi? diras la Eternulo Cebaot al vi, ho pastroj, kiuj malhonoras Mian nomon. Kaj vi diras:Per kio ni malhonoras Vian nomon?

⁷Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar. And ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of Jehovah is contemptible.

⁷Vi alportas sur Mian altaron panon malpuran, kaj tamen vi diras:Per kio ni malpurigxis antaux Vi? Per tio, ke vi diras:La tablo de la Eternulo estas senvalora.

⁸And when ye offer the blind for sacrifice, it is no evil! and when ye offer the lame and sick, it is no evil! Present it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee? or will he accept thy person? saith Jehovah of hosts.

⁸Kaj kiam vi alportas oferon blindan, cxu tio ne estas malbona? aux kiam vi alportas laman aux malsanan, cxu tio ne estas malbona? Provu alporti gxin al via regionestro-cxu vi tiam placxos al li, kaj cxu li akceptos vin favore? diras la Eternulo Cebaot.

⁹And now, I pray you, entreat the favor of God, that he may be gracious unto us: this hath been by your means: will he accept any of your persons? saith Jehovah of hosts.

⁹Pregxu de nun al Dio, ke Li indulgu nin; se tio estas farita de viaj manoj, cxu Li povas favore akcepti vin? diras la Eternulo Cebaot.

¹⁰Oh that there were one among you that would shut the doors, that ye might not kindle [fire on] mine altar in vain! I have no pleasure in you, saith Jehovah of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.

¹⁰Estus bone, se iu el vi sxlosus la pordon, por ke vi ne bruligu vane fajron sur Mia altaro. Vi ne estas agrablaj al Mi, diras la Eternulo Cebaot; kaj donacon el via mano Mi ne akceptos favore.

¹¹For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name [shall be] great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense [shall be] offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name [shall be] great among the Gentiles, saith Jehovah of hosts.

¹¹CXar de la sunlevigxejo gxis la sunsubirejo Mia nomo estos granda inter la nacioj, kaj sur cxiu loko oni incensos kaj alportos oferojn al Mia nomo, oferojn purajn; cxar granda estos Mia nomo inter la nacioj, diras la Eternulo Cebaot.

¹²But ye profane it, in that ye say, The table of Jehovah is polluted, and the fruit thereof, even its food, is contemptible.

¹²Sed vi malhonoras gxin per tio, ke vi diras:La tablo de la Eternulo estas malsankta, kaj la mangxajxo sur gxi estas senvalora.

¹³Ye say also, Behold, what a weariness is it! and ye have snuffed at it, saith Jehovah of hosts; and ye have brought that which was taken by violence, and the lame, and the sick; thus ye bring the offering: should I accept this at your hand? saith Jehovah.

¹³Kaj vi diras:Tio estas nur klopodoj! Kaj vi malsxatas tion, diras la Eternulo Cebaot, kaj vi alportas tion, kio estas sxtelita, lama, aux malsana, kaj vi alportas ankaux tiaspecan farunoferon. CXu Mi povas favore akcepti tion el via mano? diras la Eternulo.

¹⁴But cursed be the deceiver, who hath in his flock a male, and voweth, and sacrificeth unto the Lord a blemished thing; for I am a great King, saith Jehovah of hosts, and my name is terrible among the Gentiles.

¹⁴Malbenata estu la hipokritulo, kiu havas en sia brutaro sendifektan virbruton, sed, farinte sanktan promeson, li alportas ofere al la Sinjoro kriplajxon; cxar Mi estas Regxo granda, diras la Eternulo Cebaot, kaj Mia nomo estas timata inter la nacioj.
