¹Hear ye now what Jehovah saith: Arise, contend thou before the mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice.

¹Auxskultu, kion diras la Eternulo:Levigxu, havu jugxan disputon kun la montoj, kaj la montetoj auxdu vian vocxon.

²Hear, O ye mountains, Jehovah's controversy, and ye enduring foundations of the earth; for Jehovah hath a controversy with his people, and he will contend with Israel.

²Auxskultu, ho montoj, la jugxan disputon de la Eternulo, kaj ankaux vi, ho potencaj fundamentoj de la tero; cxar la Eternulo havas jugxan disputon kun Sia popolo, kaj al Izrael Li volas doni moralinstruon.

³O my people, what have I done unto thee? and wherein have I wearied thee? testify against me.

³Ho Mia popolo! kion Mi faris al vi, kaj per kio Mi faris al vi maljustajxon? respondu al Mi.

⁴For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of bondage; and I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.

⁴Mi elkondukis ja vin el la lando Egipta, kaj el la domo de sklaveco Mi vin elacxetis, kaj Mi sendis antaux vin Moseon, Aaronon, kaj Mirjamon.

⁵O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab devised, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him; [remember] from Shittim unto Gilgal, that ye may know the righteous acts of Jehovah.

⁵Ho Mia popolo! rememoru, kion intencis Balak, regxo de Moab, kaj kion respondis al li Bileam, filo de Beor; de SXitim gxis Gilgal, por ke vi sciu la bonfarojn de la Eternulo.

⁶Wherewith shall I come before Jehovah, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt-offerings, with calves a year old?

⁶Kun kio mi povas starigxi antaux la Eternulo, klinigxi antaux Dio en la alto? cxu mi starigxu antaux Li kun bruloferoj, kun jaragxaj bovidoj?

⁷will Jehovah be pleased with thousands of rams, [or] with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my first-born for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

⁷CXu al la Eternulo faros plezuron miloj da sxafoj aux sennombraj torentoj da oleo? cxu mi donu mian unuenaskiton pro mia krimo, la frukton de mia ventro pro la peko de mia animo?

⁸He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth Jehovah require of thee, but to do justly, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with thy God?

⁸Estas dirite al vi, ho homo, kio estas bona kaj kion la Eternulo postulas de vi:nur agi juste, ami bonfarojn, kaj esti modesta antaux via Dio.

⁹The voice of Jehovah crieth unto the city, and [the man of] wisdom will see thy name: hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it.

⁹La vocxo de la Eternulo vokas al la urbo, kaj sagxuloj timas Vian nomon. Humiligxu antaux la puno, kaj antaux Tiu, kiu gxin destinis.

¹⁰Are there yet treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and a scant measure that is abominable?

¹⁰Ankoraux restas en la domo de malpiulo trezoroj de malpieco, kaj malbeninda malgxusta mezurilo.

¹¹Shall I be pure with wicked balances, and with a bag of deceitful weights?

¹¹CXu Mi povas aprobi falsan pesilon kaj trompajn pezilojn en la saketo?

¹²For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.

¹²CXar la ricxuloj de la urbo estas plenaj de rabemo, kaj gxiaj logxantoj parolas mensogon, kaj la lingvo de ilia busxo estas falsajxo,

¹³Therefore I also have smitten thee with a grievous wound; I have made thee desolate because of thy sins.

¹³tial Mi dolorige vin frapos per dezertigo pro viaj pekoj.

¹⁴Thou shalt eat, but not be satisfied; and thy humiliation shall be in the midst of thee: and thou shalt put away, but shalt not save; and that which thou savest will I give up to the sword.

¹⁴Vi mangxos, sed ne farigxos sata; doloron pro malsato vi havos en via interno; vi kasxos, sed ne povos konservi; kaj kion vi konservos, tion Mi transdonos al la glavo.

¹⁵Thou shalt sow, but shalt not reap; thou shalt tread the olives, but shalt not anoint thee with oil; and the vintage, but shalt not drink the wine.

¹⁵Vi semos, sed vi ne rikoltos; vi premos olivojn, sed vi ne sxmiros vin per oleo; vi premos vinberojn, sed vi ne trinkos vinon.

¹⁶For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the house of Ahab, and ye walk in their counsels; that I may make thee a desolation, and the inhabitants thereof a hissing: and ye shall bear the reproach of my people.

¹⁶Konservigxis cxe vi la moroj de Omri kaj cxiuj faroj de la domo de Ahxab, kaj vi sekvas iliajn konsilojn, por ke Mi faru vin dezerto, viajn logxantojn mokatajxo, kaj por ke vi portu sur vi la malhonoron de Mia popolo.
