¹When a man taketh a wife, and marrieth her, then it shall be, if she find no favor in his eyes, because he hath found some unseemly thing in her, that he shall write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.

¹Kui mees võtab naise ja abiellub temaga, aga naine ei leia enam armu ta silmis, sellepärast et ta on avastanud tema juures midagi ebameeldivat, ja ta kirjutab temale lahutuskirja ning annab selle temale kätte ja saadab ta ära oma kojast,

²And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's [wife].

²ja kui siis naine läheb ära ta kojast ja tuleb ning saab teise mehe naiseks,

³And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, who took her to be his wife;

³aga see teine mees vihkab teda samuti ja kirjutab temale lahutuskirja ning annab selle temale kätte ja saadab tema ära oma kojast, või kui see teine mees sureb, kes võttis tema enesele naiseks,

⁴her former husband, who sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before Jehovah: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which Jehovah thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

⁴siis tema esimene abielumees, kes tema ära saatis, ei või teda tagasi võtta, et ta saaks tema naiseks, pärast seda kui ta on saanud roojaseks, sest see oleks jäleduseks Issanda ees. Ära tee patuseks maad, mille Issand, su Jumal, annab sulle pärisosaks!

⁵When a man taketh a new wife, he shall not go out in the host, neither shall he be charged with any business: he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer his wife whom he hath taken.

⁵Kui mees äsja on võtnud naise, siis ta ei tarvitse sõtta minna; tema peale ärgu pandagu mingit muud kohustust, ta olgu üks aasta vaba oma pere jaoks ja ta rõõmustagu oma naist, kelle ta on võtnud!

⁶No man shall take the mill or the upper millstone to pledge; for he taketh [a man's] life to pledge.

⁶Käsikivi, isegi mitte pealmist kivi, ei tohi pandiks võtta, sest see oleks hinge pandiks võtmine.

⁷If a man be found stealing any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and he deal with him as a slave, or sell him; then that thief shall die: so shalt thou put away the evil from the midst of thee.

⁷Kui tabatakse mees, kes on inimese varastanud oma vendadelt Iisraeli lastelt, orjastab selle ja müüb selle, siis peab see varas surema. Nõnda kõrvalda kurjus enese keskelt!

⁸Take heed in the plague of leprosy, that thou observe diligently, and do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you: as I commanded them, so ye shall observe to do.

⁸Hoidu pidalitõve nuhtluse eest, et sa täpselt paned tähele ja teed kõike, mis leviitpreestrid teile õpetavad; mis ma neile olen andnud käsuna, seda pidage hoolsasti!

⁹Remember what Jehovah thy God did unto Miriam, by the way as ye came forth out of Egypt.

⁹Tuleta meelde, mis Issand, su Jumal, tegi Mirjamile teel, kui te olite lahkunud Egiptusest!

¹⁰When thou dost lend thy neighbor any manner of loan, thou shalt not go into his house to fetch his pledge.

¹⁰Kui sa midagi laenad oma ligimesele, siis ära mine ta kotta temalt panti võtma!

¹¹Thou shalt stand without, and the man to whom thou dost lend shall bring forth the pledge without unto thee.

¹¹Jää õue, ja mees, kellele sa laenasid, toogu sulle pant välja õue!

¹²And if he be a poor man, thou shalt not sleep with his pledge;

¹²Ja kui ta on kehv mees, siis ära heida magama ta pandiga,

¹³thou shalt surely restore to him the pledge when the sun goeth down, that he may sleep in his garment, and bless thee: and it shall be righteousness unto thee before Jehovah thy God.

¹³vaid anna temale pant tagasi kohe, kui päike loojub, et ta saaks magada oma kuue peal ja sind õnnistada; see olgu sulle õiguseks Issanda, su Jumala ees!

¹⁴Thou shalt not oppress a hired servant that is poor and needy, whether he be of thy brethren, or of thy sojourners that are in thy land within thy gates:

¹⁴Ära tee liiga kehvale ja viletsale palgalisele, olgu ta su vendade või võõraste seltsist, kes asuvad su maal su väravais.

¹⁵in his day thou shalt give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down upon it; for he is poor, and setteth his heart upon it: lest he cry against thee unto Jehovah, and it be sin unto thee.

¹⁵Anna temale ta palk samal päeval, enne kui päike loojub, sest ta on kehv ja ta hing igatseb seda palka, et ta ei hüüaks su pärast Issanda poole - see oleks sulle patuks!

¹⁶The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

¹⁶Isasid ärgu surmatagu laste pärast ja lapsi ärgu surmatagu isade pärast: igaüks surmatagu oma patu pärast!

¹⁷Thou shalt not wrest the justice [due] to the sojourner, [or] to the fatherless, nor take the widow's raiment to pledge;

¹⁷Ära vääna võõra ja vaeslapse õigust, ja ära võta pandiks lesknaise riideid!

¹⁸but thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt, and Jehovah thy God redeemed thee thence: therefore I command thee to do this thing.

¹⁸Ja tuleta meelde, et sa ise olid ori Egiptuses, ja et Issand, su Jumal, lunastas sind sealt; sellepärast ma käsin sind seda teha!

¹⁹When thou reapest thy harvest in thy field, and hast forgot a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fetch it: it shall be for the sojourner, for the fatherless, and for the widow; that Jehovah thy God may bless thee in all the work of thy hands.

¹⁹Kui sa lõikust kogud oma põllult ja unustad põllule ühe vihu, siis ära mine tagasi seda võtma; see jäägu võõrale, vaeslapsele ja lesknaisele, et Issand, su Jumal, õnnistaks sind kõigis su kätetöis!

²⁰When thou beatest thine olive-tree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again: it shall be for the sojourner, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

²⁰Kui sa raputad oma õlipuud, siis pärast ära otsi oksi läbi; see jäägu võõrale, vaeslapsele ja lesknaisele!

²¹When thou gatherest [the grapes of] thy vineyard, thou shalt not glean it after thee: it shall be for the sojourner, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

²¹Kui sa koristad oma viinamäge, siis ära lase järel noppida; see jäägu võõrale, vaeslapsele ja lesknaisele!

²²And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt: therefore I command thee to do this thing.

²²Pea meeles, et sa ise olid ori Egiptusemaal, sellepärast ma käsin sind seda teha!
