¹Again, in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth [day] of the month, the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

¹Ja üheksandal aastal, kümnenda kuu kümnendal päeval tuli mulle Issanda sõna; ta ütles:

²Son of man, write thee the name of the day, [even] of this selfsame day: the king of Babylon drew close unto Jerusalem this selfsame day.

²'Inimesepoeg, kirjuta enesele üles päeva nimi, just tänase päeva nimi: Paabeli kuningas ründab Jeruusalemma just täna!

³And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Set on the caldron, set it on, and also pour water into it:

³Ja räägi vastupanijale soole tähendamissõna ning ütle neile: Nõnda ütleb Issand Jumal: Pane pott tulele, pane, ja vala sisse ka vett!

⁴gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.

⁴Kogu sellesse lihatükid, kõik head tükid: saps ja abaluu, täida see valitud kontidega!

⁵Take the choice of the flock, and also a pile [of wood] for the bones under [the caldron]; make it boil well; yea, let the bones thereof be boiled in the midst of it.

⁵Võta valitud lammas ja lao selle alla ka puid; keeda vägevasti, hauta selle sees ta kontegi!

⁶Wherefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe to the bloody city, to the caldron whose rust is therein, and whose rust is not gone out of it! take out of it piece after piece; No lot is fallen upon it.

⁶Seepärast ütleb Issand Jumal nõnda: Häda veresüüga linnale, roostetanud potile, mille küljest rooste ära ei lähe! Tühjenda see tükk tüki järel ilma liisku heitmata!

⁷For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the bare rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust.

⁷Sest tema valatud veri on tema keskel: ta pani selle palja kalju peale ega valanud maha, et seda põrmuga katta.

⁸That it may cause wrath to come up to take vengeance, I have set her blood upon the bare rock, that it should not be covered.

⁸Viha õhutamiseks, kättemaksu teostamiseks panin ka mina tema vere palja kalju peale, et seda ei saaks peita.

⁹Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great.

⁹Seepärast ütleb Issand Jumal nõnda: Häda veresüüga linnale! Minagi suurendan tuleriita.

¹⁰Heap on the wood, make the fire hot, boil well the flesh, and make thick the broth, and let the bones be burned.

¹⁰Lisa puid, süüta tuli, keeda liha pehmeks, keeda leent, nii et kondid hakkavad kõrbema!

¹¹Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that it may be hot, and the brass thereof may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the rust of it may be consumed.

¹¹Pane siis pott tühjalt süte peale, et see kuumeneks ja vask hakkaks hõõguma, et selle mustus sulaks, rooste kaoks!

¹²She hath wearied [herself] with toil; yet her great rust goeth not forth out of her; her rust [goeth not forth] by fire.

¹²Vaeva on nähtud, aga selle küljest ei ole läinud see rohke rooste - see ei kadunud tuleski!

¹³In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have cleansed thee and thou wast not cleansed, thou shalt not be cleansed from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my wrath toward thee to rest.

¹³Oma häbiväärse mustuse tõttu - ma tahtsin sind küll puhastada, aga sina ei läinud puhtaks oma mustusest - sina ei saagi enam puhtaks, enne kui ma olen su kallal vaigistanud oma viha.

¹⁴I, Jehovah, have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it: I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord Jehovah.

¹⁴Mina, Issand, olen rääkinud. See sünnib ja seda ma teen. Ma ei jäta seda unarusse ja ma ei kurvasta ega kahetse: su teede ja tegude järgi mõistetakse kohut su üle, ütleb Issand Jumal.'

¹⁵Also the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

¹⁵Ja mulle tuli Issanda sõna; ta ütles:

¹⁶Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet thou shalt neither mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down.

¹⁶'Inimesepoeg, vaata, äkilise surma läbi ma võtan sinult ära su silmarõõmu, aga ära kaeba ega nuta ja sul ärgu tulgu pisaratki!

¹⁷Sigh, but not aloud, make no mourning for the dead; bind thy headtire upon thee, and put thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men.

¹⁷Oiga tasa, ära tee leinakaebust surnute pärast! Mähi enesele peamähis pähe ja pane jalatsid jalga, ära kata kinni oma habet ja ära söö leinaleiba!'

¹⁸So I spake unto the people in the morning; and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.

¹⁸Kui ma hommikul rääkisin seda rahvale - õhtul oli surnud mu naine ja ma tegin järgmisel hommikul, nagu mind oli kästud -,

¹⁹And the people said unto me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou doest so?

²⁰Then I said unto them, The word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

²⁰Ja ma vastasin neile: 'Mulle tuli Issanda sõna; ta ütles:

²¹Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left behind shall fall by the sword.

²¹Ütle Iisraeli soole: Nõnda ütleb Issand Jumal: Vaata, mina teotan ära oma pühamu, teie võimu uhkuse, teie silmade rõõmu ja teie hinge igatsuse; ja teie pojad ja tütred, kes teile järele jäävad, langevad mõõga läbi.

²²And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men.

²²Siis te teete, nagu mina olen teinud: te ei kata kinni oma habet ega söö leinaleiba,

²³And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet: ye shall not mourn nor weep; but ye shall pine away in your iniquities, and moan one toward another.

²³teil on peamähis peas ja jalatsid jalas; te ei kaeba ega nuta, vaid hääbute oma süütegudes ja ägate isekeskis.

²⁴Thus shall Ezekiel be unto you a sign; according to all that he hath done shall ye do: when this cometh, then shall ye know that I am the Lord Jehovah.

²⁴Hesekiel on teile endeks: just nagu tema on teinud, peate teiegi tegema. Kui see sünnib, siis te saate tunda, et mina olen Issand Jumal.

²⁵And thou, son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their heart, their sons and their daughters,

²⁵Ja sina, inimesepoeg! Tõesti, sel päeval, kui ma võtan neilt ära nende pelgupaiga, nende suurepärase rõõmu, nende silmarõõmu ja hinge igatsuse, nende pojad ja tütred,

²⁶that in that day he that escapeth shall come unto thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears?

²⁷In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him that is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb: so shalt thou be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.

²⁷Sel päeval, kui põgenik tuleb, avaneb su suu ja sa räägid ega ole enam tumm. Sina oled neile endeks ja nad saavad tunda, et mina olen Issand.'
