1The sons of Judah: Perez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal.

1בני יהודה פרץ חצרון וכרמי וחור ושובל׃
2And Reaiah the son of Shobal begat Jahath; and Jahath begat Ahumai and Lahad. These are the families of the Zorathites.
2Reaja, fils de Schobal, engendra Jachath; Jachath engendra Achumaï et Lahad. Ce sont les familles des Tsoreathiens.
2וראיה בן שובל הוליד את יחת ויחת הליד את אחומי ואת להד אלה משפחות הצרעתי׃
3And these were [the sons of] the father of Etam: Jezreel, and Ishma, and Idbash; and the name of their sister was Hazzelelponi;
3Voici les descendants du père d'Etham: Jizreel, Jischma et Jidbasch; le nom de leur soeur était Hatselelponi.
3ואלה אבי עיטם יזרעאל וישמא וידבש ושם אחותם הצללפוני׃
4and Penuel the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These are the sons of Hur, the first-born of Ephrathah, the father of Beth-lehem.
4Penuel était père de Guedor, et Ezer père de Huscha. Ce sont là les fils de Hur, premier-né d'Ephrata, père de Bethléhem.
4ופנואל אבי גדר ועזר אבי חושה אלה בני חור בכור אפרתה אבי בית לחם׃
5And Ashhur the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah.
5Aschchur, père de Tekoa, eut deux femmes, Hélea et Naara.
5ולאשחור אבי תקוע היו שתי נשים חלאה ונערה׃
6And Naarah bare him Ahuzzam, and Hepher, and Temeni, and Haahashtari. These were the sons of Naarah.
6Naara lui enfanta Achuzzam, Hépher, Thémeni et Achaschthari: ce sont là les fils de Naara.
6ותלד לו נערה את אחזם ואת חפר ואת תימני ואת האחשתרי אלה בני נערה׃
7And the sons of Helah were Zereth, Izhar, and Ethnan.
7Fils de Hélea: Tséreth, Tsochar et Ethnan.
7ובני חלאה צרת יצחר ואתנן׃
8And Hakkoz begat Anub, and Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum.
8Kots engendra Anub et Hatsobéba, et les familles d'Acharchel, fils d'Harum.
8וקוץ הוליד את ענוב ואת הצבבה ומשפחות אחרחל בן הרום׃
9And Jabez was more honorable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.
9Jaebets était plus considéré que ses frères; sa mère lui donna le nom de Jaebets, en disant: C'est parce que je l'ai enfanté avec douleur.
9ויהי יעבץ נכבד מאחיו ואמו קראה שמו יעבץ לאמר כי ילדתי בעצב׃
10And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my border, and that thy hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it be not to my sorrow! And God granted him that which he requested.
10Jaebets invoqua le Dieu d'Israël, en disant: Si tu me bénis et que tu étendes mes limites, si ta main est avec moi, et si tu me préserves du malheur, en sorte que je ne sois pas dans la souffrance!... Et Dieu accorda ce qu'il avait demandé.
10ויקרא יעבץ לאלהי ישראל לאמר אם ברך תברכני והרבית את גבולי והיתה ידך עמי ועשית מרעה לבלתי עצבי ויבא אלהים את אשר שאל׃
11And Chelub the brother of Shuhah begat Mehir, who was the father of Eshton.
11Kelub, frère de Schucha, engendra Mechir, qui fut père d'Eschthon.
11וכלוב אחי שוחה הוליד את מחיר הוא אבי אשתון׃
12And Eshton begat Beth-rapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of Ir-nahash. These are the men of Recah.
12Eschthon engendra la maison de Rapha, Paséach, et Thechinna, père de la ville de Nachasch. Ce sont là les hommes de Réca.
12ואשתון הוליד את בית רפא ואת פסח ואת תחנה אבי עיר נחש אלה אנשי רכה׃
13And the sons of Kenaz: Othniel, and Seraiah. And the sons of Othniel: Hathath.
13Fils de Kenaz: Othniel et Seraja. Fils d'Othniel: Hathath.
13ובני קנז עתניאל ושריה ובני עתניאל חתת׃
14And Meonothai begat Ophrah: and Seraiah begat Joab the father of Ge-harashim; for they were craftsmen.
14Meonothaï engendra Ophra. Seraja engendra Joab, père de la vallée des ouvriers; car ils étaient ouvriers.
14ומעונתי הוליד את עפרה ושריה הוליד את יואב אבי גיא חרשים כי חרשים היו׃
15And the sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam; and the sons of Elah; and Kenaz.
15Fils de Caleb, fils de Jephunné: Iru, Ela et Naam, et les fils d'Ela, et Kenaz.
15ובני כלב בן יפנה עירו אלה ונעם ובני אלה וקנז׃
16And the sons of Jehallelel: Ziph, and Ziphah, Tiria, and Asarel.
16Fils de Jehalléleel: Ziph, Zipha, Thirja et Asareel.
16ובני יהללאל זיף וזיפה תיריא ואשראל׃
17And the sons of Ezrah: Jether, and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon; and she bare Miriam, and Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa.
17Fils d'Esdras: Jéther, Méred, Epher et Jalon. La femme de Méred enfanta Miriam, Schammaï, et Jischbach, père d'Eschthemoa.
17ובן עזרה יתר ומרד ועפר וילון ותהר את מרים ואת שמי ואת ישבח אבי אשתמע׃
18And his wife the Jewess bare Jered the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah. And these are the sons of Bithiah the daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered took.
18Sa femme, la Juive, enfanta Jéred, père de Guedor, Héber, père de Soco, et Jekuthiel, père de Zanoach. Ceux-là sont les fils de Bithja, fille de Pharaon, que Méred prit pour femme.
18ואשתו היהדיה ילדה את ירד אבי גדור ואת חבר אבי שוכו ואת יקותיאל אבי זנוח ואלה בני בתיה בת פרעה אשר לקח מרד׃
19And the sons of the wife of Hodiah, the sister of Naham, were the father of Keilah the Garmite, and Eshtemoa the Maacathite.
19Fils de la femme d'Hodija, soeur de Nacham: le père de Kehila, le Garmien, et Eschthemoa, le Maacathien.
19ובני אשת הודיה אחות נחם אבי קעילה הגרמי ואשתמע המעכתי׃
20And the sons of Shimon: Amnon, and Rinnah, Ben-hanan, and Tilon. And the sons of Ishi: Zoheth, and Ben-zoheth.
20Fils de Simon: Amnon, Rinna, Ben-Hanan et Thilon. Fils de Jischeï: Zocheth et Ben-Zocheth.
20ובני שימון אמנון ורנה בן חנן ותולון ובני ישעי זוחת ובן זוחת׃
21The sons of Shelah the son of Judah: Er the father of Lecah, and Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of them that wrought fine linen, of the house of Ashbea;
21Fils de Schéla, fils de Juda: Er, père de Léca, Laeda, père de Maréscha, et les familles de la maison où l'on travaille le byssus, de la maison d'Aschbéa,
21בני שלה בן יהודה ער אבי לכה ולעדה אבי מרשה ומשפחות בית עבדת הבץ לבית אשבע׃
22and Jokim, and the men of Cozeba, and Joash, and Saraph, who had dominion in Moab, and Jashubilehem. And the records are ancient.
22et Jokim, et les hommes de Cozéba, et Joas et Saraph, qui dominèrent sur Moab, et Jaschubi-Léchem. Ces choses sont anciennes.
22ויוקים ואנשי כזבא ויואש ושרף אשר בעלו למואב וישבי לחם והדברים עתיקים׃
23These were the potters, and the inhabitants of Netaim and Gederah: there they dwelt with the king for his work.
23C'étaient les potiers et les habitants des plantations et des parcs; ils demeuraient là près du roi et travaillaient pour lui.
23המה היוצרים וישבי נטעים וגדרה עם המלך במלאכתו ישבו שם׃
24The sons of Simeon: Nemuel, and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Shaul;
24Fils de Siméon: Nemuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zérach, Saül.
24בני שמעון נמואל וימין יריב זרח שאול׃
25Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son.
25Fils de Saül: Schallum. Mibsam, son fils; Mischma, son fils.
25שלם בנו מבשם בנו משמע בנו׃
26And the sons of Mishma: Hammuel his son, Zaccur his son, Shimei his son.

26ובני משמע חמואל בנו זכור בנו שמעי בנו׃
27And Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brethren had not many children, neither did all their family multiply like to the children of Judah.
27Schimeï eut seize fils et six filles. Ses frères n'eurent pas beaucoup de fils. Et toutes leurs familles ne se multiplièrent pas autant que les fils de Juda.
27ולשמעי בנים ששה עשר ובנות שש ולאחיו אין בנים רבים וכל משפחתם לא הרבו עד בני יהודה׃
28And they dwelt at Beer-sheba, and Moladah, and Hazarshual,
28Ils habitaient à Beer-Schéba, à Molada, à Hatsar-Schual,
28וישבו בבאר שבע ומולדה וחצר שועל׃
29and at Bilhah, and at Ezem, and at Tolad,
29Bilha, à Etsem, à Tholad,
29ובבלהה ובעצם ובתולד׃
30and at Bethuel, and at Hormah, and at Ziklag,
30Bethuel, à Horma, à Tsiklag,
30ובבתואל ובחרמה ובציקלג׃
31and at Beth-marcaboth, and Hazar-susim, and at Beth-biri, and at Shaaraim. These were their cities unto the reign of David.
31Beth-Marcaboth, à Hatsar-Susim, à Beth-Bireï et à Schaaraïm. Ce furent là leurs villes jusqu'au règne de David, et leurs villages.
31ובבית מרכבות ובחצר סוסים ובבית בראי ובשערים אלה עריהם עד מלך דויד׃
32And their villages were Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, five cities;
32Ils avaient encore Etham, Aïn, Rimmon, Thoken et Aschan, cinq villes;
32וחצריהם עיטם ועין רמון ותכן ועשן ערים חמש׃
33and all their villages that were round about the same cities, unto Baal. These were their habitations, and they have their genealogy.
33et tous les villages aux environs de ces villes, jusqu'à Baal. Voilà leurs habitations et leur généalogie.
33וכל חצריהם אשר סביבות הערים האלה עד בעל זאת מושבתם והתיחשם להם׃
34And Meshobab, and Jamlech, and Joshah the son of Amaziah,
34Meschobab; Jamlec; Joscha, fils d'Amatsia;
34ומשובב וימלך ויושה בן אמציה׃
35and Joel, and Jehu the son of Joshibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel,
35Joël; Jéhu, fils de Joschibia, fils de Seraja, fils d'Asiel;
35ויואל ויהוא בן יושביה בן שריה בן עשיאל׃
36and Elioenai, and Jaakobah, and Jeshohaiah, and Asaiah, and Adiel, and Jesimiel, and Benaiah,
36Eljoénaï; Jaakoba; Jeschochaja; Asaja; Adiel; Jesimiel; Benaja;
36ואליועיני ויעקבה וישוחיה ועשיה ועדיאל וישימאל ובניה׃
37and Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah-
37Ziza, fils de Schipheï, fils d'Allon, fils de Jedaja, fils de Schimri, fils de Schemaeja.
37וזיזא בן שפעי בן אלון בן ידיה בן שמרי בן שמעיה׃
38these mentioned by name were princes in their families: and their fathers' houses increased greatly.
38Ceux-là, désignés par leurs noms, étaient princes dans leurs familles, et leurs maisons paternelles prirent un grand accroissement.
38אלה הבאים בשמות נשיאים במשפחותם ובית אבותיהם פרצו לרוב׃
39And they went to the entrance of Gedor, even unto the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.
39Ils allèrent du côté de Guedor jusqu'à l'orient de la vallée, afin de chercher des pâturages pour leurs troupeaux.
39וילכו למבוא גדר עד למזרח הגיא לבקש מרעה לצאנם׃
40And they found fat pasture and good, and the land was wide, and quiet, and peaceable; for they that dwelt there aforetime were of Ham.
40Ils trouvèrent de gras et bons pâturages, et un pays vaste, tranquille et paisible, car ceux qui l'habitaient auparavant descendaient de Cham.
40וימצאו מרעה שמן וטוב והארץ רחבת ידים ושקטת ושלוה כי מן חם הישבים שם לפנים׃
41And these written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and smote their tents, and the Meunim that were found there, and destroyed them utterly unto this day, and dwelt in their stead; because there was pasture there for their flocks.
41Ces hommes, inscrits par leurs noms, arrivèrent du temps d'Ezéchias, roi de Juda; ils attaquèrent leurs tentes et les Maonites qui se trouvaient là, ils les dévouèrent par interdit jusqu'à ce jour, et ils s'établirent à leur place, car il y avait là des pâturages pour leurs troupeaux.
41ויבאו אלה הכתובים בשמות בימי יחזקיהו מלך יהודה ויכו את אהליהם ואת המעינים אשר נמצאו שמה ויחרימם עד היום הזה וישבו תחתיהם כי מרעה לצאנם שם׃
42And some of them, even of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went to mount Seir, having for their captains Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.
42Il y eut aussi des fils de Siméon qui allèrent à la montagne de Séir, au nombre de cinq cents hommes. Ils avaient à leur tête Pelathia, Nearia, Rephaja et Uziel, fils de Jischeï.
42ומהם מן בני שמעון הלכו להר שעיר אנשים חמש מאות ופלטיה ונעריה ורפיה ועזיאל בני ישעי בראשם׃
43And they smote the remnant of the Amalekites that escaped, and have dwelt there unto this day.
43Ils battirent le reste des réchappés d'Amalek, et ils s'établirent là jusqu'à ce jour.
43ויכו את שארית הפלטה לעמלק וישבו שם עד היום הזה׃
