¹Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the elect who are sojourners of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

¹Pierre, apôtre de Jésus-Christ, à ceux qui sont étrangers et dispersés dans le Pont, la Galatie, la Cappadoce, l'Asie et la Bithynie,

¹פטרוס שליח ישוע המשיח אל תושבי תפוצות פנטוס גלטיא קפודקיא אסיא וביתוניא׃

²according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.

²et qui sont élus selon la prescience de Dieu le Père, par la sanctification de l'Esprit, afin qu'ils deviennent obéissants, et qu'ils participent à l'aspersion du sang de Jésus-Christ: que la grâce et la paix vous soient multipliées!

²הנבחרים מקדם כפי דעת אלהים האב בקדוש הרוח אל משמעת ישוע המשיח ואל הזית דמו חסד ושלום למכביר יהיו לכם׃

³Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy begat us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

³Béni soit Dieu, le Père de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, qui, selon sa grande miséricorde, nous a régénérés, pour une espérance vivante, par la résurrection de Jésus-Christ d'entre les morts,

³ברוך האלהים אבי אדנינו ישוע המשיח אשר כרב רחמיו שב והוליד אתנו לתקוה חיה בהקמת ישוע המשיח מעם המתים׃

⁴unto an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

⁴pour un héritage qui ne se peut ni corrompre, ni souiller, ni flétrir, lequel vous est réservé dans les cieux,

⁴לנחלה אשר לא תשחת ולא תגאל ולא תבל הצפונה בשמים לכם׃

⁵who by the power of God are guarded through faith unto a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

⁵vous qui, par la puissance de Dieu, êtes gardés par la foi pour le salut prêt à être révélé dans les derniers temps!

⁵הנשמרים בעז אלהים על יד האמונה לתשועה העתידה להגלות בעת קץ׃

⁶Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, ye have been put to grief in manifold trials,

⁶C'est là ce qui fait votre joie, quoique maintenant, puisqu'il le faut, vous soyez attristés pour un peu de temps par diverses épreuves,

⁶אשר בה תגילו אתם המתעצבים עתה מעט לפי הצרך במסת שנות׃

⁷that the proof of your faith, [being] more precious than gold that perisheth though it is proved by fire, may be found unto praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ:

⁷afin que l'épreuve de votre foi, plus précieuse que l'or périssable qui cependant est éprouvé par le feu, ait pour résultat la louange, la gloire et l'honneur, lorsque Jésus-Christ apparaîtra,

⁷למען תמצא אמונתכם המזקקה יקרה הרבה מן הזהב האבד הצרוף באש לתהלה ולכבוד ולתפארת בהתגלות ישוע המשיח׃

⁸whom not having seen ye love; on whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice greatly with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

⁸lui que vous aimez sans l'avoir vu, en qui vous croyez sans le voir encore, vous réjouissant d'une joie ineffable et glorieuse,

⁸אשר אהבתם ולא ראיתם ואשר עתה תאמינו בו בלא ראות אתו ובכן תגילו בשמחה מפארה עצמה מספר׃

⁹receiving the end of your faith, [even] the salvation of [your] souls.

⁹parce que vous obtiendrez le salut de vos âmes pour prix de votre foi.

⁹בקחתכם עקב אמונתכם תשועה לנפשתיכם׃

¹⁰Concerning which salvation the prophets sought and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that [should come] unto you:

¹⁰Les prophètes, qui ont prophétisé touchant la grâce qui vous était réservée, ont fait de ce salut l'objet de leurs recherches et de leurs investigations,

¹⁰את התשועה אשר עליה חקרו ודרשו הנביאים הנבאים על החסד השמור לכם׃

¹¹searching what [time] or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did point unto, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glories that should follow them.

¹¹voulant sonder l'époque et les circonstances marquées par l'Esprit de Christ qui était en eux, et qui attestait d'avance les souffrances de Christ et la gloire dont elles seraient suivies.

¹¹בחקרם לדעת מתי ואיך תהיה העת אשר הודיעה רוח המשיח אשר בקרבם בהגידו מראש את ענויי המשיח ואת הגדלות אשר אחריהם׃

¹²To whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto you, did they minister these things, which now have been announced unto you through them that preached the gospel unto you by the Holy Spirit sent forth from heaven; which things angel desire to look into.

¹²Il leur fut révélé que ce n'était pas pour eux-mêmes, mais pour vous, qu'ils étaient les dispensateurs de ces choses, que vous ont annoncées maintenant ceux qui vous ont prêché l'Evangile par le Saint-Esprit envoyé du ciel, et dans lesquelles les anges désirent plonger leurs regards.

¹²ונגלה להם כי לא לפנשם כי אם לנו שרתו בדברים ההם אשר הגד לכם עתה על פי המבשרים אתכם ברוח הקדש השלוח משמים דברים אשר מלאכי אלהים חמדו להשקיף אל תוכם׃

¹³Wherefore girding up the loins of your mind, be sober and set your hope perfectly on the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

¹³C'est pourquoi, ceignez les reins de votre entendement, soyez sobres, et ayez une entière espérance dans la grâce qui vous sera apportée, lorsque Jésus-Christ apparaîtra.

¹³לכן חגרו מתני שכלכם התעוררו וקוו קוה לחסד אשר יבואכם בהתגלות ישוע המשיח׃

¹⁴as children of obedience, not fashioning yourselves according to your former lusts in [the time of] your ignorance:

¹⁴Comme des enfants obéissants, ne vous conformez pas aux convoitises que vous aviez autrefois, quand vous étiez dans l'ignorance.

¹⁴כבני משמעת אל תתנהגו בתאות אשר התאויתם בעוד היותכם בבלי דעת׃

¹⁵but like as he who called you is holy, be ye yourselves also holy in all manner of living;

¹⁵Mais, puisque celui qui vous a appelés est saint, vous aussi soyez saints dans toute votre conduite,

¹⁵כי אם היו קדשים בכל דרכיכם כאשר קדוש הוא אשר קרא אתכם׃

¹⁶because it is written, Ye shall be holy; for I am holy.

¹⁶selon qu'il est écrit: Vous serez saints, car je suis saint.

¹⁶כי על כן כתוב והייתם קדשים כי קדוש אני׃

¹⁷And if ye call on him as Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to each man's work, pass the time of your sojourning in fear:

¹⁷Et si vous invoquez comme Père celui qui juge selon l'oeuvre de chacun, sans acception de personnes, conduisez-vous avec crainte pendant le temps de votre pèlerinage,

¹⁷ואם אב תקראו לאלהים השפט בבלי משא פנים כפי מעללי איש ואיש התהלכו נא ביראה בימי מגוריכם׃

¹⁸knowing that ye were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from your vain manner of life handed down from your fathers;

¹⁸sachant que ce n'est pas par des choses périssables, par de l'argent ou de l'or, que vous avez été rachetés de la vaine manière de vivre que vous aviez héritée de vos pères,

¹⁸מדעתכם כי לא בדבר נפסד בכסף או בזהב נפדיתם מדרך הבלכם אשר הנחלתם מאת אבותיכם׃

¹⁹but with precious blood, as of a lamb without spot, [even the blood] of Christ:

¹⁹mais par le sang précieux de Christ, comme d'un agneau sans défaut et sans tache,

¹⁹כי אם בדם יקר של שה תמים ומום אין בו בדם המשיח׃

²⁰who was foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but was manifested at the end of times for your sake,

²⁰prédestiné avant la fondation du monde, et manifesté à la fin des temps, à cause de vous,

²⁰הנודע מראש לפני מוסדות תבל ונגלה באחרית הימים למענכם׃

²¹who through him are believers in God, that raised him from the dead, and gave him glory; so that your faith and hope might be in God.

²¹qui par lui croyez en Dieu, lequel l'a ressuscité des morts et lui a donné la gloire, en sorte que votre foi et votre espérance reposent sur Dieu.

²¹המאמינים על פיו באלהים אשר הקים אתו מעם המתים ויתן לו כבוד למען היות אמונתכם גם תקוה לאלהים׃

²²Seeing ye have purified your souls in your obedience to the truth unto unfeigned love of the brethren, love one another from the heart fervently:

²²Ayant purifié vos âmes en obéissant à la vérité pour avoir un amour fraternel sincère, aimez-vous ardemment les uns les autres, de tout votre coeur,

²²זכו את נפשתיכם על ידי הרוח בשמעכם בקול האמת לאהבת אחים בלא חנפה ואהבתם איש את רעהו אהבה חזקה בלב טהור׃

²³having been begotten again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of God, which liveth and abideth.

²³puisque vous avez été régénérés, non par une semence corruptible, mais par une semence incorruptible, par la parole vivante et permanente de Dieu.

²³כנולדים מחדש לא מזרע נשחת כי אם מזרע לא ישחת במאמר אלהים החי והקים לעולם׃

²⁴For, All flesh is as grass, And all the glory thereof as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower falleth:

²⁴Car Toute chair est comme l'herbe, Et toute sa gloire comme la fleur de l'herbe. L'herbe sèche, et la fleur tombe;

²⁴כי כל בשר חציר וכל כבוד איש כציץ השדה יבש חציר נבל ציץ׃

²⁵But the word of the Lord abideth for ever. And this is the word of good tidings which was preached unto you.

²⁵Mais la parole du Seigneur demeure éternellement. Et cette parole est celle qui vous a été annoncée par l'Evangile.

²⁵ודבר יהוה יקום לעולם וזה הוא הדבר אשר בשר לכם׃
