¹Would that ye could bear with me in a little foolishness: but indeed ye do bear with me.

¹Oh! si vous pouviez supporter de ma part un peu de folie! Mais vous, me supportez!

¹אחלי תשאו מעט אולתי ואף אמנם תשאוני׃

²For I am jealous over you with a godly jealousy: for I espoused you to one husband, that I might present you [as] a pure virgin to Christ.

²Car je suis jaloux de vous d'une jalousie de Dieu, parce que je vous ai fiancés à un seul époux, pour vous présenter à Christ comme une vierge pure.

²כי מקנא אני לכם קנאת אלהים כי ארשתי אתכם לאיש אחד להעמיד אתכם בתולה טהורה לפני המשיח׃

³But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve in his craftiness, your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity and the purity that is toward Christ.

³Toutefois, de même que le serpent séduisit Eve par sa ruse, je crains que vos pensées ne se corrompent et ne se détournent de la simplicité à l'égard de Christ.

³אך ירא אנכי פן כאשר השיא הנחש בערמתו את חוה כן תשטינה גם מחשבותיכם מן התמימות אשר עם המשיח׃

⁴For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we did not preach, or [if] ye receive a different spirit, which ye did not receive, or a different gospel, which ye did not accept, ye do well to bear with [him].

⁴Car, si quelqu'un vient vous prêcher un autre Jésus que celui que nous avons prêché, ou si vous recevez un autre Esprit que celui que vous avez reçu, ou un autre Evangile que celui que vous avez embrassé, vous le supportez fort bien.

⁴כי אם יבא הבא והגיד לכם ישוע אחר אשר לא הגדנהו או אם תקחו רוח אחר אשר לא לקחתם אתו או בשורה אחרת אשר לא קבלתם אתה כי עתה היטב תשאהו׃

⁵For I reckon that I am not a whit behind the very chiefest apostles.

⁵Or, j'estime que je n'ai été inférieur en rien à ces apôtres par excellence.

⁵אולם אחשב אשר אינני נפל במאומה מהשליחים הגדולים כל כך׃

⁶But though [I be] rude in speech, yet [am I] not in knowledge; nay, in every way have we made [this] manifest unto you in all things.

⁶Si je suis un ignorant sous le rapport du langage, je ne le suis point sous celui de la connaissance, et nous l'avons montré parmi vous à tous égards et en toutes choses.

⁶ואף אם בער אנכי בדבור אינני בער בדעת כי אם בכל נגלינו אליכם בפני כל אדם׃

⁷Or did I commit a sin in abasing myself that ye might be exalted, because I preached to you the gospel of God for nought?

⁷Ou bien, ai-je commis un péché parce que, m'abaissant moi-même afin que vous fussiez élevés, je vous ai annoncé gratuitement l'Evangile de Dieu?

⁷או החטא חטאתי בהשפילי את עצמי למען הגביהכם כי בשרתי אתכם בלא מחיר את בשורת האלהים׃

⁸I robbed other churches, taking wages [of them] that I might minister unto you;

⁸J'ai dépouillé d'autres Eglises, en recevant d'elles un salaire, pour vous servir.

⁸קהלות אחרות שלותי בקחתי מהן שכר למען אשרתכם ובהיותי עמכם ואחסר לא הלאיתי אדם׃

⁹and when I was present with you and was in want, I was not a burden on any man; for the brethren, when they came from Macedonia, supplied the measure of my want; and in everything I kept myself from being burdensome unto you, and [so] will I keep [myself].

⁹Et lorsque j'étais chez vous et que je me suis trouvé dans le besoin, je n'ai été à charge à personne; car les frères venus de Macédoine ont pourvu à ce qui me manquait. En toutes choses je me suis gardé de vous être à charge, et je m'en garderai.

⁹כי את מחסורי מלאו האחים בבאם ממקדוניא ובכל דבר נשמרתי מהיות לכם למשא וגם אשמר׃

¹⁰As the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall stop me of this glorying in the regions of Achaia.

¹⁰Par la vérité de Christ qui est en moi, je déclare que ce sujet de gloire ne me sera pas enlevé dans les contrées de l'Achaïe.

¹⁰באמתו של המשיח אשר בי מעיד אני בכם כי תהלתי זאת לא תכלא ממני בגלילות אכיא׃

¹¹Wherefore? because I love you not? God knoweth.

¹¹Pourquoi?... Parce que je ne vous aime pas?... Dieu le sait!

¹¹על מה זה העל אשר אינני אהב אתכם האלהים יודע׃

¹²But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them that desire an occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.

¹²Mais j'agis et j'agirai de la sorte, pour ôter ce prétexte à ceux qui cherchent un prétexte, afin qu'ils soient trouvés tels que nous dans les choses dont ils se glorifient.

¹²אבל את אשר אני עשה אוסיף לעשות לבלתי תת מקום למבקשים עלילה למען במה שיתהללו בו ימצאו דומים לנו׃

¹³For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, fashioning themselves into apostles of Christ.

¹³Ces hommes-là sont de faux apôtres, des ouvriers trompeurs, déguisés en apôtres de Christ.

¹³כי אנשים כאלה שליחי שקר הם פעלי רמיה מתחפשים לשליחי המשיח׃

¹⁴And no marvel; for even Satan fashioneth himself into an angel of light.

¹⁴Et cela n'est pas étonnant, puisque Satan lui-même se déguise en ange de lumière.

¹⁴ואיננו פלא הלא השטן גם הוא מתחפש למלאך האור׃

¹⁵It is no great thing therefore if his ministers also fashion themselves as ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works.

¹⁵Il n'est donc pas étrange que ses ministres aussi se déguisent en ministres de justice. Leur fin sera selon leurs oeuvres.

¹⁵לכן אין זה דבר גדול אם גם משרתיו יתחפשו למשרתי הצדק אשר אחריתם תהיה לפי מעלליהם׃

¹⁶I say again, let no man think me foolish; but if [ye do], yet as foolish receive me, that I also may glory a little.

¹⁶Je le répète, que personne ne me regarde comme un insensé; sinon, recevez-moi comme un insensé, afin que moi aussi, je me glorifie un peu.

¹⁶ואשוב ואמר אל נא יחשבני איש לסכל ואם אין אף כסכל קבלוני למען אתהלל מעט גם אני׃

¹⁷That which I speak, I speak not after the Lord, but as in foolishness, in this confidence of glorying.

¹⁷Ce que je dis, avec l'assurance d'avoir sujet de me glorifier, je ne le dis pas selon le Seigneur, mais comme par folie.

¹⁷את אשר אדבר לא לפי דרך האדון אנכי מדבר כי אם כמו בסכלות אעז ואתהלל׃

¹⁸Seeing that many glory after the flesh, I will glory also.

¹⁸Puisqu'il en est plusieurs qui se glorifient selon la chair, je me glorifierai aussi.

¹⁸רבים מתהללים לפי הבשר לכן אתהלל אף אני׃

¹⁹For ye bear with the foolish gladly, being wise [yourselves].

¹⁹Car vous supportez volontiers les insensés, vous qui êtes sages.

¹⁹כי נשאים אתם ברצון את הסכלים בהיותכם חכמים׃

²⁰For ye bear with a man, if he bringeth you into bondage, if he devoureth you, if he taketh you [captive], if he exalteth himself, if he smiteth you on the face.

²⁰Si quelqu'un vous asservit, si quelqu'un vous dévore, si quelqu'un s'empare de vous, si quelqu'un est arrogant, si quelqu'un vous frappe au visage, vous le supportez.

²⁰הלא תשאו אם יעביד אתכם איש אם יבלע אם ילכד אתכם אם יתנשא אם יכה אתכם על פניכם׃

²¹I speak by way of disparagement, as though we had been weak. Yet whereinsoever any is bold (I speak in foolishness), I am bold also.

²¹J'ai honte de le dire, nous avons montré de la faiblesse. Cependant, tout ce que peut oser quelqu'un, -je parle en insensé, -moi aussi, je l'ose!

²¹לחרפתנו אנכי אמר זאת כאלו היינו רפים אבל בכל אשר ירהב איש להתהלל בסכלות אמר זאת ארהב גם אנכי׃

²²Are they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so am I.

²²Sont-ils Hébreux? Moi aussi. Sont-ils Israélites? Moi aussi. Sont-ils de la postérité d'Abraham? Moi aussi.

²²עברים הם כן גם אנכי ישראלים הם כן גם אנכי זרע אברהם הם כן גם אנכי׃

²³Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as one beside himself) I more; in labors more abundantly, in prisons more abundantly, in stripes above measure, in deaths oft.

²³Sont-ils ministres de Christ? -Je parle en homme qui extravague. -Je le suis plus encore: par les travaux, bien plus; par les coups, bien plus; par les emprisonnements, bien plus. Souvent en danger de mort,

²³משרתי המשיח הם כמתהולל אמר אנכי יותר מהם יותר ביגיעות יותר למאד במכות יותר במוסרות ורב פעמים במצוקות מות׃

²⁴Of the Jews five times received I forty [stripes] save one.

²⁴cinq fois j'ai reçu des Juifs quarante coups moins un,

²⁴חמש פעמים ספגתי בידי היהודים ארבעים חסר אחת׃

²⁵Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day have I been in the deep;

²⁵trois fois j'ai été battu de verges, une fois j'ai été lapidé, trois fois j'ai fait naufrage, j'ai passé un jour et une nuit dans l'abîme.

²⁵שלש פעמים יסרתי בשוטים פעם אחת סקלתי ושלש פעמים נשברה לי הספינה ואהי במצולות ים לילה ויום׃

²⁶[in] journeyings often, [in] perils of rivers, [in] perils of robbers, [in] perils from [my] countrymen, [in] perils from the Gentiles, [in] perils in the city, [in] perils in the wilderness, [in] perils in the sea, [in] perils among false brethren;

²⁶Fréquemment en voyage, j'ai été en péril sur les fleuves, en péril de la part des brigands, en péril de la part de ceux de ma nation, en péril de la part des païens, en péril dans les villes, en péril dans les déserts, en péril sur la mer, en péril parmi les faux frères.

²⁶במסעות רבות בסכנות נהרות בסכנות שדדים בסכנות מצד בני עמי בסכנות מצד הגוים סכנות בעיר סכנות במדבר סכנות בים סכנות בתוך אחי שקר׃

²⁷[in] labor and travail, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

²⁷J'ai été dans le travail et dans la peine, exposé à de nombreuses veilles, à la faim et à la soif, à des jeûnes multipliés, au froid et à la nudité.

²⁷בעמל ובתלאה בשקידות הרבה ברעב ובצמא בצומות הרבה בקר ובעירום׃

²⁸Besides those things that are without, there is that which presseth upon me daily, anxiety for all the churches.

²⁸Et, sans parler d'autres choses, je suis assiégé chaque jour par les soucis que me donnent toutes les Eglises.

²⁸מלבד שאר הדברים הבאים עלי יום יום והדאגה לכל הקהלות׃

²⁹Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is caused to stumble, and I burn not?

²⁹Qui est faible, que je ne sois faible? Qui vient à tomber, que je ne brûle?

²⁹מי יחלש ואני לא אחלש מי יכשל ולא יבער לבי׃

³⁰If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things that concern my weakness.

³⁰S'il faut se glorifier, c'est de ma faiblesse que je me glorifierai!

³⁰אם יש להתהלל אתהלל בחלשתי׃

³¹The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, he who is blessed for evermore knoweth that I lie not.

³¹Dieu, qui est le Père du Seigneur Jésus, et qui est béni éternellement, sait que je ne mens point!...

³¹האלהים אבי ישוע המשיח אדנינו המברך לעולמי עולמים הוא ידע כי לא אשקר׃

³²In Damascus the governor under Aretas the king guarded the city of the Damascenes in order to take me:

³²A Damas, le gouverneur du roi Arétas faisait garder la ville des Damascéniens, pour se saisir de moi;

³²בדמשק שמר הנצב של המלך ארטס את עיר הדמשקיין ויבקש לתפשני׃

³³and through a window was I let down in a basket by the wall, and escaped his hands.

³³mais on me descendit par une fenêtre, dans une corbeille, le long de la muraille, et j'échappai de leurs mains.

³³ובעד החלון הורידו אתי בסל מעל החומה ואמלט מידיו׃
