1Now Elisha had spoken unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thy household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for Jehovah hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.
1Elisée dit à la femme dont il avait fait revivre le fils: Lève-toi, va t'en, toi et ta maison, et séjourne où tu pourras; car l'Eternel appelle la famine, et même elle vient sur le pays pour sept années.
1ואלישע דבר אל האשה אשר החיה את בנה לאמר קומי ולכי אתי וביתך וגורי באשר תגורי כי קרא יהוה לרעב וגם בא אל הארץ שבע שנים׃
2And the woman arose, and did according to the word of the man of God; and she went with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.
2La femme se leva, et elle fit selon la parole de l'homme de Dieu: elle s'en alla, elle et sa maison, et séjourna sept ans au pays des Philistins.
2ותקם האשה ותעש כדבר איש האלהים ותלך היא וביתה ותגר בארץ פלשתים שבע שנים׃
3And it came to pass at the seven years' end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land.
3Au bout des sept ans, la femme revint du pays des Philistins, et elle alla implorer le roi au sujet de sa maison et de son champ.
3ויהי מקצה שבע שנים ותשב האשה מארץ פלשתים ותצא לצעק אל המלך אל ביתה ואל שדה׃
4Now the king was talking with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.
4Le roi s'entretenait avec Guéhazi, serviteur de l'homme de Dieu, et il disait: Raconte-moi, je te prie, toutes les grandes choses qu'Elisée a faites.
4והמלך מדבר אל גחזי נער איש האלהים לאמר ספרה נא לי את כל הגדלות אשר עשה אלישע׃
5And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored to life him that was dead, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.
5Et pendant qu'il racontait au roi comment Elisée avait rendu la vie à un mort, la femme dont Elisée avait fait revivre le fils vint implorer le roi au sujet de sa maison et de son champ. Guéhazi dit: O roi, mon seigneur, voici la femme, et voici son fils qu'Elisée a fait revivre.
5ויהי הוא מספר למלך את אשר החיה את המת והנה האשה אשר החיה את בנה צעקת אל המלך על ביתה ועל שדה ויאמר גחזי אדני המלך זאת האשה וזה בנה אשר החיה אלישע׃
6And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed unto her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.
6Le roi interrogea la femme, et elle lui fit le récit. Puis le roi lui donna un eunuque, auquel il dit: Fais restituer tout ce qui appartient à cette femme, avec tous les revenus du champ, depuis le jour où elle a quitté le pays jusqu'à maintenant.
6וישאל המלך לאשה ותספר לו ויתן לה המלך סריס אחד לאמר השיב את כל אשר לה ואת כל תבואת השדה מיום עזבה את הארץ ועד עתה׃
7And Elisha came to Damascus; and Benhadad the king of Syria was sick; and it was told him, saying, The man of God is come hither.
7Elisée se rendit à Damas. Ben-Hadad, roi de Syrie, était malade; et on l'avertit, en disant: L'homme de Dieu est arrivé ici.
7ויבא אלישע דמשק ובן הדד מלך ארם חלה ויגד לו לאמר בא איש האלהים עד הנה׃
8And the king said unto Hazael, Take a present in thy hand, and go, meet the man of God, and inquire of Jehovah by him, saying, Shall I recover of this sickness?
8Le roi dit à Hazaël: Prends avec toi un présent, et va au-devant de l'homme de Dieu; consulte par lui l'Eternel, en disant: Guérirai-je de cette maladie?
8ויאמר המלך אל חזהאל קח בידך מנחה ולך לקראת איש האלהים ודרשת את יהוה מאותו לאמר האחיה מחלי זה׃
9So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels' burden, and came and stood before him, and said, Thy son Benhadad king of Syria hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recover of this sickness?
9Hazaël alla au-devant d'Elisée, prenant avec lui un présent, tout ce qu'il y avait de meilleur à Damas, la charge de quarante chameaux. Lorsqu'il fut arrivé, il se présenta à lui, et dit: Ton fils Ben-Hadad, roi de Syrie, m'envoie vers toi pour dire: Guérirai-je de cette maladie?
9וילך חזאל לקראתו ויקח מנחה בידו וכל טוב דמשק משא ארבעים גמל ויבא ויעמד לפניו ויאמר בנך בן הדד מלך ארם שלחני אליך לאמר האחיה מחלי זה׃
10And Elisha said unto him, Go, say unto him, Thou shalt surely recover; howbeit Jehovah hath showed me that he shall surely die.
10Elisée lui répondit: Va, dis-lui: Tu guériras! Mais l'Eternel m'a révélé qu'il mourra.
10ויאמר אליו אלישע לך אמר לא חיה תחיה והראני יהוה כי מות ימות׃
11And he settled his countenance stedfastly [upon him], until he was ashamed: and the man of God wept.
11L'homme de Dieu arrêta son regard sur Hazaël, et le fixa longtemps, puis il pleura.
11ויעמד את פניו וישם עד בש ויבך איש האלהים׃
12And Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strongholds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash in pieces their little ones, and rip up their women with child.
12Hazaël dit: Pourquoi mon seigneur pleure-t-il? Et Elisée répondit: Parce que je sais le mal que tu feras aux enfants d'Israël; tu mettras le feu à leurs villes fortes, tu tueras avec l'épée leurs jeunes gens, tu écraseras leurs petits enfants, et tu fendras le ventre de leurs femmes enceintes.
12ויאמר חזאל מדוע אדני בכה ויאמר כי ידעתי את אשר תעשה לבני ישראל רעה מבצריהם תשלח באש ובחריהם בחרב תהרג ועלליהם תרטש והרתיהם תבקע׃
13And Hazael said, But what is thy servant, who is but a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, Jehovah hath showed me that thou shalt be king over Syria.
13Hazaël dit: Mais qu'est-ce que ton serviteur, ce chien, pour faire de si grandes choses? Et Elisée dit: L'Eternel m'a révélé que tu seras roi de Syrie.
13ויאמר חזהאל כי מה עבדך הכלב כי יעשה הדבר הגדול הזה ויאמר אלישע הראני יהוה אתך מלך על ארם׃
14Then he departed from Elisha, and came to his master; who said to him, What said Elisha to thee? And he answered, He told me that thou wouldest surely recover.
14Hazaël quitta Elisée, et revint auprès de son maître, qui lui dit: Que t'a dit Elisée? Et il répondit: Il m'a dit: Tu guériras!
14וילך מאת אלישע ויבא אל אדניו ויאמר לו מה אמר לך אלישע ויאמר אמר לי חיה תחיה׃
15And it came to pass on the morrow, that he took the coverlet, and dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, so that he died: and Hazael reigned in his stead.
15Le lendemain, Hazaël prit une couverture, qu'il plongea dans l'eau, et il l'étendit sur le visage du roi, qui mourut. Et Hazaël régna à sa place.
15ויהי ממחרת ויקח המכבר ויטבל במים ויפרש על פניו וימת וימלך חזהאל תחתיו׃
16And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.
16La cinquième année de Joram, fils d'Achab, roi d'Israël, Joram, fils de Josaphat, roi de Juda, régna.
16ובשנת חמש ליורם בן אחאב מלך ישראל ויהושפט מלך יהודה מלך יהורם בן יהושפט מלך יהודה׃
17Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
17Il avait trente-deux ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna huit ans à Jérusalem.
17בן שלשים ושתים שנה היה במלכו ושמנה שנה מלך בירושלם׃
18And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife; and he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah.
18Il marcha dans la voie des rois d'Israël, comme avait fait la maison d'Achab, car il avait pour femme une fille d'Achab, et il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Eternel.
18וילך בדרך מלכי ישראל כאשר עשו בית אחאב כי בת אחאב היתה לו לאשה ויעש הרע בעיני יהוה׃
19Howbeit Jehovah would not destroy Judah, for David his servant's sake, as he promised him to give unto him a lamp for his children alway.
19Mais l'Eternel ne voulut point détruire Juda, à cause de David, son serviteur, selon la promesse qu'il lui avait faite de lui donner toujours une lampe parmi ses fils.
19ולא אבה יהוה להשחית את יהודה למען דוד עבדו כאשר אמר לו לתת לו ניר לבניו כל הימים׃
20In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.
20De son temps, Edom se révolta contre l'autorité de Juda, et se donna un roi.
20בימיו פשע אדום מתחת יד יהודה וימלכו עליהם מלך׃
21Then Joram passed over to Zair, and all his chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites that compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots; and the people fled to their tents.
21Joram passa à Tsaïr, avec tous ses chars; s'étant levé de nuit, il battit les Edomites, qui l'entouraient et les chefs des chars, et le peuple s'enfuit dans ses tentes.
21ויעבר יורם צעירה וכל הרכב עמו ויהי הוא קם לילה ויכה את אדום הסביב אליו ואת שרי הרכב וינס העם לאהליו׃
22So Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Then did Libnah revolt at the same time.
22La rébellion d'Edom contre l'autorité de Juda a duré jusqu'à ce jour. Libna se révolta aussi dans le même temps.
22ויפשע אדום מתחת יד יהודה עד היום הזה אז תפשע לבנה בעת ההיא׃
23And the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
23Le reste des actions de Joram, et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda?
23ויתר דברי יורם וכל אשר עשה הלוא הם כתובים על ספר דברי הימים למלכי יהודה׃
24And Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.
24Joram se coucha avec ses pères, et il fut enterré avec ses pères dans la ville de David. Et Achazia, son fils, régna à sa place.
24וישכב יורם עם אבתיו ויקבר עם אבתיו בעיר דוד וימלך אחזיהו בנו תחתיו׃
25In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel did Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah begin to reign.
25La douzième année de Joram, fils d'Achab, roi d'Israël, Achazia, fils de Joram, roi de Juda, régna.
25בשנת שתים עשרה שנה ליורם בן אחאב מלך ישראל מלך אחזיהו בן יהורם מלך יהודה׃
26Two and twenty years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri king of Israel.
26Achazia avait vingt-deux ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna un an à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Athalie, fille d'Omri, roi d'Israël.
26בן עשרים ושתים שנה אחזיהו במלכו ושנה אחת מלך בירושלם ושם אמו עתליהו בת עמרי מלך ישראל׃
27And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, as did the house of Ahab; for he was the son-in-law of the house of Ahab.
27Il marcha dans la voie de la maison d'Achab, et il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Eternel, comme la maison d'Achab, car il était allié par mariage à la maison d'Achab.
27וילך בדרך בית אחאב ויעש הרע בעיני יהוה כבית אחאב כי חתן בית אחאב הוא׃
28And he went with Joram the son of Ahab to war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth-gilead: and the Syrians wounded Joram.
28Il alla avec Joram, fils d'Achab, à la guerre contre Hazaël, roi de Syrie, à Ramoth en Galaad. Et les Syriens blessèrent Joram.
28וילך את יורם בן אחאב למלחמה עם חזהאל מלך ארם ברמת גלעד ויכו ארמים את יורם׃
29And king Joram returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.
29Le roi Joram s'en retourna pour se faire guérir à Jizreel des blessures que les Syriens lui avaient faites à Rama, lorsqu'il se battait contre Hazaël, roi de Syrie. Achazia, fils de Joram, roi de Juda, descendit pour voir Joram, fils d'Achab, à Jizreel, parce qu'il était malade.
29וישב יורם המלך להתרפא ביזרעאל מן המכים אשר יכהו ארמים ברמה בהלחמו את חזהאל מלך ארם ואחזיהו בן יהורם מלך יהודה ירד לראות את יורם בן אחאב ביזרעאל כי חלה הוא׃
