1Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.
1Toutes les tribus d'Israël vinrent auprès de David, à Hébron, et dirent: Voici, nous sommes tes os et ta chair.
1ויבאו כל שבטי ישראל אל דוד חברונה ויאמרו לאמר הננו עצמך ובשרך אנחנו׃
2In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was thou that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and Jehovah said to thee, Thou shalt be shepherd of my people Israel, and thou shalt be prince over Israel.
2Autrefois déjà, lorsque Saül était notre roi, c'était toi qui conduisais et qui ramenais Israël. L'Eternel t'a dit: Tu paîtras mon peuple d'Israël, et tu seras le chef d'Israël.
2גם אתמול גם שלשום בהיות שאול מלך עלינו אתה הייתה מוציא והמבי את ישראל ויאמר יהוה לך אתה תרעה את עמי את ישראל ואתה תהיה לנגיד על ישראל׃
3So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Jehovah: and they anointed David king over Israel.
3Ainsi tous les anciens d'Israël vinrent auprès du roi à Hébron, et le roi David fit alliance avec eux à Hébron, devant l'Eternel. Ils oignirent David pour roi sur Israël.
3ויבאו כל זקני ישראל אל המלך חברונה ויכרת להם המלך דוד ברית בחברון לפני יהוה וימשחו את דוד למלך על ישראל׃
4David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.
4David était âgé de trente ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna quarante ans.
4בן שלשים שנה דוד במלכו ארבעים שנה מלך׃
5In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months; and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.
5A Hébron il régna sur Juda sept ans et six mois, et à Jérusalem il régna trente-trois ans sur tout Israël et Juda.
5בחברון מלך על יהודה שבע שנים וששה חדשים ובירושלם מלך שלשים ושלש שנה על כל ישראל ויהודה׃
6And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither; thinking, David cannot come in hither.
6Le roi marcha avec ses gens sur Jérusalem contre les Jébusiens, habitants du pays. Ils dirent à David: Tu n'entreras point ici, car les aveugles mêmes et les boiteux te repousseront! Ce qui voulait dire: David n'entrera point ici.
6וילך המלך ואנשיו ירושלם אל היבסי יושב הארץ ויאמר לדוד לאמר לא תבוא הנה כי אם הסירך העורים והפסחים לאמר לא יבוא דוד הנה׃
7Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion; the same is the city of David.
7Mais David s'empara de la forteresse de Sion: c'est la cité de David.
7וילכד דוד את מצדת ציון היא עיר דוד׃
8And David said on that day, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites, let him get up to the watercourse, and [smite] the lame and the blind, that are hated of David's soul. Wherefore they say, There are the blind and the lame; he cannot come into the house.
8David avait dit en ce jour: Quiconque battra les Jébusiens et atteindra le canal, quiconque frappera ces boiteux et ces aveugles qui sont les ennemis de David... -C'est pourquoi l'on dit: L'aveugle et le boiteux n'entreront point dans la maison.
8ויאמר דוד ביום ההוא כל מכה יבסי ויגע בצנור ואת הפסחים ואת העורים שנאו נפש דוד על כן יאמרו עור ופסח לא יבוא אל הבית׃
9And David dwelt in the stronghold, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.
9David s'établit dans la forteresse, qu'il appela cité de David. Il fit de tous côtés des constructions, en dehors et en dedans de Millo.
9וישב דוד במצדה ויקרא לה עיר דוד ויבן דוד סביב מן המלוא וביתה׃
10And David waxed greater and greater; for Jehovah, the God of hosts, was with him.
10David devenait de plus en plus grand, et l'Eternel, le Dieu des armées, était avec lui.
10וילך דוד הלוך וגדול ויהוה אלהי צבאות עמו׃
11And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar-trees, and carpenters, and masons; and they built David a house.
11Hiram, roi de Tyr, envoya des messagers à David, et du bois de cèdre, et des charpentiers et des tailleurs de pierres, qui bâtirent une maison pour David.
11וישלח חירם מלך צר מלאכים אל דוד ועצי ארזים וחרשי עץ וחרשי אבן קיר ויבנו בית לדוד׃
12And David perceived that Jehovah had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel's sake.
12David reconnut que l'Eternel l'affermissait comme roi d'Israël, et qu'il élevait son royaume à cause de son peuple d'Israël.
12וידע דוד כי הכינו יהוה למלך על ישראל וכי נשא ממלכתו בעבור עמו ישראל׃
13And David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron; and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.
13David prit encore des concubines et des femmes de Jérusalem, après qu'il fut venu d'Hébron, et il lui naquit encore des fils et des filles.
13ויקח דוד עוד פלגשים ונשים מירושלם אחרי באו מחברון ויולדו עוד לדוד בנים ובנות׃
14And these are the names of those that were born unto him in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,
14Voici les noms de ceux qui lui naquirent à Jérusalem: Schammua, Schobab, Nathan, Salomon,
14ואלה שמות הילדים לו בירושלם שמוע ושובב ונתן ושלמה׃
15and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

15ויבחר ואלישוע ונפג ויפיע׃
16and Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphelet.
16Elischama, Eliada et Eliphéleth.
16ואלישמע ואלידע ואליפלט׃
17And when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the stronghold.
17Les Philistins apprirent qu'on avait oint David pour roi sur Israël, et ils montèrent tous à sa recherche. David, qui en fut informé, descendit à la forteresse.
17וישמעו פלשתים כי משחו את דוד למלך על ישראל ויעלו כל פלשתים לבקש את דוד וישמע דוד וירד אל המצודה׃
18Now the Philistines had come and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
18Les Philistins arrivèrent, et se répandirent dans la vallée des Rephaïm.
18ופלשתים באו וינטשו בעמק רפאים׃
19And David inquired of Jehovah, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And Jehovah said unto David, Go up; for I will certainly deliver the Philistines into thy hand.
19David consulta l'Eternel, en disant: Monterai-je contre les Philistins? Les livreras-tu entre mes mains? Et l'Eternel dit à David: Monte, car je livrerai les Philistins entre tes mains.
19וישאל דוד ביהוה לאמר האעלה אל פלשתים התתנם בידי ויאמר יהוה אל דוד עלה כי נתן אתן את הפלשתים בידך׃
20And David came to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there; and he said, Jehovah hath broken mine enemies before me, like the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baal-perazim.
20David vint à Baal-Peratsim, où il les battit. Puis il dit: L'Eternel a dispersé mes ennemis devant moi, comme des eaux qui s'écoulent. C'est pourquoi l'on a donné à ce lieu le nom de Baal-Peratsim.
20ויבא דוד בבעל פרצים ויכם שם דוד ויאמר פרץ יהוה את איבי לפני כפרץ מים על כן קרא שם המקום ההוא בעל פרצים׃
21And they left their images there; and David and his men took them away.
21Ils laissèrent là leurs idoles, et David et ses gens les emportèrent.
21ויעזבו שם את עצביהם וישאם דוד ואנשיו׃
22And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
22Les Philistins montèrent de nouveau, et se répandirent dans la vallée des Rephaïm.
22ויספו עוד פלשתים לעלות וינטשו בעמק רפאים׃
23And when David inquired of Jehovah, he said, Thou shalt not go up: make a circuit behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry-trees.
23David consulta l'Eternel. Et l'Eternel dit: Tu ne monteras pas; tourne-les par derrière, et tu arriveras sur eux vis-à-vis des mûriers.
23וישאל דוד ביהוה ויאמר לא תעלה הסב אל אחריהם ובאת להם ממול בכאים׃
24And it shall be, when thou hearest the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry-trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself; for then is Jehovah gone out before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.
24Quand tu entendras un bruit de pas dans les cimes des mûriers, alors hâte-toi, car c'est l'Eternel qui marche devant toi pour battre l'armée des Philistins.
24ויהי בשמעך את קול צעדה בראשי הבכאים אז תחרץ כי אז יצא יהוה לפניך להכות במחנה פלשתים׃
25And David did so, as Jehovah commanded him, and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gezer.
25David fit ce que l'Eternel lui avait ordonné, et il battit les Philistins depuis Guéba jusqu'à Guézer.
25ויעש דוד כן כאשר צוהו יהוה ויך את פלשתים מגבע עד באך גזר׃
