¹Now the apostles and the brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God.

¹Les apôtres et les frères qui étaient dans la Judée apprirent que les païens avaient aussi reçu la parole de Dieu.

¹וישמעו השליחים והאחים אשר ביהודה כי קבלו גם הגוים את דבר האלהים׃

²And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him,

²Et lorsque Pierre fut monté à Jérusalem, les fidèles circoncis lui adressèrent des reproches,

²ויהי כאשר עלה פטרוס ירושלים ויריבו עמו בני המילה לאמר׃

³saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them.

³en disant: Tu es entré chez des incirconcis, et tu as mangé avec eux.

³אל אנשים אשר להם ערלה באת ותאכל אתם לחם׃

⁴But Peter began, and expounded [the matter] unto them in order, saying,

⁴Pierre se mit à leur exposer d'une manière suivie ce qui s'était passé. Il dit:

⁴ויחל פטרוס ויספר להם את כל אשר קרהו לאמר׃

⁵I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, a certain vessel descending, as it were a great sheet let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even unto me:

⁵J'étais dans la ville de Joppé, et, pendant que je priais, je tombai en extase et j'eus une vision: un objet, semblable à une grande nappe attachée par les quatre coins, descendait du ciel et vint jusqu'à moi.

⁵מתפלל הייתי בעיר יפו וארדם וארא מראה והנה כלי כדמות מטפחת בד גדולה יורד מן השמים ותורד בארבע כנפותיה ותבא עדי׃

⁶upon which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw the fourfooted beasts of the earth and wild beasts and creeping things and birds of the heaven.

⁶Les regards fixés sur cette nappe, j'examinai, et je vis les quadrupèdes de la terre, les bêtes sauvages, les reptiles, et les oiseaux du ciel.

⁶והסתכלתי בה ואבין וארא את בהמת הארץ ואת החיה ורמש האדמה ועוף השמים׃

⁷And I heard also a voice saying unto me, Rise, Peter; kill and eat.

⁷Et j'entendis une voix qui me disait: Lève-toi, Pierre, tue et mange.

⁷ואשמע גם קול האמר אלי קום פטרוס זבח ואכל׃

⁸But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath ever entered into my mouth.

⁸Mais je dis: Non, Seigneur, car jamais rien de souillé ni d'impur n'est entré dans ma bouche.

⁸ואמר חלילה לי אדני כי כל פגול וטמא לא בא בפי מעולם׃

⁹But a voice answered the second time out of heaven, What God hath cleansed, make not thou common.

⁹Et pour la seconde fois la voix se fit entendre du ciel: Ce que Dieu a déclaré pur, ne le regarde pas comme souillé.

⁹ויענני הקול שנית מן השמים ויאמר את אשר טהר האלהים אתה אל תטמאנו׃

¹⁰And this was done thrice: and all were drawn up again into heaven.

¹⁰Cela arriva jusqu'à trois fois; puis tout fut retiré dans le ciel.

¹⁰וכן היה שלש פעמים והכל שב והעלה השמימה׃

¹¹And behold, forthwith three men stood before the house in which we were, having been sent from Caesarea unto me.

¹¹Et voici, aussitôt trois hommes envoyés de Césarée vers moi se présentèrent devant la porte de la maison où j'étais.

¹¹והנה כרגע שלשה אנשים עמדים על פתח הבית אשר אנכי שם והמה שלוחים אלי מקסרין׃

¹²And the Spirit bade me go with them, making no distinction. And these six brethren also accompanied me; and we entered into the man's house:

¹²L'Esprit me dit de partir avec eux sans hésiter. Les six hommes que voici m'accompagnèrent, et nous entrâmes dans la maison de Corneille.

¹²ויאמר אלי הרוח ללכת אתם ולבלתי התמהמה וילכו אתי גם ששת האחים האלה ונבוא אל בית האיש׃

¹³and he told us how he had seen the angel standing in his house, and saying, Send to Joppa, and fetch Simon, whose surname is Peter;

¹³Cet homme nous raconta comment il avait vu dans sa maison l'ange se présentant à lui et disant: Envoie à Joppé, et fais venir Simon, surnommé Pierre,

¹³ויגד לנו את אשר ראה המלאך נצב בביתו ואמר אליו שלח אל יפו אנשים וקרא אליך את שמעון המכנה פטרוס׃

¹⁴who shall speak unto thee words, whereby thou shalt be saved, thou and all thy house.

¹⁴qui te dira des choses par lesquelles tu seras sauvé, toi et toute ta maison.

¹⁴והוא ידבר אליך דברים אשר תושע בהם אתה וכל ביתך׃

¹⁵And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them, even as on us at the beginning.

¹⁵Lorsque je me fus mis à parler, le Saint-Esprit descendit sur eux, comme sur nous au commencement.

¹⁵וכאשר החלותי לדבר צלחה עליהם רוח הקדש כאשר צלחה עלינו בתחלה׃

¹⁶And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit.

¹⁶Et je me souvins de cette parole du Seigneur: Jean a baptisé d'eau, mais vous, vous serez baptisés du Saint-Esprit.

¹⁶ואזכר את דבר האדון אשר אמר יוחנן הטביל במים ואתם תטבלו ברוח הקדש׃

¹⁷If then God gave unto them the like gift as [he did] also unto us, when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I, that I could withstand God?

¹⁷Or, puisque Dieu leur a accordé le même don qu'à nous qui avons cru au Seigneur Jésus-Christ, pouvais-je, moi, m'opposer à Dieu?

¹⁷ועתה אם מתנה אחת נתן האלהים להם ולנו המאמינים באדון ישוע המשיח מי אנכי כי אעצר לאלהים׃

¹⁸And when they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then to the Gentiles also hath God granted repentance unto life.

¹⁸Après avoir entendu cela, ils se calmèrent, et ils glorifièrent Dieu, en disant: Dieu a donc accordé la repentance aussi aux païens, afin qu'ils aient la vie.

¹⁸ויהי כשמעם זאת ויחרישו ויהללו את האלהים ויאמרו אכן גם לגוים נתן האלהים התשובה לחיים׃

¹⁹They therefore that were scattered abroad upon the tribulation that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phoenicia, and Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the word to none save only to Jews.

¹⁹Ceux qui avaient été dispersés par la persécution survenue à l'occasion d'Etienne allèrent jusqu'en Phénicie, dans l'île de Chypre, et à Antioche, annonçant la parole seulement aux Juifs.

¹⁹והנפוצים מפני הצרה אשר היתה על אודת אסטפנוס הלכו ובאו עד פינוקיא וקפרוס ואנטיוכיא ולא דברו את הדבר כי אם אל היהודים לבדם׃

²⁰But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Greeks also, preaching the Lord Jesus.

²⁰Il y eut cependant parmi eux quelques hommes de Chypre et de Cyrène, qui, étant venus à Antioche, s'adressèrent aussi aux Grecs, et leur annoncèrent la bonne nouvelle du Seigneur Jésus.

²⁰ויהי בתוכם אנשי קפרוס וקוריני אשר באו אל אנטיוכיא וידברו גם אל היונים ויבשרו אתם את האדון ישוע׃

²¹And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number that believed turned unto the Lord.

²¹La main du Seigneur était avec eux, et un grand nombre de personnes crurent et se convertirent au Seigneur.

²¹ותהי עמהם יד יהוה ומספר רב האמינו וישובו אל האדון׃

²²And the report concerning them came to the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas as far as Antioch:

²²Le bruit en parvint aux oreilles des membres de l'Eglise de Jérusalem, et ils envoyèrent Barnabas jusqu'à Antioche.

²²וישמע הדבר באזני הקהלה אשר בירושלים וישלחו את בר נבא אל אנטיוכיא׃

²³who, when he was come, and had seen the grace of God, was glad; and he exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord:

²³Lorsqu'il fut arrivé, et qu'il eut vu la grâce de Dieu, il s'en réjouit, et il les exhorta tous à rester d'un coeur ferme attachés au Seigneur.

²³ויבא שמה וישמח כראתו את חסד האלהים ויזהר את כלם לדבקה באדון בלב נכון׃

²⁴for he was a good man, and full of the Holy Spirit and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.

²⁴Car c'était un homme de bien, plein d'Esprit-Saint et de foi. Et une foule assez nombreuse se joignit au Seigneur.

²⁴כי איש טוב היה ומלא רוח הקדש ואמונה ויאספו לאדון עם רב׃

²⁵And he went forth to Tarsus to seek for Saul;

²⁵Barnabas se rendit ensuite à Tarse, pour chercher Saul;

²⁵וילך בר נבא משם אל טרסוס לבקש את שאול וימצא אתו ויביאהו אל אנטיוכיא׃

²⁶and when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that even for a whole year they were gathered together with the church, and taught much people, and that the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

²⁶et, l'ayant trouvé, il l'amena à Antioche. Pendant toute une année, ils se réunirent aux assemblées de l'Eglise, et ils enseignèrent beaucoup de personnes. Ce fut à Antioche que, pour la première fois, les disciples furent appelés chrétiens.

²⁶ויהיו ישבים יחד בקהלה שנה תמימה ומלמדים עם רב אז הוחל באנטיוכיא לקרא את התלמידים בשם משיחיים׃

²⁷Now in these days there came down prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.

²⁷En ce temps-là, des prophètes descendirent de Jérusalem à Antioche.

²⁷ויהי בימים ההם ויבאו נביאים מירושלים אל אנטיוכיא׃

²⁸And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be a great famine over all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius.

²⁸L'un d'eux, nommé Agabus, se leva, et annonça par l'Esprit qu'il y aurait une grande famine sur toute la terre. Elle arriva, en effet, sous Claude.

²⁸ויקם אחד מהם ושמו אגבוס ויגד על פי הרוח כי רעב גדול יבוא על כל ישבי תבל ויהי כן בימי קלודיוס׃

²⁹And the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren that dwelt in Judea:

²⁹Les disciples résolurent d'envoyer, chacun selon ses moyens, un secours aux frères qui habitaient la Judée.

²⁹ויועצו התלמידים לשלח איש איש מאשר תשיג ידו לעזרת האחים הישבים ביהודה׃

³⁰which also they did, sending it to the elders by the hand of Barnabas and Saul.

³⁰Ils le firent parvenir aux anciens par les mains de Barnabas et de Saul.

³⁰וכן גם עשו וישלחו אל הזקנים על ידי בר נבא ושאול׃
