¹Hear this word that Jehovah hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up out of the land of Egypt, saying,

¹Ecoutez cette parole que l'Eternel prononce contre vous, enfants d'Israël, Contre toute la famille que j'ai fait monter du pays d'Egypte!

¹שמעו את הדבר הזה אשר דבר יהוה עליכם בני ישראל על כל המשפחה אשר העליתי מארץ מצרים לאמר׃

²You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will visit upon you all your iniquities.

²Je vous ai choisis, vous seuls parmi toutes les familles de la terre; C'est pourquoi je vous châtierai pour toutes vos iniquités.

²רק אתכם ידעתי מכל משפחות האדמה על כן אפקד עליכם את כל עונתיכם׃

³Shall two walk together, except they have agreed?

³Deux hommes marchent-ils ensemble, Sans en être convenus?

³הילכו שנים יחדו בלתי אם נועדו׃

⁴Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing?

⁴Le lion rugit-il dans la forêt, Sans avoir une proie? Le lionceau pousse-t-il des cris du fond de sa tanière, Sans avoir fait une capture?

⁴הישאג אריה ביער וטרף אין לו היתן כפיר קולו ממענתו בלתי אם לכד׃

⁵Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is [set] for him? shall a snare spring up from the ground, and have taken nothing at all?

⁵L'oiseau tombe-t-il dans le filet qui est à terre, Sans qu'il y ait un piège? Le filet s'élève-t-il de terre, Sans qu'il y ait rien de pris?

⁵התפל צפור על פח הארץ ומוקש אין לה היעלה פח מן האדמה ולכוד לא ילכוד׃

⁶Shall the trumpet be blown in a city, and the people not be afraid? shall evil befall a city, and Jehovah hath not done it?

⁶Sonne-t-on de la trompette dans une ville, Sans que le peuple soit dans l'épouvante? Arrive-t-il un malheur dans une ville, Sans que l'Eternel en soit l'auteur?

⁶אם יתקע שופר בעיר ועם לא יחרדו אם תהיה רעה בעיר ויהוה לא עשה׃

⁷Surely the Lord Jehovah will do nothing, except he reveal his secret unto his servants the prophets.

⁷Car le Seigneur, l'Eternel, ne fait rien Sans avoir révélé son secret à ses serviteurs les prophètes.

⁷כי לא יעשה אדני יהוה דבר כי אם גלה סודו אל עבדיו הנביאים׃

⁸The lion hath roared; who will not fear? The Lord Jehovah hath spoken; who can but prophesy?

⁸Le lion rugit: qui ne serait effrayé? Le Seigneur, l'Eternel, parle: qui ne prophétiserait?

⁸אריה שאג מי לא יירא אדני יהוה דבר מי לא ינבא׃

⁹Publish ye in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold what great tumults are therein, and what oppressions in the midst thereof.

⁹Faites retentir votre voix dans les palais d'Asdod Et dans les palais du pays d'Egypte, Et dites: Rassemblez-vous sur les montagnes de Samarie, Et voyez quelle immense confusion au milieu d'elle, Quelles violences dans son sein!

⁹השמיעו על ארמנות באשדוד ועל ארמנות בארץ מצרים ואמרו האספו על הרי שמרון וראו מהומת רבות בתוכה ועשוקים בקרבה׃

¹⁰For they know not to do right, saith Jehovah, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.

¹⁰Ils ne savent pas agir avec droiture, dit l'Eternel, Ils entassent dans leurs palais les produits de la violence et de la rapine.

¹⁰ולא ידעו עשות נכחה נאם יהוה האוצרים חמס ושד בארמנותיהם׃

¹¹Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: An adversary [there shall be], even round about the land; and he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be plundered.

¹¹C'est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Eternel: L'ennemi investira le pays, Il détruira ta force, Et tes palais seront pillés.

¹¹לכן כה אמר אדני יהוה צר וסביב הארץ והורד ממך עזך ונבזו ארמנותיך׃

¹²Thus saith Jehovah: As the shepherd rescueth out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear, so shall the children of Israel be rescued that sit in Samaria in the corner of a couch, and on the silken cushions of a bed.

¹²Ainsi parle l'Eternel: Comme le berger arrache de la gueule du lion Deux jambes ou un bout d'oreille, Ainsi se sauveront les enfants d'Israël qui sont assis dans Samarie A l'angle d'un lit et sur des tapis de damas.

¹²כה אמר יהוה כאשר יציל הרעה מפי הארי שתי כרעים או בדל אזן כן ינצלו בני ישראל הישבים בשמרון בפאת מטה ובדמשק ערש׃

¹³Hear ye, and testify against the house of Jacob, saith the Lord Jehovah, the God of hosts.

¹³Ecoutez, et déclarez ceci à la maison de Jacob! Dit le Seigneur, l'Eternel, le Dieu des armées.

¹³שמעו והעידו בבית יעקב נאם אדני יהוה אלהי הצבאות׃

¹⁴For in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him, I will also visit the altars of Beth-el; and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.

¹⁴Le jour où je punirai Israël pour ses transgressions, Je frapperai sur les autels de Béthel; Les cornes de l'autel seront brisées, Et tomberont à terre.

¹⁴כי ביום פקדי פשעי ישראל עליו ופקדתי על מזבחות בית אל ונגדעו קרנות המזבח ונפלו לארץ׃

¹⁵And I will smite the winter-house with the summer-house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith Jehovah.

¹⁵Je renverserai les maisons d'hiver et les maisons d'été; Les palais d'ivoire périront, Les maisons des grands disparaîtront, dit l'Eternel.

¹⁵והכיתי בית החרף על בית הקיץ ואבדו בתי השן וספו בתים רבים נאם יהוה׃
