¹Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and to them that are secure in the mountain of Samaria, the notable men of the chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel come!

¹Malheur à ceux qui vivent tranquilles dans Sion, Et en sécurité sur la montagne de Samarie, A ces grands de la première des nations, Auprès desquels va la maison d'Israël!...

¹הוי השאננים בציון והבטחים בהר שמרון נקבי ראשית הגוים ובאו להם בית ישראל׃

²Pass ye unto Calneh, and see; and from thence go ye to Hamath the great; then go down to Gath of the Philistines: are they better than these kingdoms? or is their border greater than your border?

²Passez à Calné et voyez, Allez de là jusqu'à Hamath la grande, Et descendez à Gath chez les Philistins: Ces villes sont-elles plus prospères que vos deux royaumes, Et leur territoire est-il plus étendu que le vôtre?...

²עברו כלנה וראו ולכו משם חמת רבה ורדו גת פלשתים הטובים מן הממלכות האלה אם רב גבולם מגבלכם׃

³-ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;

³Vous croyez éloigné le jour du malheur, Et vous faites approcher le règne de la violence.

³המנדים ליום רע ותגישון שבת חמס׃

⁴that lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall;

⁴Ils reposent sur des lits d'ivoire, Ils sont mollement étendus sur leurs couches; Ils mangent les agneaux du troupeau, Les veaux mis à l'engrais.

⁴השכבים על מטות שן וסרחים על ערשותם ואכלים כרים מצאן ועגלים מתוך מרבק׃

⁵that sing idle songs to the sound of the viol; that invent for themselves instruments of music, like David;

⁵Ils extravaguent au son du luth, Ils se croient habiles comme David sur les instruments de musique.

⁵הפרטים על פי הנבל כדויד חשבו להם כלי שיר׃

⁶that drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief oils; but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.

⁶Ils boivent le vin dans de larges coupes, Ils s'oignent avec la meilleure huile, Et ils ne s'attristent pas sur la ruine de Joseph!

⁶השתים במזרקי יין וראשית שמנים ימשחו ולא נחלו על שבר יוסף׃

⁷Therefore shall they now go captive with the first that go captive; and the revelry of them that stretched themselves shall pass away.

⁷C'est pourquoi ils seront emmenés à la tête des captifs; Et les cris de joie de ces voluptueux cesseront.

⁷לכן עתה יגלו בראש גלים וסר מרזח סרוחים׃

⁸The Lord Jehovah hath sworn by himself, saith Jehovah, the God of hosts: I abhor the excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces; therefore will I deliver up the city with all that is therein.

⁸Le Seigneur, l'Eternel, l'a juré par lui-même; L'Eternel, le Dieu des armées, a dit: J'ai en horreur l'orgueil de Jacob, Et je hais ses palais; Je livrerai la ville et tout ce qu'elle renferme.

⁸נשבע אדני יהוה בנפשו נאם יהוה אלהי צבאות מתאב אנכי את גאון יעקב וארמנתיו שנאתי והסגרתי עיר ומלאה׃

⁹And it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die.

⁹Et s'il reste dix hommes dans une maison, ils mourront.

⁹והיה אם יותרו עשרה אנשים בבית אחד ומתו׃

¹⁰And when a man's uncle shall take him up, even he that burneth him, to bring out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him that is in the innermost parts of the house, Is there yet any with thee? and he shall say, No; then shall he say, Hold thy peace; for we may not make mention of the name of Jehovah.

¹⁰Lorsqu'un parent prendra un mort pour le brûler Et qu'il enlèvera de la maison les ossements, Il dira à celui qui est au fond de la maison: Y a-t-il encore quelqu'un avec toi? Et cet homme répondra: Personne... Et l'autre dira: Silence! Ce n'est pas le moment de prononcer le nom de l'Eternel.

¹⁰ונשאו דודו ומסרפו להוציא עצמים מן הבית ואמר לאשר בירכתי הבית העוד עמך ואמר אפס ואמר הס כי לא להזכיר בשם יהוה׃

¹¹For, behold, Jehovah commandeth, and the great house shall be smitten with breaches, and the little house with clefts.

¹¹Car voici, l'Eternel ordonne: Il fera tomber en ruines la grande maison, Et en débris la petite maison.

¹¹כי הנה יהוה מצוה והכה הבית הגדול רסיסים והבית הקטן בקעים׃

¹²Shall horses run upon the rock? will one plow [there] with oxen? that ye have turned justice into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into wormwood;

¹²Est-ce que les chevaux courent sur un rocher, Est-ce qu'on y laboure avec des boeufs, Pour que vous ayez changé la droiture en poison, Et le fruit de la justice en absinthe?

¹²הירצון בסלע סוסים אם יחרוש בבקרים כי הפכתם לראש משפט ופרי צדקה ללענה׃

¹³ye that rejoice in a thing of nought, that say, Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength?

¹³Vous vous réjouissez de ce qui n'est que néant, Vous dites: N'est-ce pas par notre force Que nous avons acquis de la puissance?

¹³השמחים ללא דבר האמרים הלוא בחזקנו לקחנו לנו קרנים׃

¹⁴For, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith Jehovah, the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entrance of Hamath unto the brook of the Arabah.

¹⁴C'est pourquoi voici, je ferai lever contre vous, maison d'Israël, Dit l'Eternel, le Dieu des armées, une nation Qui vous opprimera depuis l'entrée de Hamath Jusqu'au torrent du désert.

¹⁴כי הנני מקים עליכם בית ישראל נאם יהוה אלהי הצבאות גוי ולחצו אתכם מלבוא חמת עד נחל הערבה׃
