¹Thou shalt not see thy brother's ox or his sheep go astray, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt surely bring them again unto thy brother.

¹Si tu vois s'égarer le boeuf ou la brebis de ton frère, tu ne t'en détourneras point, tu les ramèneras à ton frère.

¹לא תראה את שור אחיך או את שיו נדחים והתעלמת מהם השב תשיבם לאחיך׃

²And if thy brother be not nigh unto thee, or if thou know him not, then thou shalt bring it home to thy house, and it shall be with thee until thy brother seek after it, and thou shalt restore it to him.

²Si ton frère n'habite pas près de toi, et que tu ne le connaisses pas, tu recueilleras l'animal dans ta maison et il restera chez toi jusqu'à ce que ton frère le réclame; et alors tu le lui rendras.

²ואם לא קרוב אחיך אליך ולא ידעתו ואספתו אל תוך ביתך והיה עמך עד דרש אחיך אתו והשבתו לו׃

³And so shalt thou do with his ass; and so shalt thou do with his garment; and so shalt thou do with every lost thing of thy brother's, which he hath lost, and thou hast found: thou mayest not hide thyself.

³Tu feras de même pour son âne, tu feras de même pour son vêtement, tu feras de même pour tout objet qu'il aurait perdu et que tu trouverais; tu ne devras point t'en détourner.

³וכן תעשה לחמרו וכן תעשה לשמלתו וכן תעשה לכל אבדת אחיך אשר תאבד ממנו ומצאתה לא תוכל להתעלם׃

⁴Thou shalt not see thy brother's ass or his ox fallen down by the way, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt surely help him to lift them up again.

⁴Si tu vois l'âne de ton frère ou son boeuf tombé dans le chemin, tu ne t'en détourneras point, tu l'aideras à le relever.

⁴לא תראה את חמור אחיך או שורו נפלים בדרך והתעלמת מהם הקם תקים עמו׃

⁵A woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment; for whosoever doeth these things is an abomination unto Jehovah thy God.

⁵Une femme ne portera point un habillement d'homme, et un homme ne mettra point des vêtements de femme; car quiconque fait ces choses est en abomination à l'Eternel, ton Dieu.

⁵לא יהיה כלי גבר על אשה ולא ילבש גבר שמלת אשה כי תועבת יהוה אלהיך כל עשה אלה׃

⁶If a bird's nest chance to be before thee in the way, in any tree or on the ground, with young ones or eggs, and the dam sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, thou shalt not take the dam with the young:

⁶Si tu rencontres dans ton chemin un nid d'oiseau, sur un arbre ou sur la terre, avec des petits ou des oeufs, et la mère couchée sur les petits ou sur les oeufs, tu ne prendras pas la mère et les petits,

⁶כי יקרא קן צפור לפניך בדרך בכל עץ או על הארץ אפרחים או ביצים והאם רבצת על האפרחים או על הביצים לא תקח האם על הבנים׃

⁷thou shalt surely let the dam go, but the young thou mayest take unto thyself; that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days.

⁷tu laisseras aller la mère et tu ne prendras que les petits, afin que tu sois heureux et que tu prolonges tes jours.

⁷שלח תשלח את האם ואת הבנים תקח לך למען ייטב לך והארכת ימים׃

⁸When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thy house, if any man fall from thence.

⁸Si tu bâtis une maison neuve, tu feras une balustrade autour de ton toit, afin de ne pas mettre du sang sur ta maison, dans le cas où il en tomberait quelqu'un.

⁸כי תבנה בית חדש ועשית מעקה לגגך ולא תשים דמים בביתך כי יפל הנפל ממנו׃

⁹Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with two kinds of seed, lest the whole fruit be forfeited, the seed which thou hast sown, and the increase of the vineyard.

⁹Tu ne sèmeras point dans ta vigne diverses semences, de peur que tu ne jouisses ni du produit de ce que tu auras semé ni du produit de la vigne.

⁹לא תזרע כרמך כלאים פן תקדש המלאה הזרע אשר תזרע ותבואת הכרם׃

¹⁰Thou shalt not plow with an ox and an ass together.

¹⁰Tu ne laboureras point avec un boeuf et un âne attelés ensemble.

¹⁰לא תחרש בשור ובחמר יחדו׃

¹¹Thou shalt not wear a mingled stuff, wool and linen together.

¹¹Tu ne porteras point un vêtement tissé de diverses espèces de fils, de laine et de lin réunis ensemble.

¹¹לא תלבש שעטנז צמר ופשתים יחדו׃

¹²Thou shalt make thee fringes upon the four borders of thy vesture, wherewith thou coverest thyself.

¹²Tu mettras des franges aux quatre coins du vêtement dont tu te couvriras.

¹²גדלים תעשה לך על ארבע כנפות כסותך אשר תכסה בה׃

¹³If any man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her,

¹³Si un homme, qui a pris une femme et est allé vers elle, éprouve ensuite de l'aversion pour sa personne,

¹³כי יקח איש אשה ובא אליה ושנאה׃

¹⁴and lay shameful things to her charge, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came nigh to her, I found not in her the tokens of virginity;

¹⁴s'il lui impute des choses criminelles et porte atteinte à sa réputation, en disant: J'ai pris cette femme, je me suis approché d'elle, et je ne l'ai pas trouvée vierge, -

¹⁴ושם לה עלילת דברים והוציא עליה שם רע ואמר את האשה הזאת לקחתי ואקרב אליה ולא מצאתי לה בתולים׃

¹⁵then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel's virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate;

¹⁵alors le père et la mère de la jeune femme prendront les signes de sa virginité et les produiront devant les anciens de la ville, à la porte.

¹⁵ולקח אבי הנער ואמה והוציאו את בתולי הנער אל זקני העיר השערה׃

¹⁶and the damsel's father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter unto this man to wife, and he hateth her;

¹⁶Le père de la jeune femme dira aux anciens: J'ai donné ma fille pour femme à cet homme, et il l'a prise en aversion;

¹⁶ואמר אבי הנער אל הזקנים את בתי נתתי לאיש הזה לאשה וישנאה׃

¹⁷and, lo, he hath laid shameful things [to her charge], saying, I found not in thy daughter the tokens of virginity; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter's virginity. And they shall spread the garment before the elders of the city.

¹⁷il lui impute des choses criminelles, en disant: Je n'ai pas trouvé ta fille vierge. Or voici les signes de virginité de ma fille. Et ils déploieront son vêtement devant les anciens de la ville.

¹⁷והנה הוא שם עלילת דברים לאמר לא מצאתי לבתך בתולים ואלה בתולי בתי ופרשו השמלה לפני זקני העיר׃

¹⁸And the elders of that city shall take the man and chastise him;

¹⁸Les anciens de la ville saisiront alors cet homme et le châtieront;

¹⁸ולקחו זקני העיר ההוא את האיש ויסרו אתו׃

¹⁹and they shall fine him a hundred [shekels] of silver, and give them unto the father of the damsel, because he hath brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.

¹⁹et, parce qu'il a porté atteinte à la réputation d'une vierge d'Israël, ils le condamneront à une amende de cent sicles d'argent, qu'ils donneront au père de la jeune femme. Elle restera sa femme, et il ne pourra pas la renvoyer, tant qu'il vivra.

¹⁹וענשו אתו מאה כסף ונתנו לאבי הנערה כי הוציא שם רע על בתולת ישראל ולו תהיה לאשה לא יוכל לשלחה כל ימיו׃

²⁰But if this thing be true, that the tokens of virginity were not found in the damsel;

²⁰Mais si le fait est vrai, si la jeune femme ne s'est point trouvée vierge,

²⁰ואם אמת היה הדבר הזה לא נמצאו בתולים לנער׃

²¹then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the harlot in her father's house: so shalt thou put away the evil from the midst of thee.

²¹on fera sortir la jeune femme à l'entrée de la maison de son père; elle sera lapidée par les gens de la ville, et elle mourra, parce qu'elle a commis une infamie en Israël, en se prostituant dans la maison de son père. Tu ôteras ainsi le mal du milieu de toi.

²¹והוציאו את הנער אל פתח בית אביה וסקלוה אנשי עירה באבנים ומתה כי עשתה נבלה בישראל לזנות בית אביה ובערת הרע מקרבך׃

²²If a man be found lying with a woman married to a husband, then they shall both of them die, the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away the evil from Israel.

²²Si l'on trouve un homme couché avec une femme mariée, ils mourront tous deux, l'homme qui a couché avec la femme, et la femme aussi. Tu ôteras ainsi le mal du milieu d'Israël.

²²כי ימצא איש שכב עם אשה בעלת בעל ומתו גם שניהם האיש השכב עם האשה והאשה ובערת הרע מישראל׃

²³If there be a damsel that is a virgin betrothed unto a husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her;

²³Si une jeune fille vierge est fiancée, et qu'un homme la rencontre dans la ville et couche avec elle,

²³כי יהיה נער בתולה מארשה לאיש ומצאה איש בעיר ושכב עמה׃

²⁴then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them to death with stones; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbor's wife: so thou shalt put away the evil from the midst of thee.

²⁴vous les amènerez tous deux à la porte de la ville, vous les lapiderez, et ils mourront, la jeune fille pour n'avoir pas crié dans la ville, et l'homme pour avoir déshonoré la femme de son prochain. Tu ôteras ainsi le mal du milieu de toi.

²⁴והוצאתם את שניהם אל שער העיר ההוא וסקלתם אתם באבנים ומתו את הנער על דבר אשר לא צעקה בעיר ואת האיש על דבר אשר ענה את אשת רעהו ובערת הרע מקרבך׃

²⁵But if the man find the damsel that is betrothed in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her; then the man only that lay with her shall die:

²⁵Mais si c'est dans les champs que cet homme rencontre la jeune femme fiancée, lui fait violence et couche avec elle, l'homme qui aura couché avec elle sera seul puni de mort.

²⁵ואם בשדה ימצא האיש את הנער המארשה והחזיק בה האיש ושכב עמה ומת האיש אשר שכב עמה לבדו׃

²⁶but unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbor, and slayeth him, even so is this matter;

²⁶Tu ne feras rien à la jeune fille; elle n'est pas coupable d'un crime digne de mort, car il en est de ce cas comme de celui où un homme se jette sur son prochain et lui ôte la vie.

²⁶ולנער לא תעשה דבר אין לנער חטא מות כי כאשר יקום איש על רעהו ורצחו נפש כן הדבר הזה׃

²⁷for he found her in the field, the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her.

²⁷La jeune fille fiancée, que cet homme a rencontrée dans les champs, a pu crier sans qu'il y ait eu personne pour la secourir.

²⁷כי בשדה מצאה צעקה הנער המארשה ואין מושיע לה׃

²⁸If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, that is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;

²⁸Si un homme rencontre une jeune fille vierge non fiancée, lui fait violence et couche avec elle, et qu'on vienne à les surprendre,

²⁸כי ימצא איש נער בתולה אשר לא ארשה ותפשה ושכב עמה ונמצאו׃

²⁹then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty [shekels] of silver, and she shall be his wife, because he hath humbled her; he may not put her away all his days.

²⁹l'homme qui aura couché avec elle donnera au père de la jeune fille cinquante sicles d'argent; et, parce qu'il l'a déshonorée, il la prendra pour femme, et il ne pourra pas la renvoyer, tant qu'il vivra.

²⁹ונתן האיש השכב עמה לאבי הנער חמשים כסף ולו תהיה לאשה תחת אשר ענה לא יוכל שלחה כל ימיו׃

³⁰A man shall not take his father's wife, and shall not uncover his father's skirt.

³⁰Nul ne prendra la femme de son père, et ne soulèvera la couverture de son père.

³⁰לא יקח איש את אשת אביו ולא יגלה כנף אביו׃
