¹Now this is the commandment, the statutes, and the ordinances, which Jehovah your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go over to possess it;

¹Voici les commandements, les lois et les ordonnances que l'Eternel, votre Dieu, a commandé de vous enseigner, afin que vous les mettiez en pratique dans le pays dont vous allez prendre possession;

¹וזאת המצוה החקים והמשפטים אשר צוה יהוה אלהיכם ללמד אתכם לעשות בארץ אשר אתם עברים שמה לרשתה׃

²that thou mightest fear Jehovah thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.

²afin que tu craignes l'Eternel, ton Dieu, en observant, tous les jours de ta vie, toi, ton fils, et le fils de ton fils, toutes ses lois et tous ses commandements que je te prescris, et afin que tes jours soient prolongés.

²למען תירא את יהוה אלהיך לשמר את כל חקתיו ומצותיו אשר אנכי מצוך אתה ובנך ובן בנך כל ימי חייך ולמען יארכן ימיך׃

³Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as Jehovah, the God of thy fathers, hath promised unto thee, in a land flowing with milk and honey.

³Tu les écouteras donc, Israël, et tu auras soin de les mettre en pratique, afin que tu sois heureux et que vous multipliiez beaucoup, comme te l'a dit l'Eternel, le Dieu de tes pères, en te promettant un pays où coulent le lait et le miel.

³ושמעת ישראל ושמרת לעשות אשר ייטב לך ואשר תרבון מאד כאשר דבר יהוה אלהי אבתיך לך ארץ זבת חלב ודבש׃

⁴Hear, O Israel: Jehovah our God is one Jehovah:

⁴Ecoute, Israël! l'Eternel, notre Dieu, est le seul Eternel.

⁴שמע ישראל יהוה אלהינו יהוה אחד׃

⁵and thou shalt love Jehovah thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

⁵Tu aimeras l'Eternel, ton Dieu, de tout ton coeur, de toute ton âme et de toute ta force.

⁵ואהבת את יהוה אלהיך בכל לבבך ובכל נפשך ובכל מאדך׃

⁶And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be upon thy heart;

⁶Et ces commandements, que je te donne aujourd'hui, seront dans ton coeur.

⁶והיו הדברים האלה אשר אנכי מצוך היום על לבבך׃

⁷and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

⁷Tu les inculqueras à tes enfants, et tu en parleras quand tu seras dans ta maison, quand tu iras en voyage, quand tu te coucheras et quand tu te lèveras.

⁷ושננתם לבניך ודברת בם בשבתך בביתך ובלכתך בדרך ובשכבך ובקומך׃

⁸And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thy hand, and they shall be for frontlets between thine eyes.

⁸Tu les lieras comme un signe sur tes mains, et ils seront comme des fronteaux entre tes yeux.

⁸וקשרתם לאות על ידך והיו לטטפת בין עיניך׃

⁹And thou shalt write them upon the door-posts of thy house, and upon thy gates.

⁹Tu les écriras sur les poteaux de ta maison et sur tes portes.

⁹וכתבתם על מזוזת ביתך ובשעריך׃

¹⁰And it shall be, when Jehovah thy God shall bring thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee, great and goodly cities, which thou buildest not,

¹⁰L'Eternel, ton Dieu, te fera entrer dans le pays qu'il a juré à tes pères, à Abraham, à Isaac et à Jacob, de te donner. Tu posséderas de grandes et bonnes villes que tu n'as point bâties,

¹⁰והיה כי יביאך יהוה אלהיך אל הארץ אשר נשבע לאבתיך לאברהם ליצחק וליעקב לתת לך ערים גדלת וטבת אשר לא בנית׃

¹¹and houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and cisterns hewn out, which thou hewedst not, vineyards and olive-trees, which thou plantedst not, and thou shalt eat and be full;

¹¹des maisons qui sont pleines de toutes sortes de biens et que tu n'as point remplies, des citernes creusées que tu n'as point creusées, des vignes et des oliviers que tu n'as point plantés. Lorsque tu mangeras et te rassasieras,

¹¹ובתים מלאים כל טוב אשר לא מלאת וברת חצובים אשר לא חצבת כרמים וזיתים אשר לא נטעת ואכלת ושבעת׃

¹²then beware lest thou forget Jehovah, who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

¹²garde-toi d'oublier l'Eternel, qui t'a fait sortir du pays d'Egypte, de la maison de servitude.

¹²השמר לך פן תשכח את יהוה אשר הוציאך מארץ מצרים מבית עבדים׃

¹³Thou shalt fear Jehovah thy God; and him shalt thou serve, and shalt swear by his name.

¹³Tu craindras l'Eternel, ton Dieu, tu le serviras, et tu jureras par son nom.

¹³את יהוה אלהיך תירא ואתו תעבד ובשמו תשבע׃

¹⁴Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the peoples that are round about you;

¹⁴Vous n'irez point après d'autres dieux, d'entre les dieux des peuples qui sont autour de vous;

¹⁴לא תלכון אחרי אלהים אחרים מאלהי העמים אשר סביבותיכם׃

¹⁵for Jehovah thy God in the midst of thee is a jealous God; lest the anger of Jehovah thy God be kindled against thee, and he destroy thee from off the face of the earth.

¹⁵car l'Eternel, ton Dieu, est un Dieu jaloux au milieu de toi. La colère de l'Eternel, ton Dieu, s'enflammerait contre toi, et il t'exterminerait de dessus la terre.

¹⁵כי אל קנא יהוה אלהיך בקרבך פן יחרה אף יהוה אלהיך בך והשמידך מעל פני האדמה׃

¹⁶Ye shall not tempt Jehovah your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.

¹⁶Vous ne tenterez point l'Eternel, votre Dieu, comme vous l'avez tenté à Massa.

¹⁶לא תנסו את יהוה אלהיכם כאשר נסיתם במסה׃

¹⁷Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of Jehovah your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.

¹⁷Mais vous observerez les commandements de l'Eternel, votre Dieu, ses ordonnances et ses lois qu'il vous a prescrites.

¹⁷שמור תשמרון את מצות יהוה אלהיכם ועדתיו וחקיו אשר צוך׃

¹⁸And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of Jehovah; that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which Jehovah sware unto thy fathers,

¹⁸Tu feras ce qui est droit et ce qui est bien aux yeux de l'Eternel, afin que tu sois heureux, et que tu entres en possession du bon pays que l'Eternel a juré à tes pères de te donner,

¹⁸ועשית הישר והטוב בעיני יהוה למען ייטב לך ובאת וירשת את הארץ הטבה אשר נשבע יהוה לאבתיך׃

¹⁹to thrust out all thine enemies from before thee, as Jehovah hath spoken.

¹⁹après qu'il aura chassé tous tes ennemis devant toi, comme l'Eternel l'a dit.

¹⁹להדף את כל איביך מפניך כאשר דבר יהוה׃

²⁰When thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which Jehovah our God hath commanded you?

²⁰Lorsque ton fils te demandera un jour: Que signifient ces préceptes, ces lois et ces ordonnances, que l'Eternel, notre Dieu, vous a prescrits?

²⁰כי ישאלך בנך מחר לאמר מה העדת והחקים והמשפטים אשר צוה יהוה אלהינו אתכם׃

²¹then thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh's bondmen in Egypt: and Jehovah brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand;

²¹tu diras à ton fils: Nous étions esclaves de Pharaon en Egypte, et l'Eternel nous a fait sortir de l'Egypte par sa main puissante.

²¹ואמרת לבנך עבדים היינו לפרעה במצרים ויוציאנו יהוה ממצרים ביד חזקה׃

²²and Jehovah showed signs and wonders, great and sore, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his house, before our eyes;

²²L'Eternel a opéré, sous nos yeux, des miracles et des prodiges, grands et désastreux, contre l'Egypte, contre Pharaon et contre toute sa maison;

²²ויתן יהוה אותת ומפתים גדלים ורעים במצרים בפרעה ובכל ביתו לעינינו׃

²³and he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers.

²³et il nous a fait sortir de là, pour nous amener dans le pays qu'il avait juré à nos pères de nous donner.

²³ואותנו הוציא משם למען הביא אתנו לתת לנו את הארץ אשר נשבע לאבתינו׃

²⁴And Jehovah commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear Jehovah our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as at this day.

²⁴L'Eternel nous a commandé de mettre en pratique toutes ces lois, et de craindre l'Eternel, notre Dieu, afin que nous fussions toujours heureux, et qu'il nous conservât la vie, comme il le fait aujourd'hui.

²⁴ויצונו יהוה לעשות את כל החקים האלה ליראה את יהוה אלהינו לטוב לנו כל הימים לחיתנו כהיום הזה׃

²⁵And it shall be righteousness unto us, if we observe to do all this commandment before Jehovah our God, as he hath commanded us.

²⁵Nous aurons la justice en partage, si nous mettons soigneusement en pratique tous ces commandements devant l'Eternel, notre Dieu, comme il nous l'a ordonné.

²⁵וצדקה תהיה לנו כי נשמר לעשות את כל המצוה הזאת לפני יהוה אלהינו כאשר צונו׃
