¹All the commandment which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which Jehovah sware unto your fathers.

¹Vous observerez et vous mettrez en pratique tous les commandements que je vous prescris aujourd'hui, afin que vous viviez, que vous multipliiez, et que vous entriez en possession du pays que l'Eternel a juré de donner à vos pères.

¹כל המצוה אשר אנכי מצוך היום תשמרון לעשות למען תחיון ורביתם ובאתם וירשתם את הארץ אשר נשבע יהוה לאבתיכם׃

²And thou shalt remember all the way which Jehovah thy God hath led thee these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble thee, to prove thee, to know what was in thy heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or not.

²Souviens-toi de tout le chemin que l'Eternel, ton Dieu, t'a fait faire pendant ces quarante années dans le désert, afin de t'humilier et de t'éprouver, pour savoir quelles étaient les dispositions de ton coeur et si tu garderais ou non ses commandements.

²וזכרת את כל הדרך אשר הליכך יהוה אלהיך זה ארבעים שנה במדבר למען ענתך לנסתך לדעת את אשר בלבבך התשמר מצותו אם לא׃

³And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by everything that proceedeth out of the mouth of Jehovah doth man live.

³Il t'a humilié, il t'a fait souffrir de la faim, et il t'a nourri de la manne, que tu ne connaissais pas et que n'avaient pas connue tes pères, afin de t'apprendre que l'homme ne vit pas de pain seulement, mais que l'homme vit de tout ce qui sort de la bouche de l'Eternel.

³ויענך וירעבך ויאכלך את המן אשר לא ידעת ולא ידעון אבתיך למען הודעך כי לא על הלחם לבדו יחיה האדם כי על כל מוצא פי יהוה יחיה האדם׃

⁴Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.

⁴Ton vêtement ne s'est point usé sur toi, et ton pied ne s'est point enflé, pendant ces quarante années.

⁴שמלתך לא בלתה מעליך ורגלך לא בצקה זה ארבעים שנה׃

⁵And thou shalt consider in thy heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so Jehovah thy God chasteneth thee.

⁵Reconnais en ton coeur que l'Eternel, ton Dieu, te châtie comme un homme châtie son enfant.

⁵וידעת עם לבבך כי כאשר ייסר איש את בנו יהוה אלהיך מיסרך׃

⁶And thou shalt keep the commandments of Jehovah thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.

⁶Tu observeras les commandements de l'Eternel, ton Dieu, pour marcher dans ses voies et pour le craindre.

⁶ושמרת את מצות יהוה אלהיך ללכת בדרכיו וליראה אתו׃

⁷For Jehovah thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, flowing forth in valleys and hills;

⁷Car l'Eternel, ton Dieu, va te faire entrer dans un bon pays, pays de cours d'eaux, de sources et de lacs, qui jaillissent dans les vallées et dans les montagnes;

⁷כי יהוה אלהיך מביאך אל ארץ טובה ארץ נחלי מים עינת ותהמת יצאים בבקעה ובהר׃

⁸a land of wheat and barley, and vines and fig-trees and pomegranates; a land of olive-trees and honey;

⁸pays de froment, d'orge, de vignes, de figuiers et de grenadiers; pays d'oliviers et de miel;

⁸ארץ חטה ושערה וגפן ותאנה ורמון ארץ זית שמן ודבש׃

⁹a land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack anything in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig copper.

⁹pays où tu mangeras du pain avec abondance, où tu ne manqueras de rien; pays dont les pierres sont du fer, et des montagnes duquel tu tailleras l'airain.

⁹ארץ אשר לא במסכנת תאכל בה לחם לא תחסר כל בה ארץ אשר אבניה ברזל ומהרריה תחצב נחשת׃

¹⁰And thou shalt eat and be full, and thou shalt bless Jehovah thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.

¹⁰Lorsque tu mangeras et te rassasieras, tu béniras l'Eternel, ton Dieu, pour le bon pays qu'il t'a donné.

¹⁰ואכלת ושבעת וברכת את יהוה אלהיך על הארץ הטבה אשר נתן לך׃

¹¹Beware lest thou forget Jehovah thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his ordinances, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:

¹¹Garde-toi d'oublier l'Eternel, ton Dieu, au point de ne pas observer ses commandements, ses ordonnances et ses lois, que je te prescris aujourd'hui.

¹¹השמר לך פן תשכח את יהוה אלהיך לבלתי שמר מצותיו ומשפטיו וחקתיו אשר אנכי מצוך היום׃

¹²lest, when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;

¹²Lorsque tu mangeras et te rassasieras, lorsque tu bâtiras et habiteras de belles maisons,

¹²פן תאכל ושבעת ובתים טובים תבנה וישבת׃

¹³and when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;

¹³lorsque tu verras multiplier ton gros et ton menu bétail, s'augmenter ton argent et ton or, et s'accroître tout ce qui est à toi,

¹³ובקרך וצאנך ירבין וכסף וזהב ירבה לך וכל אשר לך ירבה׃

¹⁴then thy heart be lifted up, and thou forget Jehovah thy God, who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage;

¹⁴prends garde que ton coeur ne s'enfle, et que tu n'oublies l'Eternel, ton Dieu, qui t'a fait sortir du pays d'Egypte, de la maison de servitude,

¹⁴ורם לבבך ושכחת את יהוה אלהיך המוציאך מארץ מצרים מבית עבדים׃

¹⁵who led thee through the great and terrible wilderness, [wherein were] fiery serpents and scorpions, and thirsty ground where was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;

¹⁵qui t'a fait marcher dans ce grand et affreux désert, où il y a des serpents brûlants et des scorpions, dans des lieux arides et sans eau, et qui a fait jaillir pour toi de l'eau du rocher le plus dur,

¹⁵המוליכך במדבר הגדל והנורא נחש שרף ועקרב וצמאון אשר אין מים המוציא לך מים מצור החלמיש׃

¹⁶who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not; that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end:

¹⁶qui t'a fait manger dans le désert la manne inconnue à tes pères, afin de t'humilier et de t'éprouver, pour te faire ensuite du bien.

¹⁶המאכלך מן במדבר אשר לא ידעון אבתיך למען ענתך ולמען נסתך להיטבך באחריתך׃

¹⁷and [lest] thou say in thy heart, My power and the might of my hand hath gotten me this wealth.

¹⁷Garde-toi de dire en ton coeur: Ma force et la puissance de ma main m'ont acquis ces richesses.

¹⁷ואמרת בלבבך כחי ועצם ידי עשה לי את החיל הזה׃

¹⁸But thou shalt remember Jehovah thy God, for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth; that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as at this day.

¹⁸Souviens-toi de l'Eternel, ton Dieu, car c'est lui qui te donnera de la force pour les acquérir, afin de confirmer, comme il le fait aujourd'hui, son alliance qu'il a jurée à tes pères.

¹⁸וזכרת את יהוה אלהיך כי הוא הנתן לך כח לעשות חיל למען הקים את בריתו אשר נשבע לאבתיך כיום הזה׃

¹⁹And it shall be, if thou shalt forget Jehovah thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.

¹⁹Si tu oublies l'Eternel, ton Dieu, et que tu ailles après d'autres dieux, si tu les sers et te prosternes devant eux, je vous déclare formellement aujourd'hui que vous périrez.

¹⁹והיה אם שכח תשכח את יהוה אלהיך והלכת אחרי אלהים אחרים ועבדתם והשתחוית להם העדתי בכם היום כי אבד תאבדון׃

²⁰As the nations that Jehovah maketh to perish before you, so shall ye perish; because ye would not hearken unto the voice of Jehovah your God.

²⁰Vous périrez comme les nations que l'Eternel fait périr devant vous, parce que vous n'aurez point écouté la voix de l'Eternel, votre Dieu.

²⁰כגוים אשר יהוה מאביד מפניכם כן תאבדון עקב לא תשמעון בקול יהוה אלהיכם׃
