¹For the law having a shadow of the good [things] to come, not the very image of the things, can never with the same sacrifices year by year, which they offer continually, make perfect them that draw nigh.

¹En effet, la loi, qui possède une ombre des biens à venir, et non l'exacte représentation des choses, ne peut jamais, par les mêmes sacrifices qu'on offre perpétuellement chaque année, amener les assistants à la perfection.

¹כי התורה בהיות בה צל הטבות העתידות ולא מראה עצם הדברים אין ביכלתה להשלים את הקרבים בקרבנות ההם אשר יקריבו תמיד מדי שנה בשנה׃

²Else would they not have ceased to be offered? because the worshippers, having been once cleansed, would have had no more consciousness of sins.

²Autrement, n'aurait-on pas cessé de les offrir, parce que ceux qui rendent ce culte, étant une fois purifiés, n'auraient plus eu aucune conscience de leurs péchés?

²כי לולא זאת חדלו מהביאם באשר המקריבים בהטהרם פעם אחת לא היתה בהם עוד רגשת חטאים׃

³But in those [sacrifices] there is a remembrance made of sins year by year.

³Mais le souvenir des péchés est renouvelé chaque année par ces sacrifices;

³אבל יש שם הזכרת החטאים שנה בשנה׃

⁴For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins.

⁴car il est impossible que le sang des taureaux et des boucs ôte les péchés.

⁴כי דם הפרים והשעירים לא יוכל להסיר חטאים׃

⁵Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, But a body didst thou prepare for me;

⁵C'est pourquoi Christ, entrant dans le monde, dit: Tu n'as voulu ni sacrifice ni offrande, Mais tu m'as formé un corps;

⁵ובעבור זאת אמר בבואו לעולם זבח ומנחה לא חפצת גוף כוננת לי׃

⁶In whole burnt offerings and [sacrifices] for sin thou hadst no pleasure:

⁶Tu n'as agréé ni holocaustes ni sacrifices pour le péché.

⁶עולה וחטאה לא שאלת׃

⁷Then said I, Lo, I am come (In the roll of the book it is written of me) To do thy will, O God.

⁷Alors j'ai dit: Voici, je viens Dans le rouleau du livre il est question de moi Pour faire, ô Dieu, ta volonté.

⁷אז אמרתי הנה באתי במגלת ספר כתוב עלי לעשות רצונך אלהי׃

⁸Saying above, Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and [sacrifices] for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein (the which are offered according to the law),

⁸Après avoir dit d'abord: Tu n'as voulu et tu n'as agréé ni sacrifices ni offrandes, Ni holocaustes ni sacrifices pour le péché ce qu'on offre selon la loi,

⁸אחרי אמרו למעלה זבח ומנחה עולה וחטאה לא חפצת ולא שאלת אשר יקריבו אתם על פי התורה׃

⁹then hath he said, Lo, I am come to do thy will. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.

⁹il dit ensuite: Voici, je viens Pour faire ta volonté. Il abolit ainsi la première chose pour établir la seconde.

⁹אז אמר הנה באתי לעשות רצונך אלהי מעביר בזה את הראשונה למען הקים את השניה׃

¹⁰By which will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

¹⁰C'est en vertu de cette volonté que nous sommes sanctifiés, par l'offrande du corps de Jésus-Christ, une fois pour toutes.

¹⁰וברצון הזה מקדשים אנחנו על ידי הקרבת קרבן גוף ישוע המשיח בפעם אחת׃

¹¹And every priest indeed standeth day by day ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, the which can never take away sins:

¹¹Et tandis que tout sacrificateur fait chaque jour le service et offre souvent les mêmes sacrifices, qui ne peuvent jamais ôter les péchés,

¹¹וכל כהן עמד יום יום לשרת ומוסיף פעמים רבות להקריב אתן הקרבנות אשר לא יוכלו לעולם להעביר חטאים׃

¹²but he, when he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

¹²lui, après avoir offert un seul sacrifice pour les péchés, s'est assis pour toujours à la droite de Dieu,

¹²אולם זה אחרי הקריבו זבח אחד על החטאים ישב עד עולם לימין האלהים׃

¹³henceforth expecting till his enemies be made the footstool of his feet.

¹³attendant désormais que ses ennemis soient devenus son marchepied.

¹³וחכה יחכה עד כי יושתו איביו הדם לרגליו׃

¹⁴For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

¹⁴Car, par une seule offrande, il a amené à la perfection pour toujours ceux qui sont sanctifiés.

¹⁴כי הוא בקרבן אחת השלים לנצח את המקדשים׃

¹⁵And the Holy Spirit also beareth witness to us; for after he hath said,

¹⁵C'est ce que le Saint-Esprit nous atteste aussi; car, après avoir dit:

¹⁵ואף רוח הקדש מעיד לנו על זאת כי אחרי אמרו׃

¹⁶This is the covenant that I will make with them After those days, saith the Lord: I will put my laws on their heart, And upon their mind also will I write them; [then saith he,]

¹⁶Voici l'alliance que je ferai avec eux, Après ces jours-là, dit le Seigneur: Je mettrai mes lois dans leurs coeurs, Et je les écrirai dans leur esprit, il ajoute:

¹⁶זאת הברית אשר אכרת אתם אחרי הימים ההם אמר יהוה נתתי את תורתי בקרבם ועל לבם אכתבנה׃

¹⁷And their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

¹⁷Et je ne me souviendrai plus de leurs péchés ni de leurs iniquités.

¹⁷ולעונם ולחטאתם לא אזכר עוד׃

¹⁸Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

¹⁸Or, là où il y a pardon des péchés, il n'y a plus d'offrande pour le péché.

¹⁸והנה באשר נסלחו החטאים אין עוד קרבן עליהם׃

¹⁹Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus,

¹⁹Ainsi donc, frères, puisque nous avons, au moyen du sang de Jésus, une libre entrée dans le sanctuaire

¹⁹ועתה אחי בהיות לנו בטחון דרך הקדש בדם ישוע׃

²⁰by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

²⁰par la route nouvelle et vivante qu'il a inaugurée pour nous au travers du voile, c'est-à-dire, de sa chair,

²⁰דרך חדש וחי אשר חדש לנו בפרכת היא בשרו׃

²¹and [having] a great priest over the house of God;

²¹et puisque nous avons un souverain sacrificateur établi sur la maison de Dieu,

²¹ובהיות לנו כהן גדול על בית אלהים׃

²²let us draw near with a true heart in fulness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience: and having our body washed with pure water,

²²approchons-nous avec un coeur sincère, dans la plénitude de la foi, les coeurs purifiés d'une mauvaise conscience, et le corps lavé d'une eau pure.

²²נקרבה נא בלבב שלם ובאמונה תמימה מטהרים בהזית לבבנו מרוח רעה ורחוצי בשר במים טהורים׃

²³let us hold fast the confession of our hope that it waver not; for he is faithful that promised:

²³Retenons fermement la profession de notre espérance, car celui qui a fait la promesse est fidèle.

²³נחזיקה בהודית התקוה בל נמוט כי נאמן המבטיח׃

²⁴and let us consider one another to provoke unto love and good works;

²⁴Veillons les uns sur les autres, pour nous exciter à la charité et aux bonnes oeuvres.

²⁴ונתבוננה זה על זה לעורר אתנו לאהבה ולמעשים טובים׃

²⁵not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting [one another]; and so much the more, as ye see the day drawing nigh.

²⁵N'abandonnons pas notre assemblée, comme c'est la coutume de quelques-uns; mais exhortons-nous réciproquement, et cela d'autant plus que vous voyez s'approcher le jour.

²⁵ואל נעזב את כנאיתנו כמנהג קצת אנשים כי אם נוכיח איש את אחיו וביותר בראתכם כי קרוב היום׃

²⁶For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more a sacrifice for sins,

²⁶Car, si nous péchons volontairement après avoir reçu la connaissance de la vérité, il ne reste plus de sacrifice pour les péchés,

²⁶כי אם נחטא בזדון אחרי אשר קבלנו דעת האמת לא ישאר עוד זבח קרבן לכפר על החטא׃

²⁷but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and a fierceness of fire which shall devour the adversaries.

²⁷mais une attente terrible du jugement et l'ardeur d'un feu qui dévorera les rebelles.

²⁷כי אם בעותי הדין העתיד ואש קנאה אשר תאכל את הצררים׃

²⁸A man that hath set at nought Moses law dieth without compassion on [the word of] two or three witnesses:

²⁸Celui qui a violé la loi de Moïse meurt sans miséricorde, sur la déposition de deux ou de trois témoins;

²⁸הן איש כי יפר תורת משה מות ימות בלי חמלה על פי שנים עדים או שלשה׃

²⁹of how much sorer punishment, think ye, shall he be judged worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant wherewith he was sanctified an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

²⁹de quel pire châtiment pensez-vous que sera jugé digne celui qui aura foulé aux pieds le Fils de Dieu, qui aura tenu pour profane le sang de l'alliance, par lequel il a été sanctifié, et qui aura outragé l'Esprit de la grâce?

²⁹מה תחשבו כמה יגדל הענש הראוי לרמס ברגלו את בן האלהים וחשב לחל את דם הברית אשר הוא מקדש בו ומחרף את רוח החסד׃

³⁰For we know him that said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.

³⁰Car nous connaissons celui qui a dit: A moi la vengeance, à moi la rétribution! et encore: Le Seigneur jugera son peuple.

³⁰כי ידענו את האמר לי נקם ושלם ועוד כי ידין יהוה עמו׃

³¹It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

³¹C'est une chose terrible que de tomber entre les mains du Dieu vivant.

³¹מה נורא לנפל ביד אלהים חיים׃

³²But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were enlightened, ye endured a great conflict of sufferings;

³²Souvenez-vous de ces premiers jours, où, après avoir été éclairés, vous avez soutenu un grand combat au milieu des souffrances,

³²אבל זכרו נא את הימים הראשונים כי אז אחרי ארו עיניכם נשאתם כבד ענוים רבים׃

³³partly, being made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, becoming partakers with them that were so used.

³³d'une part, exposés comme en spectacle aux opprobres et aux tribulations, et de l'autre, vous associant à ceux dont la position était la même.

³³פעם בהיותכם לראי בחרפה ותוגה פעם בהשתתף לאשר הגיע אליהם כזאת׃

³⁴For ye both had compassion on them that were in bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of you possessions, knowing that ye have for yourselves a better possession and an abiding one.

³⁴En effet, vous avez eu de la compassion pour les prisonniers, et vous avez accepté avec joie l'enlèvement de vos biens, sachant que vous avez des biens meilleurs et qui durent toujours.

³⁴כי הצטערתם על מוסרי וגזלת רכושכם סבלתם בשמחה מדעתכם בנפשכם שיש לכם בשמים קנין טוב ממנו וקים לעד׃

³⁵Cast not away therefore your boldness, which hath great recompense of reward.

³⁵N'abandonnez donc pas votre assurance, à laquelle est attachée une grande rémunération.

³⁵לכן אל תשליכו את בטחונכם כי יש לו שכר רב׃

³⁶For ye have need of patience, that, having done the will of God, ye may receive the promise.

³⁶Car vous avez besoin de persévérance, afin qu'après avoir accompli la volonté de Dieu, vous obteniez ce qui vous est promis.

³⁶כי צריכים אתם לסבלנות למען תעשו רצון אלהים ונשאתם את ההבטחה׃

³⁷For yet a very little while, He that cometh shall come, and shall not tarry.

³⁷Encore un peu, un peu de temps: celui qui doit venir viendra, et il ne tardera pas.

³⁷כי עוד מעט רגע והבא יבא לא יאחר׃

³⁸But my righteous one shall live by faith: And if he shrink back, my soul hath no pleasure in him.

³⁸Et mon juste vivra par la foi; mais, s'il se retire, mon âme ne prend pas plaisir en lui.

³⁸הצדיק באמונתו יחיה ואם יסג אחור לא רצתה נפשי בו׃

³⁹But we are not of them that shrink back unto perdition; but of them that have faith unto the saving of the soul.

³⁹Nous, nous ne sommes pas de ceux qui se retirent pour se perdre, mais de ceux qui ont la foi pour sauver leur âme.

³⁹אמנם אנחנו איננו מן הנסוגים אחור לאבדם כי אם מן המאמינים להצלת הנפש׃
