¹O Israel, return unto Jehovah thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.

¹Israël, reviens à l'Eternel, ton Dieu, Car tu es tombé par ton iniquité.

¹שובה ישראל עד יהוה אלהיך כי כשלת בעונך׃

²Take with you words, and return unto Jehovah: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and accept that which is good: so will we render [as] bullocks [the offering of] our lips.

²Apportez avec vous des paroles, Et revenez à l'Eternel. Dites-lui: Pardonne toutes les iniquités, Et reçois-nous favorablement! Nous t'offrirons, au lieu de taureaux, l'hommage de nos lèvres.

²קחו עמכם דברים ושובו אל יהוה אמרו אליו כל תשא עון וקח טוב ונשלמה פרים שפתינו׃

³Assyria shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses; neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, [Ye are] our gods; for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.

³L'Assyrien ne nous sauvera pas, nous ne monterons pas sur des chevaux, Et nous ne dirons plus à l'ouvrage de nos mains: Notre Dieu! Car c'est auprès de toi que l'orphelin trouve compassion.

³אשור לא יושיענו על סוס לא נרכב ולא נאמר עוד אלהינו למעשה ידינו אשר בך ירחם יתום׃

⁴I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely; for mine anger is turned away from him.

⁴Je réparerai leur infidélité, J'aurai pour eux un amour sincère; Car ma colère s'est détournée d'eux.

⁴ארפא משובתם אהבם נדבה כי שב אפי ממנו׃

⁵I will be as the dew unto Israel; he shall blossom as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon.

⁵Je serai comme la rosée pour Israël, Il fleurira comme le lis, Et il poussera des racines comme le Liban.

⁵אהיה כטל לישראל יפרח כשושנה ויך שרשיו כלבנון׃

⁶His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive-tree, and his smell as Lebanon.

⁶Ses rameaux s'étendront; Il aura la magnificence de l'olivier, Et les parfums du Liban.

⁶ילכו ינקותיו ויהי כזית הודו וריח לו כלבנון׃

⁷They that dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall revive [as] the grain, and blossom as the vine: the scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon.

⁷Ils reviendront s'asseoir à son ombre, Ils redonneront la vie au froment, Et ils fleuriront comme la vigne; Ils auront la renommée du vin du Liban.

⁷ישבו ישבי בצלו יחיו דגן ויפרחו כגפן זכרו כיין לבנון׃

⁸Ephraim [shall say], What have I to do any more with idols? I have answered, and will regard him: I am like a green fir-tree; from me is thy fruit found.

⁸Ephraïm, qu'ai-je à faire encore avec les idoles? Je l'exaucerai, je le regarderai, Je serai pour lui comme un cyprès verdoyant. C'est de moi que tu recevras ton fruit.

⁸אפרים מה לי עוד לעצבים אני עניתי ואשורנו אני כברוש רענן ממני פריך נמצא׃

⁹Who is wise, that he may understand these things? prudent, that he may know them? for the ways of Jehovah are right, and the just shall walk in them; but transgressors shall fall therein.

⁹Que celui qui est sage prenne garde à ces choses! Que celui qui est intelligent les comprenne! Car les voies de l'Eternel sont droites; Les justes y marcheront, Mais les rebelles y tomberont.

⁹מי חכם ויבן אלה נבון וידעם כי ישרים דרכי יהוה וצדקים ילכו בם ופשעים יכשלו בם׃
