¹Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye peoples: let the earth hear, and the fulness thereof; the world, and all things that come forth from it.

¹Approchez, nations, pour entendre! Peuples, soyez attentifs! Que la terre écoute, elle et ce qui la remplit, Le monde et tout ce qu'il produit!

¹קרבו גוים לשמע ולאמים הקשיבו תשמע הארץ ומלאה תבל וכל צאצאיה׃

²For Jehovah hath indignation against all the nations, and wrath against all their host: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.

²Car la colère de l'Eternel va fondre sur toutes les nations, Et sa fureur sur toute leur armée: Il les voue à l'extermination, Il les livre au carnage.

²כי קצף ליהוה על כל הגוים וחמה על כל צבאם החרימם נתנם לטבח׃

³Their slain also shall be cast out, and the stench of their dead bodies shall come up; and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.

³Leurs morts sont jetés, Leurs cadavres exhalent la puanteur, Et les montagnes se fondent dans leur sang.

³וחלליהם ישלכו ופגריהם יעלה באשם ונמסו הרים מדמם׃

⁴And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll; and all their host shall fade away, as the leaf fadeth from off the vine, and as a fading [leaf] from the fig-tree.

⁴Toute l'armée des cieux se dissout; Les cieux sont roulés comme un livre, Et toute leur armée tombe, Comme tombe la feuille de la vigne, Comme tombe celle du figuier.

⁴ונמקו כל צבא השמים ונגלו כספר השמים וכל צבאם יבול כנבל עלה מגפן וכנבלת מתאנה׃

⁵For my sword hath drunk its fill in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Edom, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.

⁵Mon épée s'est enivrée dans les cieux; Voici, elle va descendre sur Edom, Sur le peuple que j'ai voué à l'extermination, pour le châtier.

⁵כי רותה בשמים חרבי הנה על אדום תרד ועל עם חרמי למשפט׃

⁶The sword of Jehovah is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams; for Jehovah hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.

⁶L'épée de l'Eternel est pleine de sang, couverte de graisse, Du sang des agneaux et des boucs, De la graisse des reins des béliers; Car il y a des victimes de l'Eternel à Botsra, Et un grand carnage dans le pays d'Edom,

⁶חרב ליהוה מלאה דם הדשנה מחלב מדם כרים ועתודים מחלב כליות אילים כי זבח ליהוה בבצרה וטבח גדול בארץ אדום׃

⁷And the wild-oxen shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls: and their land shall be drunken with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.

⁷Les buffles tombent avec eux, Et les boeufs avec les taureaux; La terre s'abreuve de sang, Et le sol est imprégné de graisse.

⁷וירדו ראמים עמם ופרים עם אבירים ורותה ארצם מדם ועפרם מחלב ידשן׃

⁸For Jehovah hath a day of vengeance, a year of recompense for the cause of Zion.

⁸Car c'est un jour de vengeance pour l'Eternel, Une année de représailles pour la cause de Sion.

⁸כי יום נקם ליהוה שנת שלומים לריב ציון׃

⁹And the streams of [Edom] shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.

⁹Les torrents d'Edom seront changés en poix, Et sa poussière en soufre; Et sa terre sera comme de la poix qui brûle.

⁹ונהפכו נחליה לזפת ועפרה לגפרית והיתה ארצה לזפת בערה׃

¹⁰It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever; from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.

¹⁰Elle ne s'éteindra ni jour ni nuit, La fumée s'en élèvera éternellement; D'âge en âge elle sera désolée, A tout jamais personne n'y passera.

¹⁰לילה ויומם לא תכבה לעולם יעלה עשנה מדור לדור תחרב לנצח נצחים אין עבר בה׃

¹¹But the pelican and the porcupine shall possess it; and the owl and the raven shall dwell therein: and he will stretch over it the line of confusion, and the plummet of emptiness.

¹¹Le pélican et le hérisson la posséderont, La chouette et le corbeau l'habiteront. On y étendra le cordeau de la désolation, Et le niveau de la destruction.

¹¹וירשוה קאת וקפוד וינשוף וערב ישכנו בה ונטה עליה קו תהו ואבני בהו׃

¹²They shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, but none shall be there; and all its princes shall be nothing.

¹²Il n'y aura plus de grands pour proclamer un roi, Tous ses princes seront anéantis.

¹²חריה ואין שם מלוכה יקראו וכל שריה יהיו אפס׃

¹³And thorns shall come up in its palaces, nettles and thistles in the fortresses thereof; and it shall be a habitation of jackals, a court for ostriches.

¹³Les épines croîtront dans ses palais, Les ronces et les chardons dans ses forteresses. Ce sera la demeure des chacals, Le repaire des autruches;

¹³ועלתה ארמנתיה סירים קמוש וחוח במבצריה והיתה נוה תנים חציר לבנות יענה׃

¹⁴And the wild beasts of the desert shall meet with the wolves, and the wild goat shall cry to his fellow; yea, the night-monster shall settle there, and shall find her a place of rest.

¹⁴Les animaux du désert y rencontreront les chiens sauvages, Et les boucs s'y appelleront les uns les autres; Là le spectre de la nuit aura sa demeure, Et trouvera son lieu de repos;

¹⁴ופגשו ציים את איים ושעיר על רעהו יקרא אך שם הרגיעה לילית ומצאה לה מנוח׃

¹⁵There shall the dart-snake make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shade; yea, there shall the kites be gathered, every one with her mate.

¹⁵Là le serpent fera son nid, déposera ses oeufs, Les couvera, et recueillera ses petits à son ombre; Là se rassembleront tous les vautours.

¹⁵שמה קננה קפוז ותמלט ובקעה ודגרה בצלה אך שם נקבצו דיות אשה רעותה׃

¹⁶Seek ye out of the book of Jehovah, and read: no one of these shall be missing, none shall want her mate; for my mouth, it hath commanded, and his Spirit, it hath gathered them.

¹⁶Consultez le livre de l'Eternel, et lisez! Aucun d'eux ne fera défaut, Ni l'un ni l'autre ne manqueront; Car sa bouche l'a ordonné. C'est son esprit qui les rassemblera.

¹⁶דרשו מעל ספר יהוה וקראו אחת מהנה לא נעדרה אשה רעותה לא פקדו כי פי הוא צוה ורוחו הוא קבצן׃

¹⁷And he hath cast the lot for them, and his hand hath divided it unto them by line: they shall possess it for ever; from generation to generation shall they dwell therein.

¹⁷Il a jeté pour eux le sort, Et sa main leur a partagé cette terre au cordeau, Ils la posséderont toujours, Ils l'habiteront d'âge en âge.

¹⁷והוא הפיל להן גורל וידו חלקתה להם בקו עד עולם יירשוה לדור ודור ישכנו בה׃
