1In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith Jehovah, Set thy house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.
1En ce temps-là, Ezéchias fut malade à la mort. Le prophète Esaïe, fils d'Amots, vint auprès de lui, et lui dit: Ainsi parle l'Eternel: Donne tes ordres à ta maison, car tu vas mourir, et tu ne vivras plus.
1בימים ההם חלה חזקיהו למות ויבוא אליו ישעיהו בן אמוץ הנביא ויאמר אליו כה אמר יהוה צו לביתך כי מת אתה ולא תחיה׃
2Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto Jehovah,
2Ezéchias tourna son visage contre le mur, et fit cette prière à l'Eternel:
2ויסב חזקיהו פניו אל הקיר ויתפלל אל יהוה׃
3and said, Remember now, O Jehovah, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
3O Eternel! souviens-toi que j'ai marché devant ta face avec fidélité et intégrité de coeur, et que j'ai fait ce qui est bien à tes yeux! Et Ezéchias répandit d'abondantes larmes.
3ויאמר אנה יהוה זכר נא את אשר התהלכתי לפניך באמת ובלב שלם והטוב בעיניך עשיתי ויבך חזקיהו בכי גדול׃
4Then came the word of Jehovah to Isaiah, saying,
4Puis la parole de l'Eternel fut adressée à Esaïe, en ces mots:
4ויהי דבר יהוה אל ישעיהו לאמר׃
5Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.
5Va, et dis à Ezéchias: Ainsi parle l'Eternel, le Dieu de David, ton père: J'ai entendu ta prière, j'ai vu tes larmes. Voici, j'ajouterai à tes jours quinze années.
5הלוך ואמרת אל חזקיהו כה אמר יהוה אלהי דוד אביך שמעתי את תפלתך ראיתי את דמעתך הנני יוסף על ימיך חמש עשרה שנה׃
6And I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city.
6Je te délivrerai, toi et cette ville, de la main du roi d'Assyrie; je protégerai cette ville.
6ומכף מלך אשור אצילך ואת העיר הזאת וגנותי על העיר הזאת׃
7And this shall be the sign unto thee from Jehovah, that Jehovah will do this thing that he hath spoken:
7Et voici, de la part de l'Eternel, le signe auquel tu connaîtras que l'Eternel accomplira la parole qu'il a prononcée.
7וזה לך האות מאת יהוה אשר יעשה יהוה את הדבר הזה אשר דבר׃
8behold, I will cause the shadow on the steps, which is gone down on the dial of Ahaz with the sun, to return backward ten steps. So the sun returned ten steps on the dial whereon it was gone down.
8Je ferai reculer de dix degrés en arrière avec le soleil l'ombre des degrés qui est descendue sur les degrés d'Achaz. Et le soleil recula de dix degrés sur les degrés où il était descendu.
8הנני משיב את צל המעלות אשר ירדה במעלות אחז בשמש אחרנית עשר מעלות ותשב השמש עשר מעלות במעלות אשר ירדה׃
9The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick, and was recovered of his sickness.
9Cantique d'Ezéchias, roi de Juda, sur sa maladie et sur son rétablissement.
9מכתב לחזקיהו מלך יהודה בחלתו ויחי מחליו׃
10I said, In the noontide of my days I shall go into the gates of Sheol: I am deprived of the residue of my years.
10Je disais: Quand mes jours sont en repos, je dois m'en aller Aux portes du séjour des morts. Je suis privé du reste de mes années!
10אני אמרתי בדמי ימי אלכה בשערי שאול פקדתי יתר שנותי׃
11I said, I shall not see Jehovah, [even] Jehovah in the land of the living: I shall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world.
11Je disais: Je ne verrai plus l'Eternel, L'Eternel, sur la terre des vivants; Je ne verrai plus aucun homme Parmi les habitants du monde!
11אמרתי לא אראה יה יה בארץ החיים לא אביט אדם עוד עם יושבי חדל׃
12My dwelling is removed, and is carried away from me as a shepherd's tent: I have rolled up, like a weaver, my life; he will cut me off from the loom: From day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.
12Ma demeure est enlevée et transportée loin de moi, Comme une tente de berger; Je sens le fil de ma vie coupé comme par un tisserand Qui me retrancherait de sa trame. Du jour à la nuit tu m'auras achevé!
12דורי נסע ונגלה מני כאהל רעי קפדתי כארג חיי מדלה יבצעני מיום עד לילה תשלימני׃
13I quieted [myself] until morning; as a lion, so he breaketh all my bones: From day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.
13Je me suis contenu jusqu'au matin; Comme un lion, il brisait tous mes os, Du jour à la nuit tu m'auras achevé!
13שויתי עד בקר כארי כן ישבר כל עצמותי מיום עד לילה תשלימני׃
14Like a swallow [or] a crane, so did I chatter; I did moan as a dove; mine eyes fail [with looking] upward: O Lord, I am oppressed, be thou my surety.
14Je poussais des cris comme une hirondelle en voltigeant, Je gémissais comme la colombe; Mes yeux s'élevaient languissants vers le ciel: O Eternel! je suis dans l'angoisse, secours-moi!
14כסוס עגור כן אצפצף אהגה כיונה דלו עיני למרום אדני עשקה לי ערבני׃
15What shall I say? he hath both spoken unto me, and himself hath done it: I shall go softly all my years because of the bitterness of my soul.
15Que dirai-je? Il m'a répondu, et il m'a exaucé. Je marcherai humblement jusqu'au terme de mes années, Après avoir été ainsi affligé.
15מה אדבר ואמר לי והוא עשה אדדה כל שנותי על מר נפשי׃
16O Lord, by these things men live; And wholly therein is the life of my spirit: Wherefore recover thou me, and make me to live.
16Seigneur, c'est par tes bontés qu'on jouit de la vie, C'est par elles que je respire encore; Tu me rétablis, tu me rends à la vie.
16אדני עליהם יחיו ולכל בהן חיי רוחי ותחלימני והחיני׃
17Behold, [it was] for [my] peace [that] I had great bitterness: But thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption; For thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.
17Voici, mes souffrances mêmes sont devenues mon salut; Tu as pris plaisir à retirer mon âme de la fosse du néant, Car tu as jeté derrière toi tous mes péchés.
17הנה לשלום מר לי מר ואתה חשקת נפשי משחת בלי כי השלכת אחרי גוך כל חטאי׃
18For Sheol cannot praise thee, death cannot celebrate thee: They that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.
18Ce n'est pas le séjour des morts qui te loue, Ce n'est pas la mort qui te célèbre; Ceux qui sont descendus dans la fosse n'espèrent plus en ta fidélité.
18כי לא שאול תודך מות יהללך לא ישברו יורדי בור אל אמתך׃
19The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: The father to the children shall make known thy truth.
19Le vivant, le vivant, c'est celui-là qui te loue, Comme moi aujourd'hui; Le père fait connaître à ses enfants ta fidélité.
19חי חי הוא יודך כמוני היום אב לבנים יודיע אל אמתך׃
20Jehovah is [ready] to save me: Therefore we will sing my songs with stringed instruments All the days of our life in the house of Jehovah.
20L'Eternel m'a sauvé! Nous ferons résonner les cordes de nos instruments, Tous les jours de notre vie, Dans la maison de l'Eternel.
20יהוה להושיעני ונגנותי ננגן כל ימי חיינו על בית יהוה׃
21Now Isaiah had said, Let them take a cake of figs, and lay it for a plaster upon the boil, and he shall recover.
21Esaïe avait dit: Qu'on apporte une masse de figues, et qu'on les étende sur l'ulcère; et Ezéchias vivra.
21ויאמר ישעיהו ישאו דבלת תאנים וימרחו על השחין ויחי׃
22Hezekiah also had said, What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of Jehovah?
22Et Ezéchias avait dit: A quel signe connaîtrai-je que je monterai à la maison de l'Eternel?
22ויאמר חזקיהו מה אות כי אעלה בית יהוה׃
