1And there was a man of the hill-country of Ephraim, whose name was Micah.
1Il y avait un homme de la montagne d'Ephraïm, nommé Mica.
1ויהי איש מהר אפרים ושמו מיכיהו׃
2And he said unto his mother, The eleven hundred [pieces] of silver that were taken from thee, about which thou didst utter a curse, and didst also speak it in mine ears, behold, the silver is with me; I took it. And his mother said, Blessed be my son of Jehovah.
2Il dit à sa mère: Les mille et cent sicles d'argent qu'on t'a pris, et pour lesquels tu as fait des imprécations même à mes oreilles, voici, cet argent est entre mes mains, c'est moi qui l'avais pris. Et sa mère dit: Béni soit mon fils par l'Eternel!
2ויאמר לאמו אלף ומאה הכסף אשר לקח לך ואתי אלית וגם אמרת באזני הנה הכסף אתי אני לקחתיו ותאמר אמו ברוך בני ליהוה׃
3And he restored the eleven hundred [pieces] of silver to his mother; and his mother said, I verily dedicate the silver unto Jehovah from my hand for my son, to make a graven image and a molten image: now therefore I will restore it unto thee.
3Il rendit à sa mère les mille et cent sicles d'argent; et sa mère dit: Je consacre de ma main cet argent à l'Eternel, afin d'en faire pour mon fils une image taillée et une image en fonte; et c'est ainsi que je te le rendrai.
3וישב את אלף ומאה הכסף לאמו ותאמר אמו הקדש הקדשתי את הכסף ליהוה מידי לבני לעשות פסל ומסכה ועתה אשיבנו לך׃
4And when he restored the money unto his mother, his mother took two hundred [pieces] of silver, and gave them to the founder, who made thereof a graven image and a molten image: and it was in the house of Micah.
4Il rendit à sa mère l'argent. Sa mère prit deux cents sicles d'argent. Et elle donna l'argent au fondeur, qui en fit une image taillée et une image en fonte. On les plaça dans la maison de Mica.
4וישב את הכסף לאמו ותקח אמו מאתים כסף ותתנהו לצורף ויעשהו פסל ומסכה ויהי בבית מיכיהו׃
5And the man Micah had a house of gods, and he made an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.
5Ce Mica avait une maison de Dieu; il fit un éphod et des théraphim, et il consacra l'un de ses fils, qui lui servit de prêtre.
5והאיש מיכה לו בית אלהים ויעש אפוד ותרפים וימלא את יד אחד מבניו ויהי לו לכהן׃
6In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.
6En ce temps-là, il n'y avait point de roi en Israël. Chacun faisait ce qui lui semblait bon.
6בימים ההם אין מלך בישראל איש הישר בעיניו יעשה׃
7And there was a young man out of Beth-lehem-judah, of the family of Judah, who was a Levite; and he sojourned there.
7Il y avait un jeune homme de Bethléhem de Juda, de la famille de Juda; il était Lévite, et il séjournait là.
7ויהי נער מבית לחם יהודה ממשפחת יהודה והוא לוי והוא גר שם׃
8And the man departed out of the city, out of Beth-lehem-judah, to sojourn where he could find [a place], and he came to the hill-country of Ephraim to the house of Micah, as he journeyed.
8Cet homme partit de la ville de Bethléhem de Juda, pour chercher une demeure qui lui convînt. En poursuivant son chemin, il arriva dans la montagne d'Ephraïm jusqu'à la maison de Mica.
8וילך האיש מהעיר מבית לחם יהודה לגור באשר ימצא ויבא הר אפרים עד בית מיכה לעשות דרכו׃
9And Micah said unto him, Whence comest thou? And he said unto him, I am a Levite of Beth-lehem-judah, and I go to sojourn where I may find [a place].
9Mica lui dit: D'où viens-tu? Il lui répondit: Je suis Lévite, de Bethléhem de Juda, et je voyage pour chercher une demeure qui me convienne.
9ויאמר לו מיכה מאין תבוא ויאמר אליו לוי אנכי מבית לחם יהודה ואנכי הלך לגור באשר אמצא׃
10And Micah said unto him, Dwell with me, and be unto me a father and a priest, and I will give thee ten [pieces] of silver by the year, and a suit of apparel, and thy victuals. So the Levite went in.
10Mica lui dit: Reste avec moi; tu me serviras de père et de prêtre, et je te donnerai dix sicles d'argent par année, les vêtements dont tu auras besoin, et ton entretien. Et le Lévite entra.
10ויאמר לו מיכה שבה עמדי והיה לי לאב ולכהן ואנכי אתן לך עשרת כסף לימים וערך בגדים ומחיתך וילך הלוי׃
11And the Levite was content to dwell with the man; and the young man was unto him as one of his sons.
11Il se décida ainsi à rester avec cet homme, qui regarda le jeune homme comme l'un de ses fils.
11ויואל הלוי לשבת את האיש ויהי הנער לו כאחד מבניו׃
12And Micah consecrated the Levite, and the young man became his priest, and was in the house of Micah.
12Mica consacra le Lévite, et ce jeune homme lui servit de prêtre et demeura dans sa maison.
12וימלא מיכה את יד הלוי ויהי לו הנער לכהן ויהי בבית מיכה׃
13Then said Micah, Now know I that Jehovah will do me good, seeing I have a Levite to my priest.
13Et Mica dit: Maintenant, je sais que l'Eternel me fera du bien, puisque j'ai ce Lévite pour prêtre.
13ויאמר מיכה עתה ידעתי כי ייטיב יהוה לי כי היה לי הלוי לכהן׃
