¹And I said, Hear, I pray you, ye heads of Jacob, and rulers of the house of Israel: is it not for you to know justice?

¹Je dis: Ecoutez, chefs de Jacob, Et princes de la maison d'Israël! N'est-ce pas à vous à connaître la justice?

¹ואמר שמעו נא ראשי יעקב וקציני בית ישראל הלוא לכם לדעת את המשפט׃

²ye who hate the good, and love the evil; who pluck off their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones;

²Vous haïssez le bien et vous aimez le mal; Vous leur arrachez la peau et la chair de dessus les os.

²שנאי טוב ואהבי רעה גזלי עורם מעליהם ושארם מעל עצמותם׃

³who also eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them, and break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the caldron.

³Ils dévorent la chair de mon peuple, Lui arrachent la peau, Et lui brisent les os; Ils le mettent en pièces comme ce qu'on cuit dans un pot, Comme de la viande dans une chaudière.

³ואשר אכלו שאר עמי ועורם מעליהם הפשיטו ואת עצמתיהם פצחו ופרשו כאשר בסיר וכבשר בתוך קלחת׃

⁴Then shall they cry unto Jehovah, but he will not answer them; yea, he will hide his face from them at that time, according as they have wrought evil in their doings.

⁴Alors ils crieront vers l'Eternel, Mais il ne leur répondra pas; Il leur cachera sa face en ce temps-là, Parce qu'ils ont fait de mauvaises actions.

⁴אז יזעקו אל יהוה ולא יענה אותם ויסתר פניו מהם בעת ההיא כאשר הרעו מעלליהם׃

⁵Thus saith Jehovah concerning the prophets that make my people to err; that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and whoso putteth not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him:

⁵Ainsi parle l'Eternel sur les prophètes qui égarent mon peuple, Qui annoncent la paix si leurs dents ont quelque chose à mordre, Et qui publient la guerre si on ne leur met rien dans la bouche:

⁵כה אמר יהוה על הנביאים המתעים את עמי הנשכים בשניהם וקראו שלום ואשר לא יתן על פיהם וקדשו עליו מלחמה׃

⁶Therefore it shall be night unto you, that ye shall have no vision; and it shall be dark unto you, that ye shall not divine; and the sun shall go down upon the prophets, and the day shall be black over them.

⁶A cause de cela, vous aurez la nuit..., et plus de visions! Vous aurez les ténèbres..., et plus d'oracles! Le soleil se couchera sur ces prophètes, Le jour s'obscurcira sur eux.

⁶לכן לילה לכם מחזון וחשכה לכם מקסם ובאה השמש על הנביאים וקדר עליהם היום׃

⁷And the seers shall be put to shame, and the diviners confounded; yea, they shall all cover their lips; for there is no answer of God.

⁷Les voyants seront confus, les devins rougiront, Tous se couvriront la barbe; Car Dieu ne répondra pas.

⁷ובשו החזים וחפרו הקסמים ועטו על שפם כלם כי אין מענה אלהים׃

⁸But as for me, I am full of power by the Spirit of Jehovah, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.

⁸Mais moi, je suis rempli de force, de l'esprit de l'Eternel, Je suis rempli de justice et de vigueur, Pour faire connaître à Jacob son crime, Et à Israël son péché.

⁸ואולם אנכי מלאתי כח את רוח יהוה ומשפט וגבורה להגיד ליעקב פשעו ולישראל חטאתו׃

⁹Hear this, I pray you, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and rulers of the house of Israel, that abhor justice, and pervert all equity.

⁹Ecoutez donc ceci, chefs de la maison de Jacob, Et princes de la maison d'Israël, Vous qui avez en horreur la justice, Et qui pervertissez tout ce qui est droit,

⁹שמעו נא זאת ראשי בית יעקב וקציני בית ישראל המתעבים משפט ואת כל הישרה יעקשו׃

¹⁰They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity.

¹⁰Vous qui bâtissez Sion avec le sang, Et Jérusalem avec l'iniquité!

¹⁰בנה ציון בדמים וירושלם בעולה׃

¹¹The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet they lean upon Jehovah, and say, Is not Jehovah in the midst of us? no evil shall come upon us.

¹¹Ses chefs jugent pour des présents, Ses sacrificateurs enseignent pour un salaire, Et ses prophètes prédisent pour de l'argent; Et ils osent s'appuyer sur l'Eternel, ils disent: L'Eternel n'est-il pas au milieu de nous? Le malheur ne nous atteindra pas.

¹¹ראשיה בשחד ישפטו וכהניה במחיר יורו ונביאיה בכסף יקסמו ועל יהוה ישענו לאמר הלוא יהוה בקרבנו לא תבוא עלינו רעה׃

¹²Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.

¹²C'est pourquoi, à cause de vous, Sion sera labourée comme un champ, Jérusalem deviendra un monceau de pierres, Et la montagne du temple une sommité couverte de bois.

¹²לכן בגללכם ציון שדה תחרש וירושלם עיין תהיה והר הבית לבמות יער׃
