¹Now shalt thou gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops: he hath laid siege against us; they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.

¹Maintenant, fille de troupes, rassemble tes troupes! On nous assiège; Avec la verge on frappe sur la joue le juge d'Israël.

¹עתה תתגדדי בת גדוד מצור שם עלינו בשבט יכו על הלחי את שפט ישראל׃

²But thou, Beth-lehem Ephrathah, which art little to be among the thousands of Judah, out of thee shall one come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.

²Et toi, Bethléhem Ephrata, Petite entre les milliers de Juda, De toi sortira pour moi Celui qui dominera sur Israël, Et dont l'origine remonte aux temps anciens, Aux jours de l'éternité.

²ואתה בית לחם אפרתה צעיר להיות באלפי יהודה ממך לי יצא להיות מושל בישראל ומוצאתיו מקדם מימי עולם׃

³Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she who travaileth hath brought forth: then the residue of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.

³C'est pourquoi il les livrera Jusqu'au temps où enfantera celle qui doit enfanter, Et le reste de ses frères Reviendra auprès des enfants d'Israël.

³לכן יתנם עד עת יולדה ילדה ויתר אחיו ישובון על בני ישראל׃

⁴And he shall stand, and shall feed [his flock] in the strength of Jehovah, in the majesty of the name of Jehovah his God: and they shall abide; for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.

⁴Il se présentera, et il gouvernera avec la force de l'Eternel, Avec la majesté du nom de l'Eternel, son Dieu: Et ils auront une demeure assurée, Car il sera glorifié jusqu'aux extrémités de la terre.

⁴ועמד ורעה בעז יהוה בגאון שם יהוה אלהיו וישבו כי עתה יגדל עד אפסי ארץ׃

⁵And this [man] shall be [our] peace. When the Assyrian shall come into our land, and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.

⁵C'est lui qui ramènera la paix. Lorsque l'Assyrien viendra dans notre pays, Et qu'il pénétrera dans nos palais, Nous ferons lever contre lui sept pasteurs Et huit princes du peuple.

⁵והיה זה שלום אשור כי יבוא בארצנו וכי ידרך בארמנתינו והקמנו עליו שבעה רעים ושמנה נסיכי אדם׃

⁶And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: and he shall deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our border.

⁶Ils feront avec l'épée leur pâture du pays d'Assyrie Et du pays de Nimrod au dedans de ses portes. Il nous délivrera ainsi de l'Assyrien, Lorsqu'il viendra dans notre pays, Et qu'il pénétrera sur notre territoire.

⁶ורעו את ארץ אשור בחרב ואת ארץ נמרד בפתחיה והציל מאשור כי יבוא בארצנו וכי ידרך בגבולנו׃

⁷And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples as dew from Jehovah, as showers upon the grass, that tarry not for man, nor wait for the sons of men.

⁷Le reste de Jacob sera au milieu des peuples nombreux Comme une rosée qui vient de l'Eternel, Comme des gouttes d'eau sur l'herbe: Elles ne comptent pas sur l'homme, Elles ne dépendent pas des enfants des hommes.

⁷והיה שארית יעקב בקרב עמים רבים כטל מאת יהוה כרביבים עלי עשב אשר לא יקוה לאיש ולא ייחל לבני אדם׃

⁸And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep; who, if he go through, treadeth down and teareth in pieces, and there is none to deliver.

⁸Le reste de Jacob sera parmi les nations, Au milieu des peuples nombreux, Comme un lion parmi les bêtes de la forêt, Comme un lionceau parmi les troupeaux de brebis: Lorsqu'il passe, il foule et déchire, Et personne ne délivre.

⁸והיה שארית יעקב בגוים בקרב עמים רבים כאריה בבהמות יער ככפיר בעדרי צאן אשר אם עבר ורמס וטרף ואין מציל׃

⁹Let thy hand be lifted up above thine adversaries, and let all thine enemies be cut off.

⁹Que ta main se lève sur tes adversaires, Et que tous tes ennemis soient exterminés!

⁹תרם ידך על צריך וכל איביך יכרתו׃

¹⁰And it shall come to pass in that day, saith Jehovah, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and will destroy thy chariots:

¹⁰En ce jour-là, dit l'Eternel, J'exterminerai du milieu de toi tes chevaux, Et je détruirai tes chars;

¹⁰והיה ביום ההוא נאם יהוה והכרתי סוסיך מקרבך והאבדתי מרכבתיך׃

¹¹and I will cut off the cities of thy land, and will throw down all thy strongholds.

¹¹J'exterminerai les villes de ton pays, Et je renverserai toutes tes forteresses;

¹¹והכרתי ערי ארצך והרסתי כל מבצריך׃

¹²And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thy hand; and thou shalt have no [more] soothsayers:

¹²J'exterminerai de ta main les enchantements, Et tu n'auras plus de magiciens;

¹²והכרתי כשפים מידך ומעוננים לא יהיו לך׃

¹³and I will cut off thy graven images and thy pillars out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more worship the work of thy hands;

¹³J'exterminerai du milieu de toi tes idoles et tes statues, Et tu ne te prosterneras plus devant l'ouvrage de tes mains;

¹³והכרתי פסיליך ומצבותיך מקרבך ולא תשתחוה עוד למעשה ידיך׃

¹⁴and I will pluck up thine Asherim out of the midst of thee; and I will destroy thy cities.

¹⁴J'exterminerai du milieu de toi tes idoles d'Astarté, Et je détruirai tes villes.

¹⁴ונתשתי אשיריך מקרבך והשמדתי עריך׃

¹⁵And I will execute vengeance in anger and wrath upon the nations which hearkened not.

¹⁵J'exercerai ma vengeance avec colère, avec fureur, sur les nations Qui n'ont pas écouté.

¹⁵ועשיתי באף ובחמה נקם את הגוים אשר לא שמעו׃
