⁶Shemaiah, and Joiarib, Jedaiah.

⁶שמעיה ויויריב ידעיה׃

⁷Sallu, Amok, Hilkiah, Jedaiah. These were the chiefs of the priests and of their brethren in the days of Jeshua.

⁸Moreover the Levites: Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, [and] Mattaniah, who was over the thanksgiving, he and his brethren.

⁸Lévites: Josué, Binnuï, Kadmiel, Schérébia, Juda, Matthania, qui dirigeait avec ses frères le chant des louanges;

⁸והלוים ישוע בנוי קדמיאל שרביה יהודה מתניה על הידות הוא ואחיו׃

⁹Also Bakbukiah and Unno, their brethren, were over against them according to their offices.

⁹Bakbukia et Unni, qui remplissaient leurs fonctions auprès de leurs frères.

⁹ובקבקיה וענו אחיהם לנגדם למשמרות׃

¹⁰And Jeshua begat Joiakim, and Joiakim begat Eliashib, and Eliashib begat Joiada,

¹⁰Josué engendra Jojakim, Jojakim engendra Eliaschib, Eliaschib engendra Jojada,

¹⁰וישוע הוליד את יויקים ויויקים הוליד את אלישיב ואלישיב את יוידע׃

¹¹and Joiada begat Jonathan, and Jonathan begat Jaddua.

¹²And in the days of Joiakim were priests, heads of fathers' [houses]: of Seraiah, Meraiah; of Jeremiah, Hananiah;

¹⁹and of Joiarib, Mattenai; of Jedaiah, Uzzi;

²⁰of Sallai, Kallai; of Amok, Eber;

²¹of Hilkiah, Hashabiah; of Jedaiah, Nethanel.

²²As for the Levites, in the days of Eliashib, Joiada, and Johanan, and Jaddua, there were recorded the heads of fathers' [houses]; also the priests, in the reign of Darius the Persian.

²²Au temps d'Eliaschib, de Jojada, de Jochanan et de Jaddua, les Lévites, chefs de familles, et les sacrificateurs, furent inscrits, sous le règne de Darius, le Perse.

²²הלוים בימי אלישיב יוידע ויוחנן וידוע כתובים ראשי אבות והכהנים על מלכות דריוש הפרסי׃

²³The sons of Levi, heads of fathers' [houses], were written in the book of the chronicles, even until the days of Johanan the son of Eliashib.

²³Les fils de Lévi, chefs de familles, furent inscrits dans le livre des Chroniques jusqu'au temps de Jochanan, fils d'Eliaschib.

²³בני לוי ראשי האבות כתובים על ספר דברי הימים ועד ימי יוחנן בן אלישיב׃

²⁴And the chiefs of the Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brethren over against them, to praise and give thanks, according to the commandment of David the man of God, watch next to watch.

²⁴Les chefs des Lévites, Haschabia, Schérébia, et Josué, fils de Kadmiel, et leurs frères avec eux, les uns vis-à-vis des autres, étaient chargés de célébrer et de louer l'Eternel, selon l'ordre de David, homme de Dieu.

²⁴וראשי הלוים חשביה שרביה וישוע בן קדמיאל ואחיהם לנגדם להלל להודות במצות דויד איש האלהים משמר לעמת משמר׃

²⁵Mattaniah, and Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, Akkub, were porters keeping the watch at the store-houses of the gates.

²⁵Matthania, Bakbukia, Abdias, Meschullam, Thalmon et Akkub, portiers, faisaient la garde aux seuils des portes.

²⁵מתניה ובקבקיה עבדיה משלם טלמון עקוב שמרים שוערים משמר באספי השערים׃

²⁶These were in the days of Joiakim the son of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the governor, and of Ezra the priest the scribe.

²⁶Ils vivaient au temps de Jojakim, fils de Josué, fils de Jotsadak, et au temps de Néhémie, le gouverneur, et d'Esdras, le sacrificateur et le scribe.

²⁶אלה בימי יויקים בן ישוע בן יוצדק ובימי נחמיה הפחה ועזרא הכהן הסופר׃

²⁷And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, to keep the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings, and with singing, with cymbals, psalteries, and with harps.

²⁷Lors de la dédicace des murailles de Jérusalem, on appela les Lévites de tous les lieux qu'ils habitaient et on les fit venir à Jérusalem, afin de célébrer la dédicace et la fête par des louanges et par des chants, au son des cymbales, des luths et des harpes.

²⁷ובחנכת חומת ירושלם בקשו את הלוים מכל מקומתם להביאם לירושלם לעשת חנכה ושמחה ובתודות ובשיר מצלתים נבלים ובכנרות׃

²⁸And the sons of the singers gathered themselves together, both out of the plain round about Jerusalem, and from the villages of the Netophathites;

²⁸Les fils des chantres se rassemblèrent des environs de Jérusalem, des villages des Nethophatiens,

²⁸ויאספו בני המשררים ומן הככר סביבות ירושלם ומן חצרי נטפתי׃

²⁹also from Beth-gilgal, and out of the fields of Geba and Azmaveth: for the singers had builded them villages round about Jerusalem.

²⁹de Beth-Guilgal, et du territoire de Guéba et d'Azmaveth; car les chantres s'étaient bâti des villages aux alentours de Jérusalem.

²⁹ומבית הגלגל ומשדות גבע ועזמות כי חצרים בנו להם המשררים סביבות ירושלם׃

³⁰And the priests and the Levites purified themselves; and they purified the people, and the gates, and the wall.

³⁰Les sacrificateurs et les Lévites se purifièrent, et ils purifièrent le peuple, les portes et la muraille.

³⁰ויטהרו הכהנים והלוים ויטהרו את העם ואת השערים ואת החומה׃

³¹Then I brought up the princes of Judah upon the wall, and appointed two great companies that gave thanks and went in procession; [whereof one went] on the right hand upon the wall toward the dung gate:

³¹Je fis monter sur la muraille les chefs de Juda, et je formai deux grands choeurs. Le premier se mit en marche du côté droit sur la muraille, vers la porte du fumier.

³¹ואעלה את שרי יהודה מעל לחומה ואעמידה שתי תודת גדולת ותהלכת לימין מעל לחומה לשער האשפת׃

³²and after them went Hoshaiah, and half of the princes of Judah,

³²Derrière ce choeur marchaient Hosée et la moitié des chefs de Juda,

³²וילך אחריהם הושעיה וחצי שרי יהודה׃

³³and Azariah, Ezra, and Meshullam,

³³Azaria, Esdras, Meschullam,

³⁴Judah, and Benjamin, and Shemaiah, and Jeremiah,

³⁴Juda, Benjamin, Schemaeja et Jérémie,

³⁴יהודה ובנימן ושמעיה וירמיה׃

³⁵and certain of the priests' sons with trumpets: Zechariah the son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph;

³⁵des fils de sacrificateurs avec des trompettes, Zacharie, fils de Jonathan, fils de Schemaeja, fils de Matthania, fils de Michée, fils de Zaccur, fils d'Asaph,

³⁵ומבני הכהנים בחצצרות זכריה בן יונתן בן שמעיה בן מתניה בן מיכיה בן זכור בן אסף׃

³⁶and his brethren, Shemaiah, and Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, and Judah, Hanani, with the musical instruments of David the man of God; and Ezra the scribe was before them.

³⁶et ses frères, Schemaeja, Azareel, Milalaï, Guilalaï, Maaï, Nethaneel, Juda et Hanani, avec les instruments de musique de David, homme de Dieu. Esdras, le scribe, était à leur tête.

³⁶ואחיו שמעיה ועזראל מללי גללי מעי נתנאל ויהודה חנני בכלי שיר דויד איש האלהים ועזרא הסופר לפניהם׃

³⁷And by the fountain gate, and straight before them, they went up by the stairs of the city of David, at the ascent of the wall, above the house of David, even unto the water gate eastward.

³⁷A la porte de la source, ils montèrent vis-à-vis d'eux les degrés de la cité de David par la montée de la muraille, au-dessus de la maison de David, jusqu'à la porte des eaux, vers l'orient.

³⁷ועל שער העין ונגדם עלו על מעלות עיר דויד במעלה לחומה מעל לבית דויד ועד שער המים מזרח׃

³⁸And the other company of them that gave thanks went to meet them, and I after them, with the half of the people, upon the wall, above the tower of the furnaces, even unto the broad wall,

³⁸Le second choeur se mit en marche à l'opposite. J'étais derrière lui avec l'autre moitié du peuple, sur la muraille. Passant au-dessus de la tour des fours, on alla jusqu'à la muraille large;

³⁸והתודה השנית ההולכת למואל ואני אחריה וחצי העם מעל להחומה מעל למגדל התנורים ועד החומה הרחבה׃

³⁹and above the gate of Ephraim, and by the old gate, and by the fish gate, and the tower of Hananel, and the tower of Hammeah, even unto the sheep gate: and they stood still in the gate of the guard.

³⁹puis au-dessus de la porte d'Ephraïm, de la vieille porte, de la porte des poissons, de la tour de Hananeel et de la tour de Méa, jusqu'à la porte des brebis. Et l'on s'arrêta à la porte de la prison.

³⁹ומעל לשער אפרים ועל שער הישנה ועל שער הדגים ומגדל חננאל ומגדל המאה ועד שער הצאן ועמדו בשער המטרה׃

⁴⁰So stood the two companies of them that gave thanks in the house of God, and I, and the half of the rulers with me;

⁴⁰Les deux choeurs s'arrêtèrent dans la maison de Dieu; et nous fîmes de même, moi et les magistrats qui étaient avec moi,

⁴⁰ותעמדנה שתי התודת בבית האלהים ואני וחצי הסגנים עמי׃

⁴¹and the priests, Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah, with trumpets;

⁴¹et les sacrificateurs Eliakim, Maaséja, Minjamin, Michée, Eljoénaï, Zacharie, Hanania, avec des trompettes,

⁴¹והכהנים אליקים מעשיה מנימין מיכיה אליועיני זכריה חנניה בחצצרות׃

⁴²and Maaseiah, and Shemaiah, and Eleazar, and Uzzi, and Jehohanan, and Malchijah, and Elam, and Ezer. And the singers sang loud, with Jezrahiah their overseer.

⁴²et Maaséja, Schemaeja, Eléazar, Uzzi, Jochanan, Malkija, Elam et Ezer. Les chantres se firent entendre, dirigés par Jizrachja.

⁴²ומעשיה ושמעיה ואלעזר ועזי ויהוחנן ומלכיה ועילם ועזר וישמיעו המשררים ויזרחיה הפקיד׃

⁴³And they offered great sacrifices that day, and rejoiced; for God had made them rejoice with great joy; and the women also and the children rejoiced: so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard even afar off.

⁴³On offrit ce jour-là de nombreux sacrifices, et on se livra aux réjouissances, car Dieu avait donné au peuple un grand sujet de joie. Les femmes et les enfants se réjouirent aussi, et les cris de joie de Jérusalem furent entendus au loin.

⁴³ויזבחו ביום ההוא זבחים גדולים וישמחו כי האלהים שמחם שמחה גדולה וגם הנשים והילדים שמחו ותשמע שמחת ירושלם מרחוק׃

⁴⁴And on that day were men appointed over the chambers for the treasures, for the heave-offerings, for the first-fruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them, according to the fields of the cities, the portions appointed by the law for the priests and Levites: for Judah rejoiced for the priests and for the Levites that waited.

⁴⁴En ce jour, on établit des hommes ayant la surveillance des chambres qui servaient de magasins pour les offrandes, les prémices et les dîmes, et on les chargea d'y recueillir du territoire des villes les portions assignées par la loi aux sacrificateurs et aux Lévites. Car Juda se réjouissait de ce que les sacrificateurs et les Lévites étaient à leur poste,

⁴⁴ויפקדו ביום ההוא אנשים על הנשכות לאוצרות לתרומות לראשית ולמעשרות לכנוס בהם לשדי הערים מנאות התורה לכהנים וללוים כי שמחת יהודה על הכהנים ועל הלוים העמדים׃

⁴⁵And they kept the charge of their God, and the charge of the purification, and [so did] the singers and the porters, according to the commandment of David, and of Solomon his son.

⁴⁵observant tout ce qui concernait le service de Dieu et des purifications. Les chantres et les portiers remplissaient aussi leurs fonctions, selon l'ordre de David et de Salomon, son fils;

⁴⁵וישמרו משמרת אלהיהם ומשמרת הטהרה והמשררים והשערים כמצות דויד שלמה בנו׃

⁴⁶For in the days of David and Asaph of old there was a chief of the singers, and songs of praise and thanksgiving unto God.

⁴⁶car autrefois, du temps de David et d'Asaph, il y avait des chefs de chantres et des chants de louanges et d'actions de grâces en l'honneur de Dieu.

⁴⁶כי בימי דויד ואסף מקדם ראש המשררים ושיר תהלה והדות לאלהים׃

⁴⁷And all Israel in the days of Zerubbabel, and in the days of Nehemiah, gave the portions of the singers and the porters, as every day required: and they set apart [that which was] for the Levites; and the Levites set apart [that which was] for the sons of Aaron.

⁴⁷Tout Israël, au temps de Zorobabel et de Néhémie, donna les portions des chantres et des portiers, jour par jour; on donna aux Lévites les choses consacrées, et les Lévites donnèrent aux fils d'Aaron les choses consacrées.

⁴⁷וכל ישראל בימי זרבבל ובימי נחמיה נתנים מניות המשררים והשערים דבר יום ביומו ומקדשים ללוים והלוים מקדשים לבני אהרן׃
