¹Of Moab. Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Woe unto Nebo! for it is laid waste; Kiriathaim is put to shame, it is taken; Misgab is put to shame and broken down.

¹Inilah yang dikatakan TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa, Allah Israel mengenai Moab, "Celakalah penduduk Nebo, kotanya sudah roboh! Kiryataim direbut, dan bentengnya yang kuat dihancurkan, sehingga penduduknya menjadi malu;

²The praise of Moab is no more; in Heshbon they have devised evil against her: Come, and let us cut her off from being a nation. Thou also, O Madmen, shalt be brought to silence: the sword shall pursue thee.

²lenyaplah kebanggaan Moab. Musuh telah merebut Hesybon dan di sana mereka merencanakan untuk melenyapkan seluruh bangsa Moab. Suara-suara di kota Madmen akan dihentikan, karena kota itu akan diserbu tentara.

³The sound of a cry from Horonaim, desolation and great destruction!

³Dengar! Penduduk Horonaim berteriak, 'Kebinasaan! Kehancuran!'

⁴Moab is destroyed; her little ones have caused a cry to be heard.

⁴Moab sudah musnah! Teriakan anak-anak kecilnya terdengar sampai ke Zoar.

⁵For by the ascent of Luhith with continual weeping shall they go up; for at the descent of Horonaim they have heard the distress of the cry of destruction.

⁵Dengarlah suara tangis di jalan naik ke Luhit, dan suara ratapan di jalan turun ke Horonaim.

⁶Flee, save your lives, and be like the heath in the wilderness.

⁶Kata mereka, 'Cepat! Selamatkan nyawamu! Larilah seperti keledai liar di gurun!'

⁷For, because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, thou also shalt be taken: and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity, his priests and his princes together.

⁷Moab! Engkau mengandalkan ketangkasan dan kekayaanmu. Tapi sekarang engkau sendiri akan dikalahkan. Kamos, dewamu, bersama para imam dan para pejabatnya akan diangkut ke pembuangan.

⁸And the destroyer shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape; the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed; as Jehovah hath spoken.

⁸Semua kota akan hancur, tak satu pun yang akan luput. Lembah dan dataran rendah seluruhnya akan musnah. Aku, TUHAN, telah berbicara.

⁹Give wings unto Moab, that she may fly and get her away: and her cities shall become a desolation, without any to dwell therein.

⁹Pasanglah batu nisan untuk Moab, sebab tak lama lagi negeri itu akan dimusnahkan sama sekali. Kota-kotanya akan runtuh dan tak seorang pun akan tinggal di sana."

¹⁰Cursed be he that doeth the work of Jehovah negligently; and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood.

¹⁰Terkutuklah orang yang tidak melaksanakan tugas dari TUHAN dengan sungguh-sungguh. Terkutuklah dia yang tak menghunus pedang dan membunuh.

¹¹Moab hath been at ease from his youth, and he hath settled on his lees, and hath not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither hath he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remaineth in him, and his scent is not changed.

¹¹TUHAN berkata, "Sejak dulu Moab hidup aman. Belum pernah ia diangkut ke pembuangan. Ia seperti air anggur yang dibiarkan mengendap dan tak pernah dituang ke tempat anggur yang lain. Anggurnya masih harum dan enak.

¹²Therefore, behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will send unto him them that pour off, and they shall pour him off; and they shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles in pieces.

¹²Tetapi, akan tiba waktunya Aku menyuruh agar Moab dituang seperti anggur, dan tempat-tempatnya dikosongkan dan dipecahkan.

¹³And Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Beth-el their confidence.

¹³Moab akan kecewa terhadap Kamos, dewa mereka, sama seperti orang Israel kecewa terhadap Betel yang mereka andalkan itu.

¹⁴How say ye, We are mighty men, and valiant men for the war?

¹⁴Bagaimana dapat laki-laki Moab berani berkata, 'Kami pahlawan, prajurit perkasa yang telah diuji dalam peperangan?'

¹⁵Moab is laid waste, and they are gone up into his cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, saith the King, whose name is Jehovah of hosts.

¹⁵Moab dan kota-kotanya telah dihancurkan, dan orang-orang mudanya yang terbaik telah dibunuh. Aku telah berbicara. Aku raja, TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa.

¹⁶The calamity of Moab is near to come, and his affliction hasteth fast.

¹⁶Malapetaka untuk Moab sudah diambang pintu, tak lama lagi ia hancur.

¹⁷All ye that are round about him, bemoan him, and all ye that know his name; say, How is the strong staff broken, the beautiful rod!

¹⁷Hai kamu negara-negara tetangga Moab yang tahu tentang kemasyhurannya, berkabunglah untuk dia! Katakan, 'Moab tidak lagi berkuasa, kebesaran dan kekuatannya sudah lenyap!'

¹⁸O thou daughter that dwellest in Dibon, come down from thy glory, and sit in thirst; for the destroyer of Moab is come up against thee, he hath destroyed thy strongholds.

¹⁸Hai penduduk Dibon, turunlah dari tempatmu yang terhormat; duduklah di tanah dan di atas debu. Karena yang merusak Moab negerimu telah tiba, dan akan menghancurkan semua bentengmu.

¹⁹O inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the way, and watch: ask him that fleeth, and her that escapeth; say, What hath been done?

¹⁹Kamu yang tinggal di Aroer, berdirilah di tepi jalan dan perhatikan! Tanyakanlah kepada mereka yang melarikan diri, dan lolos, 'Apakah yang telah terjadi?'

²⁰Moab is put to shame; for it is broken down: wail and cry; tell ye it by the Arnon, that Moab is laid waste.

²⁰Mereka akan menjawab, 'Moab sudah jatuh dan menjadi hina, karena itu tangisilah dia. Umumkan di sepanjang Sungai Arnon bahwa Moab sudah hancur.'"

²¹And judgment is come upon the plain country, upon Holon, and upon Jahzah, and upon Mephaath,

²¹"Hukuman telah dijatuhkan ke atas kota-kota di daerah dataran tinggi: atas Holon, Yahas, Mefaat,

²²and upon Dibon, and upon Nebo, and upon Beth-diblathaim,

²²Dibon, Nebo, Bet-Diblataim,

²³and upon Kiriathaim, and upon Beth-gamul, and upon Beth-meon,

²³Kiryataim, Bet-Gamul, Bet-Meon,

²⁴and upon Kerioth, and upon Bozrah, and upon all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near.

²⁴Keriot, dan Bozra. Semua kota Moab, jauh dan dekat, telah dihukum.

²⁵The horn of Moab is cut off, and his arm is broken, saith Jehovah.

²⁵Kekuatan Moab telah dipatahkan, dan kekuasaannya dihancurkan. Aku, TUHAN, telah berbicara."

²⁶Make ye him drunken; for he magnified himself against Jehovah: and Moab shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be in derision.

²⁶TUHAN berkata, "Buatlah Moab menjadi mabuk, karena ia menyombongkan diri terhadap Aku. Ia akan berguling-guling dalam muntahnya, dan ditertawakan orang.

²⁷For was not Israel a derision unto thee? was he found among thieves? for as often as thou speakest of him, thou waggest the head.

²⁷Bukankah dahulu orang Israel telah ditertawakan oleh Moab dan dipergunjingkan seolah-olah mereka telah tertangkap basah bersama pencuri-pencuri?

²⁸O ye inhabitants of Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock; and be like the dove that maketh her nest over the mouth of the abyss.

²⁸Kamu penduduk Moab, tinggalkanlah kota-kotamu dan diamlah di bukit batu seperti burung merpati membuat sarangnya di tebing jurang.

²⁹We have heard of the pride of Moab, [that] he is very proud; his loftiness, and his pride, and his arrogancy, and the haughtiness of his heart.

²⁹Kamu angkuh sekali! Aku sudah mendengar betapa sombong, tinggi hati, congkak, dan pongahnya kamu!

³⁰I know his wrath, saith Jehovah, that it is nought; his boastings have wrought nothing.

³⁰Aku, TUHAN, tahu keangkuhanmu. Bicaramu kosong belaka, dan perbuatanmu tidak berarti.

³¹Therefore will I wail for Moab; yea, I will cry out for all Moab: for the men of Kir-heres shall they mourn.

³¹Sebab itu Aku akan menangis keras-keras untuk kamu semua dan untuk orang-orang di Kir-Heres, ibukotamu.

³²With more than the weeping of Jazer will I weep for thee, O vine of Sibmah: thy branches passed over the sea, they reached even to the sea of Jazer: upon thy summer fruits and upon thy vintage the destroyer is fallen.

³²Aku akan lebih menangisi penduduk Sibma daripada penduduk Yaezer. Kota Sibma seperti tanaman anggur yang carang-carangnya merambat sampai ke seberang Laut Mati sejauh Yaezer. Tapi sekarang buah-buah musim panasnya dan buah anggurnya sudah dimusnahkan.

³³And gladness and joy is taken away from the fruitful field and from the land of Moab; and I have caused wine to cease from the winepresses: none shall tread with shouting; the shouting shall be no shouting.

³³Sorak-sorai keriangan sudah lenyap dari negeri Moab yang subur. Aku membuat air anggur berhenti mengalir dari alat pemeras anggur; tak ada lagi orang yang membuat anggur dan bersorak gembira.

³⁴From the cry of Heshbon even unto Elealeh, even unto Jahaz have they uttered their voice, from Zoar even unto Horonaim, to Eglath-shelishiyah: for the waters of Nimrim also shall become desolate.

³⁴Orang di Hesybon dan Eleale menangis dan tangisnya terdengar sampai ke Yahas, dan terdengar juga oleh orang-orang dari Zoar sampai ke Horonaim dan Eglat-Selisia. Mereka menangis karena air di anak Sungai Nimrim pun sudah kering.

³⁵Moreover I will cause to cease in Moab, saith Jehovah, him that offereth in the high place, and him that burneth incense to his gods.

³⁵Aku akan membuat orang Moab berhenti membakar kurban pada tempat-tempat penyembahan mereka dan berhenti mempersembahkan kurban kepada dewa-dewa mereka. Aku, TUHAN, telah berbicara.

³⁶Therefore my heart soundeth for Moab like pipes, and my heart soundeth like pipes for the men of Kir-heres: therefore the abundance that he hath gotten is perished.

³⁶Semua kekayaan Kir-Heres dan seluruh Moab sudah lenyap. Aku sedih melihat keadaan mereka itu; Aku seperti orang yang meniup lagu duka pada seruling.

³⁷For every head is bald, and every beard clipped: upon all the hands are cuttings, and upon the loins sackcloth.

³⁷Mereka semua sudah mencukur rambut kepala dan janggut, melukai lengan, dan memakai kain karung tanda sedih.

³⁸On all the housetops of Moab and in the streets thereof there is lamentation every where; for I have broken Moab like a vessel wherein none delighteth, saith Jehovah.

³⁸Di atas semua sotoh rumah dan di tanah-tanah lapang hanya terdengar tangisan. Sebab Moab telah Kupecahkan seperti tempayan yang tak disukai.

³⁹How is it broken down! [how] do they wail! how hath Moab turned the back with shame! so shall Moab become a derision and a terror to all that are round about him.

³⁹Moab telah hancur lebur! Betapa malunya Moab! Ia menangis karena telah dihina dan menjadi tertawaan bangsa-bangsa di sekelilingnya. Aku, TUHAN, telah berbicara."

⁴⁰For thus saith Jehovah: Behold, he shall fly as an eagle, and shall spread out his wings against Moab.

⁴⁰TUHAN berkata, "Seperti burung rajawali menyambar dengan sayap terkembang, demikianlah sebuah bangsa akan datang dan menyambar Moab.

⁴¹Kerioth is taken, and the strongholds are seized, and the heart of the mighty men of Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.

⁴¹Kota-kota dan benteng-bentengnya akan direbut dan tentaranya akan ketakutan seperti wanita yang mau melahirkan.

⁴²And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he hath magnified himself against Jehovah.

⁴²Moab akan hancur dan tidak lagi merupakan sebuah bangsa, karena mereka menyombongkan diri terhadap Aku.

⁴³Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of Moab, saith Jehovah.

⁴³Mereka dihadapkan dengan teror, lubang dan jerat.

⁴⁴He that fleeth from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that getteth up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for I will bring upon him, even upon Moab, the year of their visitation, saith Jehovah.

⁴⁴Orang yang melarikan diri dari teror akan jatuh ke dalam lubang, dan yang keluar dari lubang itu akan tertangkap dalam jerat. Semua itu akan terjadi pada saat yang telah Kutetapkan untuk menghancurkan Moab.

⁴⁵They that fled stand without strength under the shadow of Heshbon; for a fire is gone forth out of Heshbon, and a flame from the midst of Sihon, and hath devoured the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones.

⁴⁵Kaum pengungsi yang tak berdaya pergi mencari perlindungan ke Hesybon, tapi kota itu sedang terbakar dan istana Raja Sihon pun sedang dimakan api. Api telah memusnahkan daerah perbatasan dan pegunungan Moab, negeri orang-orang yang suka berperang.

⁴⁶Woe unto thee, O Moab! the people of Chemosh is undone; for thy sons are taken away captive, and thy daughters into captivity.

⁴⁶Celakalah Moab! Penduduknya yang menyembah Dewa Kamos telah dibinasakan, dan anak-anak mereka diangkut sebagai tawanan.

⁴⁷Yet will I bring back the captivity of Moab in the latter days, saith Jehovah. Thus far is the judgment of Moab.

⁴⁷Tapi di kemudian hari Aku akan memulihkan keadaan negeri Moab. Aku, TUHAN, telah berbicara!" Itulah yang akan dilakukan TUHAN terhadap Moab.
