¹Then Job answered and said,

¹Tetapi Ayub berkata, "Alangkah mahirnya kauberi pertolongan kepadaku orang yang lemah dan kepayahan!

²How hast thou helped him that is without power! How hast thou saved the arm that hath no strength!

³How hast thou counselled him that hath no wisdom, And plentifully declared sound knowledge!

³Alangkah baiknya nasihat dan ajaran itu yang telah kauberikan kepadaku, orang yang dungu!

⁴To whom hast thou uttered words? And whose spirit came forth from thee?

⁴Kepada siapakah tuturmu itu tertuju? Siapa mengilhamimu untuk bicara seperti itu?"

⁵They that are deceased tremble Beneath the waters and the inhabitants thereof.

⁵Jawab Bildad, "Orang-orang di alam maut gemetar; air dan penghuninya bergeletar.

⁶Sheol is naked before [God], And Abaddon hath no covering.

⁶Di hadapan Allah, dunia orang mati terbuka, tak bertutup sehingga kelihatan oleh-Nya.

⁷He stretcheth out the north over empty space, And hangeth the earth upon nothing.

⁷Allah membentangkan langit, di atas samudra, dan menggantungkan bumi pada ruang hampa.

⁸He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; And the cloud is not rent under them.

⁸Dimuati-Nya awan dengan air berlimpah-limpah, namun awan itu tidak robek karena beratnya.

⁹He incloseth the face of his throne, And spreadeth his cloud upon it.

⁹Disembunyikan-Nya wajah bulan purnama di balik awan yang telah dibentangkan-Nya.

¹⁰He hath described a boundary upon the face of the waters, Unto the confines of light and darkness.

¹⁰Digambar-Nya lingkaran pada muka lautan untuk memisahkan terang dari kegelapan.

¹¹The pillars of heaven tremble And are astonished at his rebuke.

¹¹Bila Ia menghardik dengan suara menggelegar, tiang-tiang penyangga langit gemetar.

¹²He stirreth up the sea with his power, And by his understanding he smiteth through Rahab.

¹²Samudra ditaklukkan oleh kuasa-Nya dan Rahab pun dihajar oleh kemahiran-Nya.

¹³By his Spirit the heavens are garnished; His hand hath pierced the swift serpent.

¹³Napas-Nya menyapu langit hingga cerah sekali; tangan-Nya membunuh naga yang nyaris lari.

¹⁴Lo, these are but the outskirts of his ways: And how small a whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand?

¹⁴Tetapi semua itu hanya pertanda kuasa-Nya; hanya bisikan yang sampai di telinga kita. Betapa sedikit pengertian kita tentang Allah dan hebatnya kuasa-Nya!"
