¹And they came to the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gerasenes.

¹Kemudian Yesus dan pengikut-pengikut-Nya sampai di seberang Danau Galilea, di daerah Gerasa.

²And when he was come out of the boat, straightway there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,

²Begitu Yesus turun dari perahu, Ia didatangi seorang laki-laki yang keluar dari gua-gua kuburan.

³who had his dwelling in the tombs: and no man could any more bind him, no, not with a chain;

³Orang itu dikuasai roh jahat dan tinggal di kuburan-kuburan. Ia sudah tidak dapat diikat lagi; walaupun dengan rantai.

⁴because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been rent asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: and no man had strength to tame him.

⁴Sudah sering kaki dan tangannya dibelenggu, tetapi selalu rantai-rantai itu diputuskannya, dan besi pada kakinya dipatahkannya. Ia begitu kuat sehingga tidak seorang pun dapat menahannya.

⁵And always, night and day, in the tombs and in the mountains, he was crying out, and cutting himself with stones.

⁵Siang malam ia berkeliaran di kuburan dan di bukit-bukit, sambil berteriak-teriak dan melukai badannya dengan batu.

⁶And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshipped him;

⁶Ketika dari jauh ia melihat Yesus datang, ia berlari-lari lalu sujud di hadapan Yesus.

⁷and crying out with a loud voice, he saith, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the Most High God? I adjure thee by God, torment me not.

⁷Dengan suara yang keras ia berteriak, "Yesus, Anak Allah Yang Mahatinggi! Akan Kauapakan saya ini? Demi Allah, saya mohon, janganlah menyiksa saya!"

⁸For he said unto him, Come forth, thou unclean spirit, out of the man.

⁸9orang itu berkata begitu sebab Yesus berkata kepadanya, "Roh jahat, keluarlah dari orang ini!")

⁹And he asked him, What is thy name? And he saith unto him, My name is Legion; for we are many.

⁹Lalu Yesus bertanya kepadanya, "Siapakah namamu?" Orang itu menjawab, "Nama saya 'Legiun' --sebab kami ini banyak sekali!"

¹⁰And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

¹⁰Berulang kali ia minta dengan sangat supaya Yesus jangan menyuruh roh-roh jahat itu keluar dari daerah itu.

¹¹Now there was there on the mountain side a great herd of swine feeding.

¹¹Dekat tempat itu ada banyak sekali babi yang sedang mencari makan di lereng bukit.

¹²And they besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.

¹²Roh-roh jahat itu memohon kepada Yesus, "Suruhlah kami masuk ke dalam babi-babi itu."

¹³And he gave them leave. And the unclean spirits came out, and entered into the swine: and the herd rushed down the steep into the sea, [in number] about two thousand; and they were drowned in the sea.

¹³Dan Yesus setuju. Jadi, roh-roh jahat itu keluar dari orang itu lalu masuk ke dalam babi-babi itu. Seluruh kawanan babi itu lari dan terjun dari pinggir jurang ke dalam danau lalu tenggelam--semuanya ada kira-kira dua ribu babi.

¹⁴And they that fed them fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they came to see what it was that had come to pass.

¹⁴Penjaga-penjaga babi itu lari, dan menyiarkan kabar itu di kota dan di desa sekitarnya. Lalu orang-orang keluar untuk melihat apa yang telah terjadi.

¹⁵And they come to Jesus, and behold him that was possessed with demons sitting, clothed and in his right mind, [even] him that had the legion: and they were afraid.

¹⁵Mereka datang kepada Yesus, lalu melihat orang yang tadinya kemasukan roh jahat itu, sedang duduk di situ. Ia sudah berpakaian, dan pikirannya juga sudah waras. Maka mereka semua menjadi takut.

¹⁶And they that saw it declared unto them how it befell him that was possessed with demons, and concerning the swine.

¹⁶Orang-orang yang telah menyaksikan sendiri kejadian tentang orang itu dan babi-babi itu menceritakan apa yang telah terjadi.

¹⁷And they began to beseech him to depart from their borders.

¹⁷Lalu penduduk daerah itu minta supaya Yesus meninggalkan daerah itu.

¹⁸And as he was entering into the boat, he that had been possessed with demons besought him that he might be with him.

¹⁸Waktu Yesus naik ke dalam perahu, orang yang tadinya dikuasai roh jahat itu minta kepada Yesus, supaya boleh ikut.

¹⁹And he suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go to thy house unto thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and [how] he had mercy on thee.

¹⁹Tetapi Yesus tidak setuju, kata-Nya, "Pulanglah dan beritahukan kepada sanak saudaramu apa yang sudah dilakukan Tuhan untukmu dan betapa baiknya Ia terhadapmu!"

²⁰And he went his way, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men marvelled.

²⁰Orang itu pun pergi, dan mulai menceritakan di daerah Sepuluh Kota apa yang telah diperbuat Yesus kepadanya. Semua orang heran mendengarnya.

²¹And when Jesus had crossed over again in the boat unto the other side, a great multitude was gathered unto him; and he was by the sea.

²¹Yesus kembali lagi ke seberang danau. Di tepi danau itu, banyak orang datang berkerumun di sekeliling Yesus.

²²And there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and seeing him, he falleth at his feet,

²²Datanglah seorang yang bernama Yairus. Ia adalah seorang pemimpin rumah ibadat di kota itu. Ketika ia melihat Yesus, ia sujud di depan-Nya,

²³and beseecheth him much, saying, My little daughter is at the point of death: [I pray thee], that thou come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be made whole, and live.

²³dan minta dengan sangat, "Pak, anak perempuan saya sakit parah. Sudilah datang untuk menjamahnya, supaya ia sembuh dan jangan mati!"

²⁴And he went with him; and a great multitude followed him, and they thronged him.

²⁴Maka Yesus pun pergi bersama Yairus. Banyak orang mengikuti Dia dan mendesak-Nya dari semua jurusan.

²⁵And a woman, who had an issue of blood twelve years,

²⁵Di antaranya ada pula seorang wanita yang telah dua belas tahun sakit pendarahan yang berhubungan dengan haidnya.

²⁶and had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,

²⁶Semua kekayaannya sudah habis dipakai untuk membayar dokter-dokter, tetapi tidak ada yang dapat menyembuhkannya, malahan penyakitnya terus bertambah parah.

²⁷having heard the things concerning Jesus, came in the crowd behind, and touched his garment.

²⁷Wanita itu sudah mendengar banyak tentang Yesus. Maka di tengah-tengah orang banyak itu, ia mendekati Yesus dari belakang,

²⁸For she said, If I touch but his garments, I shall be made whole.

²⁸karena ia berpikir, "Asal saja saya menyentuh jubah-Nya, saya akan sembuh!"

²⁹And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her plague.

²⁹Ia menyentuh jubah Yesus, dan seketika itu juga pendarahannya berhenti. Ia merasa bahwa ia sudah sembuh.

³⁰And straightway Jesus, perceiving in himself that the power [proceeding] from him had gone forth, turned him about in the crowd, and said, Who touched my garments?

³⁰Pada saat itu juga Yesus merasa bahwa ada kekuatan yang keluar dari diri-Nya. Maka Ia menoleh kepada orang banyak itu dan bertanya, "Siapa yang menyentuh jubah-Ku?"

³¹And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

³¹Pengikut-pengikut-Nya berkata, "Bapak lihat sendiri ada begitu banyak orang yang berdesak-desakan. Dan Bapak masih bertanya, siapa yang menyentuh Bapak?"

³²And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.

³²Tetapi Yesus terus saja melihat ke sekeliling-Nya untuk mencari orang yang telah menyentuh-Nya.

³³But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what had been done to her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.

³³Wanita itu yang tahu apa yang telah terjadi dengan dirinya, dengan gemetar dan ketakutan sujud di depan Yesus dan mengakui semuanya.

³⁴And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.

³⁴Lalu Yesus berkata kepada wanita itu, "Anak-Ku, karena engkau percaya kepada-Ku, engkau sembuh! Pergilah dengan selamat. Engkau sudah sehat sama sekali!"

³⁵While he yet spake, they come from the ruler of the synagogue's [house] saying, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Teacher any further?

³⁵Sementara Yesus masih berbicara, beberapa pesuruh datang dari rumah Yairus. "Putri Tuan sudah meninggal," kata mereka kepada Yairus. "Tak usah Tuan menyusahkan Bapak Guru lagi."

³⁶But Jesus, not heeding the word spoken, saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Fear not, only believe.

³⁶Tanpa mempedulikan apa yang dikatakan orang-orang itu, Yesus berkata kepada Yairus, "Jangan takut, percaya saja!"

³⁷And he suffered no man to follow with him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.

³⁷Lalu Yesus berjalan terus, tetapi Dia tidak mengizinkan seorang pun mengikuti-Nya, kecuali Petrus serta Yakobus dan Yohanes bersaudara.

³⁸And they come to the house of the ruler of the synagogue; and he beholdeth a tumult, and [many] weeping and wailing greatly.

³⁸Ketika mereka tiba di rumah Yairus, Yesus melihat keadaan hiruk-pikuk, dan mendengar tangisan dan ratapan yang keras.

³⁹And when he was entered in, he saith unto them, Why make ye a tumult, and weep? the child is not dead, but sleepeth.

³⁹Lalu Yesus masuk dan berkata kepada mereka, "Mengapa ribut-ribut dan menangis? Anak itu tidak mati; ia hanya tidur!"

⁴⁰And they laughed him to scorn. But he, having put them all forth, taketh the father of the child and her mother and them that were with him, and goeth in where the child was.

⁴⁰Mereka menertawakan Yesus. Maka Ia menyuruh mereka semua keluar. Lalu Ia membawa ibu bapak anak itu dan ketiga pengikut-Nya masuk ke dalam kamar anak itu.

⁴¹And taking the child by the hand, he saith unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, Arise.

⁴¹Yesus memegang tangan anak itu lalu berkata kepadanya, "Talita kum," yang berarti, "Anak perempuan, Aku berkata kepadamu: bangun!"

⁴²And straightway the damsel rose up, and walked; for she was twelve years old. And they were amazed straightway with a great amazement.

⁴²Anak gadis itu segera bangun, dan berjalan. (Umurnya sudah dua belas tahun.) Semua yang menyaksikan kejadian itu sangat kagum!

⁴³And he charged them much that no man should know this: and he commanded that [something] should be given her to eat.

⁴³Tetapi Yesus dengan keras melarang mereka memberitahukan hal itu kepada siapa pun. Lalu kata-Nya, "Berilah anak itu makan."
