¹Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Moab, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime:

¹主はこう言われる、「モアブの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼がエドムの王の骨を焼いて灰にしたからである。

²but I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth; and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet;

²それゆえ、わたしはモアブに火を送り、ケリオテのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす。モアブは騒ぎと、ときの声と、ラッパの音の中に死ぬ。

³and I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith Jehovah.

³わたしはそのうちから、支配者を断ち、そのすべてのつかさを彼と共に殺す」と主は言われる。

⁴Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Judah, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have rejected the law of Jehovah, and have not kept his statutes, and their lies have caused them to err, after which their fathers did walk:

⁴主はこう言われる、「ユダの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼らが主の律法を捨て、その定めを守らず、その先祖たちが従い歩いた偽りの物に惑わされたからである。

⁵but I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.

⁵それゆえ、わたしはユダに火を送り、エルサレムのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす」。

⁶Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Israel, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have sold the righteous for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes-

⁶主はこう言われる、「イスラエルの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼らが正しい者を金のために売り、貧しい者をくつ一足のために売るからである。

⁷they that pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father go unto the [same] maiden, to profane my holy name:

⁷彼らは弱い者の頭を地のちりに踏みつけ、苦しむ者の道をまげ、また父子ともにひとりの女のところへ行って、わが聖なる名を汚す。

⁸and they lay themselves down beside every altar upon clothes taken in pledge; and in the house of their God they drink the wine of such as have been fined.

⁸彼らはすべての祭壇のかたわらに質に取った衣服を敷いて、その上に伏し、罰金をもって得た酒を、その神の家で飲む。

⁹Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.

⁹さきにわたしはアモリびとを彼らの前から滅ぼした。これはその高きこと、香柏のごとく、その強きこと、かしの木のようであったが、わたしはその上の実と、下の根とを滅ぼした。

¹⁰Also I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and led you forty years in the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.

¹⁰わたしはまた、あなたがたをエジプトの地から連れ上り、四十年のあいだ荒野で、あなたがたを導き、アモリびとの地を獲させた。

¹¹And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazirites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith Jehovah.

¹¹わたしはあなたがたの子らのうちから預言者を起し、あなたがたの若者のうちからナジルびとを起した。イスラエルの人々よ、そうではないか」と主は言われる。

¹²But ye gave the Nazirites wine to drink, and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.

¹²「ところがあなたがたはナジルびとに酒を飲ませ、預言者に命じて『預言するな』と言う。

¹³Behold, I will press [you] in your place, as a cart presseth that is full of sheaves.

¹³見よ、わたしは麦束をいっぱい積んだ車が物を圧するように、あなたがたをその所で圧する。

¹⁴And flight shall perish from the swift; and the strong shall not strengthen his force; neither shall the mighty deliver himself;

¹⁴速く走る者も逃げ場を失い、強い者もその力をふるうことができず、勇士もその命を救うことができない。

¹⁵neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver [himself]; neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself;

¹⁵弓をとる者も立つことができず、足早の者も自分を救うことができず、馬に乗る者もその命を救うことができない。勇士のうちの雄々しい心の者もその日には裸で逃げる」と主は言われる。

¹⁶and he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, saith Jehovah.
