¹The word that came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,

¹主からエレミヤに臨んだ言葉。

²Thus speaketh Jehovah, the God of Israel, saying, Write thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book.

²「イスラエルの神、主はこう仰せられる、わたしがあなたに語った言葉を、ことごとく書物にしるしなさい。

³For, lo, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will turn again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, saith Jehovah; and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.

³主は言われる、見よ、わたしがわが民イスラエルとユダの繁栄を回復する日が来る。主がこれを言われる。わたしは彼らを、その先祖に与えた地に帰らせ、彼らにこれを保たせる」。

⁴And these are the words that Jehovah spake concerning Israel and concerning Judah.

⁵For thus saith Jehovah: We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace.

⁵「主はこう仰せられる、われわれはおののきの声を聞いた。恐れがあり、平安はない。

⁶Ask ye now, and see whether a man doth travail with child: wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness?

⁶子を産む男があるか、尋ねてみよ。どうして男がみな子を産む女のように手を腰におくのをわたしは見るのか。なぜ、どの人の顔色も青く変っているのか。

⁷Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.

⁷悲しいかな、その日は大いなる日であって、それに比べるべき日はない。それはヤコブの悩みの時である。しかし彼はそれから救い出される。

⁸And it shall come to pass in that day, saith Jehovah of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds; and strangers shall no more make him their bondman;

⁸万軍の主は仰せられる、その日わたしは彼らの首からそのくびきを砕き離し、彼らの束縛を解く。異邦の人はもはや、彼らを使役することをしない。

⁹but they shall serve Jehovah their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them.

⁹彼らはその神、主と、わたしが彼らのために立てるその王ダビデに仕える。

¹⁰Therefore fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, saith Jehovah; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be quiet and at ease, and none shall make him afraid.

¹⁰主は仰せられる、わがしもべヤコブよ、恐れることはない、イスラエルよ、驚くことはない。見よ、わたしがあなたを救って、遠くからかえし、あなたの子孫を救って、その捕え移された地からかえすからだ。ヤコブは帰ってきて、穏やかに安らかにおり、彼を恐れさせる者はない。

¹¹For I am with thee, saith Jehovah, to save thee: for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have scattered thee, but I will not make a full end of thee; but I will correct thee in measure, and will in no wise leave thee unpunished.

¹¹主は言われる、わたしはあなたと共にいて、あなたを救う。わたしはあなたを散らした国々をことごとく滅ぼし尽す。しかし、あなたを滅ぼし尽すことはしない。わたしは正しい道に従ってあなたを懲らしめる。決して罰しないではおかない。

¹²For thus saith Jehovah, Thy hurt is incurable, and thy wound grievous.

¹²主はこう仰せられる、あなたの痛みはいえず、あなたの傷は重い。

¹³There is none to plead thy cause, that thou mayest be bound up: thou hast no healing medicines.

¹³あなたの訴えを支持する者はなく、あなたの傷をつつむ薬はなく、あなたをいやすものもない。

¹⁴All thy lovers have forgotten thee; they seek thee not: for I have wounded thee with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the greatness of thine iniquity, because thy sins were increased.

¹⁴あなたの愛する者は皆あなたを忘れてあなたの事を心に留めない。それは、あなたのとがが多く、あなたの罪がはなはだしいので、わたしがあだを撃つようにあなたを撃ち、残忍な敵のように懲らしたからだ。

¹⁵Why criest thou for thy hurt? thy pain is incurable: for the greatness of thine iniquity, because thy sins were increased, I have done these things unto thee.

¹⁵なぜ、あなたの傷のために叫ぶのか、あなたの悩みはいえることはない。あなたのとがが多く、あなたの罪がはなはだしいので、これらの事をわたしはあなたにしたのである。

¹⁶Therefore all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that despoil thee shall be a spoil, and all that prey upon thee will I give for a prey.

¹⁶しかし、すべてあなたを食い滅ぼす者は食い滅ぼされ、あなたをしえたげる者は、ひとり残らず、捕え移され、あなたをかすめる者は、かすめられ、すべてあなたの物を奪う者は奪われる者となる。

¹⁷For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith Jehovah; because they have called thee an outcast, [saying], It is Zion, whom no man seeketh after.

¹⁷主は言われる、わたしはあなたの健康を回復させ、あなたの傷をいやす。それは、人があなたを捨てられた者とよび、『だれも心に留めないシオン』というからである。

¹⁸Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will turn again the captivity of Jacob's tents, and have compassion on his dwelling-places; and the city shall be builded upon its own hill, and the palace shall be inhabited after its own manner.

¹⁸主はこう仰せられる、見よ、わたしはヤコブの天幕を再び栄えさせ、そのすまいにあわれみを施す。町は、その丘に建てなおされ、宮殿はもと立っていた所に立つ。

¹⁹And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.

¹⁹感謝の歌と喜ぶ者の声とが、その中から出る。わたしが彼らを増すゆえ、彼らは少なくはなく、また彼らを尊ばれしめるゆえ、卑しめられることはない。

²⁰Their children also shall be as aforetime, and their congregation shall be established before me; and I will punish all that oppress them.

²⁰その子らは、いにしえのようになり、その会衆はわたしの前に堅く立つ。すべて彼らをしえたげる者をわたしは罰する。

²¹And their prince shall be of themselves, and their ruler shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me: for who is he that hath had boldness to approach unto me? saith Jehovah.

²¹その君は彼ら自身のうちのひとりであり、そのつかさは、そのうちから出る。わたしは彼をわたしに近づけ、彼はわたしに近づく。だれか自分の命をかけてわたしに近づく者があろうかと主は言われる。

²²And ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

²²あなたがたは、わたしの民となり、わたしはあなたがたの神となる」。

²³Behold, the tempest of Jehovah, [even his] wrath, is gone forth, a sweeping tempest: it shall burst upon the head of the wicked.

²³見よ、主の暴風がくる。憤りと、つむじ風が出て、悪人のこうべをうつ。主の激しい怒りは、み心に思い定められたことを行って、これを遂げるまで、退くことはない。末の日にあなたがたはこれを悟るのである。

²⁴The fierce anger of Jehovah shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the intents of his heart: in the latter days ye shall understand it.
