¹Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation that hath no shame;

¹あなたがた、恥を知らぬ民よ、共につどい、集まれ。

²before the decree bring forth, [before] the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of Jehovah come upon you, before the day of Jehovah's anger come upon you.

²すなわち、もみがらのように追いやられる前に、主の激しい怒りがまだあなたがたに臨まない前に、主の憤りの日がまだあなたがたに来ない前に。

³Seek ye Jehovah, all ye meek of the earth, that have kept his ordinances; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye will be hid in the day of Jehovah's anger.

³すべて主の命令を行うこの地のへりくだる者よ、主を求めよ。正義を求めよ。謙遜を求めよ。そうすればあなたがたは主の怒りの日に、あるいは隠されることがあろう。

⁴For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation; they shall drive out Ashdod at noonday, and Ekron shall be rooted up.

⁴ともあれ、ガザは捨てられ、アシケロンは荒れはて、アシドドは真昼に追い払われ、エクロンは抜き去られる。

⁵Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea-coast, the nation of the Cherethites! The word of Jehovah is against you, O Canaan, the land of the Philistines; I will destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.

⁵わざわいなるかな、海べに住む者、ケレテの国民。ペリシテびとの地、カナンよ、主の言葉があなたがたに臨む。わたしはあなたを滅ぼして、住む者がないようにする。

⁶And the sea-coast shall be pastures, with cottages for shepherds and folds for flocks.

⁶海べよ、あなたは牧場となり、羊飼の牧草地となり、また羊のおりとなる。

⁷And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed [their flocks] thereupon; in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening; for Jehovah their God will visit them, and bring back their captivity.

⁷海べはユダの家の残りの者に帰する。彼らはその所で群れを養い、夕暮にはアシケロンの家に伏す。彼らの神、主が彼らを顧み、その幸福を回復されるからである。

⁸I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, wherewith they have reproached my people, and magnified themselves against their border.

⁸「わたしはモアブのあざけりと、アンモンの人々の、ののしりを聞いた。彼らはわが民をあざけり、自ら誇って彼らの国境を侵した。

⁹Therefore as I live, saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, a possession of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall make a prey of them, and the remnant of my nation shall inherit them.

⁹それゆえ、万軍の主、イスラエルの神は言われる、わたしは生きている。モアブは必ずソドムのようになる。アンモンの人々はゴモラのようになる。いらくさと塩穴とがここを占領して、永遠に荒れ地となる。わが民の残りの者は彼らをかすめ、わが国民の残りの者はこれを所有する」。

¹⁰This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of Jehovah of hosts.

¹⁰この事の彼らに臨むのはその高ぶりによるのだ。彼らが万軍の主の民をあざけり、みずから誇ったからである。

¹¹Jehovah will be terrible unto them; for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the nations.

¹¹主は彼らに対して恐るべき者となられる。主は地のすべての神々を飢えさせられる。もろもろの国の民は、おのおの自分の所から出て主を拝む。

¹²Ye Ethiopians also, ye shall be slain by my sword.

¹²エチオピヤびとよ、あなたがたもまたわがつるぎによって殺される。

¹³And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria, and will make Nineveh a desolation, and dry like the wilderness.

¹³主はまた北に向かって手を伸べ、アッスリヤを滅ぼし、ニネベを荒して、荒野のような、かわいた地とされる。

¹⁴And herds shall lie down in the midst of her, all the beasts of the nations: both the pelican and the porcupine shall lodge in the capitals thereof; [their] voice shall sing in the windows; desolation shall be in the thresholds: for he hath laid bare the cedar-work.

¹⁴家畜の群れ、もろもろの野の獣はその中に伏し、はげたかや、やまあらしはその柱の頂に住み、ふくろうは、その窓のうちになき、からすは、その敷居の上に鳴く。その香柏の細工が裸にされるからである。この町は勝ち誇って、安らかに落ち着き、その心の中で、「ただわたしだけだ、わたしの外にはだれもない」と言った町であるが、このように荒れはてて、獣の伏す所になってしまった。ここを通り過ぎる者は皆あざけって、手を振る。

¹⁵This is the joyous city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none besides me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.

¹⁵この町は勝ち誇って、安らかに落ち着き、その心の中で、「ただわたしだけだ、わたしの外にはだれもない」と言った町であるが、このように荒れはてて、獣の伏す所になってしまった。ここを通り過ぎる者は皆あざけって、手を振る。
