¹Now [there was] a certain man in Caesarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of the band called the Italian [band],

¹ကဲသရိမြို့၌ ဣတလိတပ်ဟု ခေါ်ဝေါ်သော တပ်တွင် လူတရာ ကိုအုပ်ချုပ်သော တပ်မှူးကော်နေလိ အမည် တွင်သော သူတယောက်ရှိ ၏။

²a devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, who gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always.

²ထိုသူသည် မိမိအိမ်တွင်ရှိသမျှသော သူတို့နှင့်တကွ ဘုရားဝတ်၌ မွေ့လျော်၍ ဘုရားသခင်ကို ကြောက်ရွံ့ခြင်းရှိသဖြင့် လူတို့အားများစွာသော စွန့်ကြဲ ခြင်းကိုပြု၍ ဘုရားသခင်ကို အစဉ်ဆုတောင်းလေ့ရှိ၏။

³He saw in a vision openly, as it were about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming in unto him, and saying to him, Cornelius.

³တနေ့သ၌ နေသုံးချက်တီးအချိန်တွင် ဘုရား သခင်၏ ကောင်းကင်တမန်သည်၊ ကော်နေလိဟု ခေါ်လျက် ရောက်လာသည်ကို ထိုသူသည် ထင်ရှားသော ဗျာဒိတ်ရူပါရုံအားဖြင့် မြင်ရ၏။

⁴And he, fastening his eyes upon him, and being affrighted, said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are gone up for a memorial before God.

⁴ကောင်းကင်တမန်ကို စေ့စေ့ကြည့်လျှင် ထိတ်လန့်ခြင်းရှိသည် ဖြစ်၍၊ သခင်၊ အဘယ်အခင်းရှိပါ သနည်းဟု မေးသော်၊ ကောင်းကင် တမန်က၊ သင်ပြု သောဆုတောင်းပဌနာနှင့် စွန့်ကြဲပေးကမ်းခြင်းတို့သည် ဘုရားသခင့်ရှေ့တော်၌ အောက်မေ့စရာဘို့တက်ကြပြီ။

⁵And now send men to Joppa, and fetch one Simon, who is surnamed Peter:

⁵ထိုကြောင့် ယခုပင်ယုပွေမြို့သို့ လူတို့ကိုစေလွှတ်၍၊ ပေတရု အမည်သစ်ကိုရသော ရှိမုန်ကိုခေါ်ပင့်လော့။

⁶he lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side.

⁶ထိုသူသည်သားရေလုပ်သမားရှိမုန်၏ အိမ်၌ တည်းနေ၏။ ထိုအိမ်သည် ပင်လယ်နားမှာ ရှိသည်ဟု ပြောဆို၏။

⁷And when the angel that spake unto him was departed, he called two of his household-servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;

⁷ထိုသို့ပြောဆိုသော ကောင်းကင်တမန်သွားပြီးမှ၊ ကော်နေလိသည် မိမိငယ်သားနှစ်ယောက်နှင့်တကွ မိမိထံ၌ မပြတ်ခစားသောလူစု အဝင်၊ ဘုရားဝတ်၌ မွေ့လျော်သော စစ်သူရဲတယောက်ကိုခေါ်၍၊

⁸and having rehearsed all things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.

⁸ထိုအကြောင်းအရာအလုံးစုံတို့ကို ကြားပြောပြီးမှ ယုပွေမြို့သို့ စေလွှတ်၏။

⁹Now on the morrow, as they were on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour:

⁹နက်ဖြန်နေ့၌ ထိုသူတို့သည် သွား၍ ယုပွေမြို့ အနီးသို့ ရောက်ကြသောအခါ၊ နှစ်ချက်တီးအချိန်တွင် ပေတရုသည် ဆုတောင်းခြင်း ငှါအိမ်မိုးပေါ်သို့ တက်လေ ၏။

¹⁰and he became hungry, and desired to eat: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance;

¹⁰ဆာမွတ်၍ အစာအာဟာရကို အလိုရှိလျှင် သူတပါးတို့သည် အစာအာဟာရကို ပြင်ဆင်ကြစဉ်အခါ ပေတရုသည် ဘဝင်ဖြစ်၍ နေသဖြင့်၊

¹¹and he beholdeth the heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending, as it were a great sheet, let down by four corners upon the earth:

¹¹ကောင်းကင်ဖွင့်လှစ်သည်ကို၎င်း၊ ခြုံထည်ကဲ့သို့ လေးထောင့် ချုပ်၍ မြေသို့ချလွှတ်သော တန်ဆာသည် မိမိဆီသို့ဆင်းသက်လာသည် ကို၎င်းမြင်လေ၏။

¹²wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts and creeping things of the earth and birds of the heaven.

¹²ထိုတန်ဆာထဲ၌ သားရဲမှစ၍မြေ၌ကျင်လည် သောသားမျိုး၊ တွားတတ်သော တိရစ္ဆာန်မျိုး၊ မိုဃ်း ကောင်းကင်၌ ကျင်လည်သော ငှက်မျိုး တို့သည်ရှိကြ၏။

¹³And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill and eat.

¹³စကားအသံသည်လည်း၊ ပေတရုထ၍ သတ်စား လော့ဟု လာ၏။

¹⁴But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common and unclean.

¹⁴ပေတရုကလည်း၊ မဖြစ်နိုင်ပါသခင်။ ညစ်ညူး သောအရာနှင့် မစင်ကြယ်သောအရာကို အကျွန်ုပ်သည် တရံတခါမျှ မစားဘူးပါဟု ပြောဆို၏။

¹⁵And a voice [came] unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, make not thou common.

¹⁵နောက်တဖန် စကားသံကား၊ ဘုရားသခင် စင်ကြယ်စေတော် မူသောအရာကို ညစ်ညူးသည်မထင် နှင့်ဟု လာပြန်၏။

¹⁶And this was done thrice: and straightway the vessel was received up into heaven.

¹⁶ထိုသို့ သုံးကြိမ်မြောက်အောင်လာပြီးလျှင်၊ ထိုတန်ဆာကို ကောင်းကင်ထဲသို့ သိမ်းရုပ်ပြန်လေ၏။

¹⁷Now while Peter was much perplexed in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men that were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon's house, stood before the gate,

¹⁷ပေတရုသည် မိမိမြင်ရသော ဗျာဒိတ်ရူပါရုံ ကား၊ အဘယ်သို့ ဆိုလိုသနည်းဟု တွေးတောဆင်ခြင်၍ နေစဉ်တွင်၊ ကော်နေလိစေလွှတ် သောသူတို့သည် ရှိမုန်အိမ်ကို မေးမြန်းရှာဖွေ၍ တံခါးရှေ့မှာရပ်လျက်၊

¹⁸and called and asked whether Simon, who was surnamed Peter, were lodging there.

¹⁸ပေတရုအမည်သစ်ကိုရသော ရှိမုန်သည် ဤမှာတည်းနေပါ သလောဟု မေးမြန်းဟစ်ခေါ်ကြ၏။

¹⁹And while Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.

¹⁹ပေတရုသည်ထိုဗျာဒိတ်ရူပါရုကို ဆင်ခြင်၍နေစဉ်တွင် ဝိညာဉ်တော်က၊ လူသုံးယောက်တို့သည် သင့်ကိုရှာကြ၏။

²⁰But arise, and get thee down, and go with them, nothing doubting: for I have sent them.

²⁰ထ၍ဆင်းလော့။ တွေးတောခြင်းမရှိဘဲ ထိုသူတို့နှင့်အတူ လိုက်သွားလော့။ အကြောင်းမူကား၊ ထိုသူတို့သည် ငါစေလွှတ်သော သူဖြစ်ကြသည်ဟု မိန့်တော်မူလျှင်၊

²¹And Peter went down to the men, and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?

²¹ပေတရုသည်ဆင်း၍၊ ငါကား၊ သင်တို့ရှာသော သူဖြစ်၏။ အဘယ်အကြောင်းရှိ၍ လာကြသနည်းဟု ထိုသူတို့အားမေး၏။

²²And they said, Cornelius a centurion, a righteous man and one that feareth God, and well reported of by all the nation of the Jews, was warned [of God] by a holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words from thee.

²²ထိုသူတို့ကလည်း ဘုရားသခင်ကိုကြောက်ရွံ့၍၊ ယုဒလူ အပေါင်းတို့တွင် အသရေရှိသော သူတော်ကောင်း တည်းဟူသော တပ်မှူး ကော်နေလိသည်၊ ကိုယ်တော်ကို မိမိအိမ်သို့ခေါ်ပင့်၍ ကိုယ်တော်၏ စကားကို နားထောင် ရမည်အကြောင်း၊ သန့်ရှင်းသော ကောင်းကင်တမန် အားဖြင့် ဗျာဒိတ်တော်ကို ခံရပါသည်ဟု ပြန်ပြောကြ၏။

²³So he called them in and lodged them. And on the morrow he arose and went forth with them, and certain of the brethren from Joppa accompanied him.

²³ပေတရုသည်လည်းထိုသူတို့ကို အိမ်ထဲသို့ခေါ်၍ ဧည့်သည်ဝတ် ကိုပြုလေ၏။ နက်ဖြန်နေ့၌ထ၍ ထိုသူတို့ နှင့်အတူ သွားသဖြင့်၊ ယုပွေ မြို့သားဖြစ်သော ညီအစ်ကို အချို့တို့သည် လိုက်ကြ၏။

²⁴And on the morrow they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his kinsmen and his near friends.

²⁴ထိုနောက်တနေ့၌ ကဲသရိမြို့သို့ဝင်ကြ၍၊ ကော်နေလိသည် မိမိ အဆွေအမျိုး မိတ်ခင်ပွန်းများတို့ကို စုဝေးစေပြီးလျှင်၊ ထိုသူတို့ကို မြော်လင့်လျက်နေကြ၏။

²⁵And when it came to pass that Peter entered, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.

²⁵ပေတရုရောက်လာသောအခါ ကော်နေလိသည် ခရီးဦးကြိုပြု၍၊ ပေတရု၏ခြေရင်း၌ပြပ်ဝပ်လျက် ကိုးကွယ်လေ၏။

²⁶But Peter raised him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

²⁶ပေတရုသည် သူ့ကိုချီပင့်လျက်၊ ထလော့။ ငါကိုယ်တိုင် လူဖြစ်သည်ဟုဆို၏။

²⁷And as he talked with him, he went in, and findeth many come together:

²⁷ထိုသို့နှုတ်ဆက်၍ ဝင်လေသော် စုဝေးလျက်ရှိ ကြသော လူများကိုတွေ့လျှင်၊

²⁸and he said unto them, Ye yourselves know how it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to join himself or come unto one of another nation; and [yet] unto me hath God showed that I should not call any man common or unclean:

²⁸ပေတရုက၊ ယုဒလူဖြစ်သောသူတို့သည် တပါး အမျိုးသားတို့နှင့် မပေါင်းတော် မချည်းကပ်အပ်သည်ကို သင်တို့သိကြ၏။ သို့သော်လည်း ညစ်ညူးသည် မစင်ကြယ် ဟု အဘယ်သူကိုမျှ မခေါ်ရမည်အကြောင်း၊ ဘုရားသခင် သည်၊ ငါ့အားဆုံးမပြသတော်မူပြီ။

²⁹wherefore also I came without gainsaying, when I was sent for. I ask therefore with what intent ye sent for me.

²⁹ထိုကြောင့်ငါ့ကိုခေါ်ကြသောအခါ ငါသည် မငြင်းမခုံဘဲလျက် လာ၏။ သို့ဖြစ်၍ အဘယ်အကြောင်း ကြောင့် ငါ့ကိုခေါ်ကြသနည်း၊ ငါမေးလိုသည်ဟု ထိုသူတို့ အားပြောဆို၏။

³⁰And Cornelius said, Four days ago, until this hour, I was keeping the ninth hour of prayer in my house; and behold, a man stood before me in bright apparel,

³⁰ကော်နေလိကလည်း၊ အကျွန်ုပ်သည် ယခု အချိန် နာရီတိုင်အောင် အစာရှောင်၍ သုံးချက်တီး အချိန်တွင် အိမ်၌ဆုတောင်းလျက် နေသည်၊ ယခု လေးရက်ရှိပါပြီ။ ထိုအချိန်၌ လူတယောက်သည် ထွန်းတောက်သောအဝတ်ကို ဝတ်လျက် အကျွန်ုပ် ရှေ့မှောက်၌ရပ်၍၊

³¹and saith, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

³¹ကော်နေလိ၊ သင်ပြုသောပဌနာကို ဘုရားသခင်သည် ကြား၍၊ သင်စွန့်ကြဲခြင်းကိုလည်း မှတ်တော်မူပြီ။

³²Send therefore to Joppa, and call unto thee Simon, who is surnamed Peter; he lodgeth in the house of Simon a tanner, by the sea side.

³²ထိုကြောင့်ယုပွေမြို့သို့စေလွှတ်၍ ပေတရု အမည်သစ်ကို ရသော ရှိမုန်ကို ခေါ်ပင့်လော့။ ထိုသူသည် ပင်လယ်နားမှာ သားရေလုပ် သမားရှိမုန်၏ အိမ်၌တည်း နေ၏။ ထိုသူသည်ရောက်လာလျှင် သင့်အား ဟောပြော လိမ့်မည်ဟုပြောဆိုပါ၏။

³³Forthwith therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore we are all here present in the sight of God, to hear all things that have been commanded thee of the Lord.

³³ထိုကြောင့် အကျွန်ုပ်သည် ကိုယ်တော်ထံသို့ အလျင်အမြန် စေလွှတ်၍၊ ကိုယ်တော်သည် ကြွလာသော အားဖြင့် ကောင်းမွန်စွာပြုပါ ပြီ။ သို့ဖြစ်၍ ဘုရားသခင် သည် ကိုယ်တော်၌မှာထားတော်မူသမျှကို နားထောင် ခြင်းငှါ၊ ယခုအကျွန်ုပ်တို့ရှိသမျှသည် ဘုရားသခင် ရှေ့တော်၌ အသင့်နေကြပါသည်ဟု ကော်နေလိ ပြောဆို၏။

³⁴And Peter opened his mouth and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

³⁴ထိုအခါပေတရုသည် နှုတ်ကိုဖွင့်၍၊ အကယ် စင်စစ် ဘုရား သခင်သည် လူမျက်နှာကို မှတ်တော်မမူ။

³⁵but in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is acceptable to him.

³⁵လူအမျိုးမျိုးတို့တွင် ဘုရားသခင်ကို ကြောက်ရွံ့ ၍ တရားသဖြင့် ကျင့်ဆောင်သောသူသည် အထံတော်၌ မျက်နှာရသည်ကို ငါသိမြင်၏။

³⁶The word which he sent unto the children of Israel, preaching good tidings of peace by Jesus Christ (He is Lord of all.) --

³⁶အလုံးစုံတို့ကို အစိုးရတော်မူသော သခင်ယေရှု ခရစ်အားဖြင့် ရန်ငြိမ်းခြင်းတရားတည်းဟူသော ဧဝံ ဂေလိတရားကို ဟောတော်မူလျက်၊ ဣသရေလ အမျိုး သား တို့အား ပေးလိုက်တော်မူသော တရားတော်နှင့် အညီ၊

³⁷that saying ye yourselves know, which was published throughout all Judaea, beginning from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;

³⁷ယောဟန်သည် ဗတ္တိဇံတရားကို ဟောသည် နောက် ဂါလိလဲ ပြည်မှစ၍ ယုဒပြည်အရပ်ရပ်တို့၌ နှံ့ပြားသော အကြောင်းအရာကို သင်တို့သည် သိကြ၏။

³⁸[even] Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

³⁸ထိုအကြောင်းအရာဟူမူကား၊ ဘုရားသခင်သည် သန့်ရှင်းသော ဝိညာဉ်တော်နှင့်၎င်း၊ တန်ခိုးတော်နှင့်၎င်း၊ နာဇရက်မြို့သား ယေရှုကို ဘိသိက်ပေးတော်မူသဖြင့်၊ ထိုသူသည် ဘုရားသခင်၏ အခွင့်တော်နှင့် ကျေးဇူးပြုလျက်၊ မာရ်နတ်ညှဉ်းဆဲသော သူအပေါင်းတို့အား ချမ်းသာကို ပေးလျက် လှည့်လည်တော်မူ၏။

³⁹And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the country of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom also they slew, hanging him on a tree.

³⁹ငါတို့သည်လည်း၊ ယေရုရှလင်မြို့မှစ၍ ယုဒ ပြည်တွင်ပြုတော် မူသောအမှုများတို့၏ သက်သေခံ ဖြစ်ကြ၏။ ထိုသူကိုသစ်တိုင်၌ ဆွဲ၍ ကွပ်မျက်ကြလေ၏။

⁴⁰Him God raised up the third day, and gave him to be made manifest,

⁴⁰သုံးရက်မြောက်သောနေ့၌ ဘုရားသခင်သည် ထမြောက် စေတော်မူ၍၊

⁴¹not to all the people, but unto witnesses that were chosen before of God, [even] to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.

⁴¹လူအပေါင်းတို့အား ထင်ရှားစွာပြတော်မမူ၊ ဘုရားသခင်ခန့် ထားတော်မူနှင့်သော သက်သေခံတည်း ဟူသော ငါတို့အား ထင်ရှားစွာ ပြတော်မူ၏။ သေခြင်းမှ ထမြောက်တော်မူသည်နောက်၊ ထိုသခင်နှင့် အတူ ငါတို့သည်စားသောက်ရကြ၏။

⁴²And he charged us to preach unto the people, and to testify that this is he who is ordained of God [to be] the Judge of the living and the dead.

⁴²ထိုသခင်သည်လည်း အသက်ရှင်သောသူတို့နှင့် သေသော သူတို့ကို တရားစီရင်သောသခင်ဖြစ်စေခြင်းငှါ၊ ဘုရားသခင်ခန့်ထားတော် မူကြောင်းကို လူအပေါင်းတို့အား ဟောပြောကြလော့။ သက်သေခံကြ လော့ဟု ငါတို့အားပညတ်ထားတော်မူ၏။

⁴³To him bear all the prophets witness, that through his name every one that believeth on him shall receive remission of sins.

⁴³ထိုသခင်ကို ယုံကြည်သောသူရှိသမျှတို့သည် နာမတော် အားဖြင့် အပြစ်လွှတ်တော်မူခြင်း ကျေးဇူးကို ခံရကြလတံ့ဟူ၍ မရောဖက် အပေါင်းတို့သည် ထိုသခင် ၏ သက်သေခံဖြစ်ကြသည်ဟု ပေတရုမြွက် ဆို၏။

⁴⁴While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all them that heard the word.

⁴⁴ထိုစကားကို မြွက်ဆိုစဉ်၊ နှုတ်ကပတ်တရား တော်ကို ကြားနာရသော သူအပေါင်းတို့အပေါ်သို့ သန့်ရှင်းသောဝိညာဉ်တော်သည် သက်ရောက်တော်မူ၏။

⁴⁵And they of the circumcision that believed were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Spirit.

⁴⁵တပါးအမျိုးသားတို့ အပေါ်သို့သန့်ရှင်းသော ဝိညာဉ်တော်၏ ကျေးဇူးကိုသွန်းလောင်းသောကြောင့်၊ အရေဖျားလှီးခြင်းကို ခံသောသူ တည်းဟူသော ပေတရု နှင့် ပါသမျှသော တပည့်တော်တို့သည် မိန်းမော တွေဝေခြင်းရှိကြ၏။

⁴⁶For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

⁴⁶အကြောင်းမူကား၊ ထိုသူတို့သည် အမျိုးမျိုးသော ဘာသာစကား အားဖြင့်ပြော၍၊ ဘုရားသခင်ကို ချီးမွမ်း သည်ကိုကြားကြလေ၏။

⁴⁷Can any man forbid the water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we?

⁴⁷ထိုအခါကေတရုက၊ ငါတို့ကဲ့သို့ သန့်ရှင်းသော ဝိညာဉ်တော် ကိုခံရသော ဤသူတို့ကို ဗတ္တိဇံ မပေးစေ ခြင်းငှါ အဘယ်သူသည် ရေကို မြစ်တားနိုင်သနည်း ဟုဆိုလျက်၊

⁴⁸And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

⁴⁸သခင်ဘုရား၏နာမ၌ ဗတ္တိဇံကို ခံစေမည် အကြောင်းစီရင် လေ၏။ ထိုနောက်မှပေတရုသည် ကာလအတန်အရာနေပါမည် အကြောင်းကို ထိုသူတို့ သည် တောင်းပန်ကြ၏။
