¹Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,

¹ကဲသာဘုရင် တိဗေရိနန်းစံတဆယ်ငါးနှစ်တွင်၊ ယုဒပြည်၌ ပုန္တိပိလတ်သည်မြို့ဝန်အရာ၊ ဂါလိလဲပြည်၌ ဟေရုဒ်သည် စော်ဘွားအရာ၊ ဣတုရဲပြည်နှင့် တရာခေါနိပြည်၌ ဟေရုဒ်ညီဖိလိပ္ပုသည် စော်ဘွားအရာ၊ အဘိလင်ပြည်၌ လုသာနိသည် စောဘွားအရာ၊

²in the highpriesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.

²အန္နနှင့်ကယာဖတို့သည် ယဇ်ပုရောဟိတ်မင်းအရာ၊ အသီးအသီးရှိကြသောအခါ၊ တော၌ရှိသော ဇာခရိ၏သားယောဟန်သည် ဘုရားသခင်၏ ဗျာဒိတ်တော်ကို ခံရ၏။

³And he came into all the region round about the Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance unto remission of sins;

³ပရောဖက်ဟေရှာယ၏ ကျမ်းစာ၌လာသည်ကား၊ တော၌ဟစ်ကြော်သောသူ၏အသံမှာ၊ ထာဝရ ဘုရားကြွတော်မူရာလမ်းကို ပြင်ကြလော့။

⁴as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make ye ready the way of the Lord, Make his paths straight.

⁴လမ်းခရီးတော်ကို ဖြောင့်စေကြလော့။ ချိုင့်ဝှမ်းရာရှိသမျှတို့ကို ဖို့ရ မည်။ တောင်ကြီးတောင်ငယ် ရှိသမျှတို့ကို ဖြိုရမည်။ ကောက်သောလမ်းများကို ဖြောင့်စေရမည်။

⁵Every valley shall be filled, And every mountain and hill shall be brought low; And the crooked shall become straight, And the rough ways smooth;

⁵ကြမ်းတမ်း သောလမ်းများကိုလည်း သုတ်သင်ပြင်ဆင်ရမည်။

⁶And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

⁶လူအပေါင်းတို့သည် ဘုရားသခင်၏ ကယ်တင်တော်မူခြင်း အကြောင်းကို မြင်ရကြလတံ့ဟု လာသည်နှင့်အညီ၊ ယောဟန်သည် ယော်ဒန်မြစ်နား၌ အနှံ့အပြားလှည့် လည်၍ အပြစ်လွှတ်ခြင်းအဘို့အလိုငှါ နောင်တနှင့် စပ်ဆိုင်သော ဗတ္တိဇံတရားကို ဟောလေ၏။

⁷He said therefore to the multitudes that went out to be baptized of him, Ye offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

⁷ထိုအခါ၊ ဗတ္တိဇံကို ခံအံ့သောငှါလာကြသော လူအစုအဝေးတို့အား ယောဟန်ဟောပြောသည်ကား၊ အချင်းမြွေဆိုးအမျိုးတို့၊ ရောက်လုသောဘေးဒဏ်မှ ပြေးသွားစိမ့်သောငှါ အဘယ်သူသည် သင်တို့ကို သတိ ပေးဘိသနည်း။

⁸Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

⁸နောင်တရခြင်းနှင့် ထိုက်တန်သောအကျင့်ကို ကျင့်ကြလော့။ အာဗြဟံသည် ငါတို့အဘဖြစ်သည်ဟူ၍ စိတ်ထဲ၌ မအောက်မေ့ကြနှင့်။ ဘုရားသခင်သည် ဤ ကျောက်ခဲတို့မှ အာဗြဟံသားတို့ကိုထုတ်ဘော် ဖန်ဆင်း နိုင်တော်မူသည်ဟု ငါအမှန်ဆို၏။

⁹And even now the axe also lieth at the root of the trees: every tree therefore that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

⁹သစ်ပင်အမြစ်နားမှာ ပုဆိန်ထားလျက်ရှိသည် ဖြစ်၍၊ ကောင်းသောအသီးမသီးသောအပင်ရှိသမျှတို့ကို ခုတ်လှဲ၍ မီးထဲသို့ ချလိုက်ရသည်ဟု ဟောပြောလေ၏။

¹⁰And the multitudes asked him, saying, What then must we do?

¹⁰လူအစုအဝေးကလည်း၊ သို့ဖြစ်လျှင် အကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် အဘယ်သို့ပြုရပါမည်နည်းဟု မေးလျှောက်ကြ သော်၊

¹¹And he answered and said unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath food, let him do likewise.

¹¹ယောဟန်က၊ အင်္ကျီနှစ်ထည်ရှိသောသူသည် အင်္ကျီမရှိသောသူအား မျှစေ။ စားစရာရှိသောသူသည် လည်း ထိုနည်းတူပြုစေဟု ပြန်ပြော၏။

¹²And there came also publicans to be baptized, and they said unto him, Teacher, what must we do?

¹²အခွန်ခံသူတို့သည် ဗတ္တိဇံကို ခံခြင်းငှါလာ၍၊ အရှင်ဘုရား၊ အကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် အဘယ်သို့ ပြုရပါမည် နည်းဟု မေးလျှောက်ကြလျှင်၊

¹³And he said unto them, Extort no more than that which is appointed you.

¹³သတို့သခင်သည် ခွဲဝေစီမံသည်ထက်သာ၍ မခွဲမခံကြနှင့်ဟု ပြန်ပြော၏။

¹⁴And soldiers also asked him, saying, And we, what must we do? And he said unto them, Extort from no man by violence, neither accuse [any one] wrongfully; and be content with your wages.

¹⁴စစ်သူရဲတို့ကလည်း အကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် အဘယ်သို့ပြုရပါမည်နည်းဟု မေးလျှောက်ကြလျှင်၊ သင်တို့ သည် အဘယ်သူကိုမျှ အနိုင်အထက်မပြုကြနှင့်။ အဘယ်သူကိုမျှ မလျှပ်ကြနှင့်။ ကိုယ်ရသောအခနှင့် ရောင့်ရဲကြလော့ဟု ပြန်ပြော၏။

¹⁵And as the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning John, whether haply he were the Christ;

¹⁵လူအများတို့သည် မြော်လင့်၍၊ ယောဟန်သည် ခရစ်တော်မှန်သည်မမှန်သည်ကို နှလုံးထဲမှာ တွေး တောဆင်ခြင်ကြစဉ်၊

¹⁶John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but there cometh he that is mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit and [in] fire:

¹⁶ယောဟန်သည် လူအပေါင်းတို့အား ပြန်ပြောသည်ကား၊ ငါသည်သင်တို့အား ရေ၌ ဗတ္တိဇံကိုပေး၏။ ငါ့ထက်တတ်စွမ်းနိုင်သောသူသည် ကြွလာသေး၏။ ထိုသူ၏ခြေတော်ကြိုးကိုမျှ ဖြည်ခြင်းငှါ ငါမထိုက်။ ထို သူသည် သန့်ရှင်းသောဝိညာဉ်တော်၌၎င်း၊ မီး၌၎င်း သင်တို့ကိုဗတ္တဇံကိုပေးမည်။

¹⁷whose fan is in his hand, thoroughly to cleanse his threshing-floor, and to gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire.

¹⁷လက်တော်တွင် စံကောပါလျက် မိမိကောက် နယ်တလင်းကို ရှင်းလင်းစေသဖြင့်၊ ဂျုံစပါးကိုကား ကျီ၌ စုသိမ်းသွင်းထား၍၊ အဖျင်းကိုကား မငြိမ်းနိုင်သောမီးနှင့် ရှို့တော်မူလတံ့ဟု ပြောဆို၏။

¹⁸With many other exhortations therefore preached he good tidings unto the people;

¹⁸အခြားသောစကားများနှင့် ဆုံးမသွေးဆောင်၍ ဧဝံဂေလိတရားကို လူအများတို့အား ဟောပြော လေ၏။

¹⁹but Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother's wife, and for all the evil things which Herod had done,

¹⁹ထိုနောက် စော်ဘွားဟေရုဒ်သည် မိမိညီ၏ ခင်ပွန်းဟေရောဒိအကြောင်းမှစ၍၊ မိမိပြုသောဒုစရိုက် အပြစ်ရှိသမျှတို့ကို ယောဟန်သည် ဘော်ပြဆုံးမသောကြောင့်၊

²⁰added this also to them all, that he shut up John in prison.

²⁰ဟေရုဒ်သည် အရင်အပြစ်ရှိသမျှတို့အပေါ်မှာ ပြစ်သစ်ကိုထပ်လောင်း၍ ယောဟန်ကို ထောင်ထဲမှာ လှောင်ထား၏။

²¹Now it came to pass, when all the people were baptized, that, Jesus also having been baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,

²¹လူအပေါင်းတို့သည် ဗတ္တိဇံကိုခံကြသောအခါ၊ ယေရှုသည်လည်း ဗတ္တိဇံကိုခံတော်မူ၍ ဆုတောင်းစဉ် တွင်၊ ကောင်းကင်ဖွင့်လှစ်သဖြင့်၊

²²and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form, as a dove, upon him, and a voice came out of heaven, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

²²သန့်ရှင်းသောဝိညာဉ်တော်သည် ချိုးငှက်ကဲ့သို့ ကိုယ်ထင်ရှားလျက် ကိုယ်တော်ပေါ်၌ ဆင်းသက်တော် မူ၍၊ သင်ကား၊ ငါနှစ်သက်မြတ်နိုးရာ၊ ငါ၏ချစ်သားပေတည်းဟု ကောင်းကင်က အသံတော်ဖြစ်လေ၏။

²³And Jesus himself, when he began [to teach], was about thirty years of age, being the son (as was supposed) of Joseph, the [son] of Heli,

²³ထိုအခါ ယေရှုသည် အနှစ်သုံးဆယ်ခန့်မျှရှိတော်မူ၏။ လူများအထင်အမှတ်အားဖြင့် ကိုယ်တော်၏ အဘကား ယောသပ်တည်း။ ယောသပ်အဘဧလိ၊

²⁴the [son] of Matthat, the [son] of Levi, the [son] of Melchi, the [son] of Jannai, the [son] of Joseph,

²⁴ဧလိအဘ မဿတ်၊ မဿတ်အဘ လေဝိ။ လေဝိအဘ မေလခိ၊ ပေလခိဘ ယန္န၊ ယန္နအဘ ယောသပ်၊

²⁵the [son] of Mattathias, the [son] of Amos, the [son] of Nahum, the [son] of Esli, the [son] of Naggai,

²⁵ယောသပ်အဘ မတ္တသိ၊ မတ္တသိအဘ အာမုတ်၊ အာမုတ်အဘ နာဟုံ၊ နာဟုံအဘ ဧသလိ၊

²⁶the [son] of Maath, the [son] of Mattathias, the [son] of Semein, the [son] of Josech, the [son] of Joda,

²⁶ဧသလိအဘနဂ္ဂဲ၊ နဂ္ဂဲအဘ မာအတ်၊ မာအတ်အဘ မတ္တသိ၊ မတ္တသိအဘ ရှေမိ၊ ရှေမိအဘ ယောသပ်၊ ယောသပ်အဘ ယုဒ၊ ယုဒအဘယေဟန္န၊

²⁷the [son] of Joanan, the [son] of Rhesa, the [son] of Zerubbabel, the [son] of Shealtiel, the [son] of Neri,

²⁷ယောဟန္နအဘ ရေသ၊ ရေသအဘ ဇေရု ဗဗေလ၊ ဇေရုဗဗေလအဘ ရှာလသေလ၊ ရှာလသေလ အဘ နေရိ၊ နေရိအဘ မေလခိ၊ မေလခိအဘ အဒ္ဒိ၊

²⁸the [son] of Melchi, the [son] of Addi, the [son] of Cosam, the [son] of Elmadam, the [son] of Er,

²⁸အဒ္ဒိအဘကောသံ၊ ကောသံအဘ ဧလမောဒံ၊ ဧလမောဒံအဘ ဧရ၊

²⁹the [son] of Jesus, the [son] of Eliezer, the son of Jorim, the [son] of Matthat, the [son] of Levi,

²⁹ဧရအဘ ယောသေ၊ ယောသေအဘဧလျေဇာ၊ ဧလျေဇာအဘ ယောရိမ်၊ ယောရိမ်အဘမဿတ်၊ မဿတ်အဘလေဝိ၊

³⁰the [son] of Symeon, the [son] of Judas, the [son] of Joseph, the [son] of Jonam, the [son] of Eliakim,

³⁰လေဝိအဘရှိမောင်၊ ရှိမောင်အဘယုဒ၊ ယုဒ အဘယောသပ်၊ ယောသပ် အဘယောနန်၊ ယောနန်အဘ ဧလျောတိမ်၊ ဧလျာကိမ် အဘမေလေ၊

³¹the [son] of Melea, the [son] of Menna, the [son] of Mattatha, the [son] of Nathan, the [son] of David,

³¹မေလေအဘမဲနန်၊ မဲနန်အဘမတ္တသ၊ မတ္တသ အဘနာသန်၊ နာသန့်အဘဒါဝိဒ်၊

³²the [son] of Jesse, the [son] of Obed, the [son] of Boaz, the [son] of Salmon, the [son] of Nahshon,

³²ဒါဝိဒ်အဘယေရှဲ၊ ယေရှဲ အဘဩဗက်၊ ဩဇက် အာဘဗောဇ၊ ဗောဇအဘစာလမုန်၊ စာလမုန်အဘ နာရှန်၊

³³the [son] of Amminadab, the [son] of Arni, the [son] of Hezron, the [son] of Perez, the [son] of Judah,

³³နာရှုန်အဘအမိနဒဝ်၊ အမိနဒဝ်အဘအာရံ၊ အာရံအဘဟေဇရုံ၊ ဟေဇရုံအဘဖာရက်၊ ဖာရက် အဘယုဒ၊

³⁴the [son] of Jacob, the [son] of Isaac, the [son] of Abraham, the [son] of Terah, the [son] of Nahor,

³⁴ယုဒအဘ ယာကုပ်၊ ယာကုပ်အဘ ဣဇာက်၊ ဣဇာက်အဘအာဗြဟံ၊ အာဗြဟံအဘတေရ၊ တေရအဘ နာခေါ်၊

³⁵the [son] of Serug, the [son] of Reu, the [son] of Peleg, the [son] of Eber, the [son] of Shelah

³⁵နာခေါ်အဘစေရောက်၊ စေရောက်အဘ ရာဂေါ၊ ရာဂေါအဘဖာလက်၊ ဖာလက်အဘ ဟေဗာ၊ ဟေဗာအဘ ရှာလ၊

³⁶the [son] of Cainan, the [son] of Arphaxad, the [son] of Shem, the [son] of Noah, the [son] of Lamech,

³⁶ရှာလအဘ ကာဣနန်၊ ကာဣနန်အဘ အာဖာဇဒ်၊ အာဖာဇဒ်အဘ ရှေမ၊ ရှေမအဘနောဧ၊ နောဧအဘလာမက်၊

³⁷the [son] of Methuselah, the [son] of Enoch, the [son] of Jared, the [son] of Mahalaleel, the [son] of Cainan,

³⁷လာမက်အဘ မသုရှလ၊ မသုရှလအဘ ဧနောက်၊ ဧနောက်အဘယာရက်၊ ယာရက်အဘ မဟာ လေလေလ၊ မဟာလေလေလအဘ ကာဣနန်၊ ကာဣနန် အဘဧနုတ်၊ ဧနုတ်အဘရှေသ၊ ရှေသအဘ အာဒံ၊ အာဒံအဘဘုရား သခင်ပေတည်း။

³⁸the [son] of Enos, the [son] of Seth, the [son] of Adam, the [son] of God.
