¹My son, if thou art become surety for thy neighbor, If thou hast stricken thy hands for a stranger;

¹ငါ့သား၊ သင်သည် အဆွေခင်ပွန်းအတွက် အာမခံမိသော်၎င်း၊ သူတပါးနှင့်လက်ဝါးချင်း ရိုက်မိ သော်၎င်း၊

²Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, Thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.

²ကိုယ်နှုတ်ထွက်စကားဖြင့် ကျော်မိပြီ။ ကိုယ် ပြောသောစကားကြောင့် အမှုရောက်လေပြီ။

³Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, Seeing thou art come into the hand of thy neighbor: Go, humble thyself, and importune thy neighbor;

³ငါ့သား၊ သင်သည် အဆွေခင်ပွန်းလက်သို့ ရောက်မိလျှင်၊ ကိုယ်ကို နှုတ်အံ့သောငှါ အဘယ်သို့ ပြုရမည်နည်းဟူမူကား၊ အဆွေခင်ပွန်းထံသို့ သွား၍၊ ကိုယ်ကိုနှိမ့်ချလျက်သူ့ကို နှိုးဆော်လော့။

⁴Give not sleep to thine eyes, Nor slumber to thine eyelids;

⁴အိပ်မပျော်နှင့်။ မျက်စိမှိတ်၍ မငိုက်နှင့်။

⁵Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand [of the hunter], And as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

⁵မုဆိုးလက်မှ သမင်ဒရယ်ကို၎င်း၊ ငှက်ကို၎င်း နှုတ်ရသကဲ့သို့ ကိုယ်ကိုနှုတ်လော့။

⁶Go to the ant, thou sluggard; Consider her ways, and be wise:

⁶အချင်းလူပျင်း၊ ပရွက်ဆိတ်ထံသို့သွား၍၊ သူ၏ အပြုအမူတို့ကို ဆင်ခြင်သဖြင့် ပညာရှိစေလော့။

⁷Which having no chief, Overseer, or ruler,

⁷ပရွတ်ဆိတ်သည်ဆရာမရှိ၊ ပဲ့ပြင်သောသူမရှိ၊ မင်းမရှိဘဲလျက်၊

⁸Provideth her bread in the summer, And gathereth her food in the harvest.

⁸နွေကာလနှင့် စပါးရိတ်ရာကာလ၌ မိမိ စားစရာအစာကို ရှာဖွေသိုထားတတ်၏။

⁹How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?

⁹အိုလူပျင်း၊ သင်သည် အဘယ်မျှကာလပတ်လုံး အိပ်လျက်နေလိမ့်မည်နည်း။ အဘယ်သော အခါနိုးလိမ့်မည် နည်း။

¹⁰[Yet] a little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep:

¹⁰ခဏအိပ်လျက်၊ ခဏပျော်လျက်၊ အိပ်ပျော် အံ့သောငှါ ခဏလက်ချင်းပိုက်လျက် နေစဉ်တွင်၊

¹¹So shall thy poverty come as a robber, And thy want as an armed man.

¹¹ဆင်းရဲခြင်းသည် ခရီးသွားသော သူကဲ့သို့၎င်း၊ ဥစ္စာပြုန်းတီးခြင်းသည် သူရဲကဲ့သို့၎င်း ရောက်လာ လိမ့်မည်။

¹²A worthless person, a man of iniquity, Is he that walketh with a perverse mouth;

¹²ဆိုးယုတ်သော သူနှင့်မတရားသောသူသည် ကောက်လိမ်သော စကား၌ ကျင်လည်တတ်၏။

¹³That winketh with his eyes, that speaketh with his feet, That maketh signs with his fingers;

¹³မျက်တောင်ခတ်လျက်၊ ခြေဖြင့် အမှတ်ပေး လျက်၊ လက်ချောင်းတို့ဖြင့် သွန်သင်လျက် ပြုတတ်၏။

¹⁴In whose heart is perverseness, Who deviseth evil continually, Who soweth discord.

¹⁴ကောက်သော စိတ်သဘောနှင့် ပြည့်စုံ၍၊ မကောင်းသော အကြံကို အစဉ်ကြံစည်တတ်၏။ သူတပါးချင်းရန်တွေ့စေခြင်းငှါ ပြုတတ်၏။

¹⁵Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; On a sudden shall he be broken, and that without remedy.

¹⁵ထိုကြောင့်သူသည် အမှတ်တမဲ့အမှုရောက်၍၊ ကိုးကွယ်စရာဘဲ ချက်ခြင်းကျိုးပဲ့ပျက်စီးရလိမ့်မည်။

¹⁶There are six things which Jehovah hateth; Yea, seven which are an abomination unto him:

¹⁶ထာဝရဘုရား မုန်းတော်မူသော အရာ ခြောက် ပါးမက၊ စက်ဆုပ်ရွံ့ရှာတော်မူသောအရာ ခုနစ်ပါး ဟူမူကား၊

¹⁷Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood;

¹⁷ထောင်လွှားသော မျက်နှာတပါး၊ မုသာ၌ ကျင် လည်သော လျှာတပါး၊ အပြစ်မရှိသောသူ၏ အသက်ကို သတ်သော လက်တပါး၊

¹⁸A heart that deviseth wicked purposes, Feet that are swift in running to mischief,

¹⁸မကောင်းသော အကြံကို ကြံစည်သော နှလုံး တပါး၊ အပြစ်ပြုရာသို့ အလျင်အမြန် ပြေးတတ်သော ခြေတပါး၊

¹⁹A false witness that uttereth lies, And he that soweth discord among brethren.

¹⁹မုသာစကားကိုပြော၍ မမှန်သောသက်သေ တပါး၊ အပေါင်းအဘော်ချင်း ရန်တွေ့စေခြင်းငှါ ပြုတတ် သော သူတပါးတည်း။

²⁰My son, keep the commandment of thy father, And forsake not the law of thy mother:

²⁰ငါ့သား၊ အဘ၏ပညတ်စကားကို နားထောင် လော့။ အမိပေးသော တရားကို မပယ်နှင့်။

²¹Bind them continually upon thy heart; Tie them about thy neck.

²¹နှလုံးပေါ်မှာ အမြဲချည်၍ လည်ပင်း၌ ဆွဲထား လော့။

²²When thou walkest, it shall lead thee; When thou sleepest, it shall watch over thee; And when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.

²²သင်သည် အခြားသို့ သွားသောအခါ၊ ထိုပညတ် တရားသည် လမ်းပြလိမ့်မည်။ အိပ်သောအခါ သင့်ကို စောင့်လိမ့်မည်။ နိုးသောအခါ သင်နှင့် နှုတ်ဆက် လိမ့်မည်။

²³For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; And reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

²³အကြောင်းမူကား၊ ပညတ်တော်သည် မီးခွက် ဖြစ်၏။ တရားတော်သည် အလင်းဖြစ်၏။ အပြစ်ကို ပြတတ်သော ဩဝါဒစကားသည် အသက်လမ်းဖြစ်၏။

²⁴To keep thee from the evil woman, From the flattery of the foreigner's tongue.

²⁴ဆိုးသောမိန်းမနှင့်၎င်း၊ အမျိုးပျက်သော မိန်းမ ချော့မော့တတ်သော နှုတ်နှင့်၎င်းလွတ်စေခြင်းငှါ၊ သင့်ကို စောင့်ဘို့ရာဖြစ်သတည်း။

²⁵Lust not after her beauty in thy heart; Neither let her take thee with her eyelids.

²⁵ထိုသို့သောမိန်းမသည် အဆင်းလှသော်လည်း၊ တပ်မက်သော စိတ်မရှိနှင့်။ သူသည် မျက်ခမ်းတို့ဖြင့် သင့်ကိုမကျော့မိစေနှင့်။

²⁶For on account of a harlot [a man is brought] to a piece of bread; And the adulteress hunteth for the precious life.

²⁶အကြောင်းမူကား၊ ပြည်တန်ဆာမကို မှီဝဲသော ယောက်ျားသည် ဆင်းရဲ၍၊ မုန့်တလုံးကိုသာ ရတတ်၏။ မျောက်မထားသော မိန်းမသည်လည်း မြတ်သောအသက် ကို ဘမ်းတတ်၏။

²⁷Can a man take fire in his bosom, And his clothes not be burned?

²⁷လူသည်အဝတ်မလောင်ဘဲ မီးကို ပိုက်ဘက်နိုင် သလော။

²⁸Or can one walk upon hot coals, And his feet not be scorched?

²⁸ခြေမလောင်ဘဲမီးခဲပေါ်မှာ နင်းနိုင်သလော။

²⁹So he that goeth in to his neighbor's wife; Whosoever toucheth her shall not be unpunished.

²⁹သူ့မယားထံသို့ဝင်သောသူသည် ထိုနည်းတူ ဖြစ်၏။ သူ့မယားကို ပြစ်မှားသော သူမည်သည်ကား၊ အပြစ် နှင့် မကင်းမလွတ်နိုင်ရာ၊

³⁰Men do not despise a thief, if he steal To satisfy himself when he is hungry:

³⁰မွတ်သိပ်သော စိတ်ပြေစေခြင်းငှါ၊ ခိုးသောသူ ပင် အပြစ်မလွတ်ရ။

³¹But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; He shall give all the substance of his house.

³¹တွေ့မိလျှင် ခုနစ်ဆပြန်ပေးရမည်။ ကိုယ်အိမ်၌ ရှိသမျှသော ဥစ္စာတို့ကို လျော်ရမည်။

³²He that committeth adultery with a woman is void of understanding: He doeth it who would destroy his own soul.

³²သူ့မယားကိုပြစ်မှားသော သူသည် ဥာဏ်မရှိ။ ထိုသို့ပြုသော သူသည် မိမိအသက်ကို ဖျက်ဆီးတတ်၏။

³³Wounds and dishonor shall he get; And his reproach shall not be wiped away.

³³နာကျင်စွာ ထိခိုက်ခြင်းနှင့် အသရေရှုတ်ချခြင်း ကို ခံရလိမ့်မည်။ သူ၏အရှက်ကွဲခြင်းသည် မပြေနိုင်။

³⁴For jealousy is the rage of a man; And he will not spare in the day of vengeance.

³⁴အကြောင်းမူကား၊ ယောက်ျားသည် မယားကို မယုံသောစိတ်ရှိလျှင်၊ ပြင်းထန်စွာ အမျက်ထွက်တတ်၏။ အပြစ်ပေးချိန်ရောက်သောအခါ သနားခြင်းမရှိတတ်။

³⁵He will not regard any ransom; Neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.

³⁵လျော်ပြစ်ငွေမည်မျှကို ပမာဏမပြုတတ်။ များစွာသော လက်ဆောင်တို့ကိုပေးသော်လည်း စိတ် မပြေတတ်။
