1Then Job answered and said,
1तब अय्यूबले जवाफ दिए,
2Of a truth I know that it is so: But how can man be just with God?
2“हो, म जान्दछु तिमीले जे कुरा भन्छौ त्यो सत्य हो। तर कसरी मानिसले परमेश्वरलाई तर्कमा पराजित गराउनु सक्छ?
3If he be pleased to contend with him, He cannot answer him one of a thousand.
3एक मानिसले परमेश्वरसंग तर्क गर्न सक्तैन। परमेश्वरले 1,000 प्रश्नहरू सोध्न सक्नु हुनेछ तर त्यो मानिसले एउटा मात्रको पनि जवाफ दिन सक्ने छैन।
4[He is] wise in heart, and mighty in strength: Who hath hardened himself against him, and prospered?-
4परमेश्वर महाज्ञानी हुनुहुन्छ, अनि उहाँको शक्ति महान छ। परमेश्वरसंग लडाई गर्ने कसैले पनि चोट पाउन सक्छ।
5[Him] that removeth the mountains, and they know it not, When he overturneth them in his anger;
5परमेश्वरको क्रोधले पर्वतहरू नै हल्लाइदिन सक्छ अनि तिनीहरूले थाहासम्म पाउँदैनन्।
6That shaketh the earth out of its place, And the pillars thereof tremble;
6परमेश्वरले पृथ्वी थर्काउनलाई भुईंचालो पठाउनु हुन्छ। परमेश्वरले पृथ्वीको मूलाधार हल्लाई दिनुहुन्छ।
7That commandeth the sun, and it riseth not, And sealeth up the stars;
7परमेश्वर घामसँग बोल्न सक्नु हुन्छ अनि यसलाई उदाउन दिनुहुन्न। उहाँले ताराहरूलाई बन्द गर्न सक्नु हुन्छ। यसकारण तिनीहरू चम्कन सक्तैनन्।
8That alone stretcheth out the heavens, And treadeth upon the waves of the sea;
8परमेश्वर एक्लैले आकाशहरू बनाउँनुभयो। उहाँ समुद्री छालहरूमा हिंडनुहुन्छ।
9That maketh the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades, And the chambers of the south;
9[This verse may not be a part of this translation]
10That doeth great things past finding out, Yea, marvellous things without number.
10परमेश्वरले महान कर्महरू गर्नुहुन्छ जुन मानिसहरूले बुझ्न सक्तैनन्। परमेश्वरका चमत्कारहरूको कुनै अन्त हुँदैन।
11Lo, he goeth by me, and I see him not: He passeth on also, but I perceive him not.
11जब परमेश्वर मदेखि जानुहुन्छ, म उहाँलाई देख्न सक्तिन। जब परमेश्वर मेरै छेउबाट जानु हुन्छ म उहाँलाई देख्दिन।
12Behold, he seizeth [the prey], who can hinder him? Who will say unto him, What doest thou?
12यदि परमेश्वरले केही थोक लगेर जानु भयो भने कसैले उहाँलाई रोक्न सक्दैन। कसैले पनि उहाँलाई केही भन्न ‘सक्तैनन् तपाईं के गरिरहनु भएको छ?’
13God will not withdraw his anger; The helpers of Rahab do stoop under him.
13परमेश्वरले आफ्नो क्रोध फर्काउँनुहुन्न। रहाबको सहयोगीहरूले परमेश्वरको डर माने।
14How much less shall I answer him, And choose out my words [to reason] with him?
14यसैले म परमेश्वरसंग तर्क गर्न सक्तिनँ। उहाँलाई मैले के भन्नुपर्छ म जान्दिनँ।
15Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer; I would make supplication to my judge.
15म निर्दोष छु तर म उहाँलाई जवाफ दिन सक्तिनँ। म उहाँको दयाका निम्ति मात्र याचना गर्न सक्छु।
16If I had called, and he had answered me, Yet would I not believe that he hearkened unto my voice.
16मैले बोलाउँदा उहाँले जवाफ दिनुभयो, म अझ विश्वास गर्ने छैन कि उहाँले साँचि नै मलाई सुन्नु भएकोछ।
17For he breaketh me with a tempest, And multiplieth my wounds without cause.
17परमेश्वरले मात्र मलाई मिच्न आँधी पठाउनु भयो। उहाँले कुनै कारणै बिना मलाई ज्यादा घाउ र चोटहरू दिनुभयो।
18He will not suffer me to take my breath, But filleth me with bitterness.
18परमेश्वरले फेरि मलाई सास फेर्न दिनुहुने छैन। उहाँले खाली मलाई ज्यादा दुःखहरू मात्र दिनुहुन्छ।
19If [we speak] of strength, lo, [he is] mighty! And if of justice, Who, [saith he], will summon me?
19म परमेश्वरलाई पराजित गर्न सक्तिनँ। परमेश्वर अत्यन्त शक्तिशाली हुनुहुन्छ। म परमेश्वरलाई न्यायलयमा लैजान सक्तिनँ! अनि ममाथि निष्पक्ष हुनुहोस् भनेर जिद्दी गर्न सक्तिनँ।
20Though I be righteous, mine own mouth shall condemn me: Though I be perfect, it shall prove me perverse.
20म निर्दोष छु, तर मैले भनेका कुराहरूले मलाई दोषी बनाए जस्तो लाग्छ। म निर्दोष छु, तर यदि म बोलें भने मेरो मुखले मलाई नै दोषी प्रमाणगर्छ।
21I am perfect; I regard not myself; I despise my life.
21म निर्दोष छु। तर म जान्दिन के सोच्ने। म आफ्नै जीवनलाई घृणा गर्छु।
22It is all one; therefore I say, He destroyeth the perfect and the wicked.
22म आफैलाई भन्छु, ‘त्यस्तै कुराहरू सबैमाथि घटिरहन्छन्। निर्दोष मानिसहरू दोषी झैं मर्छन्। परमेश्वरले सबैको जीवनलाई समाप्त गर्नुहुन्छ।’
23If the scourge slay suddenly, He will mock at the trial of the innocent.
23जब कँही डरलाग्दो घटनाहरू भयो भने अनि निर्दोष मानिसहरू मारिए भने के परमेश्वर तिनीहरूमाथि हाँस्नु हुन्छ?
24The earth is given into the hand of the wicked; He covereth the faces of the judges thereof: If [it be] not [he], who then is it?
24जब एकजना दुष्ट मानिस एउटा देशको शासक हुन्छ तब के परमेश्वरले आफ्नो नायकलाई त्यहाँ के भएको छ हेर्न पठाउनुहुन्छ? यदि त्यो सत्य हो भने परमेश्वर चाँहि को हुन् त?
25Now my days are swifter than a post: They flee away, they see no good,
25दगुर्ने भन्दा पनि मेरो दिनहरू चाँडो भाग्दछ मेरा दिनहरू उडी जाँदैछ अनि त्यहाँ तिनीहरूमा कुनै खुशीयाली नै छैन।
26They are passed away as the swift ships; As the eagle that swoopeth on the prey.
26मेरा दिनहरू डुङ्गा जस्तै छिटो बग्छन्। मेरो दिनहरू चीलले आफ्नो शिकारमाथि बेगले झम्टे झैं चाँडो बित्छ।
27If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will put off my [sad] countenance, and be of good cheer;
27“यदि म भन्छु ‘म गुनासो गर्ने छैन म आफ्ना पीडाहरू भुल्छु, म मेरो अनुहारमा मुस्कानले भर्छु।
28I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that thou wilt not hold me innocent.
28म मेरा पीडाले अझै भयभीत छु। म जान्दछु तिमीले मलाई निर्दोष मान्ने छैनौ।
29I shall be condemned; Why then do I labor in vain?
29यदि म दोषी ठहरी सकेको छु भने आफ्नो परीक्षा किन गरिरहने। म भन्छु, ‘यो भुलिदेऊ।’
30If I wash myself with snow water, And make my hands never so clean;
30यदि मैले स्वयंलाई हिऊँले धोएँ भने अनि साबूनले हातहरू सफा राखें भने,
31Yet wilt thou plunge me in the ditch, And mine own clothes shall abhor me.
31परमेश्वरले मलाई हिलो भएको खाडलमा धकेल्नु हुन्छ। तब मेरो लुगाहरूले पनि मलाई घृणा गर्नेछन्।
32For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, That we should come together in judgment.
32परमेश्वर म जस्तो मानिस हुनुहुन्न यसकारणले गर्दा म उहाँलाई जवाफ दिन सक्तिनँ। हामी न्यायलयमा एकार्काले भेट गर्न सक्तैनौ।
33There is no umpire betwixt us, That might lay his hand upon us both.
33म चाहन्छु कि त्यहाँ दुवै पक्षहरूलाई सुनिदिने कोही रहोस्। म चाहन्छु कि त्यहाँ दुवै पक्षलाई निष्पक्ष रूपमा न्याय गर्ने कोही होस्।
34Let him take his rod away from me, And let not his terror make me afraid:
34म चाहन्छु कि परमेश्वरले लिने डण्डा लगिदिने त्यहाँ कोही होस्। तब परमेश्वरले मलाई एकदमै भयभीत पार्नु हुने छैन।
35Then would I speak, and not fear him; For I am not so in myself.
35तब परमेश्वरको भयबाट स्वतन्त्र भएर मैले चाहेको कुरा म भन्न सक्थें।
