1Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to draw up a narrative concerning those matters which have been fulfilled among us,
1प्रिय थियोफिलस, किनभने धेरै मानिलहरूले हाम्रा बीचमा घटेका घटनाहरूकाबिषयमा इतिहास लेख्ने चेष्टा गरेका छन्।
2even as they delivered them unto us, who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word,
2तिनीहरूले ती कुराहरू नै लेखेका छन् जुन कुराहरू शुरूदेखि नै हामीलाई ती मानिसहरू जो साक्षीहरू र परमेश्वरका संदेशको सेवकहरूले बताउँदै आएका छन्।
3it seemed good to me also, having traced the course of all things accurately from the first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus;
3हे माननीय म आफैंले शुरूदेखि नै होशियार साथ सबै कुराहरूको अध्ययन गरेको छु। त्यसैले, मैले सोचें मैले पनि तिमाहरूको लागि क्रमानुसार यी कुराहरू लेख्नै पर्छ। यसैले, मैले
4that thou mightest know the certainty concerning the things wherein thou wast instructed.
4तिमीहरूलाई बुझाउनको लागि जुन तिमीहरूले सिकेकाछौ त्यही कुराहरू नै सत्य हो भन्न, मैले यी कुराहरू लेखेको छु।
5There was in the days of Herod, king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abijah: and he had a wife of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.
5यहूदामा हेरोदको शासन कालमा जकरिया नाउँ गरेका एकजना पूजाहारी थिए। जकरिया अबियाका पूजाहारी समूहका थिए। जकरियाकी पत्नी हारून वंशकी थिईन्। तिनको नाउँ इलीशिबा थियो।
6And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
6ती दुवै जकरिया र इलीशिबा परमेश्वर समक्ष असल मानिस थिए। जहाँ सम्म परमप्रभुको जम्मै आज्ञा र नियमहरूको सम्बन्ध छ तिनीहरू निष्कलंक थिए।
7And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were [now] well stricken in years.
7तर जकरिया र इलीशिबा निःसन्तान थिए। इलीशिबा गर्भवती हुन सकिनन्, कारण तिनीहरू दुवै बृद्ध भइसकेका थिए।
8Now it came to pass, while he executed the priest's office before God in the order of his course,
8जब उनको समूहको सेवा गर्ने पालो थियो जकरियाले परमेश्वर अघि मानिसहरूको सेवा पूजाहारी भएर गरे। यस्तै उनको समूहको सेवा गर्ने समय थियो। परमेश्वर
9according to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to enter into the temple of the Lord and burn incense.
9पूजाहारीहरूले संधैं एकजना पूजाहारीलाई धूप दिने गर्दथे। जकरिया यस्तै काम गर्ने छानिएको थिए। यसकारण उनले परमप्रभुको मन्दिरमा धूप जनाउनु पर्थ्यो।
10And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the hour of incense.
10त्यहाँ जम्मै उपासकहरू बाहिर एकत्रित भएका थिए। धूप दिइएकै बेला तिनीहरू प्रार्थना गर्नमा तल्लीन थिए।
11And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of altar of incense.
11त्यसपछि धूप जलिरहेको दाहिनेपट्टि परमप्रभुको एउटा स्वर्गदूत जकरियाको अघि उभिएका थिए।
12And Zacharias was troubled when he saw [him], and fear fell upon him.
12जब उनले स्वर्गदूतलाई देख्यो, जकरिया भ्रममा परे र डरले आत्तिए।
13But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: because thy supplication is heard, and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
13ती स्वर्गदूतले जकरियालाई भने, “जकरिया, नडराऊ। तिम्रो प्रार्थनालाई परमेश्वरले सुनिदिनु भएकोछ। तिम्री पत्नी इलीशिबाले एउटा पुत्र जन्म दिनेछन्। उनको नाउँ तिमीले यूहन्ना राखिदिनु।
14And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.
14तिनेले तिमीहरूमा आनन्द र खुशीयाली ल्याउनेछन्। तिनको जन्मले धेरै धेरै मानिसहरूमा सुख ल्याउनेछ।
15For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and he shall drink no wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.
15परमप्रभुको सामुन्ने यूहन्ना तिनी एकजना महान मानिस बनिनेछन्। तिनले दाखरस अथवा मदिरा कदापि लिने छैन। तिनको जन्मबाट नै तिनी पवित्र आत्माले भरिएको हुनेछन्।
16And many of the children of Israel shall be turn unto the Lord their God.
16तिनी धेरै यहूदीहरूलाई परमप्रभु तिनीहरू परमेश्वरतिर खिंच्ने माध्यम हुनेछन्।
17And he shall go before his face in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient [to walk] in the wisdom of the just; to make ready for the Lord a people prepared [for him].
17तिनी आफैं अग्रदूत झैं परमप्रभुको अघि अघि जानेछन्। एलिया जस्तै तिनी पनि शक्ति सम्पन्न मानिस हुनेछन्। एलियामा भएकै आत्मा उनमा पनि हुनेछ। बाबुहरू र छोरा-छोरीहरू माझ उनले नै शान्ति बनाई राख्नेछन्। तिनीहरू जसले परमेश्वरको आज्ञा पालन गर्दैनन् त्यस्ताहरूलाई धार्मिक मानिसहरूलाई जस्तै सोंच्ने बानउनेछन्। परमप्रभुको आगमनका निम्ति मानिसहरूलाई उनले नै तयारी पार्नेछन्।”
18And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.
18जकरियाले स्वर्गदूतलाई भने, “यो कुरा साँचो हो भनेर म कसरी निश्चित हुनु? म एउटा बूढो मानिस हुँ, अनि मेरी पत्नी पनि बुढी नै छिन्?
19And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and I was sent to speak unto thee, and to bring thee these good tidings.
19ती स्वर्गदूतले जवाफ दिए, “म गब्रिएल हुँ। म परमेश्वरको अघि खडा रहन्छु। परमेश्वरले नै मलाई तिमीसित कुरा गर्न र यिनै खुशीको सुसमाचार दिन पठाउनु भएको हो।
20And behold, thou shalt be silent and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall come to pass, because thou believedst not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.
20अब सुन। यी कुराहरू पूरा नहुन्जेल सम्म तिमी लाटो हुनेछौ र बोल्न सक्नेछैनौ। किन? किनभने मैले भनेको कुराहरू जो आफ्नो समयमा सत्य हुनेछ तिमीले विश्वास गरेका छैर्नों।”
21And the people were waiting for Zacharias, and they marvelled while he tarried in the temple.
21बाहिरपट्टि, मानिसहरूले जकरियालाई र्पखिरहेका थिए। मन्दिरमा यति लामो समय सम्म बसेको देखेर तिनीहरू छक्क परिरहेका थिए।
22And when he came out, he could not speak unto them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: and he continued making signs unto them, and remained dumb.
22त्यसपछि जकरिया बाहिर आए, तर उनी बोल्न नसक्ने भएका थिए। उनी ती मानिसहरूका अघि देखा मात्र पर्न सक्थे। तब तिनीहरूले उनले मन्दिरभित्र केही दर्शन पाएको चाल पाए। उनले तिनीहरूसित इशारा मात्र गरिरहे अनि लाटा झैं बसिरहे।
23And it came to pass, when the days of his ministration were fulfilled, he departed unto his house.
23जब जकरियाको सेवाको दिन पूरा भयो, तिनी आफ्नो घरतिर लागे।
24And after these days Elisabeth his wife conceived; and she hid herself five months, saying,
24केही समय पछि जकरियाको पत्नी इलीशिबा गर्भवती भइन्। अनि पाँच महीनासम्म उनी घरदेखि बाहिर निस्किनन्। इलीशिबाले भनिन्,
25Thus hath the Lord done unto me in the days wherein he looked upon [me], to take away my reproach among men.
25हेर, मलाई परमप्रभुले के गर्नुभएको छ। उहाँले मेरो एउटा नानी जन्मियोस् भनी निर्णय लिनु भयो। परमप्रभुले ममाथि यति कृपा गर्नु भयो कि अब उसो मानिसहरूको सामुन्नेबाट मलाई लाज मुक्त पार्नु भयो।”
26Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

27to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

28And he came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favored, the Lord [is] with thee.
28ती स्वर्गदूत मरियमकहाँ गए अनि भने, “शुभकामना छ। परमप्रभु तिमीसितै हुनुहुन्छ। तिमी उहाँको खुवै प्रिय छौ।”
29But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this might be.
29तर त्यो स्वर्गदूतले भनेका यी कुराहरूमा मरियम खुबै विचलित भइन्। मरियम छक्क परिन् र भनिन् “यो अभिवादन को अर्थ के हो?”
30And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God.
30ती दूतले उनलाई भने, “डराउनु पर्दैन मरियम, किनभने परमेश्वर तिमीसित अत्यन्त खुशी हुनुहुन्छ।
31And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
31सुन! तिमी गर्भवती हुनेछौ अनि तिमीले एउटा छोरो जन्माउनेछौ। अनि उहाँको नाउँ तिमीले येशू राख्नु।
32He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
32उहाँ महान् हुनुहुनेछ र सर्वोच्च परमेश्वरका पुत्र कहलाईनु हुनेछ। परमप्रभु परमेश्वरले उहाँलाई उहाँको पुर्खा दाऊदको सिंहासन दिनुहुनेछ।
33and he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
33उहाँले याकूबका घरानामाथि सँधैंका लागि शासन गर्नुहुनेछ। येशूको राज्यको अन्त्य कहिल्यै हुनेछैन।”
34And Mary said unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
34मरियमले ती स्वर्गदूतलाई भनिन्, “म कन्या नै छु, यस्तो कसरी हुन सक्छ?”
35And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee: wherefore also the holy thing which is begotten shall be called the Son of God.
35ती स्वर्गदूतले मरियमलाई भने, “पवित्र आत्मा तिमीमाथि आउनुहुनेछ अनि सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वरको शक्तिले तिमीलाई ढाकनेछ। यसकारणले जो जन्मनुहुन्छ उहाँ परमेश्वरको पुत्र कहलाइनु हुनेछ।
36And behold, Elisabeth thy kinswoman, she also hath conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her that was called barren.
36यस विषयमा ध्यान देऊः तिम्रो आफन्त इलीशिबा पनि गर्भवती छिन् तिनको अवस्था वृद्ध अनि बाँझी कहलाइए पनि अहिले तिनी छ महीनाबाट गर्भवती भएकी छिन्।
37For no word from God shall be void of power.
37किनभने परमेश्वर जस्तै कुरो पनि गर्न सक्नुहुन्छ।”
38And Mary said, Behold, the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
38मरियमले भनिन् “म परमप्रभुकी दासी हुँ। तपाईंले भने जस्तो ममाथि घट्न सक्छ।” त्यसपछि दूत उनीबाट विदा भए।
39And Mary arose in these days and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Judah;
39लगत्तै मरियम तयारी भइन् अनि यहूदिया गाउँको पहाडी शहरमा हत्तारिएर गइन्।
40and entered into the house of Zacharias and saluted Elisabeth.
40तिनी जकरियाको घरमा गईन् अनि इलीशिबालाई शुभकामना दिईन्।
41And it came to pass, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit;
41जब इलीशिबाले मरियमको शुभकामना सुनिन्, तब तिनको गर्भको नानी उफ्रियो। अनि इलीशिबा पवित्र आत्माद्वारा भरिपूर्ण भइन्।
42and she lifted up her voice with a loud cry, and said, Blessed [art] thou among women, and blessed [is] the fruit of thy womb.
42तिनले जोरले चिच्याएर भनीन्, “अरू स्त्रीहरूलाई भन्दा परमेश्वरले तिमीलाई धेरै आशीर्वाद दिनुभएकोछ। अनि गर्भमा रहेको नानी पनि त्यस्तै अनुग्रहित छ।
43And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come unto me?
43यस्तो कसरी हुन सक्यो कि मेरा परमप्रभुकि आमा मेरोमा आउनु परयो?
44For behold, when the voice of thy salutation came into mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.
44जब मैले तिम्रो अभिवादन सुने, मेरो गर्भमा भएको बालक र्हषले उफ्रि्यो।
45And blessed [is] she that believed; for there shall be a fulfilment of the things which have been spoken to her from the Lord.
45तिमीलाई आशीर्वाद छ किनभने परमप्रभुले तिमीलाई भन्नु भएको कुरा पूरा हुनेछ भन्ने तिमीमा विश्वास थियो।”
46And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,
46त्यसपछि मरियमले भनिन्
47And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
47मेरो आत्माले परमप्रभुको प्रशंसा गर्दछ, अनि मेरो हृदय परमेश्वरमा आनन्दित हुँदछ जो मेरा मुक्तिदाता हुनुहुन्छ।
48For he hath looked upon the low estate of his handmaid: For behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
48किनभने उहाँले आफ्नो दीन दासी प्रति कृपा गर्नु भयो, अब उप्रान्त सबै मानसहरूले मलाई अनुग्रहित मान्नेछन्,
49For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; And holy is his name.
49किनभने सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वरले मेरो निम्ति ठूला कार्याहरू गर्नुभएको छ। उहाँकोे नाउँ पवित्र होस्।
50And his mercy is unto generations and generations On them that fear him.
50जसले परमेश्वरलाई उपासना गर्छ उसको पुस्तौं सम्म उहाँ दयालु हुनुहुन्छ।
51He hath showed strength with his arm; He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their heart.
51उहाँले आफ्नो बाहुबलद्वारा शक्ति प्रदर्शन गर्नु भएकोछ। उहाँले घमण्डीहरूलाई तिनीहरूको धनहरूको घमण्ड नष्ट गरिदिनु भएकोछ।
52He hath put down princes from [their] thrones, And hath exalted them of low degree.
52उहाँले शक्तिशाली शासकहरूलाई सिंहासनबाट हटाउनुभएको छ, अनि नम्रहरूलाई उचाल्नु भएकोछ।
53The hungry he hath filled with good things; And the rich he hath sent empty away.
53उहाँले भोकाहरूलाई असल खाद्यहरूले तृप्त पार्नु भएकोछ। तर स्वार्थी र धनीहरूलाई रित्तै हात पठाई दिनु भएकोछ।
54He hath given help to Israel his servant, That he might remember mercy
54उहाँ आफ्नो दास इस्राएललाई सहायता गर्न आउनष्ठ्वु भएकोछ। उहाँले हामीलाई उहाँको कृपा दिनु भएकोछ।
55(As he spake unto our fathers) Toward Abraham and his seed for ever.
55उहाँले अब्राहाम र उनका सन्तानलाई दया गर्न हाम्रा पुर्खाहरूलाई दिएको वचन अनुसार सम्झनु भयो।”
56And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned unto her house.
56मरियम इलीशिबा संग प्रायः तीन महीनासम्म बसिन्। त्यसपछि घर र्फकिन्।
57Now Elisabeth's time was fulfilled that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.
57इलीशिबाको सुत्केरी हुने समय भयो अनि तिनले एउटा छोरो जन्माइन्।
58And her neighbors and her kinsfolk heard that the Lord had magnified his mercy towards her; and they rejoiced with her.
58तिनका छिमेकीहरू र आफन्तहरूले तिनीप्रति परमप्रभु परमेश्वरले अति नै अनुग्रह देखाएको सुनेका थिए। तिनीहरू मरियमसंग खुशी थिए।
59And it came to pass on the eighth day, that they came to circumcise the child; and they would have called him Zacharias, after the name of the father.
59बालक आठ दिनको भएपछि तिनीहरू उसको खतना गर्न आए। तिनीहरूले उसको नाउँ जकरिया राख्न चाहान्थे किनभने यो उसकै बाबूको नाउँ थियो।
60And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.
60तर उसकी आमाले भनिन्, होइन, उसको नाउँ यूहन्ना हुनेछ।”
61And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.
61मानसहरूले इलीशिबालाई भने, “तर तिमीहरूको परिवारमा यस्तो नाउँ भएको कोही छैन।”
62And they made signs to his father, what he would have him called.
62त्यसपछि तिनीहरूले तिनका बाबुलाई संकेत गरे, “तिमीले यसको नाउँ के राख्ने इच्छा गरेका छौ?”
63And he asked for a writing tablet, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all.
63जकरियाले केही लेख्न पाटी माँगे। तब उसले लेखिदिए, “उसको नाउँ यहून्ना हो।” तिनीहरू छक्क परे।
64And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue [loosed], and he spake, blessing God.
64त्यही बेला जकरियाको मुख खोलियो। उसको जिब्रो फुट्यो अनि उनी बोल्न थाले। उनले परमेश्वरको प्रशंसा गरे।
65And fear came on all that dwelt round about them: and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill country of Judaea.
65अनि उनको सबै छिमेकीहरू डराए। यहूदियाको पहाडी क्षेत्रका बासिन्दाहरू यस विषयमा कुराहरू गर्न थाले।
66And all that heard them laid them up in their heart, saying, What then shall this child be? For the hand of the Lord was with him.
66जम्मै मानिसहरू ज-जसले यी कुराहरू सुने तिनीहरू निकै प्रभावित भए “यो केटो पछि के बनिन्छ होला भनेर सोच्न थाले?” परमप्रभु त्यस बालकसित हुनाले त्यस्तो सोचिएको थियो। जकरियाद्वारा परमेश्वरको प्रशंसा
67And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying,
67त्यसपछि यूहन्नाको बाबु जकरियामा पवित्र आत्मा आउनु भयो। अनि तिनले यस्तो अगमवाणी दिन थालेः
68Blessed [be] the Lord, the God of Israel; For he hath visited and wrought redemption for his people,
68इस्राएलका परमप्रभु परमेश्वरको प्रशंसा गर कारण उहाँले आफ्ना मानिसहरूलाई सहायता गर्नु भयो अनि तिनीहरूलाई स्वतन्त्रता दिनुभयो।
69And hath raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of his servant David
69परमेश्वरकै सेवक दाऊदका बंशबाट उहाँले हामीलाई शक्तिशाली मुक्तिदाता दिनु भएको छ।
70(As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets that have been from of old),
70उहाँले भन्नु भएको थियो कि उहाँले यी सब गर्नु हुनेछ। धेरै अघिनै उहाँका पवित्र अगमवक्ताहरूबाट उहाँले यी सब कुराहरू भन्नु भएको हो।
71Salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;
71उहाले हामीलाई शत्रुहरूदेखि अनि हामीलाई घृणागर्ने शक्तिहरूदेखि जोगाउनु भएको छ।
72To show mercy towards, our fathers, And to remember his holy covenant;
72उहाँले हाम्रा पुर्खाहरूलाई दया गर्नेछु भन्नु भएकोछ। उहाँले पवित्र करार पनि स्मरण गर्नु भएकोछ।
73The oath which he spake unto Abraham our father,
73उहाँले हाम्रा पुर्खा अब्राहामको अघि शपथ खानु भएकोछ।
74To grant unto us that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies Should serve him without fear,
74उहाँले हामीलाई हाम्रो शत्रुहरूको पञ्जाबाट स्वतन्त्र राख्ने शपथ लिनु भएकोछ औ हामीलाई निर्भयपूर्वक उहाँको सेवामा राख्नु हुनेछ।
75In holiness and righteousness before him all our days.
75जब सम्म हामी जीवित रहन्छौ हामी पवित्र अनि परमेश्वर अघि सही मार्गमा रहनेछौं।
76Yea and thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Most High: For thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to make ready his ways;
76ए बालक तिमी महामहिमाको अगमवक्ता कहलाइनेछौ। उहाँको आगमनको मार्ग तयारी पार्न तिमी सर्वप्रथम परमेश्वरको अघि जानेछौ।
77To give knowledge of salvation unto his people In the remission of their sins,
77तिमीले उहाँका मानिसहरूलाई तिनीहरूको पापहरूबाट क्षमा पाएर कसरी बाँच्ने त्यो जान्न दिनेछौ।
78Because of the tender mercy of our God, Whereby the dayspring from on high shall visit us,
78परमेश्वरको प्रेमपूर्ण करूणा पाएर हाम्रा निम्ति स्वर्गबाट एउटा नयाँ उज्यालो दिन चम्कनेछ।
79To shine upon them that sit in darkness and the shadow of death; To guide our feet into the way of peace.
79उहाँले अन्धकारमा बसेका, मृत्युको डरमा परेकाहरूलाई मदत गर्नु हुनेछ। उहाँले हामीलाई शान्तिको मार्गतिर पथ-प्रदर्शन गर्नु हुनेछ।”
80And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his showing unto Israel.
