1My son, forget not my law; But let thy heart keep my commandments:
1हे मेरा छोरा, मेरा शिक्षाहरूलाई नभुल। मैले तिमीलाई गर्नु भनेका ती चीजहरूको सम्झना गर।
2For length of days, and years of life, And peace, will they add to thee.
2मैले भनेका कुराहरूले तिमीलाई दीर्घ, सुखमय तथा अधिक शान्तिपूर्ण जीवन जीउन सिकाउँछ।
3Let not kindness and truth forsake thee: Bind them about thy neck; Write them upon the tablet of thy heart:
3प्रेम, विश्वासनीयताले तिमीलाई कहिल्यै नछाडोस्। तिनीहरूलाई आफ्नो मानसपटलमा गहिरोसित राख। ती शिक्षाहरूलाई माला गुँथी गलामा लगाई राख्।
4So shalt thou find favor and good understanding In the sight of God and man.
4तब तिमी ज्ञानी हुनेछौ अनि तिमीले परमेश्वर अनि मानिसहरूबाट अनुग्रह पाउनेछौ।
5Trust in Jehovah with all thy heart, And lean not upon thine own understanding:
5तिम्रो सम्पूर्ण हृदयले परमप्रभुमा भरोसा गर। तिम्रो आफ्नै बुद्धिमा मात्र भर नपर।
6In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he will direct thy paths.
6तिम्रा सम्पूर्ण मार्गहरूमा परमप्रभुलाई सम्झ। उहाँले नै तिम्रा सबै मार्गहरू सोझो पारिदिनु हुनेछ।
7Be not wise in thine own eyes; Fear Jehovah, and depart from evil:
7आफैंलाई बुद्धिमानि नसोच, परमप्रभुसित डराउनु अनि दुष्कर्मबाट टाडो बस्नु।
8It will be health to thy navel, And marrow to thy bones.
8यदि तिमीले यसो गर्यौ भने तिम्रो शरीरलाई त्यो औषधी हुनेछ अथवा तिम्रो शरीरलाई ताजा बनाउने कुनै पेय वस्तु झैं हुनेछ।
9Honor Jehovah with thy substance, And with the first-fruits of all thine increase:
9तिम्रो सम्पत्तिले परमप्रभुको आदर गर। तिम्रो सर्वोतमबाट परमप्रभुलाई चढाऊ।
10So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, And thy vats shall overflow with new wine.
10त्यस पछि तिम्रो सम्पूर्ण खाँचो पूरा हुनेछ। तिम्रा ढुकुटीहरू अन्नले भरिने छन् अनि तेरा मसकबाट दाखरस पोखिरहेको हुनेछ।
11My son, despise not the chastening of Jehovah; Neither be weary of his reproof:
11हे मेरा छोरा, परमप्रभुको अनुशासन स्वीकार गर अनि उहाँले दण्ड दिनु भए रीस नगर। त्यसबाट शिक्षा हासिल गर।
12For whom Jehovah loveth he reproveth; Even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
12किनकि आफूले माया गर्नुभएका मानिसहरूलाई उहाँले सुधार्नु हुन्छ। हो, परमेश्वर बाबु जस्तै हुनुहुन्छ जुन बाबुले आफूले माया गरेको छोरालाई सजाय दिन्छ। ज्ञानहरूको आशीर्वाद
13Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, And the man that getteth understanding.
13धन्य हो त्यो मानिस जसले ज्ञान प्राप्त गर्छ। जसले विवेक हाँसिल गर्छ त्यो धन्य हो।
14For the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver, And the profit thereof than fine gold.
14ज्ञानबाट जो लाभ हुन्छ त्यो बहुमूल्य चाँदी भन्दा असल हो। ज्ञानबाट भएको लाभ सुन भन्दा असल हो।
15She is more precious than rubies: And none of the things thou canst desire are to be compared unto her.
15ज्ञान भौतिक मणि र माणिक भन्दा अधिक मूल्यवान हो। तिमीले चाहेको बस्तुहरूमा ज्ञान भन्दा मुल्यवान अरू हुन सक्तैन।
16Length of days is in her right hand; In her left hand are riches and honor.
16ज्ञानको दाहिने हातमा दीर्घायु छ भने देब्रे हातमा धन र सम्मान छ।
17Her ways are ways of pleasantness, And all her paths are peace.
17ज्ञानका मार्गहरू आनन्ददायक हुन्छन् ज्ञान मार्गबाट शान्ति पाइन्छ।
18She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: And happy is every one that retaineth her.
18ज्ञान एउटा मानिसको निम्ति जीवनको बृक्ष झैं हो जसले उसलाई बलिय गरी समाउँछ अनि त्यसमा जो टाँसिएर रहेनछ संधै धन्य रहन्छन्।
19Jehovah by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding he established the heavens.
19परमेश्वरले ज्ञानद्वारा पृथ्वी स्थापना गर्नु भयो, र सम्झ-शक्तिद्वारा आकाश सृजना गर्नु भयो।
20By his knowledge the depths were broken up, And the skies drop down the dew.
20उहाँको ज्ञान द्वारा परमप्रभुले समुद्र र बादल सृजना गर्नु भयो जसबाट पानी पर्छ।
21My son, let them not depart from thine eyes; Keep sound wisdom and discretion:
21हे मेरा छोरा, ज्ञानलाई तिम्रो विवेकशील दृष्टिबाट ओझलमा नपार। विजयहरूमा नियालेर सोच अनि होशियारीसित योजनाहरू बनाऊ।
22So shall they be life unto thy soul, And grace to thy neck.
22ज्ञान र समझ-शक्तिले तिमीलाई जीवन दिनेछन र यसले तिम्रो जीवन सुन्दर पार्नेछ।
23Then shalt thou walk in thy way securely, And thy foot shall not stumble.
23त्यसपछि तिमी सुरक्षित बस्नेछौ र तिम्रो पतन हुनेछैन। तिमी आफ्नो मार्गमा सुरक्षित भई हिडने छौ कतै पल्टनै छैनौ।
24When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: Yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.
24जब तिमी ओछ्यानमा पल्टनेछौ तिमीलाई डर लाग्दैन अनि सुत्दा घोर निद्रामा पर्नेछौ।
25Be not afraid of sudden fear, Neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh:
25तिमी आकस्मिक विनाशमा कहिल्यै नडराउनु अथवा जुन विनाशमा दुष्ट मानिसहरू फँसिन्छन् त्यसमा कदापि नडराउनु।
26For Jehovah will be thy confidence, And will keep thy foot from being taken.
26किनभने परमप्रभु तिमीहरूको छेवैमा हुनुहुनेछ, यसर्थ उहाँले नै तिम्रो पाऊ कतै फँस्न दिनु हुन्न।
27Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, When it is in the power of thy hand to do it.
27जब तिमी त्यो काम गर्नु योग्य छौ, अनि जो त्यसको लागि उपयुक्त छ त्यो मानिसको लागि असल कर्म गर्नु अस्वीकार नगर।
28Say not unto thy neighbor, Go, and come again, And to-morrow I will give; When thou hast it by thee.
28जब तिमीसँग आफ्नो छिमेकीलाई आवश्यक परेको चीज छ र उसले पनि माग्छ भने, “भोलि आऊ” नभन, दिई हाल।
29Devise not evil against thy neighbor, Seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.
29तिमीहरूका छिमेकीहरूका विरूद्ध नराम्रो योजना नबनाऊ जो तिम्रो छेउमा बस्छअनि तिमीमाथि भरोसा गर्छन।
30Strive not with a man without cause, If he have done thee no harm.
30कुनै कारण बिना कसैलाई अदालतमा नघिस्याउ यदि त्यो मानिसले तिमीलाई क्षति पुर्याएको छैन भने।
31Envy thou not the man of violence, And choose none of his ways.
31उपदव्र गर्ने मानिसको इर्ष्या नगर, अनि ऊ जस्तै हुन नखोज।
32For the perverse is an abomination to Jehovah; But his friendship is with the upright.
32किन? किनभने परमप्रभुले त्यस्ता मानिसलाई घृणा गर्नु हुन्छ, तर उहाँ इमान्दार मानिसहरूको मित्र हुनुहुन्छ।
33The curse of Jehovah is in the house of the wicked; But he blesseth the habitation of the righteous.
33दुष्ट मानिसको घर परमप्रभुद्वारा श्रापित रहन्छ अनि इमान्दार मानिसको घर उहाँद्वारा आशीषित हुन्छ।
34Surely he scoffeth at the scoffers; But he giveth grace unto the lowly.
34यदि कुनै मानिस घमण्डी छ र अन्य मानिसहरूको खिल्ली उडाउछ भने परमेश्वरले त्यस मानिसलाई दण्ड दिनु हुनेछ र खिसि गर्नु हुनेछ। तर नम्र मानिसहरू प्रति परमेश्वर दयालु हुनुहुन्छ।
35The wise shall inherit glory; But shame shall be the promotion of fools.
35ज्ञानी मानिसले आदर पाउँछन, तर मूर्ख मानिसले लाज तथा अपमान मात्र पाउँछ।
