¹And it shall be, when thou art come in unto the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and possessest it, and dwellest therein,

¹Når du kommer inn i det land Herren din Gud gir dig til arv, og du tar det i eie og bor der,

²that thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the ground, which thou shalt bring in from thy land that Jehovah thy God giveth thee; and thou shalt put it in a basket, and shalt go unto the place which Jehovah thy God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there.

²da skal du ta førstegrøden av alle jordens frukter som du innhøster av det land Herren din Gud gir dig, og legge det i en kurv og gå til det sted Herren din Gud utvelger for å la sitt navn bo der.

³And thou shalt come unto the priest that shall be in those days, and say unto him, I profess this day unto Jehovah thy God, that I am come unto the land which Jehovah sware unto our fathers to give us.

³Og du skal gå til den som er prest på den tid, og si til ham: Jeg vidner idag for Herren din Gud at jeg er kommet inn i det land Herren har svoret våre fedre å ville gi oss.

⁴And the priest shall take the basket out of thy hand, and set it down before the altar of Jehovah thy God.

⁴Og presten skal ta kurven av din hånd og sette den ned foran Herrens, din Guds alter.

⁵And thou shalt answer and say before Jehovah thy God, A Syrian ready to perish was my father; and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there, few in number; and he became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous.

⁵Da skal du ta til orde og si for Herrens, din Guds åsyn: Min far var en omvankende araméer, og han drog ned til Egypten og bodde der som fremmed med en liten flokk; og der blev han til et stort, sterkt og tallrikt folk.

⁶And the Egyptians dealt ill with us, and afflicted us, and laid upon us hard bondage:

⁶Men egypterne for ille med oss og plaget oss og la hårdt trælarbeid på oss.

⁷and we cried unto Jehovah, the God of our fathers, and Jehovah heard our voice, and saw our affliction, and our toil, and our oppression;

⁷Da ropte vi til Herren, våre fedres Gud; og Herren hørte vår røst og så vår nød, vår møie og vår trengsel.

⁸and Jehovah brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with wonders;

⁸Og Herren førte oss ut av Egypten med sterk hånd og med utrakt arm og med store, forferdelige gjerninger og med tegn og under.

⁹and he hath brought us into this place, and hath given us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey.

⁹Og han førte oss til dette sted og gav oss dette land, et land som flyter med melk og honning.

¹⁰And now, behold, I have brought the first of the fruit of the ground, which thou, O Jehovah, hast given me. And thou shalt set it down before Jehovah thy God, and worship before Jehovah thy God:

¹⁰Og her kommer jeg nu med førstegrøden av det lands frukter som du, Herre, har gitt mig. Så skal du legge det ned for Herrens, din Guds åsyn og tilbede for Herrens, din Guds åsyn.

¹¹and thou shalt rejoice in all the good which Jehovah thy God hath given unto thee, and unto thy house, thou, and the Levite, and the sojourner that is in the midst of thee.

¹¹Og du skal glede dig over alt det gode Herren din Gud har gitt dig og ditt hus, både du og levitten og den fremmede som bor i ditt land.

¹²When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithe of thine increase in the third year, which is the year of tithing, then thou shalt give it unto the Levite, to the sojourner, to the fatherless, and to the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled.

¹²Når du i det tredje år - tiendeåret - er blitt ferdig med å utrede hele tienden av din avling, og du har gitt levitten, den fremmede, den farløse og enken, så de kan ete sig mette hos dig i dine byer,

¹³And thou shalt say before Jehovah thy God, I have put away the hallowed things out of my house, and also have given them unto the Levite, and unto the sojourner, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all thy commandment which thou hast commanded me: I have not transgressed any of thy commandments, neither have I forgotten them:

¹³da skal du si for Herrens, din Guds åsyn: Nu har jeg båret det hellige ut av huset og gitt det til levitten og til den fremmede, til den farløse og til enken, aldeles efter det bud som du har gitt mig; jeg har ikke overtrådt noget av dine bud og ikke glemt noget.

¹⁴I have not eaten thereof in my mourning, neither have I put away thereof, being unclean, nor given thereof for the dead: I have hearkened to the voice of Jehovah my God; I have done according to all that thou hast commanded me.

¹⁴Jeg har ikke ett noget av tienden mens jeg hadde sorg, og ikke båret bort noget av den mens jeg var uren, og jeg har ikke brukt noget av den for en død; jeg har vært Herrens, min Guds røst lydig, jeg har i ett og alt gjort således som du har befalt mig.

¹⁵Look down from thy holy habitation, from heaven, and bless thy people Israel, and the ground which thou hast given us, as thou swarest unto our fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.

¹⁵Se ned fra din hellige bolig, fra himmelen, og velsign ditt folk Israel og det land du har gitt oss, således som du med ed har lovt våre fedre, et land som flyter med melk og honning!

¹⁶This day Jehovah thy God commandeth thee to do these statutes and ordinances: thou shalt therefore keep and do them with all thy heart, and with all thy soul.

¹⁶På denne dag byder Herren din Gud dig å holde disse lover og bud; og du skal akte vel på at du holder dem av alt ditt hjerte og av all din sjel.

¹⁷Thou hast avouched Jehovah this day to be thy God, and that thou wouldest walk in his ways, and keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his ordinances, and hearken unto his voice:

¹⁷Du har idag gitt Herren ditt ord at han skal være din Gud, og at du vil vandre på hans veier og ta vare på hans lover og hans bud og hans forskrifter og lyde hans røst

¹⁸and Jehovah hath avouched thee this day to be a people for his own possession, as he hath promised thee, and that thou shouldest keep all his commandments;

¹⁸Og Herren har idag gitt dig sitt ord at du skal være hans eiendomsfolk, således som han har sagt til dig, og at han, dersom du holder alle hans bud,

¹⁹and to make thee high above all nations that he hath made, in praise, and in name, and in honor; and that thou mayest be a holy people unto Jehovah thy God, as he hath spoken.

¹⁹vil heve dig høit over alle de folk han har skapt, til pris og til ry og til pryd, og at du skal være et hellig folk for Herren din Gud, således som han har sagt.
